Berlin Brandenburg Airport

✅ Trip Verified | The worst airport in the world. Queueing is the speciality. Even in priority lane, nobody is working properly, or, there not enough clerks to make fluid the passenger traffic. Really no other airport can compete with the sloppiness of Berlin Brandenburg. It is a shame for a new airport and a shame for Berlin.

Not Verified | Probably the worst airport experience I've had. 15 minutes + walk to gate. 3 hour + security lines. Severely under staffed, so impatient staff

✅ Trip Verified | We booked this flight with RyanAir to return to Dublin. It was our first visit to BER Airport. The way from the car rental return to Terminal 2 is simply unreasonable with your full luggage. Then the self service check in of the luggage didn't work. You could weight your luggage and tag it but the drop down scanner doesn't recognize it. So still had to queue and faced very rude check in staff. The airport staff has got no manners to deal with customers, specially the security check staff. This was already the case on the old Schönefeld Terminal. Going further there where no facilities at all at the boarding gate. There where two toilets for ladies only, one was blocked and in a disgusting condition while on the other one was a long queue. There was no drink facility open. Informing the customer service about this via phone I was told that nothing can be done about this. There where not enough seating or even standing space available. We felt like sardines in a can. Overall a very, very bad experience. We will try to avoid this airport in the future. Ann and Uwe.

Not Verified | After reading so many poor reviews, I was dreading the experience of arriving into and departing from BER. However, the arrival and passage through passport control was swift. Departure: the advice suggested arriving at the terminal at least 2 hours before departure. I believe I was through the rigorous security check 10 minutes after arriving at T2, this was Sunday morning so it may have been quieter than normal. Despite the standing X-ray scan, I was still given a complete pat search by the security controller. I was wearing a T-shirt and slim chinos so I don't know what they were expecting to find. Onwards to the air-side which is very spacious and light with huge windows giving a generous outlook. Plenty of soft seating. UK airports take note! Drinking water fountains and spotless conveniences. My only criticism is that the ambient temperature was quite warm. The passport control was swift and polite. I can see that in busy periods, the potential for a long queue at security is possible, hence the need to arrive early, just in case.

Not Verified | Ridiculous security queues. Like the ones where you think you won’t make your flight. And everyone is thinking the same. Had to run to the gate. No information on any of the screens about my flight As I ran past at the gate they say 50 minute delay.? Why make people panic and scared? You’d think the money they spent they would provide rubbish bins for the items that can’t go through security (water bottles/liquid etc) instead they are left piled up on the floor. Calls over the loudspeakers are too quiet to hear over 500 people in security lanes. No food at the gate so back 10 mins walk to the “food hall” - Small range of food, overpriced. Either walk down 4 flights of stairs or get into a tiny elevator for 3 people. When there are hundreds of passengers to get downstairs to the multiple gates. I think they just made some pretty wooden furnishings and then ran out of design ideas and technology.

✅ Trip Verified | Terrible airport, especially their security is the worst I have ever experienced, the queue was very slow despite all security desks being open the workers were very slow and the scanning device that wouldn't work until you stand at certain position so it takes ages to proceed. What made it worse was that there was no air conditioning especially in the very hot weather outside, outside the security are in the departure gates hall in the zone that my flight was in it was very limited amount of places to eat or buy drinks and the ones that were there was very expensive with limited availability of products. Overall I would recommend for arrivals to this airport as it was nice, but departing from this airport can be a nightmare

Not Verified |  At 6pm Half of the shops and bars closed. For an airport that size the offering is very poor But the cherry on the cake was the fact that I’m a digital world that we live in - there is not one socket at bars, gates, pillars , not one socket to charge your phone! Terrible Loads of doors and signs but all for personnel

✅ Trip Verified | Wow, I’ve been to a lot of airports and this is by far the worst. It’s brand new, yet it has very few stalls in bathrooms which causes huge lines. Also they use reusable cloth towels to dry your hands but they were empty and so was the soap. Disappointing in times of Corona. There is very little seating by the gates, so many people just end up sitting on the floor. I also didn’t see any changing facilities in the bathrooms. The only redeeming quality to this airport is that it does have water bottle dispensers. I always have an empty water bottle as I try my best to be sustainable and to not pay for disposable water bottles. Water always be free.

✅ Trip Verified | This airport has totally stupid system that make people waste time. I had to take escalator to get up stairs and just worker came and didn't even give me a explanation and just passing the German passport first and disappeared and leave other non-German people wait so long. And then The waiting lane for gate C&D passport control was chaos of people and not organized as well so had to wait longer and i was in the left end lane and the police who working on left end counter, he just left without telling us anything, so i had to re-enter the other lane and waste my time again. And near gate there's no smoking area that every other airport has. I would not like to use this airport again if its not really necessary. Totally not recommending and even 1 star is too much for this airport.

Not Verified | I have been to this airport many times in the past year. Usually I travel just with the hand luggage but the last 3 times I had 2 checked-in bags each time and each time it took 1 hour or more for the bags to appear at "baggage claim". This is the longest I ever waited for my luggage in an airport anywhere in the world. 2 of my last 3 flights were about 1 hour long and the waiting for my luggage was about 1hr and 10 minutes! It's really frustrating when you are tired and arrive at 23:00 and just want to go home! On the screen it was saying "Swissport" so I am not sure if it means the company handling the bags was Swissport. Also, since I am here.., those moving pavement bits I don't think I have ever seen them moving! It's a new airport and those parts don't work. If you travel with Easyjet or Ryanair it means you leave and come back from the furthest gates there are in the airport (more like the furthest on the planet!) and again when you come back late at night with an heavy backpack and you just have to walk next to those moving pavement but cannot use them it's really annoying. One really final quick moan.. they have those charging points in the gates' waiting rooms. It's a design mistake. Why wouldn't you have plugs directly next to some seats? Like in most places? That's all.
