Atlanta Hartsfield Airport

Connected from an international flight to a domestic one. Immigration and Customs procedures went quickly. This is the second arrival from an international flight to ATL and I can say it's pretty awful which is surprising since they have a fairly new international terminal! The walk from the gate to immigration can take 20 minutes which could be a problem for someone in a wheelchair or any disability. Immigration lines are long for foreign passengers but they do have new computer scanners for US citizens which help make it faster. However waiting for luggage was another 20 minute wait and I'm premium with Delta and my bags were among the first to come off. Then getting to the domestic terminal to get to MARTA or local ATL transport is another shuttle bus service away. The airport is huge and quite impressive but this new international terminal has its own separate exit from the domestic terminal and is really a separate entity. I will consider another international gateway in the future. Connecting to domestic flights is a bit easier than what I experienced but I can say that ATL is not a smooth experience especially after coming off a 12 hour flight from Tokyo. Traveling from a domestic flight to international is a different story. It is a fairly good experience.

Connected from an international flight to a domestic one. Immigration and Customs procedures went quickly. Requested a wheelchair through the airline and one was waiting and proceeded quickly to a lounge in the international terminal and then later on to Terminal B for our domestic flight. It's a big airport and certain terminals (e.g. B) can get particularly crowded but the trains help and overall our experience was good.

Having arrived from BSL via LHR (where I had a 7 hour layover) at 19H30 local time I was a bit concerned about then facing a long delay for immigration and baggage reclaim. However I was very pleasantly surprised a clearly sign-posted corridor and plenty of 'self-service' immigration machines for scanning my passport. Of course I made a mess of trying to use it but was immediately helped by a joyous friendly and welcoming TSA southern lady who then passed me over to a male colleague who checked my paper slip with a large smile and invited me to continue to baggage reclaim. The whole process took around 10 mins even though the immigration area was full. Baggage reclaim was well-signed and I was landside approximately 10 minutes after that. Well done ATL for clear signage an abundance of helpful staff and a delightfully friendly welcome.

This is the worst airport next to LAX staff have no regard or respect for customers. I had an early flight at 6am and the staff that worked the check in booth did not show up until 5.30 when they did arrive they all had attitudes. Before this it had taken us an hour to find the park and ride in that unorganized poorly managed establishment. When we eventually found the park and ride nobody could give us any direction as to what shuttle to get on. When we got to the check in booth like I said the workers came late then told us that our bags were late and that they may or may not make it. We flew all the way to San Jose worried that our bags wouldn't make it luckily they did but the flight back to Atlanta was horrendous. My bag didn't make it we went through the lost baggage process they gave me the run around on the whereabouts of my suitcase and finally the day after we flew in they found it.

If you are an international traveller I don't recommend using Atlanta Hartsfield after flying in from the UK the lines for immigration were long even though all the booths seemed to be manned they were a lot of non speaking English people arriving so translators were required which made the wait longer. Once cleared immigration had another queue to get through customs then the worst thing is you have to recheck your baggage and go through security why when you have got off an international flight and not left the terminal do you have to go through security. All this queuing took over two hours and i made my connecting flight with minutes to spare avoid Atlanta if at all possible. Also food outlets at the international departures is abysmal and very expensive just had a beer at the bar and for a large Bud they charged me $12.55 and had the nerve to include an 18% gratuity charge.

Pleasantly surprised at this airport which has received bad press in the past. No queues at either immigration or security. On leaving the whole process took less than five minutes from bag drop to getting airside. All staff except one woman on security were pleasant and helpful. Maybe she was simply having a bad day!

We were in ATL as transit passengers and had a really good experience. Even if the airport is so huge immigration was fast and queuing times were short. There was a food court and shops in our domestic terminal and the train between the terminals provides a fast transfer.

I agree with previous reviews of the shuttle system between the international and domestic terminal. I have been to almost every international airport in the US and overseas and I have never seen such an inefficient and stupid system. I found that the airport does not allow any outside ANY shuttle pick ups at the international terminal. This includes regional shuttles such as Groome Transportation to Columbus and Macon. You must go to the domestic terminal and ground transportation on a tiny airport shuttle bus. Try getting heavy suitcases onto one of these tiny shuttle busses and the driver yelling at you to hurry up. The international terminal is very nice but this shuttle system policy needs to change.

We rode the so-called "wonderful" shuttle to the international from the domestic. That is the most inefficient system I've seen. It's certainly not focused on the customer and I will never do that again. The shuttle from our Hyatt Hotel could not drop us at the International terminal. Instead we had to manage 9 bags on the stupid shuttle from the domestic. One of the worst systems I've seen. I will make other arrangements which will not include any hotel support. I talked with others and they are going to do the same.

We returned from Cancun to find usual incompetence and inefficiencies at the airport. First ground crews are not prepared so the plane had to wait 15 minutes on the ground until the gate was readied. While sitting on the plane I noticed a member on the ground crew sitting under the jet bridge eating his lunch. We had similar experiences on our outbound flight through Atlanta with ground crews not readied. Next we're introduced to the US embarrassment known as the TSA. They are inefficient and rude. I usually fly Delta but will now try to avoid them - to avoid Atlanta.
