"never should have let us board"

Not Verified | My husband is Jamaican, he's a US Permanent Residency, I am American, prior to leaving Phoenix, I asked if my husband was OK to travel with his US Visa, I was told, he was. When we arrived in Paris, they would not let my husband enter and was told, the airline never should have let us board without a France visa! They would not even return us home at no charge, we spent the night on the airport floor before purchasing tickets to fly home the following day. My husband was treated like a criminal for entering Paris without a Visa. I was treated with hatred for not knowing he needed a visa!

Trip Verified | I tried to upload this review using the New York JFK wi-fi internet, but no luck. My flight was WS 1681. At the time I was on the check-in line up, there was a customer (lady) with her young boy, he was suffering an anxiety attack, yelling and moving uncontrollably. She was at #9 on the line. The situation lasted 30-40 minutes, until an air hostess named Jassodra, stepped out of her booth and asked the lady with the child to move out of the line and check in with her after the current customer. Jassodra did what I was hoping someone could do during that long time waiting. Then, the kid stopped the yelling. Jassodra showed an exceptional customer service, prioritizing people with special needs. I was amazed of the fact that before her, no one from the airline even paid attention to the situation like nothing was happening. I'll be writing an email to the airline with this positive comment on their customer service and will suggest improvement of the service in this cases.

"100% satisfied with WestJet's service"

Trip Verified | Was 100% satisfied with WestJet's service. Had contact with their reservations center and the agent looked closely at my booking and volunteered germane information without my having to probe. Flight services were good too. Airport agents efficient and professional. Why is it so hard for US carriers to get anything right? Much better than Air Canada.

"two services for a 10 hour daytime flight"

Trip Verified | Only two services for a 10 hour daytime flight, completely unacceptable. Pathetic portions and no additional food for sale. Flight attendants openly arguing in the aisle during service. Their systems failed and they refused to recognize my Delta elite status, splitting me from the rest of my party. Great leg room and comfortable seats. The only way they got to 3.

"rest of our experience was not bad"

Trip Verified | My family flew from Vancouver to Cancun via Toronto. On our way home my husband purchased duty free at Cancun He informed the staff that he had a connecting flight in Toronto and we had no checked in luggage. When we got to Toronto the security staff said the duty free bags were not tamper proof and we would have to check them in. They said we would not be charged as it was the fault of duty free. However when my husband went to check in a bag the man at the Westjet desk was very rude and condescending, and insisted that we had to pay. To add insult to injury, when we were at the gate, they were asking for people to check in bags for free due to the plane being so full. When we requested a refund after our return Westjet ‘respectfully’ declined. For us there was nothing respectful about them profiting from a mistake made by duty free. The guys at security were very surprised that we had to pay. Be warned if you buy duty free and you have a connecting flight you may well end up paying a checked baggage fee whether you want to or not. It’s a shame as the rest of our experience was not bad, but this would make me think twice about using Westjet again, and it really wouldn’t have taken much for them to do the right thing.

"our checked baggage never arrived"

Not Verified | Twice in a week going to Halifax via Calgary both our checked baggage never arrived. Leaving Halifax to Vancouver again a stop over in Calgary our luggage again never arrived. Twice we had to go out and purchase toiletries and clothes. Found the staff rude on the flights particularly when trying to navigate the rear toilets. Stepping into their rear seats that were empty to let people pass the male flight attendant told us off for stepping aside in their area. Trying to choose seats for long haul flights were not easy either. What should have been an enjoyable flight was made uncomfortable with grumbling staff and its quite obvious that Westjet must get air cargo and inconvenience customers over more dollars with freight.

"We will never travel with them again"

Trip Verified | I and my partner were traveling to Vancouver from Paris, with a stop in Calgary. We are French, have lived in Canada for about two years, and never had any issues traveling in and out of Canada before. In particular, we had been twice in the US before being back in France and even crossed the border back to Canada about 2 weeks before this flight without the slightest issue. As French citizens, we need only an Electronic Travel authorization which I just had renewed and which was 2 years old for my partner (but valid 5 years). We were first talked to rudely by the Security agency hired by the airlines company to stand at the beginning of the check-in queue who requested immigration documents (that we did not need, but that they were sure we needed, such as work permits and such), they called the Canadian Immigration service of Roissy-CDG who talked to my partner and seems embarrassed for us. They were also requesting "Visas" even though French nationals do not need them. As I was trying to explain to them what they obviously didn't know, I was told I was "aggressive" and "haughty". We lost about 20min there. We had to justify our coming to Canada, with very intrusive questions like if we were illegal immigrants interrogated by some backward police (even though this security team has absolutely no qualification nor right to ask us any such question). Then, we reached the check-in and baggage deposit and the agent who had probably observed the scene from a distance requested my partner to show his 2-years old ETA confirmation email which he couldn't find, having changed recently his cellphone on which it was. According to this agent, the validity of it (which has always been immediately visible to all borders agent and other airlines companies without needing to ask to see a "confirmation email") was not "accessible on his system". We had to re-apply for one (losing another 30min). Finally, another airline agent "saw" the validity of his ETA, by some sort of miracle after I requested they called again the Immigration service. We will never travel with them again!

"disgusting display of customer service"

Not Verified | What a despicable airline, my 10 year old daughter had to be flown to Toronto immediately. We are the recipients of a liver transplant child who just had this life changing procedure in July 2023. On September 4th during her regular scheduled blood work it was found that her enzyme numbers had increased 3 times the norm and the following Friday up again significantly higher. A conversation with Sick Kids in Toronto deemed it necessary to have her there the following day, so we drive mostly through the night to arrive in Winnipeg to catch a 6am flight to have her there. Arrived at 6.16am and were refused entry because we arrived 6 minutes late. I requested a supervisor who had no empathy no compassion and no regard and said rules are rules.. We then called WestJet and were given the same answers, additionally they kept full fare, I have made this issue aware on all social media platforms and have a meeting tomorrow with a media news outlet. I believe this was a disgusting situation and certainly a disgusting display of customer service on all levels.

Trip Verified | Never once in my life I was satisfied with Westjet service. Frequent delays (2+ hrs) with "there is nothing I can do" every time. There is a reason why many different new airlines are popping up in Canada. No one likse them. They should be ashamed of themselves.
