"won't be choosing Emirates again"

(United Kingdom)

Verified Review | London Heathrow to Denpasar via Dubai. We won't be choosing Emirates again. This was our first business class trip with Emirates rather than Qatar Airways, who we normally choose. A catalogue of problems, beginning with the chauffeur being an hour late to collect us, leaving us with a really stressful Friday afternoon journey around the M25 to cope with. We made it, but not by much. Seats on the A380 are great, but we were prevented from using toilets closest to us (reserved for 1st class we found out) and having to go to the back of the Business cabin to use an inadequate number of dirty toilets for what turns out to be a huge cabin. Food was mediocre; dried out (overheated) bread rolls and over-cooked dinners for both my husband and I. Staff are super though, that's their strength for sure. Arrived DXB, long bus ride to terminal (almost 15 minutes), very long walk and another change of terminals to find the next gate. Boeing 777 was really outdated; if you are not travelling with a partner, get ready for a stranger to climb over your not-very-flat bed to reach the aisle. Not acceptable in today's business class choices. TV screens are huge but the pixels make for grainy viewing and both my husband and I experienced our screens reverting to a puff-piece on Dubai and Emirates quite a few times when we were enjoying a movie. We could not connect to onboard wifi. Emirates lounge in DXB over-crowded with totally inadequate, smelly toilet facilities and queues at all times in both the men's and ladies loos. Emirates were cheaper than Qatar Airways but the choice for us will be to spend more to achieve the really high standard of care Qatar gets right. We still have out last leg to go to LHR and hoping for a meal which is not cooked to death and a taxi which shows up. Never again.

"always meet my expectations"

(Malaysia)

Verified Review | Flew Kuala Lumpur to Dublin return. Flying with Emirates is a yearly affair now and they always meet my expectations. The ticket was value for money, hospitable cabin crew, flight journey largely smooth and most of all, always a positive experience. Credit also goes to our pilots when they flew over the Bay of Bengal, they knew there was turbulence and they made the right call in not serving meals temporarily while making sure we were safe.

"staff very pleasant and helpful"

(United Kingdom)

Verified Review | My first time flying Emirates Business on A380 from Dubai to Manchester. I was impressed from the start. Went up to the business lounge - lots of comfortable seating and delicious food and drink available. Went straight to airplane from lounge. My seat was at the back of the section. There was a male passenger in the seat over the aisle and I must admit I felt very exposed and too close to him. Luckily there were several empty seats so I moved to a window seat - this time seat over aisle was unoccupied. Seat was very easy to move and very comfortable. Later I was offered a mattress but didn't need it. Staff very pleasant and helpful although during the flight I did ask for a drink of hot water which I never received. Meal served on white cloth. China by Royal Doulton. It felt lovely to drink out of a porcelain mug. Food was ok - better than Economy of course. I was able to have my choice but I think I chose wrongly. Later I had afternoon tea - bread had dried out but fillings very pleasant - much better than economy's which are sometimes inedible. Nice big screen to watch. I visited the bar area which was fun. Lots of tasty morsels to try there as well as drinks.

"service was faultless"

(United Kingdom)

Verified Review | Manchester to Mauritius via Dubai with Emirates. Never flown with them before but would definitely do again. Customer service was faultless, the space on the plane was plenty and entertainment fantastic. Eat and drink as much as you want - a fantastic airline with great staff. Terminal 3 at Dubai is just for Emirates and the airport itself is like a small city with so much to do and see.

"as good as you can get"

(Australia)

Verified Review | Perth to Prague via Dubai with Emirates on Qantas tickets to get the QF points and status credits. We always work this way. Typical Emirates business class, that is to say pretty much as good as you can get. The A380 from Perth to Dubai was a very early model and starting to show its age, but still everything was up to standard and sleep was easy. New Perth lounge does get a bit crowded when the A380 is leaving and lack of pyjamas on overnight flight a minor issue, but still would not fly with anyone else to Europe.

"difficult to depart on time"

(Belgium)

Verified Review | Have flown Amsterdam to Dubai roundtrips with Emirates A380s since they started the route. Seat, IFE and overall cabin comfort remain top in class. Catering has recently improved, quality of the FAs is still erratic, but Emirates find it increasingly difficult to depart on time, both in AMS and DXB. When departure is delayed by more than 45min it is not possible to catch-up during the flight as the sector is not long enough. Turnaround time in Amsterdam is very short, and thus departure time suffers quickly when the inbound flight is delayed. Not sure why leaving Dubai on time is so difficult, but according to announcements made by cabin staff it is often due to passengers arriving late at the gate.

"a near private seat"

(United Kingdom)

Flew London Heathrow to Dubai. Outstanding. Comments apply both ways. First time on an A380 and also first in Emirates business class. Normally fly with BA but for various reasons decided to give Emirates a go and very glad I did. Speedy check-in and straight into a very quiet and large lounge at LHR T3 with excellent food and beverage. Boarding straight from lounge onto top deck of A380. Had 3 aisle seats for the family, noticeable that Emirates have narrowed the aisle to allow for the wider seating arrangements. Very nice to have a near private seat and no neighbour, nice touch having the soft drink mini bar at each seat, and lots of good accessible storage. Seat took a little getting used to, I prefer being able to put my feet on the floor rather than on a foot rest and when lying flat out the shape of the seat in front encroaches where your legs go so means for taller people you have to adjust your position in the seat to be comfortable. The food was excellent, best I have had on board in 20 plus years and the crew were friendly and worked hard (I had slight concerns before flying as reputation is Emirates can be a bit hit and miss). Nice touch was the barman taking souvenir photos on request for passengers at the bar in an old style 60s technology Polaroid type camera - quite exciting for my daughter seeing a picture appear. And yes, being able to walk down to the bar makes for a good experience. Entertainment system and screen excellent. Phone can be used, wifi slow but ok for basic browsing. Large accessible toilets that were kept spotless for the entire flight. Fast tracked though immigration and priority luggage turned up first and escorted straight to the waiting limo. Overall this trip was on a different level to any I have had for many years, I will certainly now use Emirates as carrier of choice where possible if this is the normal standard.

"will try another airline"

(Australia)

Barcelona to Sydney via Dubai with Emirates. The A380 in economy is roomy enough but service was again found wanting after meal service. Dubai won't allow liquids of more than 100ml past the boarding gate area so you rely on being provided enough water inflight. This I found near impossible and with my annoying dry cough I needed the liquid. I tried repeatedly to hail a passing staff member only to be ignored. Never before have I pressed the assistance button but when a staff member finally responded it was with an impatient look but she eventually brought a mouthful of water in a plastic cup. Hardly enough to keep well hydrated. When disembarking I spotted a water fountain with cups down the front end of economy I could have used, had I been able to get past the two large men sound asleep beside me - the perils of the window seat. I will try another airline for my next trip.

"maybe expected too much"

(United Kingdom)

Manchester to Dubai with Emirates. It was disappointing - paid to upgrade to business class and maybe expected too much. After queuing for check in we were immediately welcomed by the staff saying "You are on a saver business ticket so you can't use the lounge". Yes we knew that, but thankyou for making us feel so welcome. Onboard we settled into row 18 in the lovely A380 seats. The cabin supervisor was coming through welcoming people onboard - she clearly missed us out and carried on. No smile or hello. We hadn't paid enough, obviously. Next my husbands seat did not recline or indeed move. The centre partition was jammed half way down. The cabin supervisor came over and shrugged. We will reset the seat and see what happens - it got stuck half way to lie flat. We changed seats off our own back but the only seats available together were in row 26 infront of the rowdy men's pub area (inflight bar). If you want a peaceful flight don't sit in the rear section. It's like lying down at a party. The food service started - they took our orders early on but oh dear, our choices weren't available. No apology even though they would have known that already at time of taking the order. The food we got was lovely but really - back row problem in any class obviously. After being at the party a while, listening to some loud stories and eating something we didn't really want we found yet 2 more individual seats further down the cabin to try and sleep. It was shoddy the whole trip. Downstairs it was half full and people no doubt had 3 seats each anyway. We upgraded not for the food but to lie down and be more comfortable. I guess we got that bit eventually but at a price we personally wouldn't pay for in the future.

"service was prompt"

(Singapore)

Verified Review | Flew Emirates from Melbourne to Singapore. Check-in and boarding was a breeze as boarding was done according to zones (seat numbers) which prevented crowding at the boarding gate. In-flight entertainment was great with a wide selection of movies that were relatively new, and it kept me occupied for the entire 8 hour flight from Melbourne to Singapore. Food was great, service was prompt and crew were friendly. Enjoyed this flight alot.
