ANA All Nippon Airways

NRT-SIN-NRT-ORD. Flights between NRT-SIN were just ok. The 767 was the most cramped aircraft I've ever been on and the food was mediocre. The legroom was so poor that my knees hit the seat in front of me when I reclined (and I'm not all that tall). The flight from NRT-ORD was excellent though. There was plenty of legroom on the 777 food was delicious and plentiful and nothing was too much trouble for the FAs. All flights did have excellent video-on-demand entertainment. Overall ANA is a little bit inconsistent but much better than any U.S. carrier. I would fly them again.

IAD-NRT-IAD in First both aircraft were equipped with the old "new" product. Leaves a lot to be desired. There's basically no at-seat storage. I like that it's so easy to move the tray out of the way while you're eating though. Bed was a very thin mattress pad to put over the seat with a duvet on top. I had the Kaiseki meal and it was very good. Flight attendants very good and spoke English but their accent was so thick that it was very hard to understand them.

PEK-KIX great legroom but seats and IFE on this 737-700 were not anything to write home about though good enough for this 3 hour leg. The cabin was in impeccable condition and service was quiet attentive and polite. Superb Japanese lunch with a fine choice of wines sakes and shochus.

NRT-SIN on Economy. Rebooked by SQ as my original SQ flight had been delayed and thus would likely miss my connection in Singapore. B767-300ER not new it was well maintained. The inflight service was decent and for those who flies on ANA only may satisfied with it. As I usually fly on SQ on NRT-SIN during the same time of the day there was a significant difference in inflight service. While SQ serves a lunch and a snack on 7 hour service ANA serves a lunch only. In addition SQ gives ice-cream for free ANA charges 350 yen as "ANA Selection". As ANA tickets to SIN sold in Japan are relatively more expensive than those of SQ I would choose SQ in the future.

Tokyo to Chicago B777-300 Business Cradle Seat 7G. The seat is comfortable in relaxing position and sleeping position but it isn't 180 degree flat. No amenities kit only a sweater. The blanket is well designed and pillow is one of the best. Food and drinks excellent and choice of Japanese and Western menus. Of course Japanese menu much better. IFE choice are not very extensive but still okay. Restrooms are clean but amenities limited. Flight attendants are courteous efficient and asking if you need something.

Narita-Beijing on A320. Very friendly cabin crew cabin clean. Superb meal service and plenty of drinks.

NRT-MNL and back. Airline interiors seats carpet blankets were clean. Seats were a bit stiff though. Toilets were well-stocked and well-maintained. Cabin crew though appeared distant were accommodating and attentive. Some announcements made in perfect Tagalog which was pleasant to hear. Airline offers the latest magazine issues of famous titles in English and Japanese. Big disappointment was the food. The presentation looked very nice with the glass plates and delectable. But the main course was too sweet and too tangy. Good thing the appetizers were better.

New Boeing 777-300ER clean with a lot of legroom (seatback doesn't move back but the seat slides forward). Attendants very polite and courteous with good English skills. Dinner a choice between a Japanese or Western meal - Japanese meal seemed small but was filling. Frequent drink runs. Big personal entertainment touch screens with an OK selection of movies but didn't watch much because I managed to sleep for a couple of hours. No choice for breakfast - a combination between Western and Japanese food again it seemed small but was filling.

Singapore - Tokyo - Shonai return flight. On the international sector friendly and attentive cabin crew services good IFE nice japanese bento (meal boxes) inspired meals served Miso Soup for breakfast and snack pack given out between meals is good. On the short domestic sector it is good too - complimentary drinks and programmes on overhead TVs. On the ground ANA staff around to ensure everything is okay.

SHA-HND-SHA. On time very nice friendly service. IFE with several films and good music selection. Full meal for this short flight and good wine.
