"Horrible disorganized service"

"unhappy with the customer service"

Not Verified | Detroit to Miami with American Airlines. Extremely unhappy with the customer service and flight operations. I purchased my flight in August to fly in December 2018 only to find a few days before my flight that they have moved the departure/arrival time to later. Additionally, are telling me my only option for me and my girlfriend is that we must purchase two new tickets (with no refund to our originally purchased tickets). This would be adding an extra $400 to my trip cost because they moved the flight time to a new time that conflicts with my schedule. Naturally, I called customer service for them to only continually repeat that they cannot refund or provide me with another flight without buying new tickets. Despite my best attempts to ask other questions, I was interrupted nearly every time I tried to speak. I told the customer representative that I understood their policy (having heard it 3-4 times by now) and wanted to ask other questions. Again, I was interrupted with "Merry Christmas" and then he proceeds to hang up the phone.

"Completely unorganized"

Trip Verified | American Airlines from Chicago to Miami. Seriously, probably one of the worst airline companies. Pretty comparable to Spirit. 3 days of cancellations, missed connections and horrible service. Completely unorganized. The staff looks like they seriously dislike their jobs too. What a terrible experience. This airline is sinking quick!

"planes are old and in bad shape"

Trip Verified | Dallas Ft Worth to McAllen. American Airlines has by far the lowest quality planes in the fleet of any airline. The planes are old and in bad shape, the customer service is far below any customer standards. Customer satisfaction is not a priority for AA, not even close.

"never fly American with kids"

Trip Verified | LaGuardia to Chicago. I was appalled to find out that unlike every other airline I have ever flown, American makes passengers with infants wait and board at the back of the plane. Clearly they care more about their premium passengers than families and is no longer a family friendly airline. I will never fly American with kids again.

"Absolutely horrible experience"

Not Verified | Absolutely horrible experience! Started at 3am when nobody shows to check our bags - almost missed our flight except our 5 am departure gets delayed until 11am! We go eat breakfast only to get alert update that our flight is now taking off at 8am? We rush to make flight only to sit at terminal waiting for all other passengers. Missed our connection to DFW and following connection to Belize City - now waiting at DFW on our lost baggage. I could go on and on about courtesy and such but that was a total flop as well - never again American Airlines!

"eventually delayed about four hours"

Trip Verified | Washington to Baton Rouge via Charlotte. Awful. Flight was eventually delayed about four hours, though that information was only fed to us in hour-long chunks. The initial information concerning the delay came an hour before my scheduled departure. The cause of the delay was equipment malfunction, which American admits is entirely within its control. I was re-booked with a flight late the next day that involves an additional hour of layover, and an additional two airs in the air, in a middle seat. All escape row seats were available at the time of my rebooking, but I was explained that these are still only available for a fee. Further other earlier, direct flights, were available and offered to other travelers. No meal vouchers were offered. They offered lodging at the nearby Econolodge and Ramada, the shuttles for which were so small and infrequent that it took me 45-minutes to get from the airport to the hotel. A trip that should have taken three hours will now take 18, directly and solely as a result of American's ineptitude, and the only compensation they see fit to offer is a budget hotel, the commute to which detracts a further two hours from its use.

"Stay away from them"

Trip Verified | Newark to Orlando. We have just had bad experience with American Airlines and had to cancel our vacation, the flight was delayed and we missed connecting flight, and instead of helping and find some solution they told us to cancel our vacation. I was trying to find another person but they did not even talk to us, they were so rude and ignoring, they said they can not put us to another flight because it is overbooked and no compensation, no hotel or free meal, no sorry, will never fly with the company ever again. Stay away from them if you don’t want to ruin your vacation!!!!

"disgusting flying experience"

Trip Verified | Miami to Newark. I’ve never experienced such a disgusting flying experience. I was asked to tip the curb side check in by one of the attendants. I was then told my carry-on despite compliance was needed to be checked. After asking for my jacket to be hung up in an empty coat rack, they denied me. They didn’t add my TSA pre - check upon board with a child. I will never fly with American Airlines again.

"rude and not helpful"

Trip Verified | Terrible airline. I flew from Boston to Toronto via Laguardia. The plane was delayed for 2 hours in Boston, then they said that I would miss my connection from Laguardia to Toronto. They rerouted my to a flight from JFK to Toronto. When I arrived in Laguardia, they lost my bag and it took me two hours to retrieve it. Airline staff at Laguardia was rude and not helpful. I took a cab to JFK from Laguardia, when I arrived at JFK, I found out AFTER going through security that my flight to Toronto was cancelled. They sent me back to Laguardia, made me standby for two flights, neither of which materialised. There is no apology, no explanation, no compensation. I had to catch a flight from Toronto to Asia, and obviously I missed that and had to take care of the changes, and hotel stay at NYC.
