"worst airport I have ever experienced"

Not Verified | This airport is the worst airport I have ever experienced! On arrival it took over an hour for our luggage to reach the carousel and when it did it was soaking wet! The arrivals lounge was chaotic to the point that my party was put on the wrong coach to our resort! On departure, we were met by rude staff making us queue at the side and back of the departure desk, which we stood in for over an hour! We were then assigned seats all over the plane which if we had all been adults would have been fine, but apparently at Geneva they have no problem separating children (some as young as 3) with their parents! The cramped shops and restaurant area is awful, we were charged £75 for 5 soft drinks and 3 small bowls of pasta, when we said to pay in euros the bill was then €60 - strange exchange rate! The mile walk to the boarding gate and the then half hour queue through passport control (I have travelled throughout the world and passport control on departures is always straight after security not just before boarding), was made all that more exasperating as we when we were finally on the plane - and ensured that no child was sat without a parent - that the majority of our cases were left on the runway as we took off! One passenger was assured that the luggage was on the next flight out, which to be fair they were, but the next flight was to Manchester airport and we flew into Gatwick 200 miles away! As you can imagine on arrival at Gatwick with over 200 passengers and only 50 cases coming off the carousel this caused upset an mayhem! Geneva Airport you need to sort out your whole approach to customer service and customer satisfaction, I will never use your airport again!

"too crowded, no seats"

Not Verified | Worst airport I’ve ever travelled too. Too crowded and there are no seats or power outlets. Even to buy a bottle of water you need to walk the whole of the airport and can only buy them in a cafe or restaurant. Horribly run. Security line is the most inefficient thing I’ve ever seen. They have no area to repack your stuff after security and they don’t open the lines up in order. Meaning even if you’re first you get put behind the longest line and other people get in before you. Prices of everything will cost you a hand and a arm. A water bottle 50cl costs 6 Euros. I mean that’s ridiculous. Trash was over flowing with homeless people coming in and out scavenging for stuff. For a Swiss runners airport it may be the worst thing I’ve ever seen, and I’m not just talking about airports. It was also so hot inside the airport people were sweating which I ironic since it was almost snowing outside. They have no control or sense of awareness. I would definitely not recommend ever coming through this airport. Geneva should be prepared to handle the traffic much better since all the ski resorts come through here. Absolutely appalling. Also staff are rude and assume you should speak French and when you don’t it’s clear they talk bad behind your back because I actually speak French and they didn’t know.

"Busy and very few seating areas"

Not Verified | Far too hot when entering the security line which lasted for 35 minutes. Most of the flyers were skiers so all had large coats on and warm clothes. Busy and very few seating areas. Staff hurrying us to pay quickly in duty free shop (they were probably hot and bothered too!). Please turn the heating down. It’s exhausting and all I wanted to do is kick my shoes off and strip off to my t-shirt, instead of heading for a nice drink or look round the shops. You have lost my custom as a tourist inc buying refreshments.

"cannot cope with the numbers"

Trip Verified | 2 hours from arrival to departure gate - spent either queuing (1 hour) or walking down endless corridors. No time to even visit the loo. I have had to use both terminals at Geneva and they are both a nightmare. They cannot cope with the numbers. Avoid at all cost. Zurich is much better.

"overly busy airport"

Not Verified | Overly busy airport. Check in for easyJet is in 2 locations - why? Long queues getting in by any transport. Poor signage throughout the airport - gate sinage is especially poor. Lack of restaraunts and toilet facilities. Long walks to the terminal gates.

"Such long queues with no purpose at all"

Trip Verified | Ridiculous is not the word. How come the Swiss who preach the world of their services, standards and nuetrality be so inhumane. Such long queues with no purpose at all. The proud owner of precision watches cannot get this right. The third world as they want to call it is so much better. Come and experience our airports. For a change learn from us. We don't talk. Our deeds do the talking. A simple question to the Swiss state is, what have you done to overcome this menace which is causing such unpleasantness and difficulties to women, children, elderly and everyone. Where are the human rights you talk and preach. Such rude officials who are of no help whatsoever. You are heading towards stone age. Come South to experience development and humanity.

"Massive delay for luggage"

Trip Verified | Massive delay for luggage again on March 3rd. Skis took 2 hours - this was faster than other people arriving from London. Do not travel to or from Geneva on Saturdays or Sundays during the winter. Total chaos. 7 flights on my carousel. Staff taking breaks and no one to replace them. No one to inform passengers, total desorganization, luggage piling up, smells cigarette everywhere because they leave ashtrays by the doors, you can’t move around, it’s below everything I have seen.

Not Verified | Geneva airport has a massive problem with passport control. No automation, not enough staff, horrendous queues. Passport control is delaying flights. Really poor service. Fly to and from this airport regularly and it is a continual issue and is getting worse. Applies to both departures and arrivals. System is broken.

"inadequate eating and seating areas"

Not Verified | Totally inadequate eating and seating areas. Honestly thought the eating area was temporary it felt that shambolic. Cramped airport in every respect. Claustrophobic. Lengthy walks to easyJet terminal with no warning how long it would take. One of worst airport experiences - never want to return to Geneva airport.

"Most ridiculous disembarking procedure"

Trip Verified | Most ridiculous disembarking procedure at GVA Airport. Our plane from a domestic flight from Zurich arrived at the remote terminal and we disembarked through a gate bridge. Much to our astonishment, we had to leave the terminal to get on a bus which did not bring us right to the main building, but left us at the far end of Gate C so that we had literally to walk the longest way possible at Geneva airport to the baggage claim. It is not the first time that I had to go through such a procedure in Geneva, but in all other cases the bus would at least take you directly to the main building. I really do not understand how you could even think about such a procedure particularly given the flight was already delayed at take off.
