Frankfurt Main Airport

✅ Trip Verified | Arrived from Tel Aviv to Frankfurt and had a short connection to Poznan (1 hour). Made my way straight to Zone A (schengen zone) and the cues were huge. After waiting 45 minutes and with 20 minutes or so left to gate closure, and with the line barely moving, I asked one of the personnel to help me. At no point did anyone call for short connection flights. He whisked me through to an EU passport line although my passport was Canadian. Around 15 minutes later made it to the booth only be to be turned back in a very rude and aggressive manner by the very unprofessional police border agent. I missed the flight and had to wait 10 hours for the next one, only for that flight to be delayed as well. The flight gate was changed without any announcements. This airport is an absolute mess. Avoid like the plague. This is my third or fourth time coming to this airport, and with each trip something like this has to happen. I strongly encourage you to avoid and they need to work hard to make things better if their reputation is to get better.

Not Verified | Awful experience. The employees do not care at all. There are huge lines at the passport control and instead of increasing the desks, they close some. I was telling them that I will lose my connecting flight due to huge lines and all the employees were saying that it is not their job. I asked them at least to tell me if my flight is delayed and I can still get on and they were saying they so not know and cannot ask! Lufthansa sent me an email about the change of the departure gate, but could not inform about a 20-30 minutes delay. I was running with a 4 year old in order to catch the flight. At some point she started complaining that her stomach hurt because of all the running. And all this to find out that there was a delay, that nobody informed us of. If they cannot or do not want to service all these flights properly, they should not schedule them.

Not Verified | I travel frequently and avoid Frankfurt airport whenever possible. The transit pathways between A, B, C gates in Terminal 1 are poorly designed and massively inefficient. Shuttle buses are not frequent and immigration lines are long. If you have 1.5 hours or less and are coming into Schengen from overseas then at some point you’ll be running to make your connecting flight. Lounges are over crowded. Infrastructure is poorly designed and poorly maintained, if at all. Overall, one of the worlds worst airports.

✅ Trip Verified | FRA Airport unfortunately has tumbled into a chaotic, unorganised and dirty place to arrive as well as to start another flight. Outdated infrastructure, staff obvious nervous and tired, F&B stores closing at 2pm in front of upset passengers, baggage handling upon arrival is a real nightmare. So all ingredients together making it a place to avoid.

Not Verified | One of the worst airports I have ever been in. We are experienced travellers but still missed a flight when the gate was changed with no announcement even though our destination remained on original departure gate. That little mistake cost us $1000 rebooking tickets plus a loss of five hours, the help we received was practically zero. Security is long and officious, facilities are well below international standard and signposting is terrible.

✅ Trip Verified | Avoid this disorganized third world experience if at all possible. Too many choke points organized confusion bad signage and argumentative staff. It needs a massive 21st century make over to correct all its ills. Taking the bus to a plane is so 1980s For a major hub and excellent Lufthansa service this is right out of the book for what you shouldn't do to engender a good airport experience. It is now my flyover airport on future trips!

✅ Trip Verified | Although the airport is consumer friendly and clean, but when you reach the Z zone 58 to 69 on a Friday afternoon you will find that all the restaurants and shops are closed. Only one unmanned restaurant seems to be in business but close often for no reason, and disappear for hours.

✅ Trip Verified | As a frequent user of this airport for almost two decades, I can say that it’s one of my least favourite airports in the world. It’s even fair to say that this airport is an embarrassment for Germany given that’s its main hub. Poorly designed: lots of narrow stairs where there should be escalators, where there are escalators, they rarely work, long corridors that sometimes lead to nowhere. Usually long, disorganised queues. Misleading signposting. Check in, security and boarding processes usually very rude and inefficient. Be prepared to get yelled at. In Terminal 2, security is in the middle, after the lounges, which is very inconvenient as you may underestimate the time required for security and therefore risk missing your flight Inadequate toilet facilities, usually long queues for tiny spaces. Transport between Terminals is by bus that is usually jam packed with passengers and suitcases. The train that is supposed to connect the terminals never really runs. The bus stop for the inter-terminal transfer at Terminal 2 is a smoking area. Strong tobacco smell in other parts of the airport too. They charge for luggage carts, if the machine works. I gave up after a few minutes. Poorly connected to the city centre which is actually nearby if the trains were reliable

Not Verified | Horrible design for two terminals. Had to leave the airport to get to the other terminal and very limited seating. Worst airport I’ve been to in my life.

Not Verified | The People are friendly, the airport is clean, and that is where the positive stops. I can't walk that good and this Airport is the worst I have ever been in. Short escalators, stairways everywhere and worst of all, no Shuttles. Shameful to be so descriptive to old and handicap people.
