✅ Trip Verified | Extremely long queues at unneeded security checks will result in you missing flights if you have short connection times. Security checks are invasive and disgusting with people groping your private areas. Avoid this airport at all costs, don't fly Lufthansa as this is their main airport.

✅ Trip Verified | My travel agent said the flight from JFK and the connecting flight to India will be parked near to each other, but my flight from JFK was parked in B concourse and it is a really long hike from B to Z. Even after running most of the way, it took almost 25 mins to reach the security checkpoint. So, you need at least 2 hours for transit. But, I had 2 hours transit for my return journey to US. But again, the flight from Bangalore was parked in B23, and this time, with my family, it took 30 mins to reach the security checkpoint. Not sure why, but they had just 5 security areas opened for screening, and as you can imagine, it was a really horrible experience, spending almost 1hour 10 min waiting in the security line, with almost all incoming flights reaching around the same time. Security check as such was very slow, with each passenger spending anywhere between 5 - 8 mins with the security staff. I managed to board the flight, after running again all the way to the gate with kids, but soon after we boarded, they closed the gate. So it was just because we (the whole family) literally ran all the way and we were really lucky! If you are flying through Frankfurt, you need at least 2.5 hours for a peaceful transit, considering the fact that sometimes the incoming flight gets parked in B. I won't recommend flying through Frankfurt if travelling to Asian countries, especially with kids. Middle east is a much better option, with a lot of help from ground staff.

Not Verified | My Lufthansa flight was delayed in Pula Croatia due to weather conditions in Frankfurt. I tried to speak with someone on the phone, who assured me my flight was not delayed as it hadn’t been updated on her software. This was 20 minutes after we were supposed to depart and she assured me everything was fine. I hung up not wanting to waste anymore time, thinking thanks, how helpful. I get to Frankfurt airport and sure enough I miss my flight. Long corridors with no clear signs, I waited in a customer service line for 30 minutes, just for a man to say we were all in the wrong line. Right. I decide to call Lufthansa and reschedule a flight for the next day, (I totally recommend as it’s much faster) then had to stand in another line for an hour and a half to arrange overnight hotel stay. Once I get to the hotel, we stand in line for over an hour, as everyone was sent there due to bad weather conditions and needed a place to stay. I wake up early the next day and I decide to go the airport 2 hours early and thank god I did, because I barely made it to the gate on time. The security staff and police are lazy, inconsiderate and don’t give a damn that lines are long. How can all of the other international airports I’ve flown through operate so well and Frankfurt so poorly? Worst airport I’ve ever been too and totally inefficient, which is a surprise for Germany. Avoid at all costs. By the way, I’m writing this on the plane, where we have to wait 40 minutes before taking off because there is a backlog of planes trying to take off. Seriously just don’t bother, you’re guaranteed to miss a flight. I’ll say it again, avoid at all costs.

Not Verified | Worst airport ever! Slowest security lines in the world. Only one security lane open for processing hundreds of people. Lots of missed flights due to long queues. Get there at least 4 hours early or better yet avoid this Airport!

✅ Trip Verified | I now use Frankfurt airport more frequently, what I thought on the first few times to be bad luck is now confirmed to be fundamental flaws in how this airport is operated. Does not matter if you have priority boarding or not, get ready to face a chaotic and slow security check every time. How to get better: Training of staff, more staff, more security booths open, better distribution of furniture, better signage, concierge keeping people informed, more trash bins, clear info about the security check, a flexible queuing system or just visit an efficient airport and see how it's done. Also if by some special alignment of the stars you get in with some time to spare the selection of places to sit, shop, or eat are dismal. For a city that wants to cash in on Brexit and have tons of large events this is just crazy. Avoid if you can, come in earlier if you cannot. PS: write this waiting in the queue (again) and only moved 3mts down the queue for security.

✅ Trip Verified | I almost missed my connection flight from Frankfurt to Dubai. I had to run around because there was no airport member of staff around who would give any information. To get to the boarding gate I had to run around for nearly 1 km with poor signage. The security check (for transit coming from London) was horrendous, only 2 belts with long queue and the security staff were unprofessional.

✅ Trip Verified | Airport is crawled, and it is difficult to move. Worst is security control, people working there seem not happy at all and treat customers almost in a disrespectful way. Furthermore they are really slow. And of course, Ryanair, the worst airline company for many reasons. Leaving 1 hour late, almost without any excuse

✅ Trip Verified | I had the worse travel experience ever in the Frankfurt International Airport! Arrived at 6:45 in the morning and my flight departs at 9:55 am. After I arrive I just simply went to the toilet then get my boarding pass and check in my bag. It takes more than 30 mins waiting to check in my bag which is a self checkin no one even helps, slow but still acceptable. Then I started to went through the security which is a disaster. The queue was long and going extremely slow. Many people are jumping the line but no ones there to control the queue. After 1.5 hours of waiting, I almost get to the security counter. But the security suddenly closed the 2 counters of 5 because it’s their lunch time! I was inside the check area but they kicked my out and close the door no matter I told them how rush I were. Their attitude is bad and like they don’t even care if you can get on your flight! They yelled and argued with other passengers like a kid. Not professional at all and their attitude just make everyone feels like they don’t deserve the job! They act more like a kid than a professional airport security guard. If they saved the time of arguing with those passengers who're in a rush they could have just done their job so more people can make their flight! I ended up missing my flight even though there’s like 3 hours between my 2 flights. Please think about carefully before you choose this airport as a transit port unless you want to miss your connecting flight and being treated rudely. In terms of airport sitting, the command area seats are very limited and always full, I have no choice but to buy some food in a restaurant so I can get a seat. WiFi is bad at this airport, it was disconnected all the time so I have to use my own data. In general, I don’t recommend this airport at all, it doesn’t meet the standard as a big international airport and such a huge transit port.

✅ Trip Verified | I had to transit via Frankfurt twice during my last trip. Despite having almost two hours between flights, thanks to the staff at FRA, I've managed to miss my connecting flight once and came close the second time. Crowd control staff in red vests will point you to a queue, then when approaching the end of the queue, will arbitrarily decide to push you to another longer queue by telling you that this counter is close. From your new queue, you watch this bold face liar reopen the previous queue to newly arriving passengers. You stare helplessly as passengers arriving after you proceed through immigration before you. 15 minutes later, you make it through but miss your flight. Security personnel checking your belongings are plentiful. But most stand around chatting and laughing amongst themselves. Every 5-10 minutes they decide to swap roles. Of course they have to have a casual chat before continuing. It is also absolutely necessary to x-ray a 5 year old girl then insist on patting her down after. Police at immigration checks can't manage a courteous response to 'Hello'. Overall, worst airport experience in my 10 years of travel. Will try to avoid in the future. So much for German efficiency.

✅ Trip Verified | Frankfurt Main Airport is an apparent maze of buildings and terminals with constant extension and construction work ongoing. It can be confusing on first impression. However, some 70 million passengers are serviced each year because it is simply efficient. Quick immigration through electronic or 'manned' counters, security thorough but friendly and swift. Very busy departure lounges where a seat may become a luxury but moderately priced coffee shops serve local produce such as pretzels and sandwiches. I strongly prefer this to the otherwise ubiquitous international chains. Minimum layover time is 1 h which is remarkable for such a huge airport. And we never had a suitcase lost or misdirected in FRA.
