"she would not let me board"

Trip Verified | Never fly this airline. They treat business class customers horribly. The flight was departing at 5:59. I had a connecting flight and made it there at 5:49. Since the “lady” had taken me out of the computer less than 15 seconds after she called me, she would not let me board. While the plane was sitting there she closed the door on me. The plane sat there for another 20 minutes. I had 2 kids waiting for me and needed to make care arrangements. Choose another airline.

"absolutely never fly American again"

Trip Verified | Worst airline ever. Delayed our flight to Charlotte by over an hour. Arrived in Charlotte with half of our flight with connections. Sprinted from our gate in terminal C to terminal E to get to our gate with 10 minutes prior to departure. No employee working at the gate. Over 5 people on our flight trying to catch a connection and not even someone at the gate 10 minutes prior. All of the people on our flight had to be issued an overnight stay voucher and a new flight. Talk about a waste of money and poor management on Americans behalf. They gave us a $12 meal voucher to “cover” breakfast and dinner. $12! Supervisor was incompetent and rude. Went to go get our luggage since we are being forced to stay overnight so my mom has her medication. Have been waiting over two hours for our bags to show up at customer service and missed our shuttle to the Comfort Inn they booked us at. Will absolutely never fly American again. Would rather drive from Phoenix to Cleveland than waste my money on them again.

"No respect to the paying customer"

Trip Verified | Ask for a window seat because I just had surgery on left arm. Tried to pick seat online but was trying to charge me extra for seats which seat Choice is already included in price. After arriving at airport was booked for middle seat. Now I am having to fight the person next to me to quit bumping my arm. No respect to the paying customer, it's all about who is willing to pay the extra money to choose a seat. I will cancel my up coming flights on American and go with united.

"never choosing American Airlines again"

Not Verified | We booked 2 round trip tickets to Austin from Seattle. The return flight was cancelled. We called American Airlines and was told the only flights leaving to Seattle were going out of Dallas, which was in the process of being flooded by a flash flood. We were told no flights were available leaving Austin. Before we realized that all flights leaving Dallas were being cancelled, we accepted a flight out of Dallas. Then we got word they were all being cancelled and went on line and found an American Airlines flight out of Austin so booked it and drive to the airport. Once there, we were told the AA flight out of Austin didn’t actually exist. They booked us on an Alaska Airlines flight to get back home and charged us two return flight tickets. We were told we wouldn’t be charged for the return flights from Dallas, but that was a lie. We were charged for two round tickets and two separate tickets to actually get back home. We tried to get a refund for the return flights on the round trip that never happened and are getting the run around. The only way to submit for it is to have the airline ticket numbers, which we don’t have because they were sent electronically and are no longer accessible. Part of the problem was Priceline, who booked the Austin flight that didn’t actually exist. We are never choosing American Airlines again. Not worth the “savings!”

"they will not refund my tickets"

Trip Verified | I booked and paid for tickets for our family for a once in a lifetime trip to Belize. Our flight on June 18 was canceled due to staffing issues. It was rebooked for June 20 but canceled again due to staffing issues. They tried to rebook us for June 22 but by this point we would only have 3 days of our 7 day vacation in Belize. As a result of American Airlines, we lost $12,000 in hotel, excursions and local Belize flights! To make it worse, they will not refund my tickets, they want to offer flight credits. My family will never be able to use these credits in the next 10 months. They ruined our vacation, cost me $18,000 and won’t even speak to me live on the phone. Their customer service department does not speak to customers. You are forced to communicate via email. This is the worst airline company on the planet!

"A child cannot travel unaccompanied"

Trip Verified | I am a mother and travelled with my 2 underage children, a 13-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old son, the company had the nerve to put my daughter seated separate from me, with 3 unknown men, I begged them to be placed together and the only answer I got from the flight attendants was that I would have to find someone who wanted to change seats with me. A child cannot travel unaccompanied and the company has to take care of this when buying the ticket, the commissioners have to solve the problem and not just throw the problem for me to solve, dishonesty is the least bad of words to describe this absurdity, my daughter having to travel alongside 3 unknown men, on a night fly of approximately 10 hours.

"everything to get them to correct this mistake"

Not Verified | I made a reservation for 8 people. When I got the conformation email instead of the 16th the tickets were for the 19th, and only one of the twins were listed. I called American back who charged me $50 a ticket to correct their mistake. I got a confirmation email with correct dates. On the morning of our vacation I was told the tickets were for the 19th and I was charged another $285 per ticket. I had proof on my phone of a charge AA had no record of. I have tried everything to get them to correct this mistake and of course even though I can prove it they can do nothing. Fly Delta. Those on vacation with us had trouble with AA canceled and used Delta. I wish I had done that.

"pilot did not tell us what was going on"

Trip Verified | The plane shook side to side jiggling us around forcefully for 3 hours. I looked out the window, it was clear and there didn’t seem to be any wind turbulence. After over a full hour, watching the stewardess whisper behind the wall, the pilot announced that the plane was having technical difficulties and said he would have to turn the plane around and land, about an hour or so away, in Phoenix. We landed in Phoenix and we were deplaned. After about an hour, they boarded us back onto the same plane that was having technical difficulties. We sat on the plane for about 20 minutes and then they decided to deplane us again. They boarded us on a different plane and we flew from Phoenix to OKC airport. The lady in the seat next to me started to panic and pray; this is how bad the plane was jiggling us around for three hours. American Airlines is the worst it’s ever bee, and it’s never been that great!! The hardest part was the fact that the pilot did not tell us what was going on For over an hour.

"Another disaster flying an American flight"

Trip Verified | Another disaster flying an American flight in first class with American Airlines unable to provide sufficient bandwidth on an hnl to lax flight (16 August 2022). It really doesn't take much for American airline businesses to provide superior anything; that is unless you're flying AA. What corporate operation head holds such a position that the responsible head does not have a clue how to assure sufficient inflight broadband, should be terminated. You're on nearly a five hour flight back, and unable to watch or listen to entertainment. Wait, AA though makes sure you're forced to watch three of it's push ad commercials though beforehand with broadband. Then the first class flight attendant in the sky delivers, "Unless you jump on real fast there are those who cannot connect through." Throwing salt on the wound. The inflight entertainment and information pamphlet doesn't state access is limited. It's a go count the sand grains insult. This type of poor service reminds me of my last International business class flight in January 2020 on Cathy Pacific. AA offers nothing special in the air or on the ground. EVA home runs every American airline business out of the air. AA is the last airline I would recommend anyone flying. Thank you AA for turning what I was hoping to be a great experience cap into one of go count the sand grains American Airlines. Good job on proving support that the American airline business is just as horrible as ever.
