LHR-KLIA-Yogyakarta-Denpasar Bali return. LHR to KL - check in at LHR was by Alitalia -
attempted online check in 24 hours before - not allowed access. On checking in at terminal 3 ,
three hours before flight, myself and partner were not given seats together - told by a rather
indifferent Alitalia check in person that as we were a group booking we were allocated a block
booking and it was up to us to change seats with others in the party - statement incorrect as
all 17 of us were scattered throughout the 747. Pre ordered veg meals only arrived twice in
four flights - and then only after having to request them on boarding and they would "see what
they could do" - pointed to my confirmed e ticket which stated VGML on all segments. LHR-KUL
and KUL-LHR good on demand IFE seatback with excellent choice. KUL to Java and Bali to KUL
B737-300 no IFE and rather elderly aircraft and seats. They ran out of red wine and the meal
selection after row 6, it was chicken like it or dont like it - but staff apologetic. Delayed
1 hour out of LHR and 2 hrs out of Bali - very little info given at Bali regarding delay but
made to go to gate and wait. Made for a very tight connection and a sprint the length of KUL
airport to the LHR flight. Cabin crew excellent on all legs - many water runs during the
night flight home, always in the aisles asking anyone awake if they wanted anything. In all a
little disappointing for a 5 star airline (Alitalia check in and delays), but cabin crew and
IFE made up for it to a degree.

MEL-KUL-CDG economy. MEL-KUL crew fed us and them disappeared. KUL-Paris leg they were about
more and seemed more attentive. Because I have a disability, I booked seat 11J over and back.
This meant I had extra leg room and was able to access the Business class toilet, which was
closer for me than walking down the back. The staff on both legs were very helpful and
attentive. On arrival in Paris my wheelchair had been damaged during the flight, and Malaysia
Airlines were very good and accepted responsibility.

Singapore-Kuala Lumpur-Tokyo return. KL-Tokyo catering poor, entertainment choice limited,
and cabin service rush. Tokyo-KL Japanese crew serving my aisle is thoughtful and smily, but
food portion is extra small! You can also see some cost cutting like no more hot towels
welcome drink and peanuts. But to be fair now their fares are more competitive and affordable
when compare to the past.

AKL-KUL-HKT and return. Got a very good fare on this flight and was very impressed. 777 from
AKL to KUL. Charming crew who were witty and warm. The satay course is always something to
look forward to and a perfect quick meal for those who want to sleep. The cabin was only half
full and the pro-active crew were obviously bored and talked me into a mid flight snack of
prawn noodle soup which was excellent. Seat was comfy for a day flight and just ok for the
night sector KUL-AKL. KUL-HKT on 737 and while an older aircraft with no IFE, it was
absolutely fine for the quick 1 hour flight. All flights on time or early. Boarding at KUL
is great with the lounge staff waiting till the last moment to announce the flight, which
meant no queues at the gate. We literally stepped on board, the doors were shut and we were
away. Perfect. It's obviously the crew who make this airline a five star. I just wish they
would install true flat seats and give noise cancelling headphones to premium passengers.

PVG-KUL economy return on old A330. Waited 40 minutes for Checked in at Shanghai Pudong
Airport then 30 minutes for baggage at KL Airport. No AVOD for 5 hrs flight, not enough news
papers and magazine. Crew friendly but food was not good.

EWR-ARN-KUL in economy class. Equipment was an old B744. Legroom was adequate and the footrest
was handy. However seat width left a little to be desired. The inflatable lumbar support in
the seatback sort of made up for it. Inflight catering was superb and I was certainly well fed
even on a long flight like this (I had four meals, lots of drink services, and a 'midnight'
snack). Flight attendants (both crew sets) were cheerful and courteous. Overall a good flight
- better if the product was upgraded. (NB: this flight has been suspended since Oct 1).

SGN-KUL-SGN in economy. Flight to KUL on time and full. Plane an old 737-400 and looked and
felt its age, no inflight entertainment, so felt like a budget airline. Cabin crew were
friendly enough, but didn't respond well to simple requests, like asking for extra napkins.
Food on flights was a choice of satay chicken or beef with fried rice. It was very tasty, but
a bit spicy for our young children. Ordered kids meals on return flight and my wife pre-booked
the non-spicy option and this was much better. Would advise others to do same if you don't
feel like something spicy on a plane. Transfers to and from the centre of KL were a dream, but
not quite as good as Hong Kong. KLIA Ekspres was great and very competitively priced. Check-in
at KL Sentral Station was fast and efficient. If anything, the only disappointments were the
lack of inflight entertainment on the old aircraft and KL airport - there's nothing to do if
your flight leaves from the main terminal (ie: not the satellite terminal). Only food
available to eat was duty free chocolate or hot dogs - give me Changi Airport any day. The
real bonus was the price of the flights and the convenient time that they left.

BKK-KUL-DPS in economy. Initial flight from Bangkok was fine. Old and outdated 737 but had
bulkhead seat with decent legroom. Punctual departure and reasonable hot meal and drinks
service. It all went wrong at KL. After assembling at the boarding lounge at the gate we were
told there would be a slight delay due to a technical fault with the aged 737. Eventually
after waiting at the gate for nearly an hour with no information, we were told the flight
would be delayed 4 hours while they arranged a replacement aircraft. We had to then queue up
to get meal vouchers which were worth the sum of 20 ringits. We finally took off over 4 hrs
late on a new 737-800 (tight seating) and arrived at Denpasar at 10.30pm instead of 6.30pm.
The use of old planes (and inherent unreliability) plus evidence of cost cutting means I will
not use Malaysia Airlines again.

AMS-KUL-PEN return in business class. Service on all flights was excellent. However, both
long-haul sectors were delayed for up to 4 hours. The major problem here is that online
booking of a through ticket for a journey commencing in Ireland is not possible with Malaysia.
I had a separate ticket for DUB-AMS-DUB, which was no use to me when I missed my AMS-DUB
flight. Perhaps Malaysia might address this problem. I would be inclined in to use Singapore
Airlines for this trip in future. With Singapore, I can book a through ticket on-line to
travel from Ireland to anywhere on their system. This is a significant advantage.

Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok on the evening flight. The economy cabin was 100% full. The food
served was satay - very surprising as I was served cheap looking sandwiches when I travelled
with them last year on this section. The aircraft was old and Malaysian hospitality was
lacking in some crew members. Only a few of the crew members smiled sincerely throughout the
whole flight.

KUL-BKK a good experience on both flights. Crew very friendly and clean planes. The seats are
very confortable and food good. Compared with Air Asia I'm sure I will fly with Malaysia
Airlines again.
