Just travelled on new A380 KUL-LHR and I wasn't that impressed. The interior is very plastic and cheap looking and the seats aren't that comfy either. I'm disappointed with MAS as I expected more given the fact this is now their flagship plane. The service and food was ok but one thing I noticed was all drinks are served straight from a can or bottle and this is clearly a cutback. The entertainment system is ok but is not a patch on what you get if you fly on the Emirates A380.

Sydney to Frankfurt return, three legs on a 777 and one on a 747. All aircraft's were clean and well maintained and the service excellent, particularly so on the Kuala Lumpur to Sydney leg. The seats, though angled lie-flat, were both spacious and comfortable - and they had plenty of leg-room. I also can't fault either the in-flight catering or the lounges at Frankfurt or Kuala Lumpur. One area that Malaysia could improve on however is its IFE - as the English language movie selection is both limited and mainstream. This is only a minor criticism on what was a very positive overall experience.

DPS-KUL-KUA; A330 for the first leg, 737 for the second. Check-in at DPS efficient, the lounge is somewhat sterile as it is on the ground floor with no windows, but the food was reasonable. Cabin crew on the first leg was excellent. AVOD was a little clunky but food was good. KUL has a dedicated immigration line for passengers in the business cabin and although our final destination was in Malaysia, we did not have claim checked bags to clear customs. Second leg to KUA was 25 minutes in the air and they served a light meal. Hassle free travel. Will fly them again when we have the opportunity.

I've been on several trips LAX-KUL over the last 12 months. Cabin crew friendly and attentive. The entertainment systems are well maintained and up-to-date. Seats are not very comfortable (granted, it is a 14 hour flight, but ANA's seats are superior for NRT-ORD). The planes are older, and it shows in the cabin fit and finish. The food is bad. Loyalty program ("Enrich") is worthless - can only get upgrades when you've already paid for business or 1st class enough times. Limited "Golden Lounges" cost 14000 points or roughly 1 return ticket LAX-KUL.

Penang to Shanghai. Cabin clean and well-maintained, although aircraft is B737-400 (Penang to Kuala Lumpur) and B777-200 (Kuala Lumpur to Shanghai). Cabin crew are polite and friendly. The food served was delicious and the in-flight entertainment was interesting. Landed on time.

Perth to KUL (and back) on the new A330-300. Comfortable and warm cabin as well as generous seat pitch. The flight was nearly full yet the cabin crew were hospitable and friendly, managing requests efficiently. Good choice of movies and TV shows to keep me entertained on the flight and overall tasty food.

A380 from KUL to LHR on 14th July. Boarding was easy and I like the fact that Malaysian Airlines let people board as and when after one goes through the security rather than other airlines that make you sit and board according to seat number. I booked a seat in Economy on the upper deck but was given a seat on the main deck instead. The layout of the plane is very similar to SQ Airbus. I had seat 73J which is emergency exit seat but no window. The seat is a bit awkward as its a 2 seater but behind me was a 3 seater and the window seat behind me has the same legroom as me. The cushioning is a bit hard. As I sat at the emergency exit row, it was next to the galley and the entire trip there's some sort of commotion and noise which kept me awake. The personal TV screen is bigger than the 747, however you can only move the screen up and down but not left/right. The screen should be better placed on my right rather than my left. The tray is also located under the left armrest rather than right armrest. Therefore I felt sorry for the person sitting to my left. The seat does not recline as much as the older aircraft, you are practically still sitting upright even when reclined. I would still use MAS because I normally do LHR-KUL and also want to try the upper deck, but if you are not too fussed about the noise, then do the 747 instead.

Flight MH 0149 on 19 June 2012 from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne (Tullamarine). The aircraft was a new A300 333. The International Golden Wing Lounge was closed for renovations but the Regional Lounge was available and it has very good facilities. Departure time was delayed for 30 minutes, at no fault of the airline. Due to anticipated tail winds the expected arrival time in Melbourne was not going to be in the allocated 1/2 hour time slot at Melbourne. thus the delay. The cabin had a great look with very nice lighting and a 2x2x2 seat configuration. The seats were Recaro lay flat seats that only lay flat to and angle of around 20 degrees. They are comfortable for sitting with plenty of leg room but as I am over 180cm tall they were not the most comfortable for sleeping. It was an over night flight. The on screen entertainment system was excellent with a large choice of movies and TV shows plus the usual flight tracker. Food and drinks were excellent with a good choice of food and an excellent choice of wines and spirits, including French Champagne. There was very light loadings in Business, only 14 passengers, and service was excellent. Arrival in Melbourne was on time. Overall a very good flight.

B777-200. KUL-CDG. Midnight flight at 11 pm. Supper served shortly after take off. The cabin is clean and well-maintained, although the aircraft is showing its age. Cabin crew are polite and attentive. Snack box is given but you can go to the galley to ask more. Prayer room are provided. PTV's are well contained, with selections of movies and music. Took nasi lemak for breakfast. Landed on time.

I travelled Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Kuala Lumpur on 27 May 2012 on MH 0148. The flight was Golden Wing Class (Business) in a new A 300 333. The cabin has an excellent ambience with Recaro lay flat seats in a 2x2x2 configuration. The seats do not lay flat but a a 20 degree incline. However, they were very comfortable for sitting. There was a great on screen entertainment system with a very large selection on Movies and TV shows plus the usual route checker. Services was excellent even though the plane was full. Food and wine were also very good with a good menu choice and wines including French Champagne. Arrival time was on time. The Business Lounge at Melbourne was very comfortable.

I flew on the LHR-KUL route on the Boeing 747-400 aircraft and the KUL-SIN route on the Boeing 737-300 aircraft. My first impression of the 744 was the interior products had seen better days and that the aircraft was very stuffy. The crew were rather dumpy and rude throughout the flight with the exception of one leading stewardess. The food was quite inedible and tasteless too. The nasi lemak was overcooked and the dessert never arrived although it was stated in the menu that it would. I was later told," Sorry, but we have ran out of ice-creams." As said on the website, hot towels and amenity kits would be served on all long-haul destinations, however they were never served. Inflight entertainment screen was very small and fuzzy. As well as that there were limited and poorly selected entertainment options. On the KUL-SIN sector, there was no entertainment source. The seat was leather and numerous cabin crew smiled and introduced themselves to fellow customers. There was no meal on this flight, which was acceptable. Instead, peanuts and juice were served. I doubt I will fly long-haul with MH again.

LHR-KUL-SYD Economy. LHR-KUL A380: exit seat lower deck (3-4-3), next to toilets, quite noisy with frequent visitors and families. A380 Seats harder/smaller than B777 and older MH planes. IFE is AVOD and touch screen. Upper deck economy more private (2-4-2). Food is average and stewardesses harried with such a large plane. Service and seats better (but not IFE) on older B747 once A380 novelty wears off (unless you are in biz or 1st class). KUL-SYD B777: Full flight, but food served has mixed reactions. If one is fine with M'sian meals, then it is great but otherwise Continental offerings average. IFE screen smaller than A380 but still works ok (but not comparable to EK). Overall, would recommended MH but flights during peak times very busy with service strained.

SYD-KUL-BKK return in business class. SYD-KUL on B777-200, KUL-BKK-KUL on B737-800, KUL-SYD on B747-400. Fast and friendly check-in at SYD with fast-track through immigration and security. Lounge staff in SYD very friendly. Regional lounge in KUL very nice with a good selection of food and beverages. Newly renovated international lounge in KUL is staffed by cabin crew now. It is very nice and spacious. Fast-track through immigration provided at BKK. Check-in at BKK was fast and friendly. MAS use the Thai lounge in BKK. B777-200 and B747-400 starting to show their age but aircraft are clean and well-maintained. B737-800 are new. Seats on all aircraft very comfortable. Managed to get a good amount of sleep on SYD-KUL-SYD sectors despite angled lie-flat seats. Cabin crew were consistently good throughout all flights, especially on the KUL- SYD flight. On-board catering was good and plentiful. Fast-track through immigration and customs in SYD on arrival very much appreciated and this meant getting through the airport in just a little over 15 minutes. Overall, an excellent product that could only be improved with new aircraft and updated seats that will offer flat beds.

First commercial flight from London to Kuala Lumpur on A380. The crew were very engaging and professional, food and service was of excellent quality. The new first cabin is warm and very comfortable. Beautiful materials such as velvet, wood floors and high quality cloth cover. Looking forward to the next flight.
