SIN-CGK. First of all the online booking. Just wonder how a national carrier still doesn't provide any online booking and online payment for customers. Luckily I'm flying with their new A330-200. The service is nice, they make a noticeable improvement from the last time I board Garuda for the same route 8 months ago. The plane is new, hence it's still very nice and cozy. FA's service is reasonably good. Food served is good, but not especially well. Baggage claim in CGK required me to wait for about 30 minutes to get my baggage.

CGK-SIN-CGK Economy Class. CGK-SIN using Boeing 737-800, aircraft nice and clean, courteous and attentive service from flight attendant, breakfast delicious, continuous drink service offered. SIN-CGK on new A330-200 with the new “nature wing” livery, all seats equipped with AVOD IFE, inflight service felt more like a 5-star airline, delicious food and excellent flight attendants.

Jakarta to Batam on B737. Cabin was clean, food was nice Indonesian cuisine, FAs are very friendly and helpful. No PTVs, but overhead TVs that offered short movies. Seat pitch and width okay.

Sydney to Denpasar in March, April, July and October this year. We have flown a mix of economy and business class and we have been very happy with their service. We looked at Jetstar but you have to pay extra for meals, extra for TV, extra for drinks - this is all standard with even Garuda economy class.

CGK-BKK in Economy Boeing 737-400. Flight on time, good inflight service. 2 tasty choices offered for lunch with continuous drink service. Pillow, blanket and headsets for the inflight music/film were distributed - no inflight magazine. Overall, a good flight experience and hopefully they will use their new plane (Boeing 737-800 NG or A 330-200) on this route as the flight is 3.5 hours & it will be good to have AVOD IFE available.

CGK-DPS return over peak holiday period. Apart from older aircraft service felt more like SQ than Garuda. FAs gave good service and seemed to know what they were doing. Punctuality excellent on both legs. Tasty hot lunch served and coffee offered afterwards. The FF/business lounge in DPS has been much improved since last year. Garuda seem to have turned a corner recently and the decline of recent years is being rectified. Only the old 737-400 used prevents me giving 10/10.

Singapore to Jakarta. Very old Boeing 737-300 aircraft used. Food not fantastic, flight attendants' service was satisfactory though. But Garuda is one of the cheapest ways to get a flight from Singapore to Jakarta, so it's value for money

DPS-CGK with A330-300. Had a slight delay of 30 mins due to the late arrival from PVG. The cabin was clean and neat, seat pitch great but no PTVs. There were some IFE monitors attached on the ceiling. FAs were friendly and food was ok.

PVG-CGK on their new lie flat seat in business class. Their price in business class equal economy ticket price with SQ - can choose a seat and given a 40kg luggage allowance. The check in was quick, efficient. Food was nice, cabin ambience good, service very attentive, and seat reclined to 180 degree flat. They could improve their IFE (it's AVOD) and add flight info on their screen.

CGK-PNK. The flight departed on-time and the FA was nice and professional. Tasty lunch is the best value of that flight. Not pleased with old B737-300. In fact, I could see a white sellotape attached at the ceiling above my seat.

YOG-DPS, had booked via internet. flight was just 1hr, very friendly staff, nice lunch and on time. Garuda has been awarded the right to fly to Europe again, most likely a good alternative to Indonesia

CGK-PER Economy. Chose this flight because I thought it was the only direct routing from Jakarta to Perth other than Jetstar (who didn't fit with my trip dates). It was only a few days before travelling that I discovered GA now only fly from CGK to PER via Denpasar. This meant an extra couple of hours travel time each way, though this was the agent's fault for not informing me, not the airlines. Flights were fine. CGK-DPS legs were virtually empty both ways, DPS-PER very full. Both flights on the newer 737-800, and on the return journey there were seat-back video screens in Economy. These kept the kids amused, although there was no channel selection and the programming line-up for some reason consisted of the first 30 minutes of a film before it changed randomly to something else, then changed again, etc. Comfortable enough seats, friendly staff, good service, good food (especially PER-DPS). Only problem was a 3 hour delay leaving Perth on the way back (apparently the pilot was ill and they needed to find a replacement). Food vouchers given for the wait, and things went smoothly once we got going. Overall, I am happy with the experience, and would happily fly GA Jakarta to Perth again if they resume direct flights.

SUB-CGK-DPS-SUB. SUB-CGK, flew on their B737-800, very nice. cabin was great, seat pitch is great. No food, just snack and selection of drinks. FA was chatty and responsive. CGK-DPS sector on their latest A330-200. The aircraft was brand new, with new seats - the business class is a flat bed seat, economy class was improved had PTVs (finally) with a lot of movies and music. Some kind of curry for lunch which was tasty. The cabin was a real great improvement and the lavatory was clean. DPS-SUB was on B737-800 again.

Flew to Bali from Perth on a Boeing 737. Flight delayed 3 hours. Had to walk on the tarmac at Perth International Airport to get onto plane. Executive Class a waste of money. No headphones, no music, no movie. No menu (which you usually get in Executive or Business Class on other airlines). They had run out of immigration forms for Indonesia so we were forced to stand in line filling in our forms. Flew back to Perth Executive Class. Had headphones but music and movie not very good. Had menu this time. Trip home was better than going but will never fly Garuda again.

CGK-DPS-CGK. Flight to Bali on new Boeing 737-800, no IFE, no inflight magazine. Seat pitch is ok, service was efficient and quick, the fried rice served is a bit cold. Return flight to Jakarta on an old Boeing 737-300, again delayed for 20 minutes due to operational reason. Service was quick and food was ok, no IFE and inflight magazine as well. Had to wait for 15 minutes for the correct baggage conveyor belt as it was not clearly mention.

Booked and paid for return flight Sydney to Denpasar 2 months ago for Oct 2009. Main reason for choosing Garuda was availability of direct flights on required days. Travel agent informs us yesterday that return flight has been cancelled. No refunds allowed. Only flight on the same day was via Jakarta (adds 5 hours to flying time). Only option open to us is cut a day off our precious holiday (planned for a couple of years) and fly home the day before planned departure. Can't get refund on prepaid accommodation. Lost $150 on this deal. Haven't even got in the air with Garuda yet. Not very happy at all.
