I usually fly US Air to Hawaii from Indianapolis but could not find a flight to Dallas with anyone
but AA. I will never fly AA again. The smaller plane was cramped and uncomfortable. Once in
Dallas I had just landed and took transportation around to my next flight that was to board in 45
minutes. I met my friend and she said she was wondering if I would make it, as they were boarding
already. Was so hungry, but no time to get anything to eat. We were looking at and 8.5 hour
flight. Got a few snacks, and then the sandwiches were being passed out, or should I say purchased.
They served from the front of the plane to the back. Less than 2/3's of the way back they ran out
of sandwiches. I thought your kidding, as I watched the attendant shakes his head no to everyone as
he returned his cart to the rear of the plane. People were upset, and not only upset but hungry. I
spoke to the attendant and he offered me a candy bar, the reason he told me was AA was cutting back
as they did not want to throw food away at a loss. A candy bar for 6 more hours of flight, just not
acceptable. And like another person remarked, they do not give you enough space to type your
concerns so I just gave up.

Fresno - DFW in first. MD80s are showing their age, and the plane was in tatters. Duct tape on
anything that required repairs, and the silver doesn't really match the rest of the decor! Nice
seat pitch with enough legroom even after stowing large computer bag under seat in front of me.
Overhead bin on A-B side of aircraft is not as large as D-E-F side, and standard 22 inch rollaboard
has to be stowed sideways. As usual, no IFE on these MD80s, and that can make for a very boring
flight unless bring a book or your own video entertainment. Our plane must have been much older
than the others in the fleet, because it seemed like a Greyhound bus with wider seats. Service in
the front was mostly mechanical, and the flight attendant seemed disinterested in providing more
than minimum amount of assistance. Menu was a choice of either veggie pizza or BBQ beef sandwich,
with salad and no dessert. Flight attendant was in some kind of disagreement with one of her
colleagues serving in coach, and you could tell the frostiness spilled over to first class
passengers. Overall, a three-star performance by AA. Four stars for comfort and pitch of seat, but
two stars for lackluster service. The rule with AA these days is don't expect much and you won't be
disappointed.

BOS-LHR-JFK economy. Outbound flight departed Boston on time. 767's seats too small for this length
of flight, and no personal IFE. Cabin movie a cartoon. Cabin not full, seat next to me empty made
the trip okay. Arrival at LHR early. Return flight on 777, my flight was cancelled but they put me
on the next one. Why are 777 configured 2-5-2 and not 3-3-3 as with other airlines? Luckily I had
an aisle seat. Cabin half-empty, liked the pizza served before landing.

This a belated response to the November 21, 07 posting by Al Cutler re: check-in problems for
AAdvantage members. We have battled this since Spring of 07 when the system was changed to "prevent
abuse by some members." Now, the computer recognizes the AAdvantage status of the first person on
the reservation - all others are simply "companions." My husband and I are both ExPlat. members,
but the computer will not read me as having any status of my own, therefore, if we receive a
complementary upgrade prior to check-in, we cannot check-in on line or at a kiosk. It says that we
need upgrade credits. Since neither of us earn credits anymore (due to the ExPlat status), the
computer will allow him to check in, but not me. I've written and written Cust service, to no avail.
Otherwise we love AA.

Chicago-Buenos Aires r/t in Business Class on 767-300. My last few domestic trips on AA have shown
some improvement but they continue to be weak Internationally. Outbound flight left Chicago 2+ hours
late with no communication between gate Agents and Passengers. New-ish 767 was spotless and 11 hr
flight was made comfortable by a great flight crew and good food and plentiful drinks. Return flight
on time but that is the only positive I can mention. Dirty plane - cranky, bitter FA's and the food
a joke. The portions were meager and the dinner and breakfast tasteless. Cabin was way too warm to
sleep and IFE system is awful.

OGG-DFW-MEM. My first trip on AA in many months. While I fly a great deal, I am stuck in a NW hub
city and opt for direct, non-stop every time. Changed my return for this trip to avoid more than
one stop on my way home from HI. Plane was 45 minutes late out of OGG. No stated reason other than
late in bound. In spite of late departure we arrived DFW pretty much on time. Nice, though with a
2x2x2 configuration a bit cramped, first class (international business class) on 767. Fun seats
with almost full recline. Seats were a bit hard, but generally comfortable. No individual
entertainment center, but limited audio is available. FA's were old, tired and surly with no
customer interaction. Reading lights on starboard side were inop. Oh well. No individual air
controls, and most of us sweated our way to DFW. FA's quickly served dinner and then retired to
galley to chat. Sam Choy "inspired" food was just awful on this flight. Overcooked chicken with
nasty sauce. A packaged banana muffin for arrival "snack." In spite of late departure we arrived
DFW pretty much on time. 8:20 connection actually left/arrived early and my bag was there within 10
minutes of getting off the plane. MD-80 was old, but serviceable. Pleasant crew. Overall a fair
value. AA delivered on its promise to get me from and to timely and safely. I won't go out of my
way in the future to make them my primary carrier, though.

Miami - Los Angeles. Economy. Pure nightmare on a packed 757 one Saturday night. 757 is really too
small a plane for a flight over 5 hours long. Poor seat pitch. No free food (not used to 5+ hour
flight with no free food). At least drinks were free. $500 compensation from previously overbooked
flight made up for it though. Los Angeles -Hawaii Economy. Much better, in 767 with spare exit row
seat next to me. Cabin service ok although they didn't check if things were left on the floor in
front of the exits. Still no free food on a long flight.

JFK-LAX-JFK in First Class on B767. Outbound greeted by Purser who introduced herself and addressed
us by name. The food choice is poor and for the prices AA charges on this route they could have
offered hot meal as well. On the way back we had a rather disengaged Purser who performed duties
automatically with no little special touches that we were treated to on the outbound. Why can't AA
deliver consistent service?

30 January 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
I had 6 flights with AA throughout this trip. Two were delayed, one was cancelled and they managed
to lose my bag two times. The inflight service was close to non existent (I take it it's normal for
US airlines to want money for everything: headphones, wine, beer, meals but being used to the
service level of European and Asian airlines it's still disappointing). As for the cancelled flight
and lost bags: They weren't cooperative in any way and the information I was given turned out to be
wrong a couple of times.

LAX-DFW in First. Due to equipment change traveled on 757 instead of 767. Cabin crew did a great
job, however these 757 are the worst First Class product this airline has to offer. The seats are
way past their prime, audio/video system is inaudible and the seats lack any extra room. Avoid AA's
757 at all costs.

Miami to London. 777, was very nearly at full capacity. The crew were quite welcoming and offered a
drinks run prior to the dinner service. Alcoholic drinks are $5.00 or £3.00 but paying that for a
double brandy and ginger ale is not so bad. The meal, chicken and rice with salad, was tasty and
well presented. Only downside was the fact that the entertainment system was not working correctly
and we went about 6 hours with no audio or video. All in all a decent flight.

LHR-JFK. Check in fine and left on time. I have never experienced FA's who's attitude to safety and
customer service is so lacking. After boarding flight at LHR no walking down the aisle by FA's to
check your seatbelt was on, tables up etc or assistance to close lockers (I am only 5ft tall so had
to stand on my seat to reach it). After flight took off a meal was quickly served, food OK but
basic (no little things like crackers & cheese or chocolate that you might get with Virgin or BA).
Drinks served but anything alcoholic was $5, a bit of a cheek! After this FA's disappeared, a visit
to the rear restrooms located where they were, sat in the back few rows of seats eating meals they
had brought down from first class watching their own personal DVD players with headphones on (the
IFE offered was very poor so not surprised they brought their own DVD's) ! If anyone had buzzed for
their attention they would have been lucky to get their attention. This is where the FA stayed for
the next 5 hours of the flight! So much for making sure customers are happy! With less than an hour
to go the FA's decided to do some more work and raced down the plane serving partially cooked Cheese
and Tomato pizza, after 6.5 hours you really wanted something more to eat than a single slice of
pizza. You can spot a seasoned AA passenger, they bring their own food and drink and DVD player! Not
what you would expect you should have to do for a flight costing over £300 (which isn't any cheaper
than other airlines). JFK-LHR slightly better but it was an overnight flight so FA's benefited from
most passengers just wanting to sleep as soon as they board. They also seemed slightly more
concerned about customer safety. All in all you just got a feeling that being a FA on AA is a cushy
number compared to how much work FA's on other airlines do. My custom is going back to BA or Virgin!

Frankfurt to Chicag. After 4 hours, pilot decided to return Heathrow due to hydraulic problems.
After a 2 hours flight back, it took 6 hours to put us into a hotel. We had to wait 2 hours for
security check to enter to the airport, 3 hours for AA to reschedule our flights to next day, and
one hour for the 5 minute drive hotel to find us rooms. After the diversion, AA Heathrow Office had
2 hours to arrange all necessary things. They did not - during the 6 hours we have wait no passenger
has been offered snacks or even water! It was a disaster. It is clear that I'm not flying AA again!

TUL-PDX round trip via DFW in First (Executive Plat Upgrades). Decent equipment this time as neither
of the MD-80's between DFW and PDX were ex-TWA planes. I fly this trip every couple of weeks and a
good inflight crew can make all the difference. On the outboiund DFW-PDX flight, despite a less than
full First Class cabin (a rarity these days) the FA in First acted as if she would have rather had a
root canal than smile or offer any semblance of service. No pre-departure beverages offered, the
meal was served quickly and then the sour FA disappeared to her jumpseat and read a book. One of the
FA's in the Main Cabin came by and refilled drinks. After landing in Portland, the cranky, invisible
FA mentioned that she was New York based and hated having to spend a night in a "boring town like
Portland," which myself and several other Pax found offensive. The return trip, was a polar
opposite: a great inflight crew, tasty lunch served with a smile, and warm cookies and cold milk
served throughout the flight.

Narita - DFW was very uncomfortable as I got little sleep; the reclining and leg rest mechanisms
were totally inadequate if they were even working. I was extremely disappointed by the clubs in DFW
(Home of AA). The snacks were nothing compared to Narita. Pretzels - basically nothing & I was given
1 drink coupon. $9 for a 1 day internet connection (Narita was complimentary). This happened as I
waited 4 hrs for my last connection as I could not get on an earlier flight that was oversold. My
4hr layover in DFW was painful.

I fly AA quite often and it's getting worse by the day. Recently flew AA in economy from Santa Ana
to Chicago and then to Brussels. Old and dirty 757, paid drinks on transatlantic flights, old tvs

AAdvantage member with over 90k miles, and still have a carton card with absolutely no advantage or
whatsoever!

San Francisco-JFK First Class on 3 class 767. After a decidedly unimpressive visit to the Admirals
Club Lounge I had pre-booked my preferred seat - the single one in the centre of the cabin. On
boarding no offer of a pre-flight drink and barely a welcome from the crew - so par for the course
from AA. Menus given out - pretty basic choices dressed up to look more than they in fact turned
out to be. But the chicken sandwich was decent as was salad and ice cream but hardly First Class
fare on a 3 class flight. Service was pleasant enough. We had handout individual DVD players -
awkward to know where to put them, especially whist eating and not a great selection of viewing
material on offer. Would not wanted to have been a much longer flight with them and of course they
collect them in ages before the flight ends. We made good time - I managed some sleep - and short
taxi and quick disembarkation and a bit of a mad dash across to Jetblue for the onward flight to
Buffalo. All in all a decent business class experience - really should be better than this though on
a flagship route.

Business class LHR to JFK and then on to St Lucia. Check in efficient and flight attendants
friendly. Annoying that as I paid for my fare, there were so many free upgrades to fill the premium
cabin - but not me to first. Plane very old with a seat that barely reclines and certainly nowhere
near enough for a comfortable sleep. In flight entertainment very poor with hardly any choice, and
food adequate. Not even one tenth as good an experience as flying BA club class. Annoyed refused
access to lounge even on a business class ticket at both JFK and St Lucia. Return St Lucia to JFK
even older plane with virtually no recline to the seat. JFK to LHR in paid for first class. Seat
converts to a bed as in BA club class and staff friendly. Slept through dinner so no comment can
be made about food and entertainment except videos on demand were available but the choice wasn't
impressive.

13 January 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
Seattle to Chicago (O'Hare) Coach Class. Flight delayed over an hour due to snow in Chicago which
meant a very tight connection for my onward BA flight to LHR. No apparent concern on the part of the
ground staff although they did announce that several other domestic and international connections
were likely to be missed. As it turned out, we landed some 30 minutes before my BA flight departed
and the ensuing dash across the airport from one terminal to another is not one I'd recommend. I
just knew my bags wouldn't make it in time even though I did. (Sure enough, they missed the
connection and turned up at my home 3 days later). The flight to ORD itself was packed - a cramped
and tatty MD80 made the 4 hour flight almost unbearable. No IFE and my choice of complimentary tea
came in the form of a polystyrene cup filled with hot water and a Liptons teabag to put it in!
Begrudging FAs topped it all off. AA has an awfully long way to go if it wants my custom again. I
never used to be a fan of British Airways but these days I would choose them over just about any
other airline - it was a total relief to fly with them after the AA experience.

ORD-LHR-ORD I saved 50 USD by using AA instead of a BA, and I I would never make the mistake again.
Everything surrounding the flight was mediocre, from the relatively indifferent and unfriendly gate
people in both airports, to the slightly soiled and underkept interiors. The flight attendants were
sloppily dressed and had poor style. I guess this what happens when you run such a tight union
shop. Plus, you have to pay for wine even at dinner: unheard of on long-haul international flights.

LHR-JFK, economy class. There was a delay when I boarded the flight at Heathrow. No communication
from staff, no explanation which irritated a number of passengers wanting to know when they can
escape the hot and stuffy lounge. Not the best start to a journey. I usually struggle with leg room
on most airlines but was impressed to see an extra few inches between me and the seat in front. Food
mediocre, staff were friendly but entertainment can be better. I'd fly with AA again but only if the
fare was a bargain.

10 January 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
For the most part we found the American Airlines employees we dealt with to be uncaring and
unhelpful. We experienced weather delays and cancellations which cannot be helped but it seemed to
be the first ever such situation they had encountered judging by how it was handled. No
communication or guidance at all. We found our flight was canceled when it disappeared from the
monitors. But the worst was our luggage. It was lost 75% of the time. We received one bag, one time.
After wearing the same clothes for over three days after arriving in Barcelona on Christmas day we
purchased the cheapest socks and underwear we could to get by as they still had no idea where our
luggage was. I sent an email asking about how to get reimbursement for the items purchased and it
received no response from AA.

9 January 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
I booked to fly London Heathrow to Los Angeles (via New York) and returning to New York (via San
Francisco) before returning to London two days later. My flights were booked in April 2007 and were
taken in November 2007. About a month before I flew, I was emailed to be told that a schedule change
would mean that my 75 minute stop in New York on the outbound was to become 3 hours 30 minutes! When
I queried it, it was not a schedule change. In fact, the airline change our flights so that we would
not miss the connection. There was no contact made with us - the airline simply made the changes!
You must allow 75 minutes between connecting flights, which we had, so I was puzzled as to why the
flight was changed. Anyhow, after dealing with a Dublin-based call centre, the flights were again
changed to a direct midday departure. Cabin service on the Boeing 777 was acceptable, although
having spent £375 on my ticket, I was shocked to discover that all alcoholic drinks were charged at
£3 or $5!. Soft drinks and hot drinks were included as were some rather bland hot meals, made up of
some very small portions. A delay of 90 minutes to the Los Angeles to San Francisco flight resulted
in a missed connection, which was detected before boarding the San Francisco bound flight (by us and
not the airline, however). After dealing with a member of staff, we eventually were given tickets
for a direct flight to New York, departing at 11.45pm, and arriving the following morning at around
8.00am. The 767 aircraft was very old on the inside and the faulty air conditioning meant that the
cabin was unbearably warm. Once airborne, free soft drinks were served. Fortunately though, I nodded
off soon after takeoff and woke at some point during the descent. Baggage reclaim at JFK Airport was
slow and it took time for the cases to appear. Unfortunately for me, my case had not arrived on the
flight. It had instead taken the route we had planned to take, and had not been put onto this new
flight, despite being assured that it would have been by that deceitful man in Los Angeles! Arrogant
staff at their baggage reclaim office could not have been of any less help if they tried. It took 36
hours to get the case back to me. Even though it took more than 24 hours, there was no compensation
or reimbursement for essential items I had to buy - washbag items, underwear etc. A letter was sent
to the American Airlines headquarters in mid-November. Seven weeks on and I have still not heard
from them. This is one airline to avoid!

TPA-MIA and MIA-ATL. I have been avoiding American Airlines since a bad international experience
with them two years ago. I wanted to see if things had improved with this carrier. Both of these
domestic flights departed on time and I no problems. However, I was stricken by the fact that the
attitude of American's gate agents and flight attendants was bad. The cockpit crews were genial in
their announcements and seemed to care about the passengers, but everyone else at American I came
into contact with acted as if the company's customers were a bother to them. I was also annoyed by
the $2 per bag fee American charges for curbside luggage check-in. There are better options out
there.

Ft. Lauderdale to LAX for just $109. Flight attendants had written a sign in pencil that said, no
standing in the galley. No food - not even a peanut, just a can of soda is given on a 5.5 hour
flight. The seatbelt sign was turned on for the last three hours of the flight, but the turbulence
lasted only five minutes and flight attendants were pouring hot coffee and tea during this time. It
is rather hard to take the sign seriously when flying American. Price gives the flight a 2 Star.

A rather poor experience on the ORD-DEL sector in Business. Check-in good enough, with a
First/Business line at ORD, a dedicated security line, and Admirals Club access. That's where
things start going downhill. First of all, the flight was listed on-time right up to the scheduled
boarding time, at which time the departure time showed delayed, and then kept getting pushed back -
first 10 minutes, then 30, then 40, then 60, all without any announcement or apology from the gate
agent. On boarding, we sat at the gate for almost 45 minutes before finally pushing back - though
this time, the captain and cabin crew at least kept us informed and apologized. We eventually
departed almost 2 hours late. The interior was the new business class setup. I thought the seats
were quite comfortable for sitting and sleeping, and AVOD IFE looked promising. Unfortunately, it
never worked due to a technical problem, with only the flight map and a few games working. I wanted
to sleep and work, anyway, but pity the folks who had to endure a 15 hour flight with NO
entertainment - not even a movie on the big screen! The meal service was mediocre, and a repeat of
the same menu I had 3 months ago. At least the bags came out quickly at DEL for a change.

Boarded AA flight at LHR doors closed - took off 2 hrs later. A woman wanted to get off and they
allowed her to spoil peoples cruises/holidays business plans. The steward told me she had boarded
without her husband and would not go without him. We missed our connection in Chicago we were
relocated, then it got colder and darker and our substitute flight was in need of de-icing. We
boarded at 4.30pm and sat on runway until 9pm, when they took us off for 1 hr. At 10pm we re-boarded
and sat on runway until 12.15. We missed our new connection and slept in a cot at DSW. No food no
drinks. We were relocated on a flight but our luggage wasn't! We arrived MCO at 11am Sunday
instead of 7.30pm Saturday. We lost a paid night at 5 star hotel and a days car hire. I wrote to AA
and emailed on Dec 8th they emailed they were investigating - still no reply. Return MCO to Chicago
OK. At Chicago gate 12 changes to Gate 19 - get to new gate an Iberia plane was there until after
out departure time. Then we keep being told we are going later - later until we are 1hr and 15mins
late. They never announce a reason so this time I went to the desk and asked "your plane was used
for another flight and we have to get one from a hanger". You knew our plane was used so why not
get it earlier from the hanger? "Don't complain to me I am only an agent write to AA!" My seat was
broken, light did not work, films were the same as when we flew out 4 weeks earlier, and kept
rolling back to start so I watched the same film twice to see the ending, the food was awful - you
now get a packet of oatmeal biscuits for pudding. We go every winter for a month - anyone know a
better way to travel than AA LHR-Orlando?

GRU-MIA, daylight flight. First Class. Flight half full. Before taake-off drinks were OJ, cheap
champagne or simply water. Flight departed on time and 15 minutes after departure F/As started to
prepare cabin for lunch. Although video system is AVOD, my seat screen had seen better days and
could not get a proper image! Movies selection good - but not for First Class! BA, for one, offers 10
times more options in Business Class than AA on First. Anyway, moving on... Meal service started off
with some warm nuts and champagne (still the cheap kind!) and soon we had an appetizer of salmon
tartar (good quantity and taste). F/As then came into the aisles with the salad trolley - not very
original but at least salad was fresh. After removing the salad plate we were in for a terrible
surprise. My travel companion ordered some pasta dish which, according to him was fairly good. I
ordered the steak but to my disappointment got a 2 small portion of beef with some unidentified
sauce, and accompanied by some mushy rice and overcooked veggies!!! F/As, in the meantime, kept
drinks and bread cominig, but there was not much they could do to make up for the meals'
embarrassment. On the other hand, seats are still comfortable, reclining 180o. degrees, to a full
flat position. Nice, fluffy pillow and decent blanket. ONe hour before arrrival a small cheese+ham
pizza was served which was surprisingly good, although a bit on the greasy side. Arrival was on time
and we were the first off the plane. Huge pro: these dailight flights get you into Miami at a very
quiet time which means immigration and customs were empty by the time we hit them. 20 minutes after
arrival and we were already on a taxi home.

Wichita (ICT) - Dallas-Ft Worth (DFW) - Honolulu (HNL) and return, in AA First Class. Three out of
the four segments were late, at least two of the three for mechanical/maintenance concerns. The
lone timely segment was actually early, and also by far the best service of the four: HNL - DFW on
Christmas night. So much depends on the crew, and with the exception of that leg the flight
attendants were at best passibly polite and at worst surly. On the 8-hour-plus leg to Hawaii, one
older flight attendant wore a sweatshirt for what I could tell the entire flight, and I never once
saw him smile at, or converse with, a passenger. First-class "Sam-Choy-inspired" Hawaiian cuisine
was served on the two HNL legs and sure beat paying for a wrap sandwich in coach, but on the other
hand was nothing special. Both overwater 767-300s had the new recline-to--flat business class seats
(first class on the HNL runs is similar to international business class), but I found the electronic
controls to be somewhat unintuitive and apparently quirky. As far as those maintenance delays, one
got the feeling the various departments of the airline weren't meshing with each other. The MD-80
out of Wichita on a scheduled pre-dawn departure was way, way late because of busted hydraulic hose,
but the captain admitted to me in the boarding lounge the problem had been discovered the previous
afternoon, and while he said he had been in the business too long to point fingers at anyone, he
said he honestly couldn't understand why the airline had waited until the next morning to fix it.
If he couldn't understand, the rest of us surely couldn't, either.

pretty discouraged and we haven't even left yet.

NRT Tokyo-DFW economy. $5+ for wine & beer (on a 14 hour international flight!). VOD only working
for business & First (although flight magazine stated otherwise) and half of the time the running
movie was in between plays - so you only had a grey screen. Plus, they ran the same 3 movies over
and over. Really frustrating for those who can't sleep or read on planes. Small portions at meals
(I'm a small female and don't eat a lot. I felt bad for the men in coach.) Surly flight attendants,
not uncommon with American. I do not recommend American for international flights. Compared to
Qantas and Asian airlines, it's a sore disappointment.

I flew American Airlines LAX to Dallas International. It was terrible! The plane (an out-dated 767)
was 4.5 hours late and offered no IFE. The departure hall was dirty and the electronic charging
stations were all broken. The economy seats are tight and cabin crew was scarce and unfriendly.
Previous trips on American were also sub-par, but not as dismal as this one.

JFK-STN-JFK in coach class. Decided to try flying into Stansted as American are pushing the new
route and Stansted was closer to my final destination. AA are using old 767's on the route and their
age shows. Although the business class seats have been completely renewed the coach class section
has not and is in need of attention. The entertainment controls are the old dial style and my
controls did not work at all. No seat back screens, they still have the "One between five" style
TV's hung overhead. Food onboard okay but tiny portions. Flight crew were very surly which alas is
all too frequent on AA these days. Crew only seemed interested in getting their food and drink runs
completed so they could sit up the back and talk. Check in at the new JFK terminal was excellent
and easy. Stansted however needs a lot of improvement. Check in took well over an hour and is being
handled by and agent for AA. Overall experience this trip was poor.

JFK-NRT-JFK Business Class old tired seats. Service was better in coach on JAL to and from PEK.
Food poor. Meat overcooked and over salted. I ordered the Japanese meal for the trip home and it
was spectacular- the snack before landing at JFK was fairly decent. My seat was stuck in the
reclining position [i.e. broken] at landing and would not come up. AA needs some serious work, not
only in creature comforts but service - but then 100% of the C class pax on this flight had upgraded
so where is the incentive.

LHR-LAX-LAS-LAX-LHR - Economy. LHR-LAX. Checking at T3 at Heathrow was a breeze. Flight boarded
late. Plane clean, but blanket had a yoghurt stain on it. The pillow also had been used with the
blanket as it had red fur on it. Lunch ok, but very small portions. Mid way through the flight there
was a snack and beverage run. The snack was cheese biscuits and a chocolate. The pre landing snack
was a pizza, but was so hot it melted my cheap plastic fork! The crew were indifferent. Hard to get
a smile out of them. T4 at LAX was nice. We rushed through immigration to make our connecting AE
flight (1hr 50min connecting time, cut down to 1hr by the time we landed). Had to collect bags and
re scan them for the transfer. Shuttle bus to AE terminal. LAX-LAS American Eagle. Flight delayed
about an hour. Surely they would have known that when we arrived so we didn't need to rush so much.
Short flight with 1 crew doing a drinks run. She'd done 6 flights that day and still smiling! Plane
a bit tatty. Arrived at LAS and 1 bag was missing. The bag that arrived had been opened by the TSA.
Baggage Service staff efficient and friendly and said it would probably come on the first flight the
next day (this was the last AA flight) or an another carrier. It was at the hotel first thing the
next day and hadn't been opened by the TSA. LAS-LAX. Fun check in staff at LAS. Bit confusing how
you check in at the kiosks and then wait for your name to be called to drop your bags! Left bags
with screener and wondered if we'd see them again. Security at LAS took 30 mins to get through. Full
flight. Beverage run only. Crew and plane ok for such a short flight. LAX-LHR. Joined the "manual"
check in desk queue that moved ever so slowly. Then told by a queue guard that we can use the kiosk.
Checked in 5 mins after that! Security took about 10 mins to clear into T4. Nice terminal, could do
with a few more shops though! Food on onboard this time was poor. Crew slightly more pleasant.
Breakfast not very substantial. All bags arrived. Including the extra one with all the additional
shopping. Entertainment on the international sectors was fine, but roll on AVOD. I really hate
finishing a movie then having to wait 20 mins for the next batch to begin. Also everyone gets up to
go to the loo at the same time! The free earphones supplied are poor. Had to turn them up full to
hear. Bought a set of Bose (£100 cheaper than in the UK!) and what a difference. I'm surprised that
there weren't more beverage runs. On similar length flights I've done to Australia via Asia, the
crew there are passing through the cabin every couple of hours with water or juice. Also, most of
these carriers have a snack bar set up in the galley between meals. Here, there were the left over
bread rolls (in packaging) from the main meal and on the last leg, the packaged cookies. There was
also some juice and water bottles. If I hadn't gone to the loo, I wouldn't have known about them!
Also, there are no amenity kits handed out (socks, earplugs, eyeshades, toothbrush, etc). Seats were
fine, but be warned if you are on the outer seats 3 or 4 rows from back. The plane body narrows and
you are on an angle to the rest of the plane. Only noticed it on the ground and not while flying.
2-5-2 seating config. I booked my seats 4 months out and for mid week flights nearly all the window
seats had gone. Would I fly them again? Price, destination, and frequent flyer points will answer that!

ORD-LHR Economy. I chose AA because it has best seats. AA food mediocre, flight crew a bit hurried
but cheerful.

JFK-STT by way of SJU. Why did I book AA? Check-in at JFK was painless, although I stood in
security for over and hour (no fault of AA). Flew on A300 coach. One beverage run with the only
option of food at a cost of $5 which sucked. After that, never saw the FA's again until our initial
descent into San Juan. My seat wouldn't recline. Got into SJU where to no surprise, my American
Eagle flight was delayed. Sat in the AE corridor for over 3 hours before the flight was finally
moved to an ATR that had recently came out of maintenance. We were all rushed on the plane to only
find out that one of the pilots had timed out so we were deplaned and taken back to the terminal.
OK, so this whole time, they didn't know that the guy would be illegal shortly? One hour later, the
plane from SXM came in and we finally got on and took our short 22 minute flight to St. Thomas.

ORD-LHR return - Upgrade to Business - I enjoyed the flights on AA for the first time in a very long while, although whoever designed the new shell type seats in Business Class must have had a non-human in mind. Although roomy, there is no way to get comfortable in that seat, sleeping or awake. FA's were pleasant, polite and provided
excellent service with decent food and plenty of libation. They did drop the ball on the
initial arrival at HTW where a wheel chair should have been waiting. Sent me on the shuttle to the
terminal saying there would be someone to meet me, but merely a ploy to get me off
their hands. It's still every man for himself with AA!

LHR-ORD-DFW and back in Economy. After this experience, I'm surprised anyone would want to fly AA on
a transatlantic sector. I travelled on their 777 service - seat config is horrid at 2x5x2. Feel
sorry for the person stuck in the middle of 5 seats. Why AA adopted this config is hard to imagine
as it makes the cabin feel smaller than a comparable 3x3x3. Food was terrible and what made it
worse was the $5 charge of alcoholic drinks. The only saving grace was the pizza snack just prior
to landing which was ok, but after spending nearly 6hrs without any food or water, I suppose
anything tastes nice. AA markets the LHR-ORD-DFW as a continuous service. All passengers
travelling to DFW missed their connection due to lengthy queues in immigration. Return flight just
as bad, in fact worse. Service on ORD-LHR was very poor.

PHX-DFW-LGW roundtrip economy class. S80 from PHX-DFW are getting a bit old and worn. Seats are
real uncomfortable, but for a 2 hour long flight it gets you by. Complimentary soft drink on the
domestic legs, but no snacks. DFW-LGW both directions on 777's. Seating configuration 2x5x2.
Myself and my traveling companion booked the double seat and had a pretty comfortable flight. IFE
pretty good. The food in both directions was horrible. I strongly recommend eating before getting
on the flight. USD $5 for alcohol so no free drinks here. Overall a pretty good experience, but you
can find better comforts with other airlines. I would only recommend them if the price is right &
if flying on the 777's.
