STL-BOS rtn, F Class. Service was above average for what one has come to expect from AA. Both
flights on time. Flight attendants were pleasant, planes clean, and food (Breakfast outbound and
snack on the return) were OK. The flight attendant on the return flight was actually allowing a group
of business associates to keep switching between coach and first and fed all the combinations.
American's Logan terminal in "B" is a shambles and I hope they can speed up repairs. St. Louis is
simply a ghost of what it once was since American pulled the bulk of its flights. They also need to
replace the MD80s - they're way past their sell by date.

LHR-JFK, JFK-Bermuda, Bermuda-LHR Via JFK. America Airlines are ok but there is a distinct lack of
choice on the worlds busiest commercial route (LHR-JFK). Boarding at LHR was efficient and flight
departed on time. Flight was by Boeing 777 in a 2-5-2 formation in economy class. Food wasn't too
bad. Not as good as BA or Singapore. No free alcoholic drinks, all beer, wine or spirits at $5.
Blankets and pillows are provided on day and night flights and leg room is comparable with other major
airlines. Inflight entertainment is seat-back screens with about 10 channels but it is not on-demand
and choice is limited. It sufficed for the 7 hour flight to JFK but you may find the choice limited
if you are travelling from Europe to the West Coast. However, AA say that the system is in transition
and a full on-demand system is being rolled out. The flight between JFK and Bermuda is not classed as
an International Flagship services and as such it is equivalent to a budget airline but with a
complementary soft or hot drink thrown in. AA are a fairly ordinary airline, the other main choice
from the UK to USA is by BA. Cost tipped the balance for us, with the total cost for two adults and
one child for all legs came to just over £1700. For BA, return from Gatwick to Bermuda was over
£2500.

JFK-SFO-JFK in Business on 767-200. FA's on both legs accomodating, lacking in surliness that I've
experienced in the past. Meal service adequate JFK-SFO as it was 8PM flight and qualified as "snack"
flight. FA's kept wine glass full and offered extra warm nuts. Return was dinner flight and food and
service above average. Seats comfortable but could use an upgrade (I'm told this is coming). Love
the duvet and large pillow. American must have just integrated the personal video sysytems into
business class - enjoyed playing around with new system, which had multiple movies and tv show. Like
that the unit was mobile and could be put anywhere, although I question if the units will wear well.
American usually gets my business on transcontinental flight as they are one of the only (if not THE
only) airlines that still flies widebodies on those routes.

PHL-BUE First Class. I flew this route twice last year and the food and the service were really
inferior compared tpo when I travelled in 2000. Not worth paying or spending points on first class.
Secondly, was the attitude of the attendant staff that was as if they had to deal with you as an
inconvenience in what they call "work". I like the connections to BUE and that is why I used the
airline. And because my other choices aren't any better, although I am told that LAN is better and I
will try it out. Seats are barely OK but in ill repair. Amenities are virtually worthless.

LAX to FLL nonstop. First Class seats on 757 old and rather retro as described elsewhere but plenty of
room and seat was wide and comfortable. Service good, attendants were friendly. Breakfast an omlette
along with fresh pastries. About one hour out of FLL, freshly baked cookies and milk were offered. All
in all a very pleasant flight.

IND-DFW-LAX return in First Class, MD-80's on all four legs. We initially planned this trip in economy
where my wife and I like to sit on the left side of the 2x3 cabin. However, after a truly horrendous
trip to LAS in April, we decided to use AAdvantage miles to upgrade. Since we were heading to LA for a
Hawaiian cruise, we left the day before just in case. The first leg (IND-DFW) was fine, with good FA
service, acceptable food, and ontime service. Then everything went bad. A thunderstorm during the
layover caused the ground staff to be called off the tarmac for 80 minutes. When we finally pulled out
of DFW, we were 8 hours late! Other than the captain's informative announcements, we got nothing from
American in the way of apologies, meal vouchers, or anything else. Apparently many folks on our flight
were to connect in LAX for Hawaiian and Japanese flights, but those connections were obviously not
made and it seemed like nobody from American Airlines could have cared less! Once airborne, the flight
was uneventful, with decent food and service in First Class (although the same two snack choices as on
the IND-DFW flight). When we arrived in LAX after midnight, it was a zoo. Our story was apparently
pretty typical of what American's flights had been for the previous 3 or 4 days. Many people who had
been booked on AA flights missed the cruise completely, and couldn't join the ship until we reached
Honolulu! The return was what we used to experience on AA. Predictable service, nothing great but
nothing terrible either. Serviceable MD-80's that are (hopefully) at the end of their service lives.
But we're not holding onto AAdvantage miles much longer, either. We'll be using them quickly and
looking for another airline.

LAS-DFW-FLL Economy. Check in was a nightmare. You check in through the self service terminal and a
baggage label is printed behind the check in desks and when your name is called you check your
baggage. The only issue was, people were crowding round waiting for their names and blocking the
terminals, so you have to wait for them to clear to checkin. That aside, the flight from Las Vegas to
Dallas was late but only by 15 minutes and as I had a 2 hour lay over, this didn't bother me, however
the pilot made up the time and landed early so this didn't matter. Tea or Coffee and biscuits were
provided on both flights, which I do appreciate. Snacks were extra, but at least you get something to
make the flight go quicker. Aircraft were both a MD-80's, which are old, however the seats were okay
for the short flights (wouldn't be suitable for long haul) and the crew were great and friendly,
giving out extra biscuits when they had some left. In all, great. I would choose this airline again.

I fly my share of domestic flights on AA, and those are nothing to be
crazy for. The extra leg room is probably the only thing that attracts
me, and the fact that I used to live in Dallas and AA offered the most
complete service to anywhere in the country from DFW for me. I also fly
once or twice a year on AA to Asia via Tokyo Narita. Asian airlines
offer much better food, more inflight entertainment, and FAs are more
"respectful" than AA's. I am a sucker for extra legroom on the 777 - it
is more spacious than both Cathay and JAL. The good thing is that AA is
upgrading all its Business Class/First Class on 777's, and as a Platinum
member, I have had the pleasure of getting free upgrades on numerous
occasions due to over-sold flights. Admiral Clubs are not as good as
other airline lounges where they offer some real food.

Economy class from Chicago (ORD) to Washington Reagan (DCA). Aircraft
was a very old Super 80. Upon clearing security, we learn that the
flight was delayed by over 3 hours. In the intervening period, we
observed that the departure gate changed no less than 4 times. The wait
outside the departure gate was little better than peak hour at a Chicago
bus shelter - and when the final gate change came through, there was a
mass-migration to the new gate which involved a lot of push and shove by
all concerned. Upon boarding the aircraft, we were not acknowledged let
alone greeted by a cabin attendant who was more interested in conducting
a very loud conversation with a colleague. Leg room was consistent with
other correspondents in this forum: non-existant! The final insult was
the catering on this supposedly "full service" airline: a bag of peanuts
and a can of Coke thrown across the tray table. Overall, a very
ordinary performance. My advice to persons travelling on this airline:
avoid the MD80 and Super 80, and keep your expectations low.

SAN-LGW via DFW in business class using miles and co-pay. BRU-SAN via
ORD Y class. Friendly staff at Admirals Club DFW made the layover time
fly by. Dinner steak was prepared perfectly, dessert ice-cream sundae
that was delicious. The 777 has the old generation business class seats,
but I found it cozy and slept well (duvet and Bose noise canceling
headsets didn't hurt!). Coach service wasn't that bad - the 767 has a
nice configuration for long flights.

CID-ORD-LAX-ORD-CID. Our first Eagle flight attendant couldn’t have
cared less, she was actually yelling at the passengers as we boarded.
Flights mostly on time. My luggage beat me to LA, I was lucky to find it
in a roped off area near the AA counter. Onboard only drinks are
offered, I wish AA wouldn’t have cut back so much, they could at least
give out a bag of pretzels. At least they gave the whole can of soda.
On the return trip, we were lucky enough to encounter the one friendly
agent in LA who successfully got us standby on earlier flights, saving
us a long wait in the airport. Overall, AA is a decent option, when
compared with other domestic airlines.

Coach class on an S80 Chicago-O'Hare to Seattle-Tacoma International,
was a horrible experience. None of the three of us (myself, my wife and
our lean 21-year-old son) is especially tall (5/11 and less) or heavy
(185 and less) but we were cramped and uncomfortable beyond description.
To describe the space between seats as "leg room" would be grossly
inaccurate. It is the first time in years I have flown American. How far
it has dropped in customer service and comfort. I was prepared for the
minimal snack (a dinky cracker and soft drink or juice) but was caught
totally unaware by the cramped seat configuration. The ride was
torturous.

JFK to London in economy. Seats on 777 is excellent. Crew OK.
Entertainment choices boring. They clearly nickel and dime you with the
catering. Dinner was OK except for the desert which consisted of "tiny
cookies." Breakfast just one small croissant. The lunch on the return
was surprisingly good but the snack consisted of the most disgusting
"snack box" which they should call the Junk food box. It consists of 4
Oreo cookies, cheese, yoghurt candies, chocolate and chips all mixed up
makes a sickening combination. To save money the attendants pour the
milk in the tea/ coffee. Something that irritates me.

but I need have had no worries. The food was hot, fresh and exactly
what I can eat without the worry of possible after effects. I have
written to my Coeliac Society magazine in UK to add this company to the
"thumbs up" excellent service list. Many thanks to caterers.

LAX-ORD, ORD-LHR in first and business last month. First class checkin
at LAX quick as well as bypassing the lines via the 1st class security
line. I had access to the Admirals Club at LAX as well as ORD, and the
arrivals lounge at Heathrow. Admirals Club at LAX was nice, clean, and
snacks and a few drinks provided free of charge. Flight to Chicago on
time and service was great. Lunch a decent ham sandwich with a salad,
warm nuts, and cookies right before landing. Admirals Club in Chicago
was the perfect place to relax. ORD-LHR business class on time. Flight
attendants were fantastic. Dinner - warm nuts, decent sized steak,
shrimp cocktail, and awesome ice cream dessert. Good selection of
alcohol and drinks provided. Personal TV's are nice, but selection of
movies is poor and on a loop. Slept for a few hours and woken up by
the flight attendant just before landing. Upon landing at Heathrow we
receive fast track passes through immigration. However, luggage took a
while to come off the plane. Return LHR-LAX in economy. More legroom
than expected, however the food was terrible. I skipped both meals and
had the snack they served in between. Flight attendants nice and drinks
were provided a lot during the flight. Arrival at LAX was fine although
again it took forever for our bags to come off the plane. All in all,
American did a fine job.

Manchester to Chicago to Dallas and return 3 weeks later. Summoned to
MAN gate on time but plane left 2 hours late due to smelly carpet!
Number of people missed connections at Chicago incl 2 elderly ladies (1
in wheelchair) who were going to Miami and QE2. Half of luggage went to
Boston (as did that of the ladies). Had allowed 4 hours for connection
but just made flight to Dallas. Return flight took off from Chicago on
time but turned back and made an emergency landing. Told delay would be
1 hour. It was 5 hours with little info and no water supplied during
this long wait. Economy seating has better legroom than other major
carriers but planes are so old (we had flickering magic lantern show!).
Food worse than charter on both transatlantic flights. Attendants OK.

SFO-BOS-SFO No real problems and the experience was acceptable. The component that is lacking is any
real interest on the part of the cabin staff. They are simply there--presumably for our safety
alone--and offer little else. The drinks come as promised but there is minimal interaction and the
boredom with the process is fairly palpable. Sure, they have taken a beating in terms of pay and
benefits and have ample reason to be upset but they have chosen to stay in the job which is one of
public contact and service so why not at least try to enjoy the experience? In the US, this attitude
is widespread across all carriers and, I think, is the primary cause of dissatisfaction with US
carriers. At least pretend that you are glad to have me on board.

JFK-LHR return. Long line at FC checkin in new spacious terminal so I used
kiosk, which went well and was quick. No delay at security and had a choice of two
Admirals Clubs before boarding. Seats (Flagship suite) were very comfortable, I got almost
5 hours sleep. A lie flat bed makes a difference. Food was good
(lamb main course was really good, reminded me of Pan Am quality food). I skipped the many courses
and the FA served salad and main course so I could go to sleep. FA were attentive and helpful.
Breakfast was offered and served when I woke up. Return flight. AA has kerbside checkin at LHR which was very quick. Proceeded to Flagship Lounge
where they were serving all kinds of things incl. afternoon tea incl scones and small sandwiches,
plus soup, fruit, salads, and a full complement of beverages but no apple juice.
Flight was pleasant, also Flagship Suite config so I napped a bit, then watched a movie I had
brought with me. Food was good but not as good as outbound flight. Crew also very pleasant.

JFK-DFW-BUR in First. Terminal 8 at JFK is used apparently)on AA shorter
flights and to Puerto Rico, etc. be forewarned. It's the old, old
terminal which I realise is soon to be changed to the more presentable
Terminal 9. JFK-DFW in First on 757 was Ok. Friendly FA, however a
dismal hard croissant sand lunch and Beringer Pinot Grigo (warm) and
another supermarket Cabarnet. Noone ate the sandwich and the FAs whisked
it away quickly. What is the point AA of serving lunch if the lunch goes
untouched by your premium cabin? Also, warmed nuts are a nice touch but
hot-hot nuts make the legumes seem stale, which they tasted on this
segment. However, the flight left on time! Which is the great part. AA
First needs to slow down their service though, like in a better
restaurant. Because the remainder of the time the FA hunker down in the
galley and have long chats about health care, cars, novels etc. They are
audible to the rest of the cabin - and of course must know this, and
simply do not care. With that being said, the First experience from DFW-
BUR was surprisingly nice. The lone FA was old school no nonsense
however was courteous, and appeared to enjoy her job. She did the old
trick of bowing down low to take out drink order, almost kneeling --
very 70s, chic. Drinks plentiful on this routing, offered beyond the
call. Lunch was better on this seg (though still a 'Marriot style' wrap
plate.) Nice cabin on the MD-80, dark leather seats in first. When we
boarded, the staff had placed down all the window screens because it was
so warm in Dallas - a nice elegant touch, as they know most want the
cabin clean and chilled and do not necessarily want to see the apron
load in, load out procedures. Nice touch, AA. All to say - yes, it's a
domestic experience, and this is the USA. (If that makes sense).

ORD-MIA-ORD. Flights left on time. Since I was traveling with a 2 and

service from American. On general staff seems to do their job without a
lot of enthusiasm. Southwest and Delta give much more to their
passengers in domestic flight then AA or United. One thing that annoys
me is why they sell their overpriced snacks and headsets before serving
drinks. I will fly AA as long as it is the cheapest option.

the line for these and for the baggage drop is quite long.

BUR-DFW-JFK in Y. The usual delays through DFW though built-in to the
travel times. I realize the best routing is from LAX. Connecting through
DFW is a chore, given the ever present weather. MD-80 and 757 the
standard fleet. I must say AA is reminiscent of Greyhound Bus Lines.
Where AA is sorely lacking apart from their fossil fleet is in their
onboard amenities. I think the overheard TV screens are adequate for
travel, however their choice in second rate, patriotic films is
appalling and embarrassing for an airline that seems to covet the LAX-
JFK set. Delta and United P.S. are far superior experiences at the same
price structure. The flight crew was professional and not as surly as
others have reported. They do seem to spend an awful amount of time in
the galleys reading magazines, and nibbling off the First/Biz class
pasta. Has there been a new 'deal' made amongst the unions that allows
for this sort of intransigence?

STL-BOS, outbound in 1st, rtn in coach. The planes were as clean as
possible considering the age of the aircraft. The 1st class service is
more than adequate especially considering that on a three hour flight
the attendants in the coach cabin almost didn't serve the whole cabin.
The attendant in 1st had already completed the drinks portion of the
service before the attendants in coach had gotten out of their seats.
If these people are so unhappy with their jobs, find something else to
do. We're just the passengers - it's not our fault! On the other hand,
the ground staff both in STL and BOS (especially BOS considering the
chaos that is the American terminal at Logan) were great from check in

SFO to JFK on June 4, 2007. I can easily understand weather related back
ups and air traffic control problems. They are the events that airlines
cannot control. But my recent flight on American Airlines was adequate,
with cushionless seats and a previous passengers used chewing gum left
for me to find in the pouch in front of me. There are two things that
upset me more than that. When we landed at JFK at 9:08 we taxied over
tot he terminal arriving at 9:12. The baggage handlers immediately began
unloading, but the pilot informed us that there was no agent to meet the
plane, so we would need to wait for the agent before disembarking. Well
we waited for almost 35 minutes before the agent arrived. Many of the
other passengers were trying to make connections to Europe, but were not
fortunate to do so. Their luggage made it, but they didn't. Waiting for
the agent was my first peeve. My second peeve came when I contacted
Customer Relations via aa.com. The response that I got from them said
that my issue was due in part to "Air Traffic Control". Since when did
Air Traffic Control start doing the agent gate assignments for American
Airlines? What would have happened if someone had a medical emergency?
American was aware of the fact that this plane needed immediate
disembarking as the passengers making European connections were all
given gate information for their departing connections. American
Airlines really fumbled the ball on this one.

on B767 to Buenos Aires very uncomfortable: hot during the entire
flight, no seat recline, no drinks service, a so-called "meal" an
anorexic would be hungry after. Tiny bottles of wine at $5 each --
bought a couple of awful Chardonnay. Only one pleasant employee
throughout the trip and that was check-in agent at Las Vegas, could not
have been nicer, otherwise indiiferent rather than rude. Not a single
water or juice run during the 10.5 hour flight, FA disappeared to mid-
plane galley for most of the time. IFE a joke - three empty seats in my

SFO to EZE, scheduled via DFW. Trip was a mileage award in economy for me and my partner. We
never made it to Dallas. While waiting to board our SFO-DFW flight announcement was made that Buenos
Aires-bound passengers should contact a gate agent. The flight to Dallas was supposedly delayed and
we wold not make the connection to EZE. No problem, got quickly rebooked via MIA. When we arrived in
Miami our flight to EZE did not show up on the departure monitors. A helpful gate agent told us that
our flight was cancelled for mechanical reasons. Fortunately, AA had an earlier MIA-EZE flight which
was still at the gate. The gate agent quickly got us seats on this earlier EZE flight. We barely
made it onto that flight as it had already closed. 'Our' agent (the one who got us the seats) had to
argue with other AA employes to let us onto the plane! Great job!
As it turned out we were seated in the last row in economy, the crew rest area. The flight
attendants were visibly pissed that somebody had booked us into these seats. Nonetheless, they were
very professional and friendly, obviously realizing that it was not our fault. Dinner (we had some
beef dish) was pretty good. Wine was free (got 2 mini bottles). The plane, a Boeing 777, also had
IFE. Our bags also made it to EZE, 2 days later.
On the way back we encountered similar problems. Our EZE-DFW flight was delayed (we later found out
it was actually cancelled because of crew rest issues). We found out casually by talking to an AA
pilot. This information was then confimed by a gate agent. No announcements were made and the
departure monitors still showed the flight as being on time. We walked over to the gate for the EZE-
MIA flight and got quickly rebooked via MIA. Flight EZE-MIA was ok, dinner was not as good as on the
MIA-EZE segment, and there was a $5 charge for beer and wine. IFE did not work (no movies). The MIA-
SFO segment was boring, only bagel with turkey and cheese offered for sale plus some junk food (M&M,
etc). Otherwise just drink service. No IFE. Again, our bags eventually caught up with us, 2 days later.
Overall, my impression of AA was not that great. The experience was rather chaotic, and we were
lucky that we did not get stuck in either MIA or EZE. Also, that our bags got delayed both ways was
a little bit much. I will most likely fly another airline on my next trip to South America.

looking like it went through a recent refurbishment. On return it was
satisfactory - clean cabin, but pillow covers were from the last flight.
All flights on time and luggage arrived promptly. Cabin crew pretty
much did what they were supposed to do - nothing spectacular, but
nothing deficient. On the return from SJU to LAX we were right in front
of the only toddler on the flight who was kicking our seats and
screaming uncontrollably. The flight attendants were trying to block
off the last two empty rows "for security reasons" but relented when we
explained the situation. We were thankful they understood. The one
major gripe I have is that there is not even a small snack offered on
these long haul flights. Even the hour long SJU-SXM flights offered a
bag of doritos. How incredibly cheap and short-sighted. Buy on board
sandwiches (available for $5) ran out so some pax had to go hungry. I
was lucky enough to get one, but if I was one of those who had to endure
a 7 hour flight without a bit of real food, I wouldn't even consider AA
again. It's almost an insult that they make you buy junk food for $3 if
you wanted anything to eat.

JFK-SFO on a fairly well looked after B762. Onward connection, although a codeshare would be an
Alaska B734; just as well as it turned out. Plenty of reason to be dissatisfied with American. We
used T9 at JFK which promises to be completed in Spring 2007. I don't know how they define Spring;
we travelled on 31 May. We were guided to self-service check-in which managed to produce 3 out of 4
boarding cards. Mine for SFO-PSP would not come out of the system. The check-in agent was actually
charming but had to enlist help to ensure that we could leave JFK with a full complement of boarding
passes. Row 13 is a joke row and I complained. The Head Purser was probably genuinely concerned and
tried to be helpful in a slightly ineffectual way. The centre seats (and to some extent the side
seats) have virtually no recline. This plane is also used on international flights; I found this out
as I shall explain below. My own flight was 5h29m and, with no recline, the seat in front of me was,
of course, particularly close to my face. The only partial mitigation was that the centre seat
(between me and my partner) had not been sold. I had noticed that row 17 was luxurious compared to
the other coach seats and these, I was told, were for crew rest on International flights. So, I
deduce, they would sell row 13, with no recline, on international flights, perhaps JFK-LHR or JFK-
CDG. As previously posted AAL are cheap. There were two rounds with the trolley and an additional
water/juice round but not so much as a peanut to eat on a 5.5 hr flight unless you paid for it.

put me in the one open seat, which was broken also. This is the third
time in a row in C class on this route that my seat has been broken, and
all they do when you complain is add some Advantage miles to your
account and tell you that they will be upgrading the seats, however they
are not maintained.

STL-LAS rtn 1st class. MD80 both ways - old TWA vintage examples -
about time to retire these relics. Surprisingly, planes as clean as
possible with ample leg room. Flight attendants in both directions
pleasant if not down right friendly - actually smiling! The food didn't
look appetizing enough even to try. The drinks flowed freely without
having to ask.

SFO-MIA-EZE; returning GIG-GRU-MIA-SFO, all in first. Allow plenty of
extra time in your itinerary if you use AA to/from Latin America: of 8
AA flights to or from EZE or GRU so far this year, I've had two
cancelled, and 5 late -- and not by small amounts, either: typically 1.5
to 2 hours. Some flights leave MIA 11 hours late -- e.g., the next
morning. AA has chronic problems with aircraft availability at MIA
(especially 777s); chronic problems managing passengers at MIA (they let
volunteers deplane when the flight is overbooked, then spend 2 hours
getting the volunteer's checked baggage off the flight, for security
reasons); and chronic problems with both ground loading of freight and
baggage and with ATC at EZE (the Argentine ATC radar is out of service
due to lightning strike in March -- not repaired yet). Put it all
together, and the service is totally unreliable to Argentina. It's
better to Brazil, but this last trip (13 May), we left GIG late account
passengers delayed in the Immigration queue - and AA made no effort to
expedite them through - arrived over GRU approach late; got held because
the Pope was flying; ran low on fuel (limited from GIG to GRU account
landing weight restrictions after a short hop); diverted back to Rio,
where the crew ran out of time to work, and AA cancelled the flight.
Nice hotel where they put us up in Rio, though -- the Sofitel,
Copacabana.

LHR-LAX-LHR in Economy. I have flown this route twice before with AA and
numerous other times with other carriers. I have no allegiance with any
airline and tend to go for the cheapest ticket. The flight out of LHR
was non eventful and passed quite quickly. FAs were attentive and of a
cheerful disposition. The food was the usual 'chicken or beef' and I
opted for chicken. It wasnt particularly good and I still wonder why
flight crew are so eager to feed the passengers within an hour of take
off! The entertainment was poor and I found myself watching Ghost! How
long since that was released? A good book passes the time. The return
flight was of the same ilk. It was a full flight and the cabin crew were
perhaps not so cheerful. The meal was again - chicken of beef'! Is there
no chance of someone creating something a little bit different? Again
meal service was quick. I think we had probably only just gone over Las
Vegas. It kind of makes for a long flight when the main event is passed
within an hour and a half. I dozed for about an hour a little later on
but do not recall anyone coming round with water etc during the flight.
The aircraft itself was on the tatty side on the return journey although
the aircraft out to the States was ok. Would I fly American again after
all my moans? Yes, if the price is right. I do not yet have the luxury
of 'turning left' when entering an airplane so I guess I have to grin
and bear it and take measures to entertain, and provide refreshments for
myself and know that the journey will end eventually!

BRU-JFK-BRU in Economy. An old 767 with 2x3x2 seating configuration, but
spacious. Bought tickets with Brussels Airlines knowing that the flights
would be operated by AA. After having seen the previous comments, I did
not expect much and was more than pleasantly surprised. Both flights on
time, uneventful and generally very good. The FAs professional,
especially on the return flight, if not the most service-minded. Food
OK, two choices for the main meal both ways and a warm croissant,
coffee, orange juice breakfast before landing in BRU. Only the before-
JFK-landing junk food box should definitely be replaced by something
else! Alcoholic drinks 5 dollars each. Both planes seemed to be in good
condition, despite their age. No in-seat entertainment system in coach,
but the films shown on the overhead monitors were quite new. A pleasant
experience. Will choose AA again for this route, since I got full points
on my SN Privilège account.

I live in Dallas, so AA is the carrier I end up having to take most
often. In the last two months, I've flown them four times. Last-minute
"equipment" change means 25% of the flight gets bumped. If your seat
didn't exist on the new plane, you were out of luck. (Made that one,
fortunately.) Weather-related cancellation once we were already at the
gate. Couldn't get a guaranteed seat to our original destination, BWI,
for three days (!) Re-booked to PHI -- but bags still went to BWI, even
though they had never left the ground at DFW. AA refused to move them to
the PHI flight or to deliver them to us at our destination. Had to drive
1.5 hours each way to pick them up ourselves at BWI. Pilot announces
we're arriving early. We then sit on the tarmac waiting for our gate to
open up, for over an hour. But we can see plenty of open AA gates from
where we're sitting! On-time arrival, but no ground crew at DFW. Waited
on tarmac for 45 minutes before someone arrived to help park the plane.
And in general, have you noticed how AA FAs have become much ruder and
brusquer in terms of boarding? They arrive late and then say if people
don't sit down faster, the takeoff will be delayed. I agree, most people
are stupid about boarding, but don't blame your issues on your
customers.
