LHR-YVR J class on refurbished 767-300 with flat seats - comfortable and private. Good ground handling both ends with quick baggage retrieval. Fairly attentive crew, good food and OK wines. On demand entertainment system worked well with sound cancelling earphones. YVR-LHR J class on unrefurbished 767-300 with freshened up cabin. Personal DVD machines available. Decent lounge in YVR.

YYZ-PVG Executive First on A340. Good value for this route (ticket was 50% cheaper than AA or UAL direct from Chicago same date). Easy check in; lounge however, was very, very crowded. Old plane with tired cloth seats which were very worn and an outdated IFE system. Minimal offering of movies. Flight crew friendly & attentive but "tenured" crew on this prestigious route. Amenity kit adequate, but nothing special, as was the food. Seats are angled lie-flat, and do not have a privacy partition. On time flight and the price was great.

Ottawa-Winnipeg return. The outbound flight was a CRJ-705, which offered a good inflight entertainment system at each seat. Unfortunately, CRJ 200 on the inbound flight offered no such entertainment. In- flight service on Air Canada remains dismal. Attendants do still offer free hot and cold drinks, but chocolate bars and bags of nuts are sold for $2. Many passengers may not mind paying a little more for a decent light meal or snack on a two hour flight, yet the offering on routes operated by AC Jazz is very limited. Whenever flying on Air Canada's domestic routes, it is well worth buying a few snacks at the airport, or dining before the flight.

I travelled with a group of 10 persons with Air Canada. LHR-YOW : worn out interior in old B767, my seat couldn't recline, head phones didn't work, cabin crew indifferent, 4 pieces of baggage arrived only 48 hours later. YUL-FRA : mechanical problems discovered 1 hour before scheduled depart. No spare plane in YUL, 6.5 hours delay. Free orange juice and a piece of cold pizza at gate. Very old B767.

YYZ-LHR J class. New 777 with lie flat seating. Quick check in, busy lounge. Good service with well managed team. A few too many announcements which is typical of AC. Good food and interesting selection. Very good inflight entertainment and comfortable seats, good privacy and makes for quiet environment. Quick baggage in London. Much improved and AC transatlantic flight.

YVR to LHR return in Business/Economy. Basically Air Canada's product is a gamble - if you get a new or refurbished aircraft, the experience is great and compares well to the competition. That said however, if you get one of the older mainstream aircraft, you've paid the same price for a lesser product. Unfortunately we had the older aircraft in both directions. Outbound in business was a rushed meal with no individual movies and a dirty cabin. Return was in economy with broken seats and an embarrassing selection of main screen movies. As an Elite member for five years and an Aeroplan member for 10 plus years, Air Canada have my loyalty. Please continue to earn it and provide a consistent product. I'm becoming less optimistically cautious in recommending Air Canada to my European and American colleagues. Finally - what is with the In-Charge flight attendants these days - shouldn't the person in this role represent the "best of the best" - both recent flights seemed like Air Canada was using anyone for this very visible and influential role.

LHR-YVR-LHR. Economy. Both flights on A330, can't understand why we had footrests on seats on way back, but not on way out, but they were very welcome. Slightly more legroom on return trip also (row 23) which was a bonus. Took off punctually and landed a little early at YVR, smooth flight, plenty of beverage runs, always good to see. Food dreadful, a feature I've come to expect from AC. FA's average, IFE pretty dire. That said, all I really require of an airline is that it gets me and my luggage from A to B safely, on time and with a modicum of comfort. Return flight boarded punctually, FA's more attentive, I have often found this to be the case on night flights, perhaps because a lot of pax are snoozing and the job's a lot easier! First meal pretty dreadful, but breakfast fine. As we gained so much time, we were inevitably stacked over LHR for a while and then had to wait for a gate, but we deplaned eventually about 35 minutes ahead of time. Not a bad experience.

Seattle-Toronto-Halifax, Montreal-Toronto-Seattle. Flight crew varied from good to outstanding. Aircraft flown - A320, 767, A319 and EMB 190 and all except one of the A319s had the AVOD tv system which was nice. Not sure why the map feature was unavailable on every flight. Buy on board selections good enough for the length of each flight. Overall I feel that Air Canada does a good job in serving the needs of the flying public.

YYZ-FRA. Ancient 767 with old seats and very indifferent crew. Pilot put seatbelt sign on and left on for long periods of time despite very clear air and no bumps (so crew could relax?). Largest disappointment was no individual entertainment systems in Business Class. Even worse is the one movie that was shown on the grainy cabin screen was Beetlejuice - released in 1988 !!

FRA-YUL-LGA stuck on one of the non-updated 767's in coach on the leg from FRA to YUL -- I could swear the seat cushions dated back to the original launch (and they probably did). As worn and aged as the interior was, it was at least clean, and the service was very friendly. FA's were quiet, unobtrusive, and there in an instant if you called. Thankfully had no need for IFE, as I slept across the Atlantic. The updated 767's have personal TV's, but it's impossible (as far as I know) to tell which interior you'll have based on the plane designation. Due to ATC problems, my connecting flight was cancelled and I had to fly out the next day. Air Canada handled this very poorly, in some part due to a large event booking up a lot of the area hotel rooms that week. Although I was rebooked quickly and efficiently over the phone, the quest for accomodation was so discouraging that I simply booked a room for myself at my favorite local hotel and not deal with Air Canada for lodging. The next day, customs made me miss my (rebooked) flight, but an off-duty gate agent offered to help me and took a good 20 minutes of her time to not only re-book me, but also track down my luggage for me! Would that more airline employees took that sort of care of customers. Embraer E190 from YUL to LGA -- equipped with PTV's, but almost none of the channels worked on this flight.

YVR-FCO via YUL return in Y. YVR-YUL saw us on a 763 with new interior. In seat screens impressive. Buy onboard food ok but needs a more imaginative selection. Beware of Row 13 as there is no window on this row. Cabin crew friendly and service excellent with several water runs. YUL-FCO found us on an older 763 with original interiors and IFE. However, the seat configuration had a domestic Executive Class section - 38" seat pitch most welcome. Energetic, welcoming crew and food was good. IFE was old style central screen with an iffy selection of movies. FCO-YUL on our return a 763 with a configuration that included an Executive First cabin. Again, the crew were lovely and the food good. However, the choice of movies was odd. Same plane was used for YUL-YVR and we were back in windowless Row 13 seated behind the family from h**l that had the entire cabin in uproar for the entire flight.

YYZ-LAX-YYZ - A320 - Economy. Booked seats using Aeroplan points. Got to airport and was advised that spouse was sitting in a different row to myself and our daughter. Only row we could get so seat all 3 together was last row of plane, took it as we wanted to sit together. Was kind of surprised that no meals were served on this 4-4.5hr flight. Was also surprised to see the plane had been outfitted with screens in the back of the seat. IFE was ok, not a huge variety of things to watch but was ok. Had planned to watch Oceans Thirteen and although movie was in English it had Japanese subtitles. I restarted thinking I chose the wrong movie but it was the same and others around me had the same. Was difficult to hear so eventually gave up watching it. Return flight had spouse separated again from us, flight was fully booked so unable to get seats together, he wasn't too happy. Overall, flights were fine, left on time, attendants were ok, wouldn't say they were friendly though.

LHR to Calgary. Vancouver to LHR..Staff and service was very good. Planes getting on in age and to this point the IFE is very poor for a national carrier and on such long haul flights. I cannot see how Air Canada can justify such high prices for an ancient IFE system. On service I would use them, on IFE and the cost differential with the likes of Thomas Cook or Air Transat then the answer is no. Food was ok out but on the return - why do they think all British people only eat curry, and not a good one at that either.

Ottawa (YOW) to London (LHR) in economy. Both legs used Boeing 767-300 series aircraft, which are admittedly older. The seats and general condition of the interior on the outbound leg can best be descried as tired, but the airline is in the process of re- furbishing their fleet so I give them the benefit of the doubt in this case. The food was OK, as was the service of the cabin crew for an overnight flight. Flight depated and arrived on time. I used the on-line check-in system for the trip out and found it to be excellent - I have never checked in for a flight faster. I can't comment on the service at heathrow as I didn't use it in England. The return leg was on a re-furbished 767-300, and was much more comfortable. Good legroom and very comfortable seating, although I always request the aisle for space reasons. Flight crew were excellent as was the meal (surprisingly). Took off early and arrived on time. All in all, a safe trip, with no delays or lost baggage and good service.

YYZ-FRA, new 777 in excellent condition. Little problems with the IFE, seats were very narrow and not much space for the legs. Food was okay, service good. All in all three stars recommended, would take AC again.

Hong Kong-Toronto return. Check-in at HKG was very speedy and counter-staff confirmed my pre-selected seat and "special" meal in economy class. B777-200LR with a 3x3x3 seat configuration. Seat pitch was 32", width 18.5" and recline of 4.5". Inflight announcements made in English, French and Cantonese, with Mandarin and Taiwanese speakers also available. Meals were piping hot, although of standard fare (chicken, beef, etc) filling and tasty. AVOD was a bit dodgy. The key to operating this system is not to overload it by rapid touching of the screen. FA's stress this in their announcements - but few people listen. For a 15 hour+ flight, this has to be one of the best economy long-haul flights that I have taken.

LHR-YVR Economy. Comfortable seat and good, attentive crew. Awful vegetarian meals, good thing I took my own snacks on board otherwise I would have been famished. Shame they haven't updated ALL their aircraft with personal TVs, the selection of movies on the overhead TVs was pretty poor. Both flights were boarded in a very orderly fashion and left on time. The return flight to Heathrow arrived 30 minutes early. Three stars given for comfort and service, not for IFE and food.

Toronto to Kelowna non-stop return. New 190 aircraft with seatback entertainment units. Lots of legroom. Cabin crew worked the flight 80% of the time. Baggage retrieval quick at both ends. Flight 80% full westbound and 100% eastbound. Can't figure out why they are cancelling the flight.

YYZ-YYC Executive (business) class on an A321. Check in fast but agent failed to invite me to lounge. Continental breakfast items offered at lounge. The lounge is about average by North American standard but no match to business class lounges in Asia and many European airports. Priority boarding for business class passengers and those requiring assistance. Moderately tired interior. Seat pitch is average for North American business/first class but not very comfortable. Flight departed on time. No pre-flight drink, no hot towel, choice of 2 newspapers, no magazines. No drink service after take off but hot breakfast, consisting of 2 choices (both eggs). No AVOD IFE. Drop down LCD screen. Cabin about 1/3 full. Cheap headsets same as economy class. Drink service about 2/3 way into the journey. FA not particularly enthusiastic but gave the impression of doing their job. Flight arrived on time and took about 20 minutes for the first bag to come out and it was not one of the priority tagged bags.

LHR-Calgary-LHR Economy. New 777-300, seats comfortable and generous legroom for economy. AVOD screens on seat backs. Food wasn't great but I've given up on food in economy on most airlines. Flights left on time and arrived early. Service good on outbound but a bit lacking inbound.

YYZ-MEX-YYZ in economy class, Airbus 319. The inbound flight featured the new interior with a great AVOD system and pretty comfortable seats. The outbound leg was AC tired old interior. Inflight service professional on both legs but no free food served in economy class beyond snacks. Dropping off luggage at YYZ was slow despite online check in. Very good check in service at MEX.

Tokyo-Toronto on 777-400 with the new seat layout in Business Class. The new seats are great. Service is always the issue with AC. While not at Cathay Pacific levels, the flight attendants were friendly and helpful during the flight. The entertainment was very light. They should have at least 3 times the number of movies. My priority bags came onto the belt near the end.

YVR to PEK Executive class. This route is served by the old style 767, looking a little tired and in need of upgrading. Check in at YVR smooth and polite.Flight attendants very attentive and the food on this flight was great. IFE very old but worked and they did have some new movies. Return flight just as good, Beijing airport is a tad chaotic but this is no reflection on AC

LHR-YYZ-LHR Economy. Two hour delay at Heathrow due to late inbound, which check-in would have known about, but did not share with passengers. Further 1 hour delay on board to fix an electrical fault on a brand new 777. This flight was previously serviced by a 340, and I get the impression that there were not enough FAs to deal with amount of passengers on this larger aircraft. FAs uninterested, and announcements were unintelligible. IFE was touch screen on the back of seat, but basic features such as the flight path map not working. It was difficult to listen to the TV shows or movies on the headphones, but music was OK. Food awful. We suffered the worst turbulence imaginable, and I felt that the captain could have come on the intercom to re-assure nervous flyers. Return leg was chaotic at Pearson, as the ground crew really did not have a clue what they were doing with 3 London bound flights. Aircraft an old 767-200, although it had the new interior livery. My seat arm came off, and my wife's table was broken, which we discovered an hour into the flight. The FA did well to relocate us further down the cabin. We heard reports of other broken features on this particular plane. IFE was big screen at front of cabin, and two movies were shown. Service and food was better on this flight, and there were enough FAs on board. I could not recommend this airline.

YVR-KIX. Awful. Worst service I have experienced on ground and onboard. I travelled with my 5 and 3 yr old children. We were given three separate seats at check-in, and told I should negotiate with the staff at the gate about our seat arrangement. Then, I was told at the gate to negotiate with other passengers on board. That was it! If kind passengers had not switched the seats for us, my children would have cried all the way to Japan. Moreover, FAs on board did not care about the passengers, and chatted with each other. I did not see any hospitality from Air Canada staff or FAs. FA's attitude towards those who don't speak English well couldn't be worse. Overall, Air Canada offers nothing more than third-class service.

YXS-YYC-YWG return. Efficient, polite service from AC staff. Usual snack and beverage. Aircraft clean. Enjoyed Maple Leaf lounge in Calgary - good service and a retreat from the activity of the terminal. Bags off in YWG within 15 minutes and in YXS in about 20 minutes. Nothing spectacular, just usual AC service.

15 August 2007  Customer Trip Rating : 3 Star Rating

YYZ - CLT. T1 a mess as always (this for a 1 yr old terminal!) AC needs to find a way to dispense luggage tags automatically - the check-in at kiosk and drop off bags with staff is getting beyond a joke! Usual "drink and snack"flight" with a professional FA. AC still has gracious service compared with US carriers. GTAA (local airport authority) needs to take a grenade to the "East Satellite Terminal" where most of the AC Jazz flight to the US depart. Would rather spend the 20 minutes getting to the prefab terminal on the bus, reading or shopping. AC Jazz CRJ-200 clean but showing its age and design deficiencies - state of the art in 1991, now lamentable comfort (windows too low, cramped, overly small WC and thinly padded seats.)

FRA-YUL in Economy. B767-300 was worn and tired, as were most of the flight attendants. Service was somewhat rushed. No PTVs and several passengers' armrest controls for the in-flight entertainment were not working - no acknowledgement or apologies made by attendants. Seats were comfortable enough but offered no wings on headrest for extra comfort and support. The seat pitch was no worse than other than other airlines. Food was good.

LHR-YYC Executive First (business class). Rapid checkin at Executive First counter in LH. Boarding was a shambles as usual - priority boarding for passengers with difficulties and business class passengers was in place, but the usual scrum ensued. B767-300ER with the old interior. Very comfortable seat for sitting and relaxing. Impossible to sleep in though, not being a flat bed. Food was sub-standard for a business class product. IFE just main screen as in Economy, although after the first meal service the cabin crew produced personal DVD players (difficult to balance on your lap/on the tray table though). Cabin crew were late 30s/early 40s, generally pleasant but one older male was very indifferent. Priority luggage worked in Calgary, which was a nice surprise, although there was no Fast Track customs.

3 August 2007  Customer Trip Rating : 2 Star Rating

MAN-YYZ-MAN Y class. Very tired old 767-200 for this seasonal route. Air Canada appear to be saying 'we really don't know why we bother with this route anymore'. Outbound flight was okay despite uncomfortable seats and non-visible IFE - where I was seated meant I was in a blind spot. Service passable, but only because there was a less than 50% passenger load. Cabin crew purely functional. Food grim. Inbound flight dire. I checked in online and was given a window seat near the back of the plane. When I dropped my bags off, I was offered a 'window seat closer to the front' - 16K. Imagine my surprise when I discovered on boarding that there was in fact no window there at all - it was a seat in between windows. Flight full to bursting, service surly and disinterested - except for one young woman, who the second star is for - cabin hot and smelled like an old sock, food barely edible...all in all a low cost experience at twice the price. I've flown AC several times in the past few years and have been given the impression that a large number of their older check in agents and cabin crew despise the travelling public and want as little to do with them as possible. They have seniority and a 'job for life' attitude and couldn't care less. My older check in agent at YYZ had a 3 minute conversation with her neighbouring agent about her personal life while she was checking my bags, while a queue of at least a hundred people waited behind me. Maybe this is the norm with North American airlines these days, but it's not acceptable. I travel often on CX and JAL and LH, and AC is a budget airline in comparison. As a Canadian, I'm appalled and embarrassed that this is how the world sees us. I understand that they're trying to turn things around, but all the herringbone seats and AVOD in the world won't make up for people who don't care about their jobs or the customer.

Economy class YYZ-LIM-YYZ. Service ok, though the 767 plane they are using is the old configuration, with overhead screens. There was no inflight duty-free offered, even though every seat had a Duty-free catalog. When I inquired, I was told that there is no room on the plane for duty-free merchandise. I think the airline should not advertise a service if they are not going to offer it. Food was ok, though, much smaller portions than a few years back, and drinks are not offered by the can, but by the plastic cup.

FCO-YYZ Economy. A 767-300 - I understand interiors are being redone however until I am 100% sure all have been changed I won't fly on another one. The aircraft was old and tired looking, seats were very uncomfortable. FA's were nice and food was good except for the pre arrival snack which was pizza.

Economy Class LHR-YYZ-LHR on new 777. Excellent feature of entertainment AVOD system. Staff pleasant, and flight was enjoyable. Food was okay. On the return flights, the same movie selections were present even in a new month of July. Otherwise, comfortable flight.

FRA-YUL-YVR in Business Class. I'll not compare the seating on AC's ancient 763's with the likes of LH and BA - that horse has been flogged to death many times here and changes - albeit glacial in speed, are being made for the better. However, I am continually stunned that AC management seem to be oblivious to how nondescript their Premium Cabin service can be and clearly unable to improve it! Upon boarding at FRA, the passengers were settling in when a Steward approached my seatmate, a very petite Asian lady with a roll on bag. He instructed her to put it into the overhead compartment and stood there whilst she attempted to do so. This lady couldn't have reached the overhead locker if she stood on the seat as she was so short and I intervened and asked him to assist. His reply, wait for it... was "She hasn't asked me to help! And if I do it once, everyone will expect me to do it - especially in Economy" I waited for him to show that he was actually joking but he wasn't. He was dead serious! At which point, I suggested that he lift the bag for the lady. He did it but was not amused. 5 minutes later, I asked one of his colleagues if she could hang my jacket when she had a chance and was told "I am too busy." and she walked on. I'm sorry but for the price of a Business Class ticket, I expect some manners if nothing else. This Montreal based crew paled next to the LH crew that flew us from YVR to FRA 2 weeks earlier. AC management should take a few LH flights ex Canada and see how the job should be done. Besides that the catering was ok tho' the tenderloin looked and tasted like it had been boiled before serving, the entertainment system was rendered useless by cheap headphones that crackled very badly and a DVD player that worked for an hour and then died halfway thru my movie. Once in YUL, a similar aged 763 took us onward to YVR but this time the brand new crew was charming - one of them on her first flight, the other only 30 days into the job - so different from their colleagues with "experience". Catering was ok again but nothing to get excited about frankly. All in all, the trip was frustrating as one crew showed clearly that AC can do the job and the other crew blew it for all the employees.

LAX-YYC-LHR return in Economy. LAX-YYC on 319 with new interior, oversized personal touch-screen IFE, smiling FA and good food-for- purchase selection. Transatlantic flights on A330, old interior, but clean. No complaints about food, drink choice limited though. Air Canada seems to be very attractive to parents with young children since on both Transatlantic flights we had, in the words of one of the FA's, a "babyville". Why would parents subject their children, themselves and other passengers to a 10-hour non-stop screaming terror is beyond me. Air Canada needs to consider distributing amenity kits with ear-plugs if they want to keep their regular passengers. Other than that the flights were on-time, FA's professional and I got where I needed to safe.

LHR-YYZ-YWG in J-class. The lounge at T3 Heathrow is terrible - over- crowded and messy because AC shares it with other Star Alliance carriers and there is simply not enough room for everyone and not enough staff to keep it clean. On-board new 777 with the herringbone seats with very original, if not bizarre, lighting. Seats are very comfortable and give a good sleeping position but if you are travelling with some one, forget having any conversation because the layout means that you are at a diverging angle and will soon get a stiff neck. Service OK with fairly indifferent and ageing crew but food choice good with nice wine selection. On arrival at YYZ we were quickly through immigration and customs and into the AC lounge which is very spacious but somewhat lacking in character. The internal flight YYZ-YWG on an A321 was good with a much better and happier crew. However the choice and quality of food for business class for a 2+ hr flight was poor - wine selection good and reasonable seating. Bags were on the carousel first which shows that the priority handing for business class passengers works! Overall, satisfactory but transatlantic sector way behind the BA equivalent for service in particular.

YUL-LAS economy. Cheerful FAs for 5+ hour flight. The food service vended from a trolley was more varied than I have experienced on other carriers. United Mileage Plus points were credited to my account within 3 days of the flight. An additional plus for LAS traffic is that Air Canada uses the smaller Terminal 2 with quicker curb to gate time.

LHR-YYZ-LHR J class. Out on new 777-300ER with herringbone seat layout - seats comfortable in various positions including flat bed. Lots of privacy. Crew more cheerful than usual. Good service, better food and good cabin presence. Baggage in Toronto OK, immigration in Toronto a bit slow but unlike USA friendly and efficient. Return on 767-300ER with new interior similar to 777-300ER. Daytime flight, cheerful crew and good service with 2 full meals in business class. Attentive and much better AC experience than a year ago. 3rd round trip on AC London- Toronto in 2 months and general impression is much improved. Still not to BA J class standard but close.

LHR-YYZ-LAX Economy. LHR-YYZ new 777 - awful service, FA uninterested. IFE semi functional. Bathrooms filthy. Food miserable from LHR-YYZ YYZ to LAX utter nightmare - plane broken down, we were deplaned and got going again 2 hours later. Few apologies. We enjoyed the several hours from YYZ to LAX with a child urinating in seats behind us and screaming for about 4 hours - FA could not care less, despite a urine soaked seat, and passengers unhappy. The bathrooms were third world, with broken latches, and toilets that you would have to be desperate to use. Return route, LAX-YYZ-LHR was bearable, but FA surly and inattentive again. Bathrooms still dirty. This was the older planes, and we couldn't see the IFE screen. In short, if AC paid me, I wouldn't travel with them again ; avoid at all costs.

Toronto to Bogota - Executive Class. Flight was on an old B767-200 with very tight seating. Business class was 2-2-2 with no footrest, limited recline, no PTV, no amenities. Departed on time and plastic carton of juice or water offered. Headsets were the usual disposable type and useless since the mainscreen video broke down over 12 times during the flight. After the 10th re-set by the cabin crew we all gave up on the movie. Meal service was a single tray with a plastic bowl of "dead" salad, bread roll and choice of entree. I had the beef which was a 1" square of stewing beef on some mashed potato. Dessert was a single chocolate. Drink choice was fine except they ran out of red wine and the cabin was only 1/4 full. Cabin crew did their jobs and thats it. Purser was a miserable guy but our flight attendant was decent. How Air Canada call this their South America Executive Class I don't know. It's low cost, low budget from beginning to end. I guess we were lucky though since I hear the economy class passangers complaining even more.

CDG-YYZ, Business Class. Big surprise on boarding to see the 767 with the newly-renovated interior, as the outbound segment had the tired and very worn green seats. What a difference - seats comfortable, though the angular configuration is a bit weird as the seating is now 1x1x1. Great for individual travelers but odd when traveling with a companion. You have to get up or shout across the aisle to talk to your traveling companion. New on-demand video system very nice, movie choices more limited than BA or Virgin, but wide variety of TV programs a pleasant alternative. Food was quite good, with adequate and tasty choices (far better than the Toronto-based catering on the outbound flight). FA's pleasant for the most part, with only one visibly grumpy FA among the crew. Overall a giant step forward for AC in bringing its business class up to and in some ways ahead of its competition. Hope they keep up the momentum.

I booked business class around the world with Air Canada. My experience was that on the ground and in the air, there seemed to be staff morale and attitude issues. Staff seemed distracted and not interested in customers. There were times where groups of air hostesses would gather to drink and chat, and simply ignored customer requests for drinks etc. After flying Australia-Canada-Europe with Air Canada, I then flew Europe-Singapore-Australia with Singapore Airlines. The differences in comfort, service, staff attitude, staff politeness etc extraordinary.

YEG-YVR-YEG on A320's, with new interiors. Economy class there, Executive back. Crew on both legs friendly and professional. Seats were nice, but on return, were dirty. Considering the airplane had received the new seats just the day prior to the flight, that was quite surprising. AVOD great, and kept everyone occupied during this hour long flight. Snack fine, but meal on return was somewhat disappointing.

My third trip from Heathrow, through Toronto, to Mexico City. No other airline can touch Air Canada for price on this journey, although connections aren't always the best. Good food (for 2007), fairly roomy seats on economy class. Polite efficient staff. Online booking simple, easy and clear, BUT so confusing as to how many bags we may carry on. AC says two, Brits say one. (This is mentioned elsewhere, but the AC online site still maintains two).

LHR-YYZ May 10 2007. Chaotic boarding process at the very end of one of the piers at LHR T3 under seemingly constant reconstruction was not the best start to the flight. Flight was in a brand new 777-300ER, so was pleasant. Seat 19H had nothing in front of it and was very comfortable - looking at the seat pitch in the rest of the Y cabin, the same couldn't be said! Cabin staff were unremarkable and had seen better days - one in particular was either having an off-day, or should cash in her pension and do something else for a living. Rude and inexcusable retorts is just the start (the airline already have my comments!). I have had some pretty good staff experiences with AC of late, although that seems to be the exception rather than the rule. Food for AC "Y" class ( given in the last few years it has been pretty bad) was a step in the right direction, but some service elements were missed by the crew. If it wasn't for the new 777, and the excellent on-demand IFE, this flight would have rated a 2 at best. As always, the attitude of the crew makes the flight.

London-Ottawa return and experience was very decent. Flight attendants polite and decent food. The only negative thing might be the 767 from London was a little "used" - still had the old livery from the early 90's and smelled a little like a vacuum cleaner's bag. The return 767 plane was a newly refurbished one with modern IFE and new seats and the frosty livery.

Toronto to Heathrow and back 4 days later in economy aboard new T7; obviously clean and in excellent shape with top notch seat-back entertainment and semi decent catering, especially LHR-YYZ. What I can not understand is AC ordering this aircraft for ultra long haul - ten hours and more - with no footrest!

YYZ-LHR on brand new 777 in J. Easy online check-in, upgraded lounge, comfortable lie-flat bed, helpful crew. Air Canada has come a long way. I especially appreciated the "gourmet express" option, a large tray served right after take-off, maximizing my sleep time. The most stressless transatlantic flight in years.
