SAS Scandinavian customer review

I have flown SAS more times than I can count and have never had a bad experience. There are no hidden fees which most airlines seem to have these days the planes are always comfortable and the food that is served is good. On longer flights two meals and drinks (non-alcoholic) are typically included while on shorter flights there is food for purchase on board. A couple of times there have been slight delays with SAS but as I have been informed of the delay in plenty of time there has never been an issue where I have been stuck at the airport waiting.

Stockholm - Oslo - Kirkenes in March. As always within Scandinavia very old aircraft with limited legroom. SAS Go to Oslo free coffee but uncomfy seat. Upgraded to Plus to KKN. Only one alcoholic drink was free of charge no food available not even a sandwich. Flights on time.

OSL-TXL. I was originally booked to fly with Lufthansa. A couple of hours after I checked-in online the day before I was supposed to travel Lufthansa sent me an sms to inform me that my Lufthansa OSL-FRA sector was cancelled to Lufthansa pilots being up to one of their capricious strikes again. This Lufthansa cancellation caused me a lot of inconvenience. Furthermore it was all in vain trying to call Lufthansa's reservations in Norway and elsewhere in Europe - lines were too busy to get through. So despite my very busy schedule I went to Oslo's Gardermoen airport where SAS do the ticketing of Lufthansa. In a very short time SAS rebooked me on their direct morning flight from Oslo to Berlin therefore greatly reducing the inconveniences caused to me by Lufthansa and Lufthansa pilots on strike. Check-in and boarding for this SAS flight were a breeze. The onboard service was very good and the staff were very friendly. I definitely recommend SAS on this sector. I had paid extra to fly on Lufthansa as I had to be in Berlin early but in hindsight SAS is cheaper more reliable and better than the competition.

SFO-CPH-DUS My wife and I took SAS on Mar 8 to Dusseldorf. On the 19th we returned home in reverse order we had the same good service each way! The Crew were more than helpful plane was clean on time comfortable food was good. The in-flight entertainment is not on demand but everything else was good no complaints here. I will use this airline again.

I travel a lot to Norway for my job. Here was our travel plan: TRO (Tromso)-Osl-BRU. We started on 26/03. Due to a snowstorm in Oslo our plane was 6 hours delayed we reached finally Oslo in the evening. We understand right away that weather is unpredictable so not a problem. But once in Oslo there was a huge mess. All flights were cancelled thousands of passengers all over baggage lost. We could not reach our final destination and nobody could tell us what happen with the luggage. We had to queue to two different counters for 6 hours in total to be told that "employees were going home" that they did not know how to handle the mess and that we were invited to exit the airport and find an accommodation by ourselves! All was booked in Oslo nobody could find accommodation and we ended up sleeping on the floor of the airport. They did not offer any water any voucher no communication from the airlines so far. We spent around 23 hours in the airport. This is totally unacceptable! We queue for another 8 hours the next morning and finally I was lucky to get a late flight back home but there were still thousands of people left in the airport.

SAS inflight and on the ground service is appalling. The standards are very low with extremely rude and uncivilised behaviour by the crew in Scandinavia admittedly the service was worst in Norway. This review concerns our return trip with SAS to Iceland from Sweden to Iceland via Norway on 23rd March 2015. SAS GO customers are in the majority but they get the worst treatment. Not only do they have to pay for all meals now they pay for a glass of juice and are only allowed one little half-filled glass of water-no matter how long the journey you will not be given water unless you pay for SAS small bottle over priced-water again and again 3 euro each time. On the ground in Norway as we were boarding the craft the lady checking our passes did not look at us nor did she greet or wish us a nice trip she seemed unhappy and stern - we smiled and greeted her but no response.

June 4 2014 Newark to Copenhagen and June 18 2014 Copenhagen to Newark. My wife and I chose SAS because we were travelling to Denmark and believed Scandinavians would provide the finest 1st class travel experience. It was our first vacation in 31 years. The 2 transatlantic flights cost us $6756. We researched the airline extensively. The planes we were on were at least 15-20 years old. The gourmet meals shown on their website was actually a microwaved tiny meal the overstocked snack buffet they advertised was a few bags of chips a few cans of soda and 2 bottles of wine. Even the very polite crew couldn't make up for this. Plus it was the same on both flights! Never again will we fly SAS.

SFO-CPH. Perhaps the worst long-haul flight I have experienced. I have flown by SAS often in the past and have been very pleased with the quality. Not anymore. It is really sad to see that the service has come down so much in recent years. Food and Beverages: Only one complimentary non-alcoholic drink together with meals was served. Fortunately the staff served complimentary water between the meals (10+ hour flight). All thanks to them! Only one meal option was offered and it was frankly terrible (some meat cubes). Seat / Cabin Comfort: The seat armrest broke down often when I leaned on it. Legroom in row 23 was good. No water in one lavatory. IFE system: The system must be rebooted many times before it started to work. Small screens no on demand content no way to pause or rewind etc. Staff Service: The staff at check-in was excellent. The cabin crew certainly did their best but too bad they are forced to serve this kind of quality. I wish them all the best.

SAS Scandinavian customer review

(Iceland)

I had a two-stop-flight (KEF-OSL-CPH-LIN) return. It was for me the only option that fit my schedule as I needed to be back in Iceland on-time. So I had a 5 hour over-night stop-over in CPH airport. The price was excellent I paid 600 for PLUS class. The service was overall very good the space in the plane on 4 of the 6 flights excellent as the seat next to me was empty. The flights were on time except for the last leg which was 45 minutes late (but was still acceptable for reaching my afternoon meeting). What motivated to write this review are two things: 1) I was impressed by the service on the CPH-LIN flight. Especially on the return flight I was treated extremely nicely by the staff. They even packed me a lunch bag with food and drinks for my over-night stay at CPH airport ( I arrived at 0.45 and my connection was at 6.15 am so hotel was not really an option). 2) I really enjoyed the shower service at the CPH lounge. Very polite staff and extremely relaxing after my overnight stay at the airport.

As my flight (CPH-EWR) was operated in the first retrofitted aircraft (LN-RKN) with the all new cabin product the trip was a very interesting comfortable and satisfying experience. The cabin creates a nice atmosphere the IFE is above average space is okay (I'm 1.80m) and so was the food.
