"incredibly disappointing"

Trip Verified | My recent experience with FlySafair was incredibly disappointing. A delayed flight for 4 hours caused us to miss our connecting flights, and the lack of customer service was appalling. While the air hostesses were fantastic, the ground office staff and complaint handling personnel were unhelpful, dismissive, and added to our frustration. They also charged for additional Luggage whilst mu ticked allowed for two bags.

Trip Verified | Our worst flight experience. We got to the airport 2 hours early. The queue to the baggage counter was ridiculous with only 1 person checking in customers and One person was checking in a huge group that was allowed to come in and cut the queue and make their own queue because they were part of a travel group. There were calls for other flights to come off the queue and be assisted. Yet our flight no one called. When we finally made it to the counter they tell us the drop off closed 15 mins ago. We asked but this is not our fault and that no one called. We even asked while in the line and they said not yet and to remain in the q. My mother in law was then forced to leave her bag and run through the boarding gates to the flight. We were not able to check in the bag. This is ridiculous. The queue, the service the entire flysair is a mad house. No other airline had this issue this day.

“handling of this crisis was alarming”

Trip Verified | I recently had a distressing experience with FlySafair on Flight FA-463 from Cape Town to Durban on October 3, 2024, and I feel compelled to share my story. Initially, our flight was delayed and then turned back due to multiple onboard medical emergencies, with several passengers losing consciousness. This situation not only raised serious safety concerns but also meant that my family and I missed an important conference, rendering our trip unnecessary. The airline's handling of this crisis was alarming, as there seemed to be a complete lack of preparedness for such emergencies. As the delay stretched on, the conditions onboard became uncomfortable. The lack of adequate ventilation made several passengers, including myself, feel ill and light-headed. We felt compelled to disembark for our own safety. Throughout this ordeal, communication from FlySafair was virtually non-existent; we received no information about how long we would be grounded or when we could expect to arrive in Durban. To add insult to injury, FlySafair offered us a partial refund for our return flights but denied any refund for the outbound leg. The vouchers they issued are useless to my family and me since we have no intention of flying with an airline that demonstrates such a disregard for passenger safety and responsibility. Overall, my experience with FlySafair was incredibly disappointing. The lack of customer service during a crisis and the inadequate response to our situation have left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a customer. I cannot recommend FlySafair based on this experience and urge others to consider alternative airlines that prioritize passenger safety and effective communication.

“they don't care”

Not Verified | I won't book FlySafair ever again. They are insensitive. On the 29th of September we were 5 minutes late for Baggage, yes I know our fault due to 2 big accidents. At 11:10 we were at the FlySafair Customer Support resale counter to move our flight or get a voucher and the lady refused to help us. She kept on saying there are no flights and I must phone the call. I logged my query on the Chatbot AI, phoned and sent an email. Was not assisted. Since then I have phoned every Monday and everytime someone says they will come back to me. And they don't. Today I phoned 3 times, each call 30 minutes plus. To be told now they can't help as I should of sorted it out at the resale counter. R9000 later and they don't care.

"she was absolutely amazing"

Trip Verified | On December 1st 2023, I had booked a flight for my dad and his brothers to Cape Town (I joined them), we were helped by Thabile Mchunu at Counter 63 and she was absolutely amazing. My elders had never taken a flight before and he kindness and friendliness was amazing and helpful to calm the nerves.

"unwillingness to assist or help

Not Verified | This is the second time due to this airline that I have had issues with my checked in luggage. Recently; I was flying Durban to Johannesburg to catch my international flight with my 2 y/o son. After being told my check in luggage wasn’t correct, I left que to repack , wrap the bag and get back in que ( all which lasted just about 10 min) after getting to the front desk again , I was met with the most uninterested service lady which then looked at me and told me I missed bag drop off now (with 5 mins) and she can’t do anything to assist me and to get another flight. After being sent away and a heated conversation at another desk, a lady told me I could still make the flight ( which after all this commotion I also almost ended up missing) but no check in luggage for me or my son. We live abroad and was forced to leave all our belongings in SA for which I now have to pay literal thousands to get back as well as repurchasing clothes for my child which ended up arriving home with 2 sets of clothes. The unwillingness to assist or help with the luggage after a mere 5 minutes of delay is mind blowing to me as much as the attitude of the lady who assisted me. Will never recommend or use Flysafair again.

Not Verified | First time that I have traveled on a Flysafair flight that had so many delays. It landed 10 minutes after the scheduled time. Had to wait another 15 minutes on the tarmac for the busses to arrive.

“Airline service is poor”

Trip Verified | Have noticed over the past months that I have flying with Safari that there is a clear discrimination between priority customers and normal. The way I have been treated as a normal boarding customer is just accepted is society. Today I have waited as normal for priority to board until there was no one left in the line. Yet I was still kept back from boarding. The attitude of the airline staff and policy is no longer acceptable from the staff boarding the customers. On my flight out of Johannesburg on Tuesday 9th was just so bad. The staff were standing around not interested in boarding me as a customer until I told them they have a job to do. Airline service is poor.

“Absolutely horrendous airline”

Not Verified | Pathetic service from this terrible airline!! Flight was delayed by 5 hours, and was only informed at check-in when I was at the airport. Customer service is even more pathetic. They could not assist. All they could do was give a lame apology. Not even accommodate me on an earlier flight. They did not care that I had to miss my scheduled meetings etc. They could not even accommodate in a lounge to wait the 5 hours. Absolutely horrendous airline. I do not recommend! This is not the first time this is happening! They told me to forfeiit any obligations in Cape Town.
