"very rude employee"

Trip Verified | We spoke to a very rude employee. The kind of person who makes a perfectly wonderful day take a massive nose dive into the depths of hell. He was at the help desk for adding personal information to your boarding pass in the E gates, turned out I needed to go to a different help desk. The straw that broke the camels back, when I asked “where is it?” He responded with “I just told you.” But in that way and tone that simply makes you worry that they must have nobody that cares about them in life and choose to take it out on customers at the airport. It’s a shame, I’ve been through this airport 4 times and it was all wonderful, until I encountered this beast. Completely overshadowing the previous positive experiences. Do the airport a favor and train this man on how to not be horrible. Thank you.

"It's a hit or miss"

Not Verified | It's a hit or miss. Arrival has been a breeze, always, But departure is another story. Never had any issues on arrival mostly early morning flights, i.e. between 7 and 8 AM. Passport control took around 5 minutes, just a few people in que. But a few time on departure had to endure 2 - 3 hour waits in an absurdly long and slow moving line for the security bag check. Finally at got their and there were no clear instructions on what to take out of the backpack and what to leave inside. I took out the laptop and put it outside and was immediately told you dont have to do that. Then there was a bunch of cables and cords for my laptop, camera, camcorder etc, I left them inside but after the xray they got confused to what it was and pulled me aside for a secondary, then just emptied out everything after a thorough search they told me to proceed, but I had to clean up the mess myself, with 10 minutes left to catch my flight. I literally had to grab everything in my hands, including my shoes and belt and ran to my gate where I had to plead with the gate agent to let me board, couldn't speak because I was out of breath, and I am sure I was cutting a pretty picture, all sweaty, my shoes dangling from one hand, my belt and cords and cables from the other hand, and my trousers threatening to drop any moment because I wasn't wearing the belt. The gate agent fortunately was a kind soul and allowed me to proceed to the aircraft. This was Air France. And I have had similar incidents, multiple times at Schiphol. Maybe I am just fortunate, or my luck has stretched too far, because I have not as yet seen or met an "aggressive" or "rude" staff member at Schiphol!

"extremely rude and not at all polite"

Trip Verified | I was surprised by the personnel at the security gate and how impolite and not very well trained they were. Three personnel were impatiently telling me at the same time what to do even though there were no passengers at the security gate. Unfortunately I had forgotten a sealed bag with a perfume in my bag and the woman who searched my bag was extremely rude and not at all polite or forthcoming even though I tried my best to be helpful and polite. What a bad experience.

"security staff were very rude"

Not Verified | Overall I find Schiphol very efficient and clean and it's a great airport for transit. Traveling from UK to Asia via Amsterdam is very easy but on the way back there is an additional screening. The staff who managed the queue were super friendly and the process was well organised as usual. The wait is only a few minutes which was bearable. However the actual security staff were very rude this time. Three passengers were allowed to put their luggage onto the security tray but the security staff kept pushing my trays back saying "other passengers first". I have never seen this before as normally you just let the tray onto the belt and collect it on the other side of the security - what the point of waiting?

"disappointed in this airport"

Trip Verified | Schiphol airport is one of the airports with the best organisation, connection and variety of stores, restaurants and boutiques. I travel through this airport often and over the years it has grown on me. But today I am writing not to express my affection for this place, but I wanted to write how this airport cost me today, because my bag failed to arrive to me on time. This time I was transiting from Belgrade to Luxembourg, and my key off was a bit shorter them usual (about 1 hour). I landed in G gate, and the next flight was in B gate (30min apart). I was the last person to exit the plane; and yet I made it to the flight in ease but My bag got lost in transit. Now I'm stuck in Luxembourg, unable to attend the business meeting I came here for. I am disappointed in this airport.

"most rude security staff"

Trip Verified | Transferring from one KLM aircraft to another withing the transfer zone for a connecting flight to the UK. Having to go through the most rude security staff I’ve ever experienced at 4:00am in the morning. I’m being addressed by extremely rude staff with zero manners, requesting everything off, to the extent that I had to show my underwear. I’ve just been through a security check before boarding and again you are requested to take laptops, phones, the lot out again. The most pathetic and excessively rude request was that all sealed unopened water bottles given by KLM onboard the previous aircraft, carried within the transfer zone to another KLM aircraft are having to be chucked away.

"unnecessary queueing"

Trip Verified | I travelled on a Sunday evening and it was quite quiet. Staff did not fully utilise the security check facilities, meaning that there was unneccesary queueing, while some staff stood around quite visibly. The passport control was confusing as the actual passport check desk was empty while two policemen stood off to one side. When I walked through, trying to ascertain what was supposed to happen, one of the policemen informed me, quite rudely, that he was there to check my passport. This was not made obvious by the layout and he spoke to me like an idiot, as if it should have been obvious. It would have been obvious if he was actually located at the passport control desk, and not loitering off to a flank, speaking to his colleagues - unprofessional.

"rushed and stressful"

Trip Verified | My wife and I went through Schiphol at noon yesterday (Oct. 15) en route from Budapest to Vancouver. We were looking forward to browsing the shops and then getting to our gate with time to spare. Unfortunately the incredibly long wait at passport control made our visit rushed and stressful. Why is this a problem? Most of the automated control gates were not open and there was no organized lines to the 4 that were running. Staff were doing their best to achieve some sort of order but were overwhelmed by desperate passengers trying to make their next connections. The result was that some of the lines were arbitrarily cut. When we finally were proceeding toward an open machine our line was stopped and we had been to merge with the adjoining line. We spent over an hour jostling with other passengers in a hot cramped area. This is not acceptable for a major airport in a first world country. I thought that the Dutch were supposed to be efficient and organized.

"rude, aggressive and just horrible"

Not Verified | Schipol is a really great airport - accessible, well-serviced, free WiFi, clear signage and decent shops. But it's always let down by the appallingly rude, aggressive and just horrible horrible G4S people at security. We all know it's a necessity but there are airports with security that do it with charm and civility - Berlin, Cape Town, Kyoto, to name but a few. I don't know if G4S deliberately employ swine or if they train them that way. But they've got some real pigs working here.

"passengers are commodity"

Not Verified | Cramped, over crowded, staff at coffee corner C gates totally desinterested. General staff attitude at airport: complete disinterest, passengers are commodity. Painful for such a small country that should cherish the passenger activities.
