"Not recommended"

(Colombia)

Trip Verified | We flew from Houston to Bogota in a night flight, so the first thing you would expect of a night flight is to have a comfortable pillow and a thick, nice blanket. That's the first mistake, no pillow and some cheap blanket that made no difference to the super cold AC. Well, we won't sleep, let's watch a movie or something with this nice DirecTV screen in front of us. Surprise! The screen won't let you open even the flight map without swiping your card for 8 dollars. I guess I will have to use the United App and watch something there, but I'm running out of battery. Surprise, only Business and Economy Plus rows have power outlets. United Airlines' staff are nice and caring but anyway those mistakes make me have a bitter experience with them. Not recommended.

"Will fly United again!"

(Switzerland)

Trip Verified | Tampa to Zurich via Newark. Good ending for my florida Vacation. I brought a upgrade with miles , TPA to EWR on time with nice Fa `s and decent food. The Polaris Lounge in EWR is a huge hit. Nice food at the dining room and great cocktails at the bar (try the Manhattan) and a smooth and on time flight to ZRH with smiling and caring FA`s. Will fly United again!

"how selfish this company is"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Wilkes Berre to Albuquerque via Chicago. I have never been so heartbroken in my life. I booked my flight months prior looking forward to a wonderful vacation reuniting with my family, then a couple weeks before my flight I get a call my grandmother is in the hospital and not doing well she has about 3 months to live, I figured okay I can still be there in a couple weeks to see her. Flash forward to a week before my flight, I get another call my grandmother is fading fast and is in comfort care (meaning end of life) and she wont last more than a few days. I call the airline asking if there is any possible way I can get a sooner flight. And although the gentleman who was helping me through customer service was very kind and very sympathetic to my situation, trying everything he can do to help me, the manager denied me. I cannot believe how selfish this company is. They do not care about their customers they ONLY care about their money.

"stay far away"

(United States)

Not Verified | Norfolk to Houston. Booked through Orbitz. Paid $22 dollars per ticket for insurance. Don't do it! Even with the insurance United would not work with the agent to refund the ticket. Had to change due to Active Duty orders and still they would not work with me. I contacted Orbitz and got refunded my insurance on the tickets ($66) and they told me to call United directly to try and get a refund with orders. After being on hold for 25 minutes with United the rep told me she could not transfer me to the department refund and that I would need to talk to Orbitz again so that they could contact them. Requested to speak with supervisor and she had me submit a form online for my refund. Terrible customer service and the worst part is that I only needed to change my flights to an earlier time and cancel my return flight (not my families ticket) and they still would not work with me. Never will work with United again. I'm a rewards member with Delta and American and come to find out the extra $50 or $100 you are gonna pay is 100% worth it. If you are still reading stay far away!

"we couldn't have been happier"

(Australia)

Not Verified | Our family of 5 (3 teenage boys) traveled with United to San Francisco from Sydney and then we returned with United to Sydney from Washington DC (changed planes in San Francisco). Flights to and from San Francisco were economy on the new Boeing 787 which were fabulous. Seats were roomy (one of my sons is 6' 3") with good leg space. In-flight entertainment was great. We were particularly pleased with how smooth the flight was, little turbulence seemed to affect the plane. However it was the wonderful flight attendant staff which made all the difference. Attentive, polite, nothing was too much trouble.I am gluten free and had all my meals and snacks pre-ordered which didn't miss a beat. They genuinely seemed happy going about their work, chatting and laughing with my sons. Overall we couldn't have been happier. Only small complaint was the domestic flight from DC to San Francisco we had to pay for our in-flight entertainment on tiny little screens, $8US each (x5 for each family member) and no free snacks/meals provided on the 6 hr flight unlike Australian airlines, so be prepared with snacks.

"flight has a creeping delay"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Madison to St. Louis via Chicago. I arrived in Chicago to transfer planes in order to make it to St. Louis. The flight has a creeping delay, currently at an hour and a half delay. No notice was sent out to notify of the delay. No explanation is given for the delay. This is already an evening flight.

"need to upgrade these planes"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Cancun to San Francisco. United Airlines desperately need to upgrade these planes. We paid over $2000 USD for each seat on this flight, and the first class seats don’t even have tvs or usb ports. The seats are basically just wider seats than the normal seats. I have flown on Delta and American recently and both of those airlines are more updated with nice tvs, usbs, seats that fully lay flat and are way more comfortable. The flight attendants are nice, but I definitely do not recommend United Airlines.

"very last flight on United"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Newark to Port of Spain. If one’s wondering if customer service has died among the US carriers then any flight with United will confirm that sadly it is deep in the grave. If the insults of charging customers for every single small comfort ever conceived in private transport, weren’t already enough, the totally apathetic or even hostile attitude of the staff in anything but top tier business class, appears to demand that already deceased customers, rise just to be killed again. Passengers flying United are treated no better than cattle, or more properly cash cows to be milked, and then thrown off the plane. In both of our flights the only time the cabin crew even spoke to customers was to reprimand them or tontry and talk them into checking a bag. Heaven forbid they expend a calorie trying to welcome or make customers fee at home. The boarding process for our int’l flight was a keystone cops disaster which could have easily been avoided with simple crowd management measures. Instead they stuffed an entire four groups into two narrow lines - even though they had four and expected people to trample over each other. The solo cranky ticket taker was snapping at customers telling them to “go here, “ then no, there!” while a security person randomly deleted bags - by eye to get tagged and taken from customers as they entered the plane - no advisory, explanation, apology, nothing. Not a manager was to be seen during all this and our departure was over an hour late. Horrible experience from start to finish. That will be our very last flight on United ever.

"blown away by the service"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Today I took a flight from Halifax to Nerwark (Flight UA4149) and I was absolutely blown away by the service given by the flight attendant. This lady went above and beyond for not just me but every person on the flight, I was suffering from terrible sore throat and cold and felt terrible. She went to her own purse and gave me throat lozenges, and got me a cup of ice to soothe my throat purely out of the kindness of her heart and without me even having to ask and she also checked on me. I gave this woman a hug before I left the aircraft, she was caring and very witty she had us all laughing.

"Zero business ethics"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Their online booking is misleading (out and out tells you one thing but you end up with another). The staff is rude and “just do not care”. Whatever happened to the days when people were just nice to each other just because one can be? What happened to businesses that cared about their clients? Well some still exist - but it isn’t United airlines. They have extremely rude staff every single time I’ve flown with them. Lost my luggage out of Cancun but didn’t help me in the least to hook in with the insurance I bought. So stressful I just ate it and went on with life. This is literally the worst company on the planet to date for me to review. Zero business ethics. Zero customer care ethics. Investing in anything to do with United is out of the question. Flying with them - not if my life depended on it.
