Korean Air customer review

Flew from LA to Tianjin and return from Singapore to LA. The economy seats are the hardest of any I have ever flown and made it impossible to get comfortable on 11 plus hour flight. The food was not very good and best left uneaten. The stewardesses seemed like women out of Stepford Wives. All very pretty young and accommodating but not real.

Often fly KE 036 from ATL-INC then KE623 to NRT Manila. I must say I have been impressed with Korean Air. Their prices on business class have been almost half of Delta's. My most recent flight was on their new Airbus A380 service. The seats are the same as Prestige class on the 777ER but there is an added storage compartment next to the seat that can hold your laptop and pillow and blankets. The food and staff on Korean are excellent. Prestige class is the entire upper deck of the A380. There are lounges at the rear and front of the upper deck. The forward lounge has assorted vodkas and martini mixes and is self-serve. At the rear of the plane is another larger lounge with an attendant serving as bartender with a larger selection of drinks. Probably my only cons are the pillows and blankets are more comfortable on other international carriers I have flown. Also I now take extra bottled water on the plane with me and use the large storage compartment of the A380. They tend to be stingy with the water. Tiny glasses and it is impossible to get them to fill them more than half way. It is the same with the wine. But it is better than getting dehydrated on those long 21 hour journeys.

SIN to ICN return. KE644 and KE641. Boarding was quite fuss free and was boarded according to seat number aka from the back of the plane to minimize disruptions. Cabin Crew friendly on a full flight. Limited drinks offered upon take off. But if you require other drinks you will have to ask the cabin crew. IFE was average and some broke down during the flight. There were 3 choices usually Korean Western Asian. Food portion was like a kids meal. Small. Though I have to commend that the food was delicious despite a small portion. Cabin Crew messed up a little but cleared and provided professional service recovery. Return leg was amazingly different from the incoming flight into Seoul. Snacks were served prior to landing and includes a wide array of snacks which was good. Along with a cup of Ice cream which was refreshing coupled with cabin crew who were friendly smiling on both flights to complete a wonderful experience on Korean Air.

Flew Auckland-Milan via Seoul and return 3 weeks later Amsterdam to Auckland via Seoul. All 4 legs were excellent especially the staff. Only had the fully reclining seat on the Amsterdam-Seoul flight 80 degrees on the other three. Time Korean Air updated all their business class seats in order to stay competitive. We pre-booked our business class fares 1 year previously when we received an excellent deal. Food on all 4 legs were good to excellent love the bibimbap although they ran out of it on the 3rd leg. Wines offered were excellent although only 2 choices each of red and white. All in all a wonderful experience and definitely will fly them again if the price is right. One thing Korea Air must do and that is to make its website much more user friendly were unable to pre-book our seats on-line and navigating around the web site is difficult. Still unable to check whether my frequent flyer points have been credited.

KE 036 from ATL to ICN. Aircraft was an A380. Business class seating is 2-3-2 configuration. Although I prefer the privacy of international business class where all seats have direct aisle access and the window seats are single seats. I had 22A a window seat on this flight and there was no one sitting in the seat next to me. The window seats on the A380 have storage compartments built into the fuselage below the windows. This is provides excellent storage space for personal items like newspapers pillows or amenity kits. The top of the storage compartment is good flat space for setting a drink or a laptop. Once I was seated the FAs came by with a good selection of English and Korean newspapers. One thing they did not offer was a pre-departure drink. I was in seat 22A which is near the back of the business-class cabin. Many of the seats in this part of the cabin were unoccupied so it was very quiet and easy to catch a cat nap. Right behind the business-class cabin is the lounge. This is a large area with a bar and couch seating by the windows. One of the FAs serves as a bartender. There is an assortment of the usual alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages plus a menu of special cocktails the bartender will prepare. The lounge was a great place to meet and talk with my fellow travelers. There is also a smaller lounge in front of the first-class cabin but it has no bartender. The seats are full flat and the controls were easy to operate. The entertainment system also worked well. The selection of movies and games was adequate but there was less variety than on other airlines I've flown. The pillow and blanket while adequate was not as nice as others for international business class. One thing that Korean Air did very well was the food. American Korean Japanese and Chinese selections were available. I tried the beef-tenderloin five-course dinner with a nice cabernet. The steak was actually prepared medium to medium rare. Other airlines I've flown have been unable to manage anything less than well done. The best part on any Korean Air flight are the flight attendants who are incredibly attentive pleasant and attractive. The FAs on this flight upheld that tradition well.

GMP-HND in economy on B777. Hands down the best economy class flight I've had in recent memory. Incredibly comfortable cabin with a remarkable amount of legroom large video screen and overall pleasant cabin ambience. More importantly the crew was absolutely exceptional - extremely efficient attentive warm and highly professional - about as good as it gets. I don't fly KAL much due to my status on Oneworld and perhaps I just got lucky but if this is typical for KAL they're owed credit for a great in-flight experience.

Paris CDG to Brisbane 12 Sep 2013. Generally good value with little to complain about. They provide a compulsory free overnight stopover in Seoul on flights to Europe from Brisbane. The hotel used is excellent. Transfers to and from the airport are quick and efficient. We have noticed that inflight service is not as good in 2013 as it was in 2012 they no longer offer spirits or beer you have to ask. However they only offer fruit juice and water. Wine is offered with meals. Seat pitch was good with a bit more legroom in economy than some carriers. Food is average for Asian carriers usually a choice of 3 main dishes including one they always offer traditional Korean pickled cabbage served with rice and vegetables with Korean chilli paste in a tube and sesame oil. Nice if you like Asian food but it gets a bit repetitive. The western style menu choices are satisfactory "plane" food fair average quality. Staff are friendly and helpful and most speak reasonable to good English. French is spoken too on the Paris flights. Korean code share with Air France so if you want to avoid Air France you need to specify that you only want to travel on Korean Air operated flights when booking. The only problems we have had (repeatedly) are with seat allocations when we have requested a center aisle seat to avoid the inconvenience of being in a window row of 3 as some planes have. Despite repeated assurances that they have noted our preference for a center aisle seat and put it into their computer systems for all the subsequent legs of a trip most times it had not been done they denied all knowledge and we had to persist vigorously to get what we had been promised. Overall we have been impressed by Korean Air after two round trips Brisbane to Paris and return and it they are continuing to offer competitive fares which is why we started to use them you can happily give them a try.

13 Sep 2013 KE 607 Seoul Incheon - Hong Kong. 28 Sep 2013 KE 614 Hong Kong - Seoul Incheon. As an expat I have been traveling and working in over 12 countries in the past 10 years and have traveled on just about every airline in the world. My last airline travel was on Korean Air and have to say it was the most satisfying flight I have experienced! From check-in to disembarking it was the most pleasant experience one could hope for.

I've flown several times on the TLV-ICN route (both ways). The airlines is excellent. The staff are always very nice and welcoming very efficient. The food isn't very good but not worse than other airlines. Drinks are being served several times during the flight and some times even a pizza is served. The entertainment system is one of the best with many choices. ICN is my favorite airport if a connection is required this is the place to do it.
