Nanjing-Beijing in Y class, relatively new 737-800. Check in was efficient but the airport
staff not friendly. Boarding was smooth, clean cabin, not bad seat for economy class. Hot
breakfast with Western and Chinese options. not a lot choice for drinks. Cabin crews are
friendly and professional.

Just returned from Beijing using Air China. There was ample leg room for my 6 foot 3 inch
husband. The plane was clean and service was good. I drink only diet pepsi and asked for and
received without a problem. There are no tv's in the back of the seats, that was too bad. But
I found this airline to be totally sufficient. And taking into account the price of the
flight, it was a real bargain.

Sydney to Beijing return on A330,oth flights on time. No problems. Only issues we experienced
was food was all of Chinese origin and returning the crew had no customs entry cards in
English. Crew otherwise were helpful and friendly. The flights were cheaper than Qantas
alternative. I would fly with Air China again.

Sydney-Beijing return. Cabin clean, food good, entertainment system worked. The staff were
good and spoke Mandarin/English. The seats were uncomfortable.

Chengdu to Shenzhen in First. Check-in efficient and priority lane through security was good.
Lounge left a lot to be desired and did not provide a nice experience. Boarding was good with
priority lane and separate bus to plane. However since the priority bus left after the normal
bus, still had to queue at the stairs. Onboard welcomed and given slippers and drinks and
luggage was stored as well as coat hung. FA's friendly and caring but lack that something
personal which MH, CX or SQ have. Kept updated on a short delay and cabin was dimmed after
departure. Food served from the galley and they didn't use a tray which was a nice touch.
After landing had a priority bus which took us to the arrival hall. As usual in China priority
baggage is not working and the First class bags came out after other bags. Also annoying was
that the inflight entertainment was broadcast with sound, which was quite loud. All in all a
good experience and CA are good on domestic flights.

London-Beijing-Sydney return. Clearly they are a lower cost airline and you get what you pay
for. Seats not very comfortable but okay. Food good overall (avoid the spongy omlettes,
accept the excellent noodles). In-seat tv screens okay, film choice not great, games system
terrible (buttons didn't work on any of the 4 flights). No spirits is bad though, and though
I'd like to be more positive, my experience was that 80% of the stewardesses were not of the
helpful nature. However, all flights arrived on time, and my flights were approx £500 cheaper
than big-brand airlines.

I realize that a 10 score seems perfect and they are not perfect. However, for what you pay,
it is an excellent carrier overall. When you stack them up against United, Continental,
American, etc, they are actually a pretty good airline overall and better then most in many
regards. On the downside, for international flights they generally don't serve hard liquor,
have limited movie selections, and a majority of the flight crew may not speak English as a
first language. On the upside, the service is quite good, the crew is excellent overall, the
food is good for airline food, and they have many newer planes. The seating/leg room is good
compared to most other airlines I have flown and frequent flier miles can be used on their
site or United (a partner for them). Also, they do a good job of keeping the restrooms clean
as a rule. I know there are bad flights but these occur on all airlines. If you fly to/from
China on a regular basis though you will likely experience less problems with them than many
other carriers - at least this is my experience. For travel inside China I like them a great
deal. The only thing is that they insist on serving meals on flights no matter how short. I
routinely fly Beijing to Lanzhou (2.5/3 hours) and they always serve a full meal. Its nice
but I feel bad for the crew since they often serve meals in small planes (737s) in less then
ideal conditions. I don't mean this as a negative as much as it is an oddity of Chinese
domestic air travel compared to US travel.

HND-PEK-HKG. HND-PEK on a small plane, only half, food was decent. Arrived on-time, but had to
be bussed to the terminal. Transit procedures fine, although most of the desks are closed and
only one security lane a bit annoying. PEK-HKG flight full, large plane, A330 maybe. Food
disgusting. Arrived on-time, bussed to terminal again. Had in-seat entertainment system which
worked but was super slow. Screen terrible glare too.

London - Beijing - Sydney. I recently flew Air China for the first time simply because it was
hundred of pounds cheaper than the other airlines. I had a comfortable journey, the staff were
pleasant and helpful and food was nice. If you want to pay more for the better named airlines
you might get slightly better service or food or slightly larger seats, but it's a 3 star
airline and you get a reasonable flight for it. And let's face it, no matter which airline you
fly with it is never a comfortable journey to fly 25 hours to the other side of the world!

Melbourne-Shanghai-Beijing-Vancouver / Vancouver-Beijing-Melbourne. Our flight outbound from
Beijing was delayed twice by 3 hours and then cancelled completely, with no explanation as to
why. We spent Christmas day at the Airport. Food was awful - no western meals offered, and
although we pre ordered infant meals for our 13 month old, during the delays and
cancellations, she was not provided for at all. And the very few meals she did get were
unacceptable. Seats were uncomfortable, Entertainment was poor, as was hygiene of the toilets.
No English was a huge problem when we were trying to figure out connecting flights whilst
delayed in Beijing. Shrugged their shoulders and were told they "didn't understand". Our
stroller was supposed to be bought to us in Shanghai. No one knew anything about it, and it
was delivered to us broken, 4 days after arriving in Canada. Out of 6 flights, there was 1
that departed on time. Flight Attendants apart from serving meals may as well have not been
there. During one flight we were denied milk for our child! Overall, a bad experience and next
time, we will worry less about saving ourselves a few dollars - it wasn't worth it!

SFO-PEK-SFO flight. Seats extremely uncomfortable, and entertainment poor. FAs were okay,
although their english was not great. One thing that really bugged me were the delays, and on
both sides. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Air China for international flights, but are okay
for domestic.

After experiencing Air China for 6 flights, I can say it's not so bad. HND-PEK-LHR they serve
duck and it was delicious, also recommend their noodle dishes. Be warned that transit
procedures in Beijing Airport take a long time. You may have to ride a shuttle bus to and from
your designated plane, encounter exceptionally strict immigration officers and security checks
and walk some distance within the airport to get to the next step (indoor shuttle available
for 10RMB). I had only an hour for transit. I barely made it but my baggage did not. Best to
get insurance when flying with them I guess. I don't think stewardesses were biased on serving
Chinese speakers, but they were unsure on how to deal with foreigners due to language/cultural
barriers. Otherwise, service was straightforward and no frills, just polite and not overly
friendly.

Economy MNL-PEK-JFK-PEK-MNL. MNL-PEK is a new route and they use a 737-800. Seats were
average. They did not have enough pillows for everyone for the 5+ hour sector since, though
the flight was not too full. Cabin service not good. It seemed that the flight attendants were
hurrying to catch a nap themselves. IFE is not so good and Safety was not a priority. PEK-JFK
was even worse. On check-in, even though the announcement says they will board by row number,
the passengers lined up to get in so that wasn't followed. The food was awful and the blankets
didn't feel like they were washed. The trip back was better than the outbound one.

Outbound from Melbourne to Frankfurt via Beijing, was delayed for 5hrs and we missed our
connecting flight - we were told we would have someone there to assist us and get us on the
next flight. But when we got to Beijing, no Air China staff anywhere! We had to sit on a cold
floor for 4 hrs, then had to argue to get a hotel as the next flight wasn't for 8hrs. The
return flight wasn't as bad - on-time, but food was awful. The planes were all old bar one,
no individual TV's which is poor on long haul flights, the movie shown was an old chinese film
and a few adverts for cars, and "aeroplane aerobics" !

PEK-FCO-PEK-SYD in Business class. Business class check in staff at PEK terminal 3 were so not
interested to service passengers. Both flights (to Rome and Sydney) check in experiences were
bad - they need re-training for sure. All flights on time. Cabin crew friendly and
professional, they did what they can to help people. Good, tasty food on each flight, wine
selection not too bad as well. In-flight AVOD has been improved, more western films available.
PJ distributed 2 out of 3 flights, don't know why not included for PEK-SYD. Business lounge at
FCO is shocking, cheap wines and warm OJ - that's all you can have. Maybe CA should use other
lounge at FCO. Air China is one of the cheapest for SYD-Europe route, and would fly with them
again if ground staff service could be improved at PEK.

PEK-SYD-PEK. Outbound staff was ok, food eatable. Inbound flight was horrible. Toilets were
not cleaned, staff was rude. Seat was broken, so hostess ripped off the head part and told me
to sit somewhere else. Since I was traveling with my friend I didn't want to change. The
hostess simply put the head part back in and said "thats it". Food was ok, entertainment
system is a hoax. I started to believe in the improvement of Air China Service, since some
domestic flights are starting to become international standard, however this flight proved
again that there is no hint of continuity and hospitality - international standards are still
light years away from Air China staff training.

Vancouver to Beijing in A330. The plane was okay with personal video monitors but poor choice
of movies. Staff could barely speak English and food was passable. The toilets were not
cleaned regularly and were shabby. Air turbulence would be announced with seat belt signs
brought on but implementation was at the discretion of passengers. The legroom was good for
economy seats. Beijing-Delhi in a Boeing 767, outdated plane with almost no entertainment and
the food was the worst I have ever had on any plane.

SYD-PEK Business class. check in at SYD was smooth, Air China shares NZ business lounge at SYD
- definitely not to QF business lounge standard. Boarding was smooth, take off on time.
Captain a New Zealander, made announcement after take off and before landing. I was impressed
with the service improvement, food tasty, good selection of wines. PJs are provided.

HKG to PEK 8pm flight, delayed till 1030pm, didn't arrive PEK until 2am. The night before the
flight was delayed the same amount too. Not sure if this is a regular occurrence, but don't
recommend booking if you can avoid. Was asleep most of the flight but got there in one piece
along with my luggage, so cannot complain about the service aside from the delay.

Beijing-Xuzhou. A short 1 hour flight but Air China are becoming better. FA's were friendly
and could speak some English. The plane was a bit old (Boeing 737-200) and the warm sandwich
served (wrapped in foil) was really disgusting.

Moscow-Beijing-Hong Kong round trip. Very old aircraft, staff didn't speak good English. The
meal was awful. Return from Hong Kong was delayed for 1 hour and crew wasn't able to explain
what was happening. Most of the passengers were connecting in Beijing for other destinations
in particular for transcontinental - USA and Canada. Most of them had the same layover of 2
hours. After landing in Beijing we were running to our gate and Air China staff didn't provide
us with any speedy transit or assistance. The most weird thing was after we passed the transit
and were running to the gate, some guys on small cars offered to give us a lift and deliver us
to the gate. They showed their ID with Air China signs. When we were delivered to the gate
they required payment for the transfer - we were not told about it when we took the lift.
