"this airport needs a major facelift"

(Indonesia)

Not Verified | I've been to this airport several times. And as time passes by, I think this airport needs a major facelift. Terminal A was okay, clear signs but the layout was all over the place, two waiting halls in two seperate areas which is quite confusing. There were a good selection of F&B stores, the shops were good but they offer a small, thin magazine at exorbitant fares. Waiting times were good for departure but not for arrival. One baggage claim filled with 4 arrivals in one? Ridiculous. Taxi drivers would have shouted anything at you just to ride their taxi which is very expensive (a 3.75 mile drive costs US$7) Terminal B was the worst part. Leaking ceilings, queues a bit disorganized, and looks like a budget terminal or like a terminal that was converted from a conference centre. Good thing that this airport has a BRT and Railway station. Wi-Fi was quite fast. But the terminal building itself, I think, needs a major facelift.

"the facilities are quite good"

(Indonesia)

Trip Verified | There are 2 terminals, terminal A for most domestic flights (Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, Wings Air, Citilink), and terminal B for international flights and other domestic flights (Sriwijaya Air, NAM Air, Air Asia and Express Air). Terminal B is smaller than Terminal A, but the facilities are quite good. The security staff and ground staff are good. There are some shops that sell food and drink with reasonable prices. There are also some toilets and ATM for the passengers. Some minor issues are the lack of electrical socket for charging your gadget. The seat in the waiting room is adequate in quality and quantity. There are some traditional Javanese ornament in the airport.

"No food and drink shops"

(Indonesia)

Trip Verified | The Airport has two Terminal, old Terminal for Domestic only is called Terminal A, and the new one for Domestic and International is called Terminal B. There's no different security check for Domestic and International at Terminal B. First security check before check-in, second security check for boarding gate, then for International Departure you need a third security check, usually you need only two security checks. It's tiring with all the queuing. No food and drink shops at international departures.

"one of the worst airports in the world"

(United States)

Trip Verified | This is one of the worst airports in the world (domestic terminal). Not only is it filthy, crowded, and utterly disorganized, but if you arrive at any time after 9pm you cannot even buy a bottle of water anywhere in terminal b. There are also no water fountains. Your flight will also be delayed, and boarding zones will be ignored so you will push and shove and wait a long time to get an the plane. Even at the airport in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, you can buy a bottle of water. That airport is a tent. This one has many vendors, but they were all closed.

Yogyakarta Airport customer review

(Singapore)

This is the worst international Airport I have come across. Everything was so cramped in the arrival hall through immigration and up to exit that I was concerned about the safety of my family. Any kind of commotion can lead to a stampede. Similar experience while departing (I was going through domestic departure so no immigration) - A single check-in counter and a cramped waiting hall. One must also be careful about the Taxi services as the official taxi counter is quite a distance from the international exit. There are several other Taxi services waiting to fleece the first timers. Opt for the Rajawali Taxi.

A small airport with a single crowded waiting room. Only one restaurant and its food is expensive. The check in area and the arrival area is very crowded. I would recommend using Adi Sumarmo Airport nearby when visiting Yogyakarta.

Pleasant but rather old-fashioned airport. Most of the traffic is domestic and the terminal copes well with this. A good range of shops/refreshments in the departure lounge area which is well organised. You are very close to the aircraft (including the runway) so it does not feel claustrophobic. My only gripe would be the totally constant announcements of both arriving and departing traffic needed because the information on the boards was unreliable. No airbidges so you walk to the planes but this did make for speedy boarding. We had prearranged transport so I cannot comment on local transportation but it does have a train station which is rarity in Indonesia!

Yogyakarta Airport customer review

This small airport is totally overwhelmed by the amount of traffic it handles. For international passengers after checking in and paying the departure tax you proceed to a waiting room prior to passing immigration and security. You are basically waiting for a prior international departure to clear the next holding room. Once the prior international flight has departed you then proceed through immigration and security. The next small holding room only has capacity to deal with one flight at a time and there are absolutely no facilities in the holding room other than restrooms. If you're hungry or want to do some last minute shopping visit the few meager concessions in the check-in hall first.

Noticed some improvements from last visit about 3 years ago. Basically it is the same structure but only interior is much fresher. I noticed some new shops inside and outside. Inside the arrival hall there is a traditional Javanese music band playing live music with traditional Javanese instruments. It is quite a welcoming nice charm. There is dedicated taxi stand outside the domestic arrival hall. Get a voucher and walk to the taxi pier. It is quite organized.

Very small nice airport. There is no shops at all no airco check in was OK no queues at immigration. The only downside is to get to town was quite difficult as when I was there there was no any taxi's or buses so had to wait for almost 1 hour!!! Staff was friendly but facilities poor.
