"one of the worst airports I've been to"

Not Verified | Marrakesh airport is without a doubt one of the worst airports I've been to. The staff are extremely rude, totally incompetent, do not provide information when necessary, have no skills whatsoever to speak to the general public, and treat tourists like animals. What is happening at Marrakesh airport is a shame. After this experience, I will never return to the country again.

“avoid at all costs”

Not Verified | Awful, worst airport I have ever been to, avoid at all costs. Took twenty minutes to queue to get into the airport, then another hour to queue for check in then twenty minutes for security then an hour for passport control, all before changing our gate twice. So unorganised it’s unbelievable. We arrived at half seven for a half ten flight and barely made it in time just because the flight was delayed. Has put me off entirely going back to Morocco.

"empty of toilet paper"

Not Verified | The toilets at this airport were empty of toilet paper, I went to several to check that this was not a coincidence, absolutely all of them lacked toilet paper including the women's toilets, my wife was in these and turned to several by the cleaning staff there to get toilet paper without success, and what we were told was that this has been going on for a long time now, that they simply don't refill anymore if they don't have it. I don't quite understand the thinking behind this, what an idiotic way to run a popular and large airport! Toilettene på hele denne flyplassen i perioden 21.05.24 til 28.05.25 var tomme for toilettpapir, jeg var på flere for å sjekke at dette ikke var en tilfeldighet , absolutt alle manglet toilettpair inkludert dametoilettene , min kone var på disse og hendvendte seg til flere av renholdspersonalet der for å få toilettpapir uten hell, og det vi ble fotalt var at dette har pågått lenge nå , at de rett og slett ikke fyller på lenger side de ikke har det. skjønner ikke helt tankegangen bak dette , for en idiotisk måte å drive en populær og stor flyplass på !

“worst airport experience in 50 years”

Trip Verified | The worst airport experience in 50 years. Two hours in Royal Air Maroc check in handling only two aircraft domestically. The international check ins were worse. Over three hours to get to departure gate after numerous queues and immigration. No urgency, third world and unacceptable. So called tourism economy.

"most inefficient, ludicrous systems"

Trip Verified | The most inefficient, ludicrous systems hamper the experience massively in this otherwise quite large and modern looking airport. Prepare for a trip to the past (pre computers) with long queues, no staff members, and an endless supply of lines without order, reason or rationale. I will never return to this airport if I can help it. In fact, I will actively avoid anything to do with it for the rest of my life, and will tell anyone else to do the same. Do not waste your life by flying through here.

"inefficient and time wasting"

Not Verified | Incredibly inefficient and time wasting before you could even enter departures. We had to wait in a queue of 1 + hours waiting with people who were checking in luggage as "all boarding passes had to be validated" this is despite checking in online and printing off boarding passes. This took an hour, we then had to go through security, then passport control. All of which totalled 2 hrs. I have never known an airport that needs all passengers to have their boarding passes verified by their airline. This meant long queues with no prior warning .

"a small, but modern airport"

Trip Verified | We recently used Marrakech and found it fine. It is a small, but modern airport. The air conditioning was fine, and the general facilitates were as you would expect. On arrival we went through passport control, they appear to have several different areas for this, and each flight seemed to be being funneled towards different areas. Waiting time was around 30 minutes for us on UK passports which is OK. The immigration officers were perfectly pleasant. Bags arrived within another 15-20 minutes, and our passports were checked again after that. On exiting the terminal our bags were put through a screening machine. This whole process took about 1 hour. When you leave the terminal to get a taxi, you go to a small booth, tell them where you want to go and you pay there - they then give you a numbered ticket/receipt - the number corresponding to a taxi which is waiting. You do not pay the driver. Returning is a different matter though, as you do obviously have to get a taxi yourself, and it seems normal practice to negotiate a price. Take care here, as our driver quoted 200 dihrams for the journey, then at the airport decided it was 200 each. He was obviously chancing it, and he did not push it when we said no. The price out incidentally, which was paid at the ticket office was 150 dirhams. Departing the check-in seems to open 3-hours before the flight. There were a lot of checks, so it is probably worth arriving early. Bags are scanned again on entry to the terminal, then you check in, then the boarding pass is checked, you go through security, then passport control and after that your boarding pass is checked again. For our UK bound-flight this was repeated at the gate. It was not a busy time, but we found the experience fine. The airport is nice, the staff perfectly pleasant. There were a lot of checks, but that is modern travel. Just allow plenty of time.

Not Verified | It is the worst airport we have ever been. Boarding process is made so difficult for travellers, wasting so much of people's time. The airport needs implementing smart checking and boarding procedures. The airport staff are ruthless, clueless and helpless. The facilities in the airport are basic and needs improvement. The passengers are left standing in queues on the runway in cold weather at night times. Overall, it is a third class airport.

"no visible mobility assistance"

Not Verified | Pre booked mobility assistance through Ryanair for our 20.15 return flight on 16.09.2023 to Stansted Airport. On arrival at 18.15 pm there were no visible MOBILITY ASSISTANCE points at the entrance to the airport. Usually on arrival at other airports we have travelled through we press the intercom on arrival and a member staff meets us with a wheelchair, we get checked in, brought through security then put on ambulift onto the plane. There were no visible mobility assistance signs anywhere in the departure entrance area. He had to struggle on his crutches to the check in desk, I informed the Ryanair employee that assistance had been requested, no wheelchair was offered at this time and she pointed to the area where he should wait for a member of staff to collect him and take him through passport control. After me having to constantly go up to the Ryanair check-in desk, eventually after waiting 1 & 1/4 hrs a wheelchair arrived and we were taken through passport control. We were then taken to an empty area of the airport by B3 check-in desk, even though the gate for our departure was on the first floor, gate A3. the departure board then showed that our plane was embarking, with 15 minutes to go before departure. At this point our daughter and her partner came downstairs, and started to push the wheelchair towards the lift as we were frightened that we would miss our flight. Only at this point did a member of staff approach and said that he would get someone to take us out to the plane then arrange for the ambulift to brought across to enable my husband access onto the plane. Our holiday in Marrakesh was lovely, but based on the airport experience it has put us off using this airport again.

"toilets were not particularly clean"

Trip Verified | On arrival, the queue for passport control was long and unpleasantly hot. On departure, the queues were not so bad but again the airport was ridiculously hot. The temperatures outside were over 45 degrees and it didn’t feel much cooler inside. The air conditioning is nowhere near up to the standard it should be for the climate. We were delayed and it was unpleasant waiting around, everybody had handheld fans and this was the only thing making it tolerable. The free WiFi is incredibly poor and none of us could get it to work consistently. The selection of food outlets is also very limited & the sandwich we bought was so dry, it was inedible. To top it off, we then found out we couldn’t spend our leftover dirhams in the duty free shop on the vast majority of items so ended up having to buy lots of food we didn’t need from the cafes to bring home as we couldn’t bring the currency with us. The toilets were not particularly clean and many didn’t have any toilet roll either.
