"Very bad experience"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | Very bad experience. I thought Islamabad had a bad service but this one is the worst. I reached 3.5 hour before my flight time, at the check in counter very rude attendees, I had a connecting flight Karachi - Doha, Doha to Italy they didn't want to issue my 2nd boarding pass. I fought but with no results, I had to board my plane at 4.00 and we managed just few minutes before the closing of the doors. Bad service, bad infrastructure, bad organization, worst management.

"Worst kind of staff"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | Absolutely worst airport ever. No order, no rules. Everyone doing whatever they please. People who have any kind of influence skipping immigration queue. No organisation on baggage reclaim. Worst kind of staff. Completely clueless and incompetent overstaffing. Makes me avoid going to Karachi overall just because of the trauma of this airport. Its sad how we cannot even manage an airport properly, how do we hope to manage the whole country? A city of almost 30 million people and has an airport this pathetic without any wifi.

"This airport needs an overhaul"

(Pakistan)

Not Verified | This airport needs an overhaul. It’s an old airport. The arrival and departure from this airport makes you feel as if you just got out of the year 1989 and landed in some other county where it’s 2021. The state of the airport is in pathetic condition. Too many staff who look busy but are doing nothing. Long queue and only 3 staff on arrival desk, and they are the slowest people you can ever imagine. The rest of the staff are there but I guess they were not in a mood to work. All they did was walk around behind the desk staring at women. They give you the feeling of uneducated uncouth people. You enter the luggage arrival area and 10 porters are already there on top of your head forcing you to hire them because they don’t leave you until you tell them in a loud voice that you don’t require their help. Then there are people standing to collect your baggage tags then you pass through screening machines. If they want to check your bag for anything the scrutiny begins and after that you are left alone to pack your stuff back in your bags. If I was a (white man) oh boy things would have been so very different. All the staff would be saying “yes sir” I could break the queue and jump in line, I could pretend I did not fill out any form and I’d be told “it’s ok sir”. Someone would insist on picking my bag for free. A big upgrading of staff is required. Arrival area is too small and luggage trolleys, please change them.

"travellers worst nightmare"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | Karachi airport is a travellers worst nightmare. During the 4 international flights I have taken in the past 3 months I have experienced painfully endless queues, unnecessarily cross checks and confusion amongst the staff. Which has resulted in all my flights departing late. I would attribute the gross inefficiencies to mismanagement by the administration more than any other factor. At the entrance to the international departure there is only one person to check passports for a queue of hundreds of passengers. That is the first bottle neck. As one progresses to the immigration counter to exit the country it takes 45 plus minutes due to understaffed counters and unorganised queuing system. Additionally there are too many supervisors just keep a watch versus multi tasking to process passengers and debating on line management decisions. Without a care for children, older passengers or the less abled. It is laughable that it is quicker to get into the country than leave the country in an era where digital gates are common across airports and workforces are trained to multi-task. What is more perturbing is the obsession with “re-checks” One can expect another 25 plus minutes in the re- checking FIA queue after immigration which again creates yet another bottleneck. The excessive rechecks continue like at a prison facility. In the flight boarding line one person from FIA yet again checks your travel documents. The airline staff checks your boarding pass and as you are about enter the aircraft some ten steps later the same checks are repeated again by another security staff followed by an airline staff. It makes one wonder if the rechecks are required because of a lack of trust in the capabilities of the staff, to keep a big workforce on the payroll or lack of integration between different teams and processes. After two and a half hours later you will find your self physically exhausted and waiting for your delayed flight to take off. I would advise you to please avoid the Karachi Airport if you have any other option.

"airport's quality has been deteriorating"

(Pakistan)

Trip Verified | As a frequent traveller, I notice how this airport's quality has been deteriorating with every visit. Built in the early 90s, the passenger terminal not only looks outdated aesthetically, the processes are as slow and inconvenient as those of smaller, poorly resourced airports from the 90s. The passport control counters are operated by super slow individuals who often aren't updated on visa rules and give you a difficult time. Their computers are often broken too. Baggage is handled without any regard and often arrives stained, wet or damaged. Fragile stickers are useless. It also doesn't look like the airport is cleaned thoroughly. The old and stained flooring needs to be replaced.

"needs a lot of changes"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | I have visited this airport after several years and this time, i found it much more crowded and dirty. The floors were giving a messy look. The air conditioning was not working properly so it was very hot inside. The airport offers very limited shopping (a small duty free shop and very limited food shops who offers very expensive things). The immigration staff was not bad but the lineup for both the Pakistani passport as well as foreign passports were too long and they were not in a hurry to reduce the line quickly. The building needs a lot of changes and renovations as Karachi is one of the biggest cities in the world but the airport gives a 50 year old look.

"age is definitely showing"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Even though still functional Jinnah International Airport’s age is definitely showing. No free WiFi, the major shopping areas are before the second security check, and the rush at the front of the airport before the first security check shows that space at the entry of the airport is inadequate and could be a major problem if air traffic significantly increases. The only plus is that I was able to clear immigration and get my luggage in about 25 minutes. The CAA should start to think about long term solutions for Jinnah International Airport.

"nice but badly needs renovation"

(United States)

Not Verified | Karachi Airport is nice but badly needs renovation as it is some 20 years old airport. Also, they need to work on the satellite concourse as they look outdated from inside and too compact with no space for expansion for retail and neither the gates. Disembarkation bridge is nice and modern.

"is in dire need of a renovation"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Jinnah International Airport is now 25 years old and is in dire need of a renovation. The drab brown and sand color is truly depressing, the departure desk for immigration is now too small and undermanned, the second security check should be moved before the shopping area, and worst of all the free wifi which was a god send two years ago has now vanished. The only thing renovated has been the air bridges which are now all glass and look quite nice. One could only wish the rest of the airport could get a make over like that.
