Hamad Doha Airport

Arrived not really knowing about the new airport in Doha. Previous transit with business has been seamless but a terrible experience this time. Same buses meeting flights that I can deal with but the terminal was pandemonium to get through screening. No support for business and pushing and shoving to get through security. No signage to lounge and difficult to find and signage to gates incorrect - if leaving the lounge and require D concourse turn left not right as signs say. D24 is a long walk. Have return visit and if no improvement would have to rethink travel with Qatar Airways which is a shame, as it remains a great airline.

When I first arrived at Hamad airport, I was amazed with the amazing modern design that grabs your attention from the moment you arrive until your departure. The staff and immigration were very friendly, and most of the time the airport is empty since it's over sized compared to the passengers who go through it.

Disappointing to have off stand parking at a new airport. Steps very slow to aircraft on arrival, then crowds and confusion in transfer area. Not enough staff, no special support to Business pax, no signage to lounge. So we did not get to see the new lounge, as we had to set off on a marathon march to gate D24, to then get a bus to aircraft. When we got to D24 we were shouted at for being late (more than 30 mins before STD), but no-one had told us how far we had to walk, or anything. I hope this was just a glitch and my return journey will be better - this is not how QR will grow its transfer business.

As soon as we arrived in Doha, we found out we had missed our connecting flight. It would be 24 hrs before we could take the next flight to Mumbai. This airport is extremely clean and well designed. Yes it’s huge. Plenty of duty free shopping, and good restaurants. However, we had to go through immigration in order to leave for the hotel, which was not a fun process with five children. We were in the queue for at least 1.5 hours. But, the next morning the queues were much, much shorter. A complaint would be our aircraft not going to a jet-bridge, but a long bus ride to the terminal. Out of all the staff I’ve come in contact with, only one was even remotely rude. There are many great places for kids, especially a huge play area near Gate C. A well designed airport which has a few small kinks that need to be worked out.

Flew with Qatar Airways on my way to Europe and transitted in this huge, clean airport. The toilet was probably the cleanest I have experienced, the same as Singapore Changi and Zurich. The must visit area was the bear with lamp - dont know what the "art" of it is but still, it's nice. The duty free was luxurious yet expensive. The food is three times the price of Jakarta. I enjoyed the computers and TV room, as well as good WiFi.

I had a layover at Hamad Doha Airport while flying from Singapore to Munich as well as Berlin to Singapore. Airport is very clean, staff are very helpful and friendly, and customs was cleared very quickly. Hamad Doha Airport also has a good view of the tarmac near its food court. I will definitely recommend this airport to friends and family.

Whilst the new airport looks modern, it is very dark and dour in appearance. Not at all friendly or welcoming. The worst problem - immigration. Had to wait over 2 hours queuing for immigration, only 2 counters manned, almost all were unmanned. Shame because the old Doha airport was excellent.

Doha is the latest and most comfortable airport in the world to transit. They have now introduced security checks for arrivals but this was quick and efficient with well-trained staff. The new overhead monorail is not yet working, but even without it, the transfer only involves a short walk between sections of the main terminal. This has every possible top designer shop in the world represented. Their Duty-Free liquor store has a mouth-watering wall of malt whiskies on display. This is probably the biggest selection of malts to be found in any airport in the world. What a pleasure it is to use this airport compared with Dubai where it now takes a minimum of one hour to transfer from one flight to another. Most times the flight arrives at the wrong terminal and passengers have to follow the signs for the train to the next terminal. The rail system was designed by an 'expert' with no knowledge of airports. Arriving and departing passengers have to use the same side of the train! Let's hope that Doha's International Airport does not outgrow its capacity as its such a pleasure to use. The same cannot be said for their airline where the in-flight food and drink are rubbish.

A beautiful airport. Very pleasing to the eye, immaculate facilities and good air conditioning. But poor signage lets this airport down although there are lots of customer service assistants on duty to assist. It can be difficult to locate shops for basic items such as water and snacks. Duty Free available in many locations. Free wi-fi and comfortable lounge seats for a quick rest. Be prepared for slow immigration officials as well, who often do not fully understand their roles and have to defer even basic requests to colleagues. Transfer security as well is also time consuming and often very slow. Taxiing times are quite good, so once the aircraft leaves the gate, a quick departure is made.

Very nice airport but perhaps only when you are flying business class going by some of the other reviews so my review is based on being a business class passenger. The airport is huge, depending on where you leave your flight you could have quite a long walk to the main area containing the duty free shops and lounges. I rarely bother with duty free but there seems to be a good varied choice on offer. I'm very happy that they seem to have done away with the bus transfer from the plane to the terminal. The airport seems to have been designed with the new generation of large aircraft's in mind such as the Airbus A380 as some departure gates have a separate check-in from business class with access to an upstairs lounge are allowing your to board directly into the business cabin on the upper deck. All in all I think this is an excellent airport now that they've gotten over the teething problems, superb business class lounge and really fine friendly staff, I don't thing I've been to any other airport that has some many staff who's only functions seems to be to help passengers.
