Cochin Airport

Not Verified | This airport and also some other Airports in India have draconian rules for entry to the airport by not letting before 6 hours. Exceptions are Bombay and Delhi with more than 10 hours. Imagine you are travelling by domestic flights 1 or 2, and need to catch an international flight at Cochin, but you are not allowed before 6hrs. There's no seating arrangements outside rather you are at the mercy of mosquitoes and drenching sweat. They claim to be one of the best international airport but these airports are not managed by keeping in mind about people/travellers rather they want to enforce their colonial inherited rules. I arrived exactly 6 hours before my flight but I was stopped at the gate saying their system has not updated the entry for my flight. He said I have to wait for 10 to 20 minutes outside. When I asked he said to go and talk to the airport manager somewhere in a remote corner of airport. I stood there waiting, then finally he called me and advised that I should have patience and keep shut. Gees this is how their airports are working. Is it appropriate to say shame!

Not Verified | Cochin International Airport is a beautiful, environment friendly and comfortable airport. From the infrastructure to the furniture, the process, the staff, everything about this airport exudes comfort and positive vibes. The airport is powered by solar panels, wooden interiors and well functioning toilet fittings and fixtures make this airport an environment friendly one.

Not Verified | Rude immigration staff. Today i was really irritated with the unprofessional and rude behaviour of the immigration staff. He wanted me to provide a copy of the ID proof of the country which I reside in. I had provided the soft copy ( issued by the govt) which is accepted in all airports. Not all staff are rude but there are some characters like this who spoil an otherwise good airport.

Not Verified | This is the worst airport in India. I have been to so many airports but never have I been asked to wait outside. I then decided to go to Marriott for dinner, they clearly mentioned come by 11.45 and we shall allow you inside. When I came back it was 11.45 sharp. Then they changed the rules as per their convenience. If I was 6 hours early for check in due to circumstances I had to come early and they asked me at night to wait outside. After coming inside my airline which was supposed to leave at 6.45, didn’t even start check-in which should be done at least 3 hours prior to departure. I couldn’t even go to the lounge. A lady was peacefully sleeping at the counter. The entire staff were rude as if we were asking them their kidneys. I have never in my life had a terrible experience as such. I’m never going to visit this airport ever again. Better to take a train or a bus where you can sleep instead.

✅ Trip Verified | Almost all the socket outlets in the food court are not working. Passengers use these points to charge mobiles and this does not serve the purpose. Why do you have them there? To show that you provide service?

✅ Trip Verified | Arrival no problem, departure is a totally different matter, the people at customs need to be taught some manners and respect, so rude and obnoxious. Never experienced such people in all of my travels, we will never be going to that airport again. Upset both me and my wife. What an end to what was a great holiday. They don't believe a word of what you say, throw your bags at you and make you feel like a criminal, even though there was nothing wrong. Horrible experience.

Not Verified | Lovely airport, arrivals was a breeze so was departures, my only gripe would be the loud intercom, it’s way too high and becomes more of an annoyance rather than help. Also the WIFI - won’t get an OTP without an active number and receiving OTP is not practical with most international numbers, make your WiFi free just like DXB airport without the number registration process. It was a hassle when my number didn’t work and had to use my roaming data.

✅ Trip Verified | Very disappointed to see that you are busy aping the western culture and forget our own roots. As an Indian I am very proud of my heritage and all my traditional food. However Cochin airport is a far cry from that. You will happily serve cappuccino coffee to please a foreigner while completely omitting to serve a traditional Indian masala tea or a nice bru coffee. It is very sad what Cochin airport has come to.

Not Verified | The officer at the security was extremely rude and most certainly needs to learn how to interact with travelers. I am a professional and carry a lot of charging cables for various devices - phones, headphones, laptops, etc. They had asked me to take out all electronic devices including cables which is understandable (guess the scanning machines in CIAL are outdated and needs an upgrade). I accidentally missed a couple of cables and a thermometer - I am also a human and can sometimes miss things. The lady officer was so rude and shouting at us (wife, kid and me). The situation would have been very different if she told us in a normal tone. Even my 4 year old was taken aback and was asking me what we did so wrong that she was shouting at me. I totally agree that it was my fault but there is a way to handle such things.

Not Verified | Arrival is very convenient for International pax. Departure is a mess. I used this airport in August for AUH flight. At the entrance there is a crowd. Passengers and their non pax relatives are standing in the line. Inside there is a Rapid covid test facility. A money eating one. Same test we do outside for INR 500. In the airport it is INR 2450/. Boarding desks are very slow. Immigration desks are comparatively fast. Security check is a big mess also. Arrogant CISF officers not friendly with pax. Shouting like a fish market. We have to remove all electronic items even chargers and headphones also from our bag. CIAL should replace the scanner with latest technology which could ease passenger movement and security check with lesser time.
