"insufficient immigration counters"
K Tsang (Malaysia)
✅ Verified Review | Insufficient immigration counters at KLIA Kuala Lumpur for transit passengers between domestic and international flights. On departure, over 100 pax queueing for 4 counters. No self-service passport scanners for Malaysian passports. Immigration officer unhappy when passengers are asking to be processed faster. Connecting flights are issued by system, even 2hr gap, you may miss your flight. On arrival, the counters open at 6am for passengers. Good luck if you came in at 4am. Departure gate information is sorely lacking. You cannot easily look up where is your departure gate. If there are changes, you could be screwed. Just a few display screens at central area. Seats for resting not enough. Think of passengers who have long wait for connecting flights or just waiting to enter gate. If this is some village airport, that is fine. Yes, the airport could be worse, but it sure could be a lot better.

"best transportation services"
4 reviews K Aziz (United Kingdom)
✅ Verified Review | I flew into Kuala Lumpur with my family from Kathmandu. This is my second time here and I love this airport as it has everything from shopping, food, transportation etc. They have one of the best transportation services after clearing immigration. The only downside of this beautiful airport is their rather rude immigration officers.

"great place to transit and shop"
2 reviews Arj Nathan (Australia)
KLIA Kuala Lumpur airport is organized, the notice boards are clear with detailed instruction, the place was clean and the washrooms were ok compared to other Asian airports. I was there on a 5 hr transit so had a great opportunity to explore this place. Only downside as far as the shops are concerned is that the duty-free shops open at 6am in the morning, there was just one place to get food and coffee. All the rest of the places just told me they are closed. People were not very friendly and poor English, still love the place due to the shopping experience (I rank KLIA over Changi airport for this). I was only able to find one place to get a massage and even that is not full body massage it's just feet and shoulder etc (would be good to have a couple of 24hr spas as this is a main transit hub). Overall a great place to transit and shop.

"there is definitely not enough comfortable seating"
P Edmonson (Australia)
✅ Verified Review | Whereas Changi Airport really tries to cater for everyone's needs, this cannot be said for KL. There are the usual shops and eateries but the one area for smokers whilst reasonably well ventilated compared to some airports, it now has no seating and trolleys are not allowed which presents problems. What do you do with your luggage? The toilets we visited were not clean and when we advised the information desk, it seemed that it was of little interest. Also there are not enough escalators or lifts to the upper floor and there is definitely not enough comfortable seating.

"immigration efficient as usual"
O Edmondson (Malaysia)
✅ Verified Review | Use the KL International Airport recently and found it to be quite good. Check in area was airy and comfortable, and so was the airside. Nothing much in the Main Terminal, but quite a bit of a selection in the Satellite Terminal which is a train ride away from the main terminal. Immigration efficient as usual. Cleanliness is seen be improving gradually. Cheers and keep up the good work KLIA.

"badly managed, even more badly designed"
R Gonzaga (Malaysia)
✅ Verified Review | KLIA2, or the low cost hub as it is known. On departure, the airport is pretty much alright apart from the long walks to the aircraft. There are reasonable choices of restaurants and shops to spend your time prior to boarding. Arrival however is a completely different matter. The design of the airport confuses me. The corridors are narrow and long and the immigration is a fiasco. Then there is baggage claim where the stick arrival duty free shops that you are obliged to pass through in narrow walkways bumping into people shopping. The baggage carousels are okay but then exit from the arrival area is another fiasco. When more than one flight arrives, there is a massive bottleneck of people and baggage trolleys fighting to exit. Badly managed, even more badly designed without taking passengers comfort into consideration. I would avoid KLIA 2 at all costs.

"operations management is a shambles"
Alun Pugh (United Kingdom)
A newish terminal built at huge cost. Operations management at Kuala Lumpur airport is however a shambles. Slow handling of queues, dirty toilets and a general air of lethargy hangs over the place. You can easily see why SIN, HKG and BKK are the key hubs. Avoid if possible. Unless you want to pay £6 for a small beer of course.

"abysmal toilets and service"
K Chelvanathan (Malaysia)
Despite the many complaints, the Main Terminal at KLIA Kuala Lumpur seems to have lost the plot of a world class airport. The toilets are filthy and there is no point in paying airport taxes to travel via this terminal. Cleaners wear random t-shirts and they are seen using their mobile phones and cannot communicate in either Malay or English. Such a disappointment. Hopefully the airport authorities take note of their abysmal toilets and service.

"getting worse every year"
9 reviews W Samuels (Indonesia)
✅ Verified Review | I have used KLIA Kuala Lumpur a few times in recent years I feel it is getting worse every year. Arrival terminal before immigration was acceptable. However, after immigration, it was terrible. Very few shops and food outlets available. Immigration was fast and efficient. Toilets are very dirty. It is an irony that KLIA that is used for full service airlines is worse than KLIA2 that is used by LCCs,

"a very poor airport"
Wyn Griffiths (United Kingdom)
KLIA Kuala Lumpur is a very poor airport for Asia. Dirty toilets - liquid all over the floors and seats. Malaysian Airlines "Golden Lounge" has very pleasant staff but poor selection of food and drinks generally. This surprises me a lot given that this is supposedly Malaysia's show case airport but it fails to impress when you compare with Hong Kong, Singapore or even Bangkok. Surprisingly disappointed for what should be a showcase for Malaysia.
