"inadequate, poor hospitality"
Diana Amiruddin (Malaysia)
Flew into KLIA Kuala Lumpur from Perth today and since I have the next connecting domestic flight in 6 hours I decided to stay in the airport. I had to come out of the airport to send a parcel to a colleague and went back in but was denied entry to the departure area since my flight is early morning the next day. I'm disappointed that the lounges are closed after 11pm and there were not many seats around as they're filled with travellers like me. I found myself a quiet spot in the prayer room and later was asked to leave. I see some with no seats sitting down on the floor! I am embarrassed and disappointed by this inadequate, poor hospitality. I will still use this airport but that is only because my option is limited

"arrival and departure smooth"
Chohong Choi (Hong Kong)
✅ Verified Review | This was the third time I used KLIA Kuala Lumpur. Arrival (at midnight) was smooth with a reasonable 15-minute wait to go through immigration. There were still a few shops / restaurants open at that time and one telecom shop employee was nice enough to show me the digits I should dial to reach a local friend who gave me his number. Departure (in the late afternoon) was equally smooth. I like the fact that KLIA, like Changi, has employed a dual-layered security measure with a "casual" x-ray/metal detector scan at the first checkpoint followed by a more thorough scan at each gate. This system ensures the faster flow of passengers and the extra resources required for it are worth it. (In contrast, most U.S. airports have one security checkpoint that is slow and creates a backlog of restless passengers waiting to go through.)

"terminal is extremely frustrating to get around"
10 reviews Dexter Lee (Singapore)
✅ Verified Review | I doubt that user-friendliness was a key factor for planners who designed and built KLIA2 (the terminal that is mainly used by AirAsia). First and foremost, the terminal is extremely frustrating to get around due to its size. There aren't any travelators in the international departure section of the L Wing, but surprisingly these are installed for the convenience of arriving passengers in the same wing. Secondly, there is a complete lack of information boards in the terminal after immigration, which may confuse passengers who don't know how to find information on their flight. Passport control for arriving passengers is a nightmare with queues up to 45 minutes to an hour. Thirdly, the interior design of the terminal also looks and feels cheap, and there are not that many places to sit outside of the gate areas. If you want to catch up on any last minute shopping after passport control this airport terminal is clearly not the place to do that. The first terminal at KLIA is still a much better experience for passengers, and of course even other airports such as Singapore Changi, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta are easily a few times better than this lightweight challenger.

"direction can be slightly confusing"
7 reviews Nuti Damrongphatr (Thailand)
✅ Verified Review | From a transiting passenger view, this airport is fine. It is clean, lots of shops and restaurant to kill the time. Free Wifi available in some area. Direction can be slightly confusing and there is a security check again at each gate, so allow ample time before your departure.

"avoid at all costs"
D Encel (Australia)
Kuala Lumpur airport is so bad I will avoid at all costs in future. Filthy facilities. The bathrooms are just disgusting. The transit from International to domestic is time consuming and involves a train ride and a long walk. The food offering is sub par and not up to standard. The layout is illogical. Worst of all the security is a joke. They just go through the motions.

KLIA Kuala Lumpur Airport customer review
8 reviews Rendi Oktavianto (Indonesia)
✅ Verified Review | First time using Kuala Lumpur airport. Looks old but quite clean. Check-in dissapointing, very long queue (almost 1 hour) - better get to the airport earlier so you wont miss your flight. Standard facilities such as duty free, fast wifi and toilets quite clean. Boarding gate very small with minimum information.

"going from bad to worse"
Keng Yew Lee (Malaysia)
Kuala Lumpur airport is going from bad to worse. I can't help think that is an "International Airport" but the facilities, the cleanliness and the staff are just going back in reverse. It is poorly maintain, unfriendly staff, facilities are broken, toilets smell and people are smoking inside. KLIA used to be world class airport, please don't just take our tax money and spend it to another airport. We just need one airport anyway, a good one.

"I would use this airport again"
1 reviews Rasyid Sukarni (Singapore)
✅ Verified Review | On the landside there is a huge abundance of food and shopping services available for us to choose from. The airport counter management and spacing of counters might not been planned out thoroughly for check-ins. Compare to its regional competitors, Changi is much more welcoming and engaging. Overall I would use this airport again.

"two hour long queue"
F Martin (Australia)
✅ Verified Review | Two hour long queue at immigration is insane. Landed at 5.30pm, entered the line at 6pm. Cleared the line at 8pm. No idea where my luggage was, because that information had been cleared from the board hours ago. Walked from empty carousel to empty carousel where luggage was piled up at the far end of each.

"too few restaurants at departure"
1 reviews H Chan (Malaysia)
✅ Verified Review | Most of the facilities at the Kuala Lumpur airport are very good. From the check in counters to the toilets to the baggage collection area. The queuing time is relatively short too. But the problem is there is too few restaurants are the departure level. The waiting area in front of the gate is also very bad, only providing 1 disabled toilet. The air conditioning is not cold enough.
