"staff are not helpful and focused"

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | KLIA2 and KLIA1 ground staff are not helpful and focused on their job. My experience with the staff are that they are more interested in their own private and personal self using their mobile phones whilst on duty. Poor communication and direction skills to direct visitors to the correct gate and also at the immigration gate, the staff member on duty was playing games on his mobile phone. KLIA2 and KLIA1 please take note and ban staff from focusing on their own interests using mobile phones while on duty. It is a disgrace to allow staff using company time to use their mobiles playing games!

"it is certainly showing its age"

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | We arrived early in the morning and the airport was preparing for another day. The shops were just opening. We sailed past immigration check and waited at the luggage carousel. After about 30 mins, some luggage came through and this was picked up by the flight crew. The passengers had to wait for an additional 40 to 60 minutes before the remaining luggage arrived. In a normal business, the customers or the passengers have priority over the staff. Certainly, it was not in this case. This led to passengers, raising their eyebrows. The main point of this being, a 60 to 90 min wait for luggage at an airport handling a large state of the art plane like the super jumbo A380 is certainly not acceptable. After collection of the luggage, we walked past the Customs and then to Kuala Lumpur. KLIA was built in the late 1990s. It is about 20 years old and it is certainly showing its age. The luggage trolleys looked shabby and ours did not work properly. We could see the wear and tear at various points in the building. It certainly has not been properly maintained to international standard.

"It was hassle free"

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | This is part of the main terminal of KLIA. We were checked in at Sentral in Kuala Lumpur city centre. It was hassle free. After that, we board the KLIA Ekspres train to KLIA airport. This process is highly recommended for the ease of use. We bypass the long queues at the check-in desks at the airport. Going through security was easy. The staff did not appear very focussed on their jobs and water was allowed through. Boarding for the flight was straightforward.

"lack basic communication skills and manners"

(New Zealand)

Not Verified | Clueless staff, most lack basic communication skills and manners, to top it off they are arrogant. No proper signage regarding where the trains go etc. Tips - Have someone clean your disgustingly dirty bathrooms regularly and keep them dry, I had to wade through little puddles to use the toilet. Please choose staff who are friendly and can at least communicate in English. Have a friendly attendant on your trains who can assist passengers. Please have someone go to other airports around the world to see how they do things so you can improve your signage for directions. Smile at your customers, its the reason you have a job. Hope its better next time I come around and be less arrogant as there is nothing to be arrogant about as your airport and staff are terrible other than the one guy in the helpdesk.

"Unprofessional and rude security staff"

(India)

Not Verified | Unprofessional and rude security staff. The security personnel at the final security gates before departure were unprofessional and rude when I boarded an international flight from KLIA. We were carrying water bottles which were purchased from KLIA airport (which we even took last time when we boarded our flight from the same airport at the time of transit only). He just took the bottles out of the bag and threw it with anger. When I asked him about the bottles, he was very rude. The staff cannot be rude with the passengers even though there was no information before the security check point about not carrying the liquids.

"you deal with little to no signage"

(Canada)

Not Verified | They've done everything they can to make your red eye layover a experience terrible, down to the smallest details: First you arrive and have to walk what feels like 2 km, which in the middle of the night is incredibly annoying. Then you deal with little to no signage, and what signage there is in incredibly vague and confusing, and explains nothing, so you wait in a lineup for 20 minutes to be told you were supposed to just go upstairs to the third floor. Not one person on our flight went the right way, everyone scattered and were all eventually sent to the right place. Next, and possibly the rudest thing, they've installed only bucket seats, by the thousand, so no one can lay down, yet 70% of them are empty. Some people argue this is so that people don't take up too many seats and not leave enough for others. This is proven wrong by every other airport I've ever been to, where it's never been an issue. Having forgotten that we the customer are what pays for their airport, their jobs, their planes, etc, they sure don't treat us right. They've got their speakers turned up screaming loud so even if you could somehow sleep in a sitting position (hello sore back/neck for the duration of your vacay!), you'd never sleep over their racquet. As I write this review I'm getting more and more frustrated about that, it's actually loud enough that it feels piercing in your ear and makes your cringe when it comes on. There is one area of about 20 feet by 20 feet where they've actually gone out of their way to install wall segments to make small cubby areas to lay down in. On the floor. On cement. That's right, they actually spent money to make specifically uncomfortable sleep areas on the floor, for their paying customers. In any area that's carpeted, they've made sure to install the brightest of lights directly overhead. Even though you just arrived on a plane and have never even had a chance to leave the secured area, you have to go through security when you arrive? So it's 3 in the morning, you have to take off your shoes, tear apart your carefully packed carry-on yet again to get your electronics out, and deal with the idiot at the security check not putting the plastic bins back so you're literally throwing loose stuff into the scanner. So maybe you're thinking, ok, they want to do their own security check, they don't trust Vietnam's, sure fair enough. But then, to get to your gate, you have to go through another security check? Honestly this would be an extremely hard way to travel for anyone over 50, it's extremely rude, and it's totally unacceptable to be charging people as much as they do for tickets when that's the service they are providing. In Canada we charge similar prices for similar distances, the flights are much less popular and well travelled, and we pay the staff far higher and have a much higher overhead for our airports than these guys do, yet we provide 10x better service and actually appear to care for our valued guests. So disappointed that the first day and a half or so of my trip is going to be utterly ruined by exhaustion when it could have been such an easy fix.

"used to be so bubbly"

(Malaysia)

Trip Verified | Travellers had no choice but to submit poor ratings as a whole to KLIA, there is KLIA and klia2, of which I think KLIA is a bit more useful than klia2. KLIA used to be so bubbly, exciting and vibrant! It no longer has the feeling now, felt gloomy walking in and out of the building, something is wrong with MAB.

"now its deplorable"

(Malaysia)

Trip Verified | The announcements are so annoying with Happy Journey blaring after every single announcement, a matter of a few minutes. It is insincere and annoying. The train connecting the satellite terminal is in a desperate state, the terminal is really warm and lacking air-conditioning. This used to be one of the best in Asia, but now its deplorable.

"most disorganised airport"

(Singapore)

Not Verified | Big airport but that's about it. Probably the most disorganised airport I have ever been to. I took AirAsia flight out of KL, checking in is the most confusing. The departure screen only shows boarding gate, no check in counter. The airport staff were utterly clueless when ask which counter I was supposed to check in. Then the speaker system for flight announcement was incomprehensible. They put two flights in one gate making the passengers confused. The AirAsia ground staff are so unprofessional they didn't even announced the flight was delayed. Never again with this airport.

"They ignored everything I said"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | The security personnel at the gate were unprofessional and rude when I boarded an international flight from KLIA. After removing my laptop from my bag as requested, the person behind the screen rummaged through my bag without asking permission. She removed every item from my bag, claiming that I was carrying 'sprays' that needed checking, and scolded me when I told her that I was not carrying any aerosols. Her colleague also yelled at me when I failed to stop for a body-check, even though I had just been checked just before. They ignored everything I said to them and repetitively reminded me harshly that they were 'security'. In the end, they found nothing in my bag, but caused me great inconvenience and distress. I understand security is important in airports, but it really gives no reason for staff to think they can be rude, especially when they don't give adequate information or help to travelers to make their job easier.
