LHR-BKK-SYD and DPS-BKK-LHR Business class (Royal Silk). Our seating requests were honoured at check
in on all legs and bags were given priority at disembarkation. Agree with comments about the Thai
lounges at Bangkok. The lack of a flight information screen is ridiculous. The food selection in the
lounges was poor. We were on a 747-400 on the LHR-BKK legs and the angled lie flat seats very good.
The entertainment system was adequate but selection not as good as on Emirates and the screens
smaller. The amenities pack was reasonable. We were disappointed with the food on Thai when compared
to other airlines. Also, the crew seemed to be in a hurry to serve meals and then disappear until
breakfast, an hour or so before landing. The best leg was on the 777 from BKK to SYD again with
comfortable angled flat seats and the best food and entertainment. The worst leg was on the A330
from DPS to BKK. The seats were uncomfortable particularly the foot rests and the entertainment
selection very poor with only one movie, no AVOD, and a boring selection of TV programmes. We ate
better on Monarch last year than on this leg in Business. Overall, we were slightly disappointed
with Thai. While the seats were more comfortable than on Emirates (except on the A330), the food in
particular and the entertainment inferior.

BKK-DXB Business class. A disastrous stop in BKK where we could not obtain a visa on arrival for a
Moldovan citizen, contrary to information on the web. Star Alliance Turkish Airlines and Thai Air
staff were pretty good in reorganising an outward flight changing our existing booking on the 11th
to this flight to DXB via Chennai. The flight itself was smooth, comfortable but not fully flat
seats. Flight attendants were friendly and helpful. We usually request window seats but were advised
none were available at check in, this information was obviously passed to the FAs onboard who
reallocated us to window seats. Food was excellent. DXB passengers required to remain onboard at
Chennai (45mins). Cleaning staff a little over enthusiastic with the hoover nozzles around your feet
but apart from that a reasonably relaxed 45 mins on the ground. Business class only a 150GBP premium
over cattle class – no brainer. Recommended.

MAD-BKK in economy in a Boeing 747-400. 100% full flight. The economy seats are fine, lots of
legroom and good reclining, the only disadvantage is that there is no PTV available. The food was
very good and they provided drinks and snacks during all the flight. I had a better experience in
the outbound flight in economy than in the return flight in business, which is surprising.

KUL-BKK-HKG in business class. Both flights on Airbus A330s seats were comfortable and legroom was
fine. The food on both flights was acceptable and crews were attentive and gave a good level of
service. A couple of points worth noting, the business class lounge in KUL is not worth the effort.
It has comfortable seats but thats about it. The food and drink selection is poor and is just heaped
on two tables. The new airport in Bangkok is huge I had a 1 hour transit time there and had to get
from one end of the terminal to the other with what feels like miles of shops in between. Each pier
has one security check point to cover all the gates on that pier so this can be busy at times. I
just made it to my gate as boarding started, that said two good flights from Thai

With regards to Wayne Good's comments, I can't quite share his enthusiasm for Thai's inflight
service. Having completed the same flights recently in February, AKL- BKK-AKL on the A340-600 (pre
the intro of 777-200er). Whilst a tasty lunch was served promptly after take-off from AKL, there
was no mid-flight snack. Service incl drinks dried up pretty much after lunch until they began
dinner service 8.5 hours later. PTV was pretty average so imagine the 777-200ER to be vastly
superior. Look forward to trying this new aircraft in next month or so.

Auckland-Bangkok. New 777-200er. Economy Seats good and quite comfortable with good leg room. VOD
excellent with a good choice of movies. Food really good - some of the best I have had for a while
on a plane. Cabin staff worked constantly bringing rounds of drinks and there were snacks available
between meals in the back galley and a sandwich and drink served mid flight between meals.

I just finished a round-the-world journey and the best airline was Thai Airways. Their seats are
comfortable, service is hospitable, and their staff pleasant and professional. Their prices run a
little higher than average, but it is worth it to arrive at your destination revitalized rather than
completely frazzled from the experience.

3 April 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
I think the comments from M. Montgomery is fabricated. THAI usually starts with snacks and drinks.
Then full lunch and another dinner before landing at MUC. Depending on weather condition, the lunch
is usually served while flying over the Bengal bay. I have taken this flight so many times and I
really have doubts on what I read.

Travelled LHR to Bangkok return Economy Class. Legroom was sufficient. Disappointed that there was
no individual seat back entertainment. TV was difficult to see for some passengers as they were
limited. On return trip there were problems with the film on 2 occasions which were pointed out to
the crew who to their credit fixed the problem very quickly. I was also disappointed with the food
quality on the return trip and the attitude of the staff was quite sharp sometimes. The return
flight was also delayed over an hour with no apology or explanation until we had been in the air for
at least an hour. An announcement in the departure lounge would have been helpful.

SIN-BKK in Business class on A330-300. Thai uses on this route their regional class business class
product, which is a 2 hour flight. Space is a generous 50 inch they serve a good warm meal on this
short flight, only think to criticise is the lack of a decent video system. Otherwise flight was ok
with the respective staff being professional and efficient.

BKK-CAN Economy class. Standard of Thai Service is still one of the best in Asia, if you have a good
crew as I had once again! On this 2.5 hour flight they serve a pre-lunch Drink and 2 choices of hot
meals. Only different to other flights- no hot towels but "high quality" wet tissues. No movie was
shown. 3 Stars because of the the worn A300 which brought the flight experience down and the
boarding from a Bus into the "hot" Aircraft, which was just cool when we reached 10,000 feet.
Engineers had to fix sealing with tape, 36J backrest loose, Audio system stopped from time to time.
But the crew was helpful and friendly to find other seats.

BKK-MUC-FRA. The problems started at the airport check in desk, when they told me that the flight
was overbooked. They kept me waiting 20 minutes, saying that they might reroute me via London, or
put me on the evening flight. Eventually, a seat miraculously appeared. The last seat on a very
full flight. Made my way to the gate. Finally, arriving at the gate, noted that some passengers
had already boarded, while most others where waiting. Eventually boarded the flight. Flight was
pretty full. They did not serve lunch for about 2 hours into the flight, despite being a lunch time
flight, although a snack was served. No PTV in the seat, but reasonably good legroom. Showed 3
films on the flight. Arrived a Munich, made up some of the lost time on the flight.

MEL-BKK-HNX return Economy. I hadn’t flown Thai in many years, so it was a relief to find that they
offer decent leg room in long distance economy (less so on domestic flights). On the outward journey
from Melbourne to Bangkok, I wasn’t so happy about the way seats behind the bulkhead were used by
staff as a way of moving from one side of the plane to the other. This was later emulated by
passengers, who seemed to regard it as a right-of-way. One drunk in particular was quite aggressive
about trampling his way through, back and forth, all night. The woman sitting next to me had an
infant in her arms and there was a risk of someone lurching into them (as the drunk did into me).
While it would be easy to whine about bad passengers, or the inaction of the staff, it is a design
problem. The AV system worked fine. There were water runs (water, orange juice, cola) throughout the
night. Meals fine for economy - I had asked for a low fat/low calorie diet. I liked the way cabin
crew kept an eye on my seat, checking when I occupied it that I had actually ordered the low fat
meal. Similarly, on the return journey, I was impressed as I watched the check-in crew in Bangkok
sorting through seat allocation so that families were seated together, for instance. Every flight
was on time, more or less, and over four sectors, the crew smiles continued the entire journey,
there and back.

JFK-BKK-JFK in Premium economy class and really enjoyed it! The price is worth it. There is so
much space between rows that makes it comfortable. Food was good. After the first meal cognac is
served! No plastic dishes and a huge duvet is also offered for this long hau.

22 March 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
LHR-BKK-LHR Business Class. Painless check in then to SAS London Lounge. This lounge leaves me a bit
cold - virtually non-existent food selection and unimpressive wines. Apparently only one bottle of
champagne had been stocked for the whole of business class - rectified by asking for a glass from
1st class. Wines poor and average food selection/quality. Service OK but nothing special. Seats
comfortable and AVOD worked well but choices of entertainment although numerous aren't the best.
Thai lounge at Bangkok airport (Concourse C) nice to look at but not much there in terms of food or
reading materials and no wine or champagne. Boarding of return flight a shambles but better service
throughout the flight. Only just a 4 star airline I would say in terms of business class and only
then because of the lie flat seats which fairly comfortable. Cathay, Singapore and Malaysian are
ahead.

JFK-BKK return. A340 seats in economy have quite a bit of legroom. IFE - games, movies, TV (all on-
demand) definitely better than most airlines, and way better than my last international flight on
UA. Food tasty; 3 meals served on this flight (alcohol complementary); the two main meals had 3
choices (I'm used to only 2 choices on American carriers). 12 hours into the flight, woke up hungry
- delighted to find raisins, apples, oranges, mini sandwiches and cup o' noodles (and drinks, of
course) available in the galley. No amenity kit offered to economy passengers - prior to landing in
BKK, toothbrush/toothpaste kits were stocked in the lavatory. Was not looking forward to 17 hour
flight, but this was more pleasant than most 4-hour flights I've taken.

20 March 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
Recently traveled Thai Airways on BKK-SIN-BKK. Their internet check-in service is very user-friendly
and quick. I was lucky to fly with the A340-600 that comes with AVOD and ranges of entertainment
options even with 2 hours flight. Crew top-notch. The inflight product is flawless as passengers
were offered with hot towel and give-away headsets. On the way back, I was flying with the
relatively old A330-300 but the service was again perfect with ample seat pitch, crew offers Orchid
to the passengers before landing in Bangkok. Only problem with his flight is the baggage arrival
which arrived very late, around 40 minutes after I disembarked. In conclusion, would have been nice
if the A330 have PTV as it is also used on medium haul flights.

BKK-SYD RETURN Royal First. Both flights on older 747-400's - although seating renovated, cabins
still look a little dated. Service attentive and polite. Good amenities pack and great choices of
meals; wine choice limited, however many other drink options available. Lay flat seats comfortable.
Service BKK - CDG more polished and polite with flight manager greeting each passenger by name on
arrival and departure. Certainly Thai's First product very good value for money as much cheaper than
most other airlines on this route. Positive experience with good service.

Kuala Lumpur-Bangkok Business Class. Pokey business lounge at KL, poorly stocked with food and
beverages. Surely, at one of the world's most over-specified airports in terms of size they could
find somewhere more spacious and well-appointed. Reserved front seats on line at time of booking.
B777 quite new and well equipped - seats comfortable, food and service very good on this 2 hour
flight. Bangkok-Hong Kong Business Class. Superb check-in for Business and First at BKK - bags taken
from car to empty check-in by attendants. Tip - check your departure gate and use the Thai lounge
closest - it is easy to go straight into the largest lounge by check-in, which is crowded, and then
have a massive walk to your gate. Newish B747, AVOD etc, upper deck seats reserved on line. Very
good service all round. Looking at other comments, why Thai use this spec of plane on "local"
routes, when they use ageing 747's with far fewer facilities to Europe, is a mystery.

LHR-BKK return economy. Having flown BA, Qantas and EVA, Thai is my preferred carrier on this route.
Check in at LHR was open early and no queues. I'd checked in online and the attendant pointed out my
seat choice had modest reclining ability and changed it. Well done! Flight attendants well organised
and attentive with frequent drinks service. Food was excellent. Ancient 747-400, seats a little
uncomfortable but good pitch. Would like to have a foot rest to avoid getting numb thighs.
Entertainment poor, but then I rarely use it.

BKK-PKE. Check in very good for Gold Members, Lounge good but they changed the coffee machine and no
Cappuccino available. Boarding a mess as Chinese tour groups with many plastic bags, cartons, big
and heavy suitcases had problems to stow it and got no assistance from the crew. No safety Video was
shown or Crew instructions instead! Beverage as usual everything available, even a brandy after the
menu. Entertainment very limited on 747 Main screen, most times screen was empty after movies to
flight information program. Good flight experience depend only on the mood of the Crew.

For those of us who are used to travel economy on THAI worn out 747planes on European routes,
travelling Bangkok-Jakarta round trip was next to heaven. The 777 plane was a pleasant surprise,
with good food, great leg space, and an up to date entertainment system for each passenger. I
believe that THAI would have been a 5 star airline, if it was not for the big variety of their
planes.

Royal First Frankfurt-Bangkok vv in B747 with their latest product in First. Flat beds comfortable,
pre-ordered Lobster very tasty, IFE good, all flights nearly in time. Same amenity kits with (sweet
smelling) "Orange vert" products from Hermes for male and female passengers, so I gave everything to
my wife( most of the passengers were male!). On both flights FA's in First were a bit older, but not
so friendly as I that have experienced with younger staff in Royal Silk class on previous flights.
Probably experienced but they did their job mechanically and nearly without a smile. As on previous
flights in Royal First, FA's did not address the (10!) passengers by name (whilst many of Thai's
Asian competitors do this in their business class). Escorted arrival service in Bangkok again was
very good, from disembarking through immigration and baggage claim it took about 10 minutes (but as
usual in Bangkok, the baggage had still not arrived there). Royal Silk Class passengers should know,
that they (like First Class passengers) are also allowed to use the immigration counter for
diplomats (first counter on the right hand side), you also can find this offer on Thai's website.
On our return flight for the first time, Thai offered an arrival service in FRA for (Royal First)
passengers with onward flights. We had a connecting flight with LH to HAM and so we were escorted
through the crew immigration counter, whilst it was overcrowded at all other counters. Good service
which in Germany you normally do not find. Overall it was worth the money and Thai is a four star airline.

JFK-BKK-JFK Premium Economy, A340-500, seats 36AB both ways. Check in efficient at JFK with
dedicated line for Premium Economy customers. Boarding on time and smooth. Plenty of overhead bin
space. Last row of Premium Economy does recline as far as other rows; seats are not stopped by
bulkhead. Recommend these particular seats highly. Glad we paid extra for Premium Economy. A lot
more leg room, more seat width and much larger arm rests in between seats. Glanced back at regular
economy and it looked pretty cramped and typical of must economy seating. AVOD system worked
flawlessly although when person in front reclines the angle of the screen, even when adjusted,
throws the clarity a bit off. Need to slink down in seat to get a clear picture. Odd this was not
engineered properly. Three food servings, either OK or good but nothing special. Looked like the
same food as Economy but served on better dishware. FAs either good or very good. Not quite as nice
as Cathay Pacific but way better than any US carrier, needless to say. Their English was good
enough. Arrived on time. Long wait at BKK immigration with long lines for non Thai citizens and no
lines for Thai citizens, but they would not allow lines to cross! Luggage was off the carousel by
the time we got to that area. BKK provides lots of opportunity to walk long distances but signage is
not the problem I've read about. On trip back surprised to find no dedicated line for Premium
Economy but was there early enough to avoid a long wait. Security was OK but then had to go through
another round of security after checking in at gate. Pretty slow as they pawed through carry on
bags. English language gate announcements not decipherable. Flight back in same seats was delayed 30
minutes on the ramp and then 30 minutes more in the pattern at JFK. Landed in snow storm about an
hour late. Got through immigration and customs very quickly only to find the weather had caused
connecting flight to be canceled. All in all, Thai does a very good job. Easily the best choice to
BKK because it is non stop from JFK and worth considering for other destinations in SE Asia via BKK.
Premium Economy, again, well worth the small "premium".

BKK-PNH-BKK-HKT-BKK in economy. Sometimes Thai are great and other times miserable. I think their
ageing fleet and inconsistency are the main problems. Some planes were new and very comfortable, and
others at least 15 years old! They do sometimes amaze, like with a hot meal with full service on a
50 minute flight from BKK to PNH! As a Star Alliance and a Royal Orchid Plus member, I always use
the alliance carriers. I think ROP is a decent program and has unique offers to redeem miles (like
the new spa redemptions!), but I almost always fly non-Thai members. Thai will have to really become
a much better, consistent product before I fly them outside of Thailand and its neighbors. I know
that they can do it, given their reputation with the BKK-JFK flights where the service, food,
entertainment, and aircraft are all top notch.

BKK-LHR return in Economy Class B747-400. Both flights full in all classes with no spare seats. Thai
Airways economy class is adequate but nothing special. What is letting them down now is their lack
of decent entertainment on this route. There were no in-seat screens - just the single cinema-style
large screen in each section of the cabin - and even that didn't work properly or was switched off
on both flights. The staff were helpful and polite and the food was average.

London to Bangkok return Royal Silk Class. An admirable flight in most respects, but food and its
presentation, particularly on the outward flight, was not of the standard one would expect in
Business Class. Even more importantly was the indecent haste with which the serving of the meals
was implemented. On both flights it was hard to escape the feeling that the main object of the
cabin staff was to clear everything away and turn out the lights and force the passengers to retire.
Indeed, it became a case of not daring to rest one's cutlery during the meal in case the plate was
snatched away. Interestingly, the same criticisms of this airline were echoed by a passenger using
the Royal Silk Class ex-Germany. This experience did marr what otherwise would have been two
reasonably pleasant flights.

Thai Airways should listen more carefully to the cry from European passengers about the old, old 747
planes they are using to this continent. I flew Premium Economy Stockholm-Bangkok the other week,
and cannot imagine that these are the same seats they are offering passengers in Business Class from
other European destinations. It is a mystery to me that the Scandinavians vote Thai to be Airline of
the year. Of course, if the alternative is Scandinavian Airlines, Thai will probably be the best! On
my return to Stockholm I tried to buy an upgrade from Economy. Impossible. The flight had been full
for two months!

Phuket to Bangkok J class. Domestic flight delayed by 2 hours due to backlog of passengers electing
to clear immigration in Phuket instead of Bangkok. As I had a 3 hour stopover in Bangkok for my
international flight I elected to clear immigration in Bangkok. I do not believe that Thai airways
should have held the plane up because some passengers elected to go through immigration in Phuket. I
made my connection with minutes to spare, a lot of people on that plane did not! In my opinion Thai
reps should have insisted that all passengers for the flight should have made their way immediately
to the domestic departure lounge and board the plane.

Bangkok-Sydney-Brisbane. Check in great at bangkok as you would expect. One thing I hated was
getting hand baggage opened and screened at x-ray and then having hand baggage opened and searched

LHR-BKK return Business Class. Both outbound and inbound flights on aged 747s. Business class seats
uncomfortable - little padding and not fully flat, so you slide downwards mid-snooze! Inflight
service not impressive. Meal quality poor - chicken thigh as a main course, instant noodle soup as a
breakfast option. Ran out of champagne within less than an hour of take-off. The menu says they have
good quality wines on board, but these were not available, and the wine they had said house white on
- poor quality. FAs said this was commonplace and encouraged us to complain. Thai Airways do not

LHR-BKK-CNX Economy. Flight jampacked and after take off the cabin crew service was brisk - food
was tasty, but then lights out as they assume that everyone wants to sleep. No seat back videos and
the entertainment on the big screen in very poor. Transfer in BKK was very smooth and we boarded a
high density seating 777 to CNX. Very small cramped seats and a small box with a savoury snack,
juice and coffee - but the flight is only for one hour. On return trip, check in at international
departures in CNX was brilliant, though the departure lounge is very boring. Only one small stand
selling refreshments and a couple of very small duty free shops. BKK easy transfer onto the same
tired 747 to LHR. This time the food was excellent and drinks were constantly coming around. I think
Thai need to update the fleet they use for European destinations. They use far superior planes for
the Hong Kong, US and Australia routes! Still the best way to get to CNX though.

BOM-BKK business class. Check in Bombay was chaotic. The lounge is far away, shared with many other
airlines, and crowded. Once onboard, staff were okay - unfortunately, on Indian flights, Thai put
its older aircraft. Even for a 4h flight, in the middle of the night, you expect a better seat tham
old domestic business seats. BKK-HCV-BKK in business class. Connecting from BOM, there is a long
walk to find the lounge near the relevant gate. That is a small lounge near terminal E if I recall
properly. Nice touch though are cubicles with small beds where you can sleep. Do not forget your
alarm, since no announcements are made. Quick boarding, large comfortable aircraft for such a short
flight. Good breakfast. Checking on the return flight was quick and efficient. Lounge in the newly
international terminal in Ho-CHI-MINH City airport is very nice, lots of good food, free wi-fi. A
good value for money trip. BKK-MEL in Business class. Checking quick and efficient, and dedicated
immigration for First and business class passengers a plus. Lounge is huge and comfortable, if not
extraordinary. Long walk. PAs very professional but where is the personal touch which used to be
Thai trademark? Seats were the new business class seats - uncomfortable.

FRA-BKK Business Class. Check in at Frankfurt a bit of a shambles. Even though there is one check in
desk for business class passengers, you have to jump the queue in front of hundreds of economy
passengers who have been standing there for some time, so you can imagine some people are not
pleased. Thai Airways should give this some thought. We had seats 14JK which were upstairs. Wasnt
too convinced about the new seats they had on this B747. They look good but that is about it. You
tend to keep slipping downwards on these seats when you are trying to sleep. Flat beds for a 10-11
hours flight would be a lot more suitable. However, the service was good, although a bit rushed
since this was an evening flight and you get the impression that the FAs would just like to get the
meal service over with and lower the window shades so that everyone can either sleep or watch the
movies. Wine was very good and meals were nothing special. Why does every airline seem to think that
passengers love cold salmon as an appetizer? The new airport is quite impressive but beware you
have to walk miles to get to gates so leave ample time. Return, separate check in for business class
customers and ample check in desks. Speedy immigration too. Visited Thai new business class lounge.
Much better than the old airport. Very spacious and a good selection of food and drinks. Same
aircraft again. Seats 17JK again upstairs. This time an afternoon departure. Meal service wasnt as
rushed. Catering OK. We were an hour late departing but captain got us into Frankfurt nearly on
time. All in all I would rate Thai as a 4 star airline, but they should think about changing the
seats. On both legs I could not sleep and did not arrive refreshed. Isnt this one of the deciding
factors about paying for business class?

LHR-BKK return on B747-400. As others have mentioned the lack of AVOD seat back tvs does let this
otherwise excellent airline down. Its the first time I've travelled long haul in the past few years
not to have seatback tvs. The service is excellent, good food and plenty of it and no shortage of
drinks. Avoid seats at the back because you have no chance of seeing the tv screens, although the
inflight movies were great anyway! Seats have good legroom. Both flights were on time. Id recomend
this airline to Thailand as its non stop. Once they update their inflight entertainment on this
route they'll be a 5 star airline.

but FAs did a good job & were attentive. The Thai inflight entertainment in economy is pathetic and
it is about time they dragged themselves up to the level of most other international airlines. The
flights left on time and check in was reasonably smooth although they allowed single passengers to
jump queues and join other passengers - very annoying after you do the right thing.

Economy class with Thai Airways from LHR for our honeymoon and were extremely disappointed with the
service. We were shocked to find that there was only one main screen showing a few terrible films,
which we could not even see from our seats. The food was okay and generous - the service was
attentive, but it cannot make up for using such old planes on a very long flight. When we asked at
Bangkok airport about the transit lounge for economy passengers advertised on their website, we were
told it has been closed down, which was a problem given that Suvarnabhumi airport has almost no
seating until you reach the gates, where you then have no refreshments/entertainment options to kill
time while delayed. If we fly to Thailand again we will use another airline.

JFK-BKK-JFK in Royal Silk (Business). This is my 2nd trip with Thai on this ultra long haul. The
first time in Premium Economy. Business makes this 17hr flight better. Outbound the service was
stellar, meals served at the right times by attentive flight attendants and the quality of the food
was good. On that leg of the trip the cabin was about 40% full. Seats comfortable but not ideal, I
couldn't really get to sleep in the slanted bed. On the return the cabin was 100% full. Service
suffered. FA's weren't able to cope with the passengers. Food on the way back wasn't as good. With
other airlines raising the stakes in the business class wars Thai has some work to do. Fully flat
beds in Business would be great and better meals and wines.

MNL-BKK return in business class. Outbound flight delayed 1.5 hrs with no explanation. Check in
quick at MNL and provided directions to lounge. Lounge a little small for the number of passengers
but food okay. Warm welcome on board full flight, with an offer of champagne or juice. Meal order
taken before departure with three choices of main. Pre-dinner drinks offered then entree, main and
cheese/dessert. Crew polite and any request was easy. Return from BKK, fast track immigration a huge
benefit. Several lounges to choose from: food mediocre but reasonable coffee/tea/drinks selection
available. Boarding quick. No pre take off drinks, but dinner choices taken before departure. Very
polite crew. Overall a positive experience.

BKK-HKG-BKK business class. Check in at BKK fast and dedicated fast track Immigration on departure
is a huge advantage at the peak morning rush hour. However, 20 minute walk required to get from
Immigration (at the East side of the airport) to gate E10 (final gate at the extreme south west
end). If you have to do that route in reverse at Arrivals level, there are plenty of moving walkways
to speed you through. Departure level on the other hand is cluttered with shops and restaurants, and
there are just two small ones until you reach the security check close to the Gate. So that
maddening walk feels endless. I fail to understand how such a new airport can have such a major
design defect. Then, having finally reached E10 just in time and expecting to get straight on board,
I found a packed gate area. As the staff informed me, the 10:30 am flight is often delayed because
so many pax have to connect on to it from other flights! So much for being at the gate no later than
10 minutes prior to departure! The old style seats allowed lots of room and the flight itself was
fine, although for some reason the FAs rarely smiled. The return my seat had a malfunctioning leg
rest. I was offered a seat in first but it also had a leg rest which did not work. The engineers
fixed my upper deck seat and I preferred to stay there as I wished to sleep. Basically a pleasant
flight, but most TG cabins are in need of upgrading.

Business class LHR to Bangkok. Seat broken, but flight full so couldn't be reallocated. Service
not very good for premium class. Arrival in Bangkok ahead of schedule. Long lines at immigration.
Next day flight to Auckland on time. Newer plane which was good. My seat was very comfortable.
Dinner was served in a rush and then didn't see flight attendants until just before landing. Hope my
return flights in February are better! Ladies used to get an orchid in Business class - what
happened. Also no duty free.

BKK-VTE in Business, A300-600, Booked on line with e ticket. In transit from LHR. Long walk from
lounge and Security to gate D9 but boarded on time with priority boarding for Business and Star
Alliance Gold. Typical Thai welcome - a smile, champagne and Bangkok Times. On time short flight to
Laos. with decent dinner and good wines. Visa cards and Custom forms handed out early so time for
completion before landing. Only aircraft on the stand at Vientiane, smooth disembark by airbridge.
Two queues at Visa - first one to give in your Form, Photos and Passport and then you join the
second to pay the fee and collect your passport. Luggage off quickly (should be with only one
aircraft in). Ours arrived first (a relief) with large red tags from LHR marked "quick transit". The
system works. Another good experience with Thai.

Auckland to Bangkok (Airbus 340-600) then several days later Bangkok to Frankfurt (747) - first
class. Excellent service which started with a glass of Dom Perignon before takeoff. Although the
food was good to average, the Champagne and wine more than made up for it. The seats were very
comfortable and spacious however I was unable to get the seat fully flat, it remained slightly
raised in the middle and at the head, nevertheless I was still able to get a great night sleep.
There was ample to choose from on the AVOD system which was simple to operate if you used the touch
screen method. Thai ground service at Suvarnabhumi airport could not be better; ground staff
escorted us by electric buggy all the way from the plane to the luggage carousel and helped load our
bags into the car taking us to Bangkok. When we returned to the airport for the next flight we were
escorted to the First class lounge and shown to a private(ish) room to the side of the lounge. This
room was fully equipped with sofa /arm chairs, Large Flat screen TV and writing desk. There was a
restaurant but we did not use it, as there were plenty of snacks to keep us going (lovely dim sum
and club sandwiches). To help pass some time before the flight to Frankfurt, my wife and I enjoyed a
1hr massage in the Spa. All-in-all, brilliant value for money for a wonderful first class
experience.

LHR/BKK in First. Whilst check in with Thai at LHR is nothing like the experience at BKK at least
when travelling F the check in is quick and efficient. Had pre requested 1A/K .Fast track security
was very busy but we were soon in the SAS London lounge which was reasonably quiet and comfortable
with only 5 flights in there. Incoming was an hour late so we had a delayed boarding but found there
were only 3 of us in First so the FA was delighted! Champagne quickly served together with sleep
suits , menus ,wine lists and comfort pack, extra pillows and blanket. Excellent menu and wine list
but ate lightly. New sleeper seats on the 747-400are excellent and have a massage feature. Slept
well and woken to enjoy a light breakfast as we approached Thai airspace. Met on arrival by Thai
ground staff who escorted us to the First Class Lounge as we were in transit. Altogether a wonderful
experience and all for the same price as a BA Club ticket.
