LHR-BKK-SYD return in Business class. Easy check in and fast track security. LHR-BKK in a 744.
Comfortable enough, but seats a bit narrow. Wasn't impressed with the food, which also took a good
90 minutes to complete the various courses when I wanted to sleep. Found the same flying BKK-LHR in
the day when they insisted on serving a full meal then closing all the shades and sending us to
sleep despite it not being time. BKK-SYD in a 777-200ER. Similar seats, but slightly newer. Lounge
at BKK nice and had a good shower, but the food choice bad. SYD-BKK in a 777-300 with old style
cabin. Less comfortable seats and disturbed by stop in BNE. I'd happily fly Thai again in this
class, but would rather they served Thai food than their often inedible attempt at Western food.

Round trip FRA-BKK-SIN/KUL-BKK-MUC in C. Thai offers a very interesting fare for this trip compared
to LH or SQ. Longhaul flights on B747-400. Aircraft may be a little bit tired but the Business Seats
are comfortable and IFE also ok. Crew and meals however quite different: outbound FRA-BKK really
disappointed about the main meals, and crew just served the meals and disappeared not before forcing
everyone to shade down the windows. Meals on BKK-MUC sector excellent and this time crew showed how
to offer the service very fluently and crew always present with a smile. Short haul flights on
quite old B777 and new A330 generally ok, good service and friendly crew.

KIX-MNL award flight using ANA/Star Alliance mileage. Check-in for economy looked a little
disastrous at KIX but being elite waited no more than 10 minutes in the First/Bus line. Lounge at
KIX was good enough to pass 45 mins - very clean but a bit drab, food choices lacking. Flight was
just under 4hr, meal quite tasty. No AVOD, but seat pitch felt larger than 777 on NH. Lounge at MNL
very tight, though hot food selection was surprisingly good.

BNE-BKK B777 economy. Checkin at BNE airport - asked for an emergency exit seat as I am 6'3 and
they happily called ahead to SYD (flight originally went SYD-BNE-BKK) to ensure I could have one. I
also had a connecting flight in BKK onto LHR with a different airline and check-in staff checked in
all my luggage strait through to LHR even through the booking was made separate to the Thai booking.
I was a bit worried about the IFE as people were telling me Thai have yet to update this but I had
video on demand. As far as service and food are concerned, best airline food I have tried - they
give you a menu after take off with 3 different selections as well as complementary cognac after
your meal. Staff were always there ready to help.

BKK-HKT Business Class. No cabin crew member was present when entering the cabin. Soft drinks were
offered as welcome drinks within 5 minutes. A tasty dinner served for this 55 minute flight which
was a welcome surprise. No alcoholic drinks available on these domestic flights. Priority de-
boarding was well arranged by the cabin crew upon arrival in Phuket.

Dubai-Bangkok A330-200, Bangkok-Auckland B777-200er. Such contrasts with Thai. Thai's older aircraft
really let this airline down. They have had a paint job on the outside, but old and worn inside. One
really misses he PTV system. Crew did their job - no more, no less. Flight time of only 6 hours
passed quite quickly. Bangkok-Auckland flight only about 1/3 full so we all had a row of seats to
lie out on. Pleased I didn't pay for an upgrade. Service outstanding with a warm friendly,
professional crew, food some of the tastiest I have had in years on an aircraft. A really good
experience. If Thai could only update all their aircraft, they really would be a 5 Star Airline. I
will give them 5 stars for the Bangkok-Auckland sector.

BKK-MEL Economy Class. Good flight with the exception that cabin crew strictly enforce a "closed
window" policy for a day flight which leaves Bangkok at 8am. Approximately one hour after take off,
breakfast is served. After this (ie approximately 930am) Bangkok time, the captain announces that
all window shades are to be closed to ensure minimal disturbance to the AV system. This is strictly
enforced by all cabin crew until 1 hour prior to landing - for 8 hours. As a traveller who enjoys
flying (and looking out the window) I found this to be unacceptable and I was treated with contempt
by several crew members by questioning this policy, which appears only to be an attempt to minimise
on flight service during the day flight. If you enjoy all windows being shut during a day flight
then this will be no issue!

FRA-BKK-FRA Business Class in 747-400 upperdeck. Planes are aged but C seats are comfortable and
new. FA's not as friendly as one could expect from an Asian company, they just follow their working
instructions so that you won't find any flavour of complicity or humour with pax. I also regret the
haste with which FA's are serving meals as it was on long haul flights. Quality of meals is good,
choice of wines is fine but IFE seems to be better than on most competing airlines.

Premium Economy JFK-BKK-JFK. Seats very comfortable compared to other airlines version of premium
economy, so much better than regular economy class. Above average meals and booze. The dedicated
premium economy line at JFK is a nice perk. Good legroom. Excellent entertainment options plus
electrical outlets in the premium economy seats.

LHR-BKK-SYD and DPS-BKK-LHR Business class (Royal Silk). Our seating requests were honoured at check
in on all legs and bags were given priority at disembarkation. Agree with comments about the Thai
lounges at Bangkok. The lack of a flight information screen is ridiculous. The food selection in the
lounges was poor. We were on a 747-400 on the LHR-BKK legs and the angled lie flat seats very good.
The entertainment system was adequate but selection not as good as on Emirates and the screens
smaller. The amenities pack was reasonable. We were disappointed with the food on Thai when compared
to other airlines. Also, the crew seemed to be in a hurry to serve meals and then disappear until
breakfast, an hour or so before landing. The best leg was on the 777 from BKK to SYD again with
comfortable angled flat seats and the best food and entertainment. The worst leg was on the A330
from DPS to BKK. The seats were uncomfortable particularly the foot rests and the entertainment
selection very poor with only one movie, no AVOD, and a boring selection of TV programmes. We ate
better on Monarch last year than on this leg in Business. Overall, we were slightly disappointed
with Thai. While the seats were more comfortable than on Emirates (except on the A330), the food in
particular and the entertainment inferior.

BKK-DXB Business class. A disastrous stop in BKK where we could not obtain a visa on arrival for a
Moldovan citizen, contrary to information on the web. Star Alliance Turkish Airlines and Thai Air
staff were pretty good in reorganising an outward flight changing our existing booking on the 11th
to this flight to DXB via Chennai. The flight itself was smooth, comfortable but not fully flat
seats. Flight attendants were friendly and helpful. We usually request window seats but were advised
none were available at check in, this information was obviously passed to the FAs onboard who
reallocated us to window seats. Food was excellent. DXB passengers required to remain onboard at
Chennai (45mins). Cleaning staff a little over enthusiastic with the hoover nozzles around your feet
but apart from that a reasonably relaxed 45 mins on the ground. Business class only a 150GBP premium
over cattle class – no brainer. Recommended.

MAD-BKK in economy in a Boeing 747-400. 100% full flight. The economy seats are fine, lots of
legroom and good reclining, the only disadvantage is that there is no PTV available. The food was
very good and they provided drinks and snacks during all the flight. I had a better experience in
the outbound flight in economy than in the return flight in business, which is surprising.

KUL-BKK-HKG in business class. Both flights on Airbus A330s seats were comfortable and legroom was
fine. The food on both flights was acceptable and crews were attentive and gave a good level of
service. A couple of points worth noting, the business class lounge in KUL is not worth the effort.
It has comfortable seats but thats about it. The food and drink selection is poor and is just heaped
on two tables. The new airport in Bangkok is huge I had a 1 hour transit time there and had to get
from one end of the terminal to the other with what feels like miles of shops in between. Each pier
has one security check point to cover all the gates on that pier so this can be busy at times. I
just made it to my gate as boarding started, that said two good flights from Thai

With regards to Wayne Good's comments, I can't quite share his enthusiasm for Thai's inflight
service. Having completed the same flights recently in February, AKL- BKK-AKL on the A340-600 (pre
the intro of 777-200er). Whilst a tasty lunch was served promptly after take-off from AKL, there
was no mid-flight snack. Service incl drinks dried up pretty much after lunch until they began
dinner service 8.5 hours later. PTV was pretty average so imagine the 777-200ER to be vastly
superior. Look forward to trying this new aircraft in next month or so.

Auckland-Bangkok. New 777-200er. Economy Seats good and quite comfortable with good leg room. VOD
excellent with a good choice of movies. Food really good - some of the best I have had for a while

between meals in the back galley and a sandwich and drink served mid flight between meals.

I just finished a round-the-world journey and the best airline was Thai Airways. Their seats are
comfortable, service is hospitable, and their staff pleasant and professional. Their prices run a

completely frazzled from the experience.

I think the comments from M. Montgomery is fabricated. THAI usually starts with snacks and drinks.
Then full lunch and another dinner before landing at MUC. Depending on weather condition, the lunch
is usually served while flying over the Bengal bay. I have taken this flight so many times and I
really have doubts on what I read.

Travelled LHR to Bangkok return Economy Class. Legroom was sufficient. Disappointed that there was
no individual seat back entertainment. TV was difficult to see for some passengers as they were
limited. On return trip there were problems with the film on 2 occasions which were pointed out to
the crew who to their credit fixed the problem very quickly. I was also disappointed with the food
quality on the return trip and the attitude of the staff was quite sharp sometimes. The return
flight was also delayed over an hour with no apology or explanation until we had been in the air for
at least an hour. An announcement in the departure lounge would have been helpful.

SIN-BKK in Business class on A330-300. Thai uses on this route their regional class business class
product, which is a 2 hour flight. Space is a generous 50 inch they serve a good warm meal on this
short flight, only think to criticise is the lack of a decent video system. Otherwise flight was ok
with the respective staff being professional and efficient.

BKK-CAN Economy class. Standard of Thai Service is still one of the best in Asia, if you have a good
crew as I had once again! On this 2.5 hour flight they serve a pre-lunch Drink and 2 choices of hot
meals. Only different to other flights- no hot towels but "high quality" wet tissues. No movie was
shown. 3 Stars because of the the worn A300 which brought the flight experience down and the
boarding from a Bus into the "hot" Aircraft, which was just cool when we reached 10,000 feet.
Engineers had to fix sealing with tape, 36J backrest loose, Audio system stopped from time to time.
But the crew was helpful and friendly to find other seats.

BKK-MUC-FRA. The problems started at the airport check in desk, when they told me that the flight
was overbooked. They kept me waiting 20 minutes, saying that they might reroute me via London, or
put me on the evening flight. Eventually, a seat miraculously appeared. The last seat on a very
full flight. Made my way to the gate. Finally, arriving at the gate, noted that some passengers
had already boarded, while most others where waiting. Eventually boarded the flight. Flight was
pretty full. They did not serve lunch for about 2 hours into the flight, despite being a lunch time
flight, although a snack was served. No PTV in the seat, but reasonably good legroom. Showed 3
films on the flight. Arrived a Munich, made up some of the lost time on the flight.

MEL-BKK-HNX return Economy. I hadn’t flown Thai in many years, so it was a relief to find that they
offer decent leg room in long distance economy (less so on domestic flights). On the outward journey
from Melbourne to Bangkok, I wasn’t so happy about the way seats behind the bulkhead were used by
staff as a way of moving from one side of the plane to the other. This was later emulated by
passengers, who seemed to regard it as a right-of-way. One drunk in particular was quite aggressive
about trampling his way through, back and forth, all night. The woman sitting next to me had an
infant in her arms and there was a risk of someone lurching into them (as the drunk did into me).
While it would be easy to whine about bad passengers, or the inaction of the staff, it is a design
problem. The AV system worked fine. There were water runs (water, orange juice, cola) throughout the
night. Meals fine for economy - I had asked for a low fat/low calorie diet. I liked the way cabin
crew kept an eye on my seat, checking when I occupied it that I had actually ordered the low fat
meal. Similarly, on the return journey, I was impressed as I watched the check-in crew in Bangkok
sorting through seat allocation so that families were seated together, for instance. Every flight
was on time, more or less, and over four sectors, the crew smiles continued the entire journey,
there and back.

LHR-BKK-LHR Business Class. Painless check in then to SAS London Lounge. This lounge leaves me a bit
cold - virtually non-existent food selection and unimpressive wines. Apparently only one bottle of
champagne had been stocked for the whole of business class - rectified by asking for a glass from
1st class. Wines poor and average food selection/quality. Service OK but nothing special. Seats
comfortable and AVOD worked well but choices of entertainment although numerous aren't the best.
Thai lounge at Bangkok airport (Concourse C) nice to look at but not much there in terms of food or
reading materials and no wine or champagne. Boarding of return flight a shambles but better service
throughout the flight. Only just a 4 star airline I would say in terms of business class and only
then because of the lie flat seats which fairly comfortable. Cathay, Singapore and Malaysian are
ahead.

JFK-BKK return. A340 seats in economy have quite a bit of legroom. IFE - games, movies, TV (all on-
demand) definitely better than most airlines, and way better than my last international flight on
UA. Food tasty; 3 meals served on this flight (alcohol complementary); the two main meals had 3
choices (I'm used to only 2 choices on American carriers). 12 hours into the flight, woke up hungry
- delighted to find raisins, apples, oranges, mini sandwiches and cup o' noodles (and drinks, of
course) available in the galley. No amenity kit offered to economy passengers - prior to landing in
BKK, toothbrush/toothpaste kits were stocked in the lavatory. Was not looking forward to 17 hour
flight, but this was more pleasant than most 4-hour flights I've taken.

Recently traveled Thai Airways on BKK-SIN-BKK. Their internet check-in service is very user-friendly
and quick. I was lucky to fly with the A340-600 that comes with AVOD and ranges of entertainment
options even with 2 hours flight. Crew top-notch. The inflight product is flawless as passengers
were offered with hot towel and give-away headsets. On the way back, I was flying with the
relatively old A330-300 but the service was again perfect with ample seat pitch, crew offers Orchid
to the passengers before landing in Bangkok. Only problem with his flight is the baggage arrival
which arrived very late, around 40 minutes after I disembarked. In conclusion, would have been nice
if the A330 have PTV as it is also used on medium haul flights.

BKK-SYD RETURN Royal First. Both flights on older 747-400's - although seating renovated, cabins
still look a little dated. Service attentive and polite. Good amenities pack and great choices of
meals; wine choice limited, however many other drink options available. Lay flat seats comfortable.
Service BKK - CDG more polished and polite with flight manager greeting each passenger by name on
arrival and departure. Certainly Thai's First product very good value for money as much cheaper than
most other airlines on this route. Positive experience with good service.

Kuala Lumpur-Bangkok Business Class. Pokey business lounge at KL, poorly stocked with food and
beverages. Surely, at one of the world's most over-specified airports in terms of size they could
find somewhere more spacious and well-appointed. Reserved front seats on line at time of booking.
B777 quite new and well equipped - seats comfortable, food and service very good on this 2 hour
flight. Bangkok-Hong Kong Business Class. Superb check-in for Business and First at BKK - bags taken
from car to empty check-in by attendants. Tip - check your departure gate and use the Thai lounge
closest - it is easy to go straight into the largest lounge by check-in, which is crowded, and then
have a massive walk to your gate. Newish B747, AVOD etc, upper deck seats reserved on line. Very
good service all round. Looking at other comments, why Thai use this spec of plane on "local"
routes, when they use ageing 747's with far fewer facilities to Europe, is a mystery.

LHR-BKK return economy. Having flown BA, Qantas and EVA, Thai is my preferred carrier on this route.
Check in at LHR was open early and no queues. I'd checked in online and the attendant pointed out my
seat choice had modest reclining ability and changed it. Well done! Flight attendants well organised
and attentive with frequent drinks service. Food was excellent. Ancient 747-400, seats a little
uncomfortable but good pitch. Would like to have a foot rest to avoid getting numb thighs.
Entertainment poor, but then I rarely use it.

BKK-PKE. Check in very good for Gold Members, Lounge good but they changed the coffee machine and no
Cappuccino available. Boarding a mess as Chinese tour groups with many plastic bags, cartons, big
and heavy suitcases had problems to stow it and got no assistance from the crew. No safety Video was
shown or Crew instructions instead! Beverage as usual everything available, even a brandy after the
menu. Entertainment very limited on 747 Main screen, most times screen was empty after movies to
flight information program. Good flight experience depend only on the mood of the Crew.

For those of us who are used to travel economy on THAI worn out 747planes on European routes,
travelling Bangkok-Jakarta round trip was next to heaven. The 777 plane was a pleasant surprise,

planes.

Royal First Frankfurt-Bangkok vv in B747 with their latest product in First. Flat beds comfortable,
pre-ordered Lobster very tasty, IFE good, all flights nearly in time. Same amenity kits with (sweet
smelling) "Orange vert" products from Hermes for male and female passengers, so I gave everything to
my wife( most of the passengers were male!). On both flights FA's in First were a bit older, but not
so friendly as I that have experienced with younger staff in Royal Silk class on previous flights.
Probably experienced but they did their job mechanically and nearly without a smile. As on previous
flights in Royal First, FA's did not address the (10!) passengers by name (whilst many of Thai's
Asian competitors do this in their business class). Escorted arrival service in Bangkok again was
very good, from disembarking through immigration and baggage claim it took about 10 minutes (but as
usual in Bangkok, the baggage had still not arrived there). Royal Silk Class passengers should know,
that they (like First Class passengers) are also allowed to use the immigration counter for
diplomats (first counter on the right hand side), you also can find this offer on Thai's website.
On our return flight for the first time, Thai offered an arrival service in FRA for (Royal First)
passengers with onward flights. We had a connecting flight with LH to HAM and so we were escorted
through the crew immigration counter, whilst it was overcrowded at all other counters. Good service
which in Germany you normally do not find. Overall it was worth the money and Thai is a four star airline.

JFK-BKK-JFK Premium Economy, A340-500, seats 36AB both ways. Check in efficient at JFK with
dedicated line for Premium Economy customers. Boarding on time and smooth. Plenty of overhead bin
space. Last row of Premium Economy does recline as far as other rows; seats are not stopped by
bulkhead. Recommend these particular seats highly. Glad we paid extra for Premium Economy. A lot
more leg room, more seat width and much larger arm rests in between seats. Glanced back at regular
economy and it looked pretty cramped and typical of must economy seating. AVOD system worked
flawlessly although when person in front reclines the angle of the screen, even when adjusted,
throws the clarity a bit off. Need to slink down in seat to get a clear picture. Odd this was not
engineered properly. Three food servings, either OK or good but nothing special. Looked like the
same food as Economy but served on better dishware. FAs either good or very good. Not quite as nice
as Cathay Pacific but way better than any US carrier, needless to say. Their English was good
enough. Arrived on time. Long wait at BKK immigration with long lines for non Thai citizens and no
lines for Thai citizens, but they would not allow lines to cross! Luggage was off the carousel by
the time we got to that area. BKK provides lots of opportunity to walk long distances but signage is
not the problem I've read about. On trip back surprised to find no dedicated line for Premium
Economy but was there early enough to avoid a long wait. Security was OK but then had to go through
another round of security after checking in at gate. Pretty slow as they pawed through carry on
bags. English language gate announcements not decipherable. Flight back in same seats was delayed 30
minutes on the ramp and then 30 minutes more in the pattern at JFK. Landed in snow storm about an
hour late. Got through immigration and customs very quickly only to find the weather had caused
connecting flight to be canceled. All in all, Thai does a very good job. Easily the best choice to
BKK because it is non stop from JFK and worth considering for other destinations in SE Asia via BKK.
Premium Economy, again, well worth the small "premium".
