YYZ to OTP via Montreal & Zurich. Each leg of the trip was excellent. Planes spotless and did
not find seats cramped and able to stretch our legs. Food excellent, wine/beer/liquor
available each flight, chocolates given each flight, even the short YYZ to YUL flight. Crew
friendly and attentive. Flights on time. Would recommend them to anyone especially since the
pricing was so much better than Air Canada and KLM.

BHX-ZRH-BKK and back in July. I can confirm with other comments on here, SWISS customer
service is simply appalling (non-existent!). Normally fly to BKK on Qatar Airways but was
pleased to see reasonable fares from BHX which is much more convenient for me. A week before
departure, I saw an offer to upgrade my flights to business for £440 per pax, and thinking
this was a great deal, I went ahead. When the new e-tickets arrived, only the in-bound had
been upgraded. I called SWISS immediately to query, and could get no-where for three days –
was passed through various departments, and was treated dreadfully, being told it was clear
this was only for the inbound. This had not been clearly represented. I found out that the
customer relations line is only open from 0800 to 1000 Swiss time (during which you simply
cannot get through), and the refund line is only open from 8000 to 1200 Tues and Thurs only -
if you have a problem, no one can help! Emails are not answered, I’ve sent three now and no
response. Just 2 days before the trip, I managed to get a supervisor who finally cancelled the
up-grade, and then charged me £68 extra to book me and my partner back in to Economy!
The outbound flight was uneventful, only there was an hour delay on the ground at ZRH. We were
delayed and left waiting at the gate for over an hour, and it was about 30C in the cabin. They
are obviously too cash strapped to run the air-con or offer water to drink. Seats were ok, but
AVOD did not work, and no apology or explanation was made. The meal was one of the most stingy
I’ve had for a long haul flight – starter of cut up lettuce and cottage cheese! (Being used to
SQ and QR you really see the difference). I pressed the call bell for water and no response.
When some bottled water was bought round, the steward graciously advised us we could get
refills in the galley. (In other words don’t expect us to come to you). BKK-ZRH-BKK had
slightly better food, the catering from BKK must be cheaper for them! Crew were much more
attentive, and the AVOD worked on this flight. However at ZRH our ageing Fokker 100 for BHX
developed a fault, and after leaving us sitting on the taxiway for over an hour they finally
decided to bus us back to the terminal. In fairness they did get us onto a replacement
aircraft very quickly, and this was an A320 – nearly twice the size of the Fokker which
must’ve cost them some money to use only 1/3 full. Upon arrival home in the UK I realised I’d
stupidly left my iPOD on the Fokker when we were asked to de-plane back to the terminal. I’ve
emailed to see if they have had anything handed in to their lost property at ZRH. Again, no
reply. I’ll be driving to London and using Qatar Airways or SIA from now on – it’s easy to see
how their 5 stars are earned when you try an alternative.

LHR-ZRH in Business, ZRH-LHR in Economy. Outbound flight full, boarded quickly and departed
on time. Service excellent with very good cabin crew, although they did seem quite tired.
Given chocolate which is a nice touch but not really what you want at 7am. Return leg was
empty, very attentive service. Crew were chatting to passengers and making everyone welcome.
Would use Swiss again, especially with such low fares.

CDG to JFK via Zurich. CDG to Zurich flight was uneventful, short and OK. Food was
surprisingly good and simple. The move to terminal 1 in CDG was not a good one: you have to
walk long distances, and only have the choice between Star Alliance lounge that is very remote
from the gate or a closer but amateurish SAS lounge (if you are star alliance gold member).
Flight to JFK on new A330-300. Flight full, but staff calm and very good service - also good
food & wines. The new biz class is a massive upgrade compared to the old A330/A340. Seats are
a bit hard and narrow, but convert into a comfortable, long bed. Only regret is the meal is
served on a tray, not by the plate

BKK-DUS. The staff was helpful, onboard entertainment system is great. Both dinner and
breakfast were nice and good wine. Nice swiss chocolates after landing.

Short-haul on A319/F100. Very consistent superior Economy Europe product. Spotless refurbished
aircraft, smiling cabin crew and above average ground staff. Fares 50% cheaper than direct KLM
flights ex-AMS on both tickets. No problems with short connections, including baggage.
Business class looked very disappointing: same economy seats with a cold snack.

MIA-ZRH A340. Awful business seats. Was traveling with my wife and kids and the kids kept
sliding down the seat and onto the floor. Why in the world don't they just make them
horizontal and not angled? Service good. Food was exceptional. Have never said that in 30+
years of flying. ZRH airport is a dream. Bags were off in record time. Would probably fly
them again, but please, do something about those awful C class seats.

Very interested to read James Brook's comments regarding Swiss Int'l customer service. I
entirely agree. I had a problem with non allocation of frequent flyer points earned on a
recent LHR-ZRH-YUL return flight. I'm registered with Air Canada's Aeroplan (a Star Alliance
partner) and have my membership number on my Swiss profile and it gets printed on the E-
ticket. No award from Swiss of over 10K miles, resulted in a reply stating they could not help
as the flight had already taken place! Would I please contact Air Canada. Thankyou for your
understanding!! A reply from myself that in fact I had no understanding (due to the profile
and E-ticket) got no reply from Swiss. I appreciate that my problems were insignificant
compared to Mr Brook's - it's just the attitude that stinks. I've now had to go back to Air
Canada - now that's another story!

Flying Moscow DME- London LHR and missed my connection due to the appalling Russian carrier
Vim Avia delivering me to Moscow 24 hours late. I accept that by not checking in I forfeited
my flight but Swiss' attitude was that I was not deserving of any assistance and they tried to
milk me for one thousand pounds or so to take me to London. I was insured so ultimately not
out of pocket but could not believe their blanket refusal to offer any kind of assistance,
leaving me high and dry at Domodedovo at midnight. Subsequent correspondence with Swiss
Customer Service has resulted in a similarly dismissive, "crawl back under your stone" attitude.

ZRH-LAX: Easy check-in and quick walk to the First Class lounge. The lounge is nice but does
get quite crowded around noon (when lots of US bound flights leave). I tried the car transfer
to the terminal E. This involves a bit of walking, security check, interesting car drive
(tunnel, tarmac and seeing terminal E from a different perspective), a bit more walking and
yet another security check. I have done it once and would probably not do it again. The flight
itself was nice. Seats comfortable (the A340 still have the old configuration), service and
meals were good, but nothing to get crazy about. The afternoon nap was nice and relaxing.
Arrival into LAX on time and through immigration in record time. Return flight on Lufthansa -
see review there. Nothing to complain - but the little magic touches lacked to make the flight a memorable one.

Booked my flight early friday morning to fly from TXL to ZRH with the last flight that same
day. No problem with booking. Checkin pleasant. Senator Lounge very crowded but enough seats
available. Flight full in Y but only six pax in C. Bottle of water before takeoff. No hot
towels anymore but they offer champagne. Nice cold dinner and drinks kept flowing even on a
one hour flight. Very pleasant flight attendant. Arrived on time. Flying back early saturday
morning. Senator Lounge in Zurich is one of the best lounges worldwide with the incredible
bar. Good breakfast offer. All in all a very enjoyable short trip.

VIE-ZRH-ARN Business Class A320. Fine with friendly efficient service. Reasonably comfortable
seats with middle seat kept free. ZRH-ARN better, with snack, choice between 2 warm meals,
generous selection of wines and very attentive service. Landed on time and luggage one of the
first off the belt 10 minutes after landing.
