PRG-ZRH-BKK return in economy. Tickets bought and paid six months earlier, respective seats booked
and confirmed, FF member. Tried to web check-in, but despite website information, not possible.
Clerk in PRG checked our bag through and issued boarding passes for both legs. Later, PRG departure
was delayed for 2 hours, snack voucher (okay for sandwich menu at KFC or cheaper meal in restaurant)
given out. In the meantime, a change of plane so given new boarding passes for PRG-ZRH leg. Aboard
RJ100, black leather seats, plane clean, muffin and tea/coffee plus chocolate bar. After few hours
layover in Zurich waited for boarding the A340. I asked the agent if some exit row were available,
but told the flight is full (he checked boarding passes). 5 minutes later (just before boarding
start) we were called to the gate desk and asked for boarding passes for revision. Being told "your
boarding for this leg was cancelled in PRG and you do not have your pre-booked seats any longer" our
old boarding passes were destroyed and with apology given new ones (adjacent seats but in the
middle/middle!). I have written long complaint already on board, but got no response yet (after 1
month). FAs polite, food edible, good dry red wine and cheese. Bottled water on request. IFE
average, but froze after 2 hours and no restart. On return asked for paid upgrade but no adjacent
seats guaranteed, so I refused. Checked through ZRH to PRG again, seats received. On BKK-ZRH leg FAs
again effective, late dinner (1 am local time) better quality than the outbound. Before landing full
breakfast along with information about connecting flight gates in ZRH provided. Managed connection
in 45 minutes even with my bag for B735 operated by Cirrus. Plane a bit worn, professional (but not
smiling) crew.

BHX-ZRH-GVA return in business class. Check-in at BHX quick and efficient, but not over friendly.
Shocked when boarding to discover that the flight was being operated by Flightline using an ancient
Bae146. No separate business class cabin. Two economy passengers sat in the row next to me. FA
asked them to move with the words "these seats are business class". "I know that it doesn't look
much (she was right) and I've got to hand out some meals here". Cabin crew friendly and efficient,
but food awful. Arrived at Zurich and connected to GVA. Flight operated by a new A319, but crew
the most miserable bunch that I've ever seen. Return flight two hours late leaving GVA, so missed
connection to BHX. Situation well handled on arrival at Zurich and accommodated overnight.
Returned to airport the next day to board the same horrible Flightline aircraft we'd flown out on.
Food again awful, but crew friendly (more than can be said for any of the Swiss crews we came
across). Definitely not a business class experience.

CPH-ZRH on SWISS and back the same night on SAS. What a difference! SWISS aircraft was fairly new,
and looked nice, staff courteous, and tried hard to help passengers with requests. The food and
drink service was adequate and free of charge. On routes like these where one has a choice of two
airlines (belonging to the same Star Alliance), it is obvious which one I would recommend!

LCY-ZRH-IST then IST/ZRH/LCY Economy. LCY-ZRH check in quick, delayed 45mins due to aircraft de-
icing in ZRH causing late arrival of the RJ100 operating this flight. LCY-ZRH crew efficient but
reserved, breakfast muffin plus choice of hot/soft drinks/wine or beer plus swiss chocolate. Flight
connection information given on flights into ZRH very handy. ZRH-IST on what appeared to be a full
flight, boarding took a while due to cabin crew not being proactive in getting people seated, but
departed on time, during the flight only two crew looking after around 150 Economy customers
resulting in a 1h 15m wait after take off for a pizza slice and drinks. Purser on this flight seemed
particularly offhand with people who wished to pass carts during service even if they were elderly
shouting at them to sit down and wait, eventually only giving in when the 70yr old lady said she
felt unwell, and then rolling his eyes to the ceiling at the audacity of someone wishing to pass
during service - very bad. Check in again quick at IST for IST-ZRH, A320 with a crew that obviously
enjoyed what they were doing, Pizza and two drinks runs plus duty free in the 2h 30m flight. In
flight entertainment ZRH-IST-ZRH consisted of map display, airline promotion material, just for
laughs (visual gags) and cartoon shows. Announcements in English/German/French and Turkish (to/from
IST). ZRH-LCY RJ100 delayed 30mins due ATC, captain kept customers informed throughout and the crew
offered water/chocolates and duty free during delay. New economy seating on all legs comfortable
with magazines etc stowed in headrests allowing greater knee-space. Overall a good experience with
the exception of the ZRH-IST flight and a great value for money fare. ZRH great for connections with
hand luggage only can be achieved in less than one hour.

SIN-BKK-SIN, C class. Nice seats and service. OK lounge as they are not within the control of Swiss.
However, I also had the problem of the IFE breaking down twice on the way to BKK (a 2 hour flight)
and once on the way back on the A340. It is close to a 10 minute process to reboot the system after
you get a flight attendant's attention.

ZRH to BRU return same day. Both flights arrived on time and were relatively comfortable despite
fully booked. For the price paid, the service level is pathetic as only standard muffin or sandwich
and coffee in Economy. Overall acceptable service and cabin crew standards - absolutely nothing
special.

27 January 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
Athens-Zurich return. The Swiss policy appears to be "pile em high, sell em pricey" - squeeze as
many seats as possible into the smallest aircraft available, and then charge extortionate prices for
short-haul trips. The aircraft used on this route (an A320) had most appalling legroom for a 'full-
service' airline; add to this bland pizza instead of actual food. On the plus side, service on the
ground (check-in etc) was efficient, and Zurich airport is easy, spacious and relaxed. But on
balance, short-haul European routes like these are better on BA or Lufthansa, and much cheaper on
easyJet.

ZRH-BKK and SIN-BKK-ZRH first class. Crew was very friendly and quick, seat comfortable and the food
quite good, but the choice of drinks is just economy standard. Also very poor IFE with a lot of old
films I've seen one year before on other planes. IFE also broke down twice and needed to be rebooted
again. Airport Service in ZRH is quite good.

LHR-ZRH-HKG economy. I booked this flight rather than going direct because it was a bit cheaper than
direct flights. The food was awful outward and inward. IFE had no up to date films. The flight
attendants were good on all sectors except the HKG-ZRH where they were surly . In future I would
rather pay that bit extra and travel Qantas, BA or Cathay.

MAD-ZRH-LAX return Economy class. They were offering a special $600 upgrade to business class, but I
did not take advantage. There were problems on both flights with the IFE, but it was just a few
seats, and they repaired it promptly. They don't pretend to be your friends, but are committed to a
professional flight. When working, the IFE is very diverse. The food is on the good side of average,
and plenty of drink. Unfortunately they are never priced as great bargains. Along with Lufthansa and
Cathay Pacific, they are the best economy class offering for long haul flights.

NRT-ZRH-VIE. Check-in excellent. Y class mainly Japanese tour groups. Was given an extra legroom
exit row seat with an empty beside me. Food not overly generous & no meal for dinner for over 6 hrs.
Found speaking German to crew improved service somewhat. Strange Japanese seaweed concoction offered
to European pax which was not appealing as a snack. Arrived early into ZRH & VIE also. For the price
paid, the flight was a bargain but food could be improved. Wines were fine for Y class.

Warsaw to Basel in Y. Departure and arrival on time. Flight operated by Avroliner 100. Standard

10 January 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
Business class Johannesburg to Zurich. The angled lie-flat seat was not particularly comfortable and
the blanket provided was standard economy class variety. There was no hot towel service and food was
sub-par. While the menu selection seemed impressive, what ended up on the plate was not too
different from what you'd expect in economy class. Amenity kit was very basic and only included lip
balm and a toothbrush for toiletries. The service was acceptable though they did take a while to
clear away dishes. All in all, an ok business class though I know there are better business class
options to get from Europe to South Africa, especially on South African Airways.

ORD-ZRH-ORD in economy - they had the best last minute airfare to ZRH I could find. The flight

average red wine. Legroom was sufficient on A340-300. Good IFE system with decent number of films.

Dubai - Amsterdam First and Business Class. Dubai-Zurich in first class, old Airbus, tired, worn
out seats, overhead lights did not work and no sleeper suit. Flat bed lumpy and uncomfortable,
didn't bother with the IFE selection was so poor. Food unimaginative, breakfast the worst I have
been served in a first class cabin, amenity kit basic and minimal. The only redeeming feature was
the friendly crew who apologised for the age/condition of the aircraft. Certainly not worth the
money. Zurich-Amsterdam in business class, basic, no real difference between economy and business
classes, even the coffee was awful. Very disappointing, having heard that Swiss has upped their
game, will not go out of my way to travel with them again.

ORD-ZRH segs in Y class return. Flights on time, meal service fine, even tasty with a good red
wine served. FA's were friendly and made several passes offering drinks. IFE good with every seat
an individual screen. A hot continental breakfast was served prior to arrival. The aircraft was an
Airbus 340-300 which I like, very clean, and ample leg room. I like the new Swiss, maybe it's not
the old one but I look at it this way - US carriers Int'l service now stinks! I found Swiss, even
with the change at O'hare, to be a refreshing change.

8 January 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
ZRH-SCL-ZRH economy on new Airbus A330. The flight was alright, food ok and frequent supply of
water. A flight this long is never comfortable, but the IFE helps (were it not for the truly boring
selection available inbound). It is, however, quite annoying to see that the 2 seats (2-4-2) at the
window seem always to be given to passengers that quit the plane on the stopover in Sao Paulo, while
other couples doing to whole flight are left to cram in between the aisles. The stopover gets truly
annoying inbound, when you have to leave the plane for 2 hours without any obvious reason and even
go through the whole security procedure again just to get to the gate you just arrived at (which, at
least, kills an hour of the two that are to be spent).

LHR-ZRH-BOM. A 6am departure from LHR, and uneventful flight on A320. Quick tranSfer in ZRH onto the
A330 for flight to BOM (no flat beds- but a day flight and seat comfortable). A welcoming and
efficient crew. The food was very good and the drink flowed without having to ask. If this is Swiss
then I'll definitely be using them again. The fare I paid was also approximately 60% cheaper than BA
or VS.

LCY-Zurich-Prague-Zurich-LCY. Outbound flight packed due to earlier cancellation. I did online
check in so there was no hassle. New ARJ 100 which was clean with really good leg room and good
service. Flight was pleasant and quiet. Two hours lay over at Zurich was smooth. Managed to get a
drink at the bar. Zurich to Prague operated by Cirrus. When we arrived at the gate our pre-assigned
seats were given. Ground staff changed our boarding pass without any explanation or apology. Our new
seats were at the very back of the plane. 737-500 showed its age – very old deco and tight legroom.
Prague to Zurich again operated by Cirrus. I have to make a complaint about the web check in offered
by both Lufthansa and Swiss. It’s not easy to use and you can’t check a small group in at the same
time. They should learn a lesson from BA or Cathay Pacific or any other Asian airlines. Also if you
have problem with printing you are not allowed to re-print the boarding pass again. The check in
desk at Prague was empty. If I am right the ground was handled by Czech Airlines and they obviously
need more training. One of my friends got her luggage checked through to LCY but boarding pass only
to Zurich. When we requested the second leg boarding pass ground staff was confused. They had to
seek assistance from supervisor. Again an old Cirrus 737-500 but it’s a short flight. We had one
hour to transfer at Zurich and it was quite easy. People at Zurich Airport were friendly.
Swiss ARJ 100 again to LCY. This time very old plane with horrible leg room. Overall Swiss offers a
reasonable price with reasonable service. But unless they upgrade the fleet and improve their web
check-in I will use BA instead.

TXL-ZRH in Business. Check-In pleasant. Lounge good. No Priority Boarding. Crew not as friendly as

only because of the friendly Check in Agent at the Lufthansa Desk.

EWR–ZRH operated by Privatair B737, all business. Even though Swiss is now a Star Alliance member;
check in at oneworld part of terminal, as well using the Delta lounge, which is below average.
Ground staff friendly and efficient. Flight left one time, no IFE, portable DVD handouts - had to
ask for it, with an uninteresting selection. Onboard service not impressive at all, especially on an
all business flight. Crew seemed unorganized, standing in each other’s way, trolleys left completely
unattended in the aisle for quite some time twice. Was sitting in the row, which was left out with
no service at first, twice as well. Would not select this flight again, rather flying on a regular
flight in business, with properly trained flight attendants. Got the similar feedback from some of
my friends, had to try it my self though. Not to be recommended.

LCY-ZRH-BUD-BSL-LCY. Booked two days before for £115. Check in took less than 5 minutes despite
quite a long queue. Aircraft new RJ100 with good legroom. Flight left and arrived late. Service
good, cabin crew somewhat messy and not extremely friendly. No duty free shop. ZRH-BUD operated by
Helvetic on Fokker 100. Great legroom, service good (roll, soft drinks - incl. alcohol, hot drinks,
chocolates), with polite cabin crew. BUD-BSL, service again good and consistent. Old interior with
restricted legroom. Landed at BSL 30 minutes late and had some 5 minutes to catch the connecting
flight. Long walk to the other gate through security although connecting flight a/c was parked next
door. We were met and assisted by Swiss ground staff. Flight delayed 5 minutes so we could make it.
Old cabin, legroom not very good but adequate for such a short flight, service again good and
consistent. Extremely good value for money with consistent service level from professional and
friendly cabin crew.

Originally a simple route. LCY-ZRH-IST but route taken LCY-LHR-ZRH-CDG-IST Arrived at London City
early, walked into the airport and knew I was in trouble. A very long line at the ticket office, all
flights cancelled due to dense fog. Not their fault but still a pain, all passengers required to
make their own way to Heathrow for onward flights. I was rebooked on Lufthansa via Frankfurt, for
some reason Swiss told me that they could only rebook Star Alliance partner flights, not the direct
Turkish flight which would have been great. Finally made my way to Heathrow, to an amazing line at
the Lufthansa desk. My flight to Frankfurt has been cancelled, was rebooked on the next Swiss
flight, bumped up to Business, hot breakfast and bar service for a morning flight. Arrived in Zurich
and the last flight for Istanbul had just departed. The only way to Istanbul that day was via Paris
with AF. Zurich transit area was a complete mess, just walk through immigration and go to the main
Swiss ticketing desks where there is no one! Even the gate agent said it was a smart move as I would
have been line for over 2 hours! Asked for a meal voucher and received a 10.00 CHF credit. Very
nice of them as the delays were not their fault. Return flight IST-ZRH-LCY was on time and the
service good, pizza and full bar served in Economy. Impressed with them for what I paid £140.00
return during peak periods, plus I get Air Canada Aeroplan points!

LCY-ZRH-STR return. Web check-in worked well for London City. Flights
on time. Seats on most planes (AVRO RJ100) had pretty good seat pitch and felt quite spacious, but
on the STR-ZRH flight we had an ancient interior, inluding old ash
trays in the armrests and everything. Food nothing to write home about but adequate for
such short flights. One drink and a muffin/sandwich on the London flight. The Stuttgart flight is
only 25 minutes so they can't do much more than come around with a bottle of water once. Swiss
chocolates handed out on all flights by generally very nice cabin crew.

BKK to LHR return via Zurich Business Class. Service was mixed - FAs were either attentive and
professional or shrill and uninterested. Zurich is an ok airport to pass through although ground
staff are offhand and rude. Business class seats are weird - at too steep an angle thereby reducing
any benefits of a flat-bed. An absolute glaring design error on the part of Swiss and makes them
appear amateurish. I still thought Swiss represent excellent value and is probably the best priced
ticket to Asia from the UK. Yes, you do break the flight, but it is better than breaking in the
Gulf, at the half-way point.

Evening flight CDG-ZHR-VIE on A320 and A319. Check-in smooth enough at CDG, but what a mess of an

delayed. Snack service onboard, limited drinks. The pilot made announcements, when leaving Paris in
French first, then German, followed by English. Upon approach to Zurich, he reversed, starting with
German, then continuing in French. Nice touch. Had to hurry to make connection in ZRH, but airport is
a breeze to navigate. Was upgraded to J-Class for leg to Vie. Service consisted of pre-flight water
bottle, and some tasty pickled cabbage, sausage, and warm bread rolls. Only downside - bag did not

A very strange experience during our flight in First Class on this A330 from Zurich to
JFK. We have a toy poodle (1.5 Kgs) which always travels with us in cabin. However, Swiss has a very
inhuman regulation in obliging the passenger to place the pet in the overhead bin for take off and
landing. Since those take about 30 minutes each, you can imagine what your pet feels up there in the
dark. We have flown many times on Air France, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and Delta where your pet
remains with you next to your seat. I just want to warn anyone travelling with pets to be aware of
this rule existing only on Swiss.

offered a choice between curry beef or meatballs instead! Small quantity but tasty enough. ZRH-BCN:
Economy class. Cabin crew once again professional but rather unfriendly. Snack was the usual treat,
ie. a small sandwich and a drink. Both flights on-time, on modern and comfortable A320 with leather

Comfortable seat on A340, and managed to sleep well. Snacks and soup available throughout the night.
Very good steak for main course, but why do they open the foil container, allowing the meal to go cold
whilst you eat your salad starter? Had to ask for liquer with coffee, not offered to passengers. FA
do not address you by name like Singapore Airlines, so lacks the personal touch of SQ. Good quality

LHR-ZUR-GAR-SCL return in Business/First. First time I have flow with Swiss. Nothing remarkable about
this airline. AVOD on ZUR-GAR leg didn't work. The worse thing is trying to find the Swiss arrivals
lounge at Zurich airport. Asked for directions in the main lounge on level 3 of the airport but spent
45 minutes walking around the airport asking various other Swiss representatives one of whom said that
he had 'heard of it but didn't know where it was'. In the end, I had to go down into what seemed like
the basement of the airport, queue up at passport control again and made it with 5 minutes to spare

It is interesting that food/snack served stays the same over a period of 1 year at least - no changes

Brussels to Jo’burg through Zurich C class. Everything went smoothly, with a
touch of class and outstanding service. The food is fantastic, as well the roastbeef canapé and

Wines superior, their selection includes Swiss wines which are well worth the detour. Flight
attendants make the extra mile to move beyond the mechanical service. Zurich is one of the easiest
transit airport I know, and C-class passengers benefit of priority at the security queues. Long haul
Airbus 340 immaculate, features good IFE. Unfortunately we can all complain about the falsely
flat bedseats where you legs remain hanging on the floor, causing great difficulty to sleep – only a
very few airlines offer proper full flat beds, and that makes a big difference.

Always 2 short hops BRU-ZRH-BUD & return. First leg BRU-ZRH Swiss
Airbus or Avro, very comfortable leather recaro seats on airbus, tasty sandwich, mostly two round of
drink offer in this short route & before landing a small chocolate bar. ZRH-BUD is a different
story. Ancient F-100 operated by Helvetic Airways. 8 times used but never on time even cancelled
twice. Luckily Swiss always send a text to mobile about the situation with apologise. Got an untasty
sandwich onboard, asked for coffee & coke, got the same answer - one option only. Cabin crew like
robots, no smile at all. Hope, Swiss will interrupt codeshare with them very soon.

ZRH-BKK return. Outward in Y class, return I paid for a J class upgrade. Both flights were full. ON
the outward journey, had a good seat at the back of the plane. FA very friendly. Food reasonable for
economy. Decent drink selection. Overall a nice flight and I arrived quite relaxed at BKK, despite the
long and cramped flight. Ticket was cheap, as I booked the day before departure. On the return flight
upgraded to J. A little disappointed at the Swiss J class. Seats comfortable, FA professional.
Although no choice was available anymore for the food: the steak selection had gone very fast and I
was left the choice between Chinese fish and Chinese vegetarian. Unfortunately no real choice for
dessert either, but at least good chocolates with the coffee. FAs did their best. Seats ok, lot of
space as I was in the bulkhead. Nothing to say for the price I paid. Swiss is consistent in their
quality. Cabin clean, incl. washrooms during the entire flight. Drinks served or made available
regularly. Nothing particular about IFE either: it works and when it fails, they reboot it quickly.
Not the top best, not the worst, but real consistent just above average quality. Checkin at BKK was a
bit messy but not handled by Swiss (but by Thai). If you look for a decent "no surprise" airline, then
you should fly Swiss.
