JFK-CAI business. It was a well used 777, seats had a very limited recline, food was terrible and
they do not serve alcohol. Not quite sure how they get into star alliance. Check in on the way
back was terrible in CAI, the flight was 2 hours late and not as much as an apology. I'd never fly
them again.

BRU-CAI-JFK. Brussels to Cairo was 4 hours on an A319 in Business Class. Three coach seats made into
two with space between. Food mediocre. Seats not comfortable. Baggage came out quickly in CAI.
CAI-JFK Older 777. Flying in First Class (small premium to Business Class and big relative
difference in comfort). Old-style seats. Not lay-flat. Business looked cramped. Service was
attentive - no alcohol, but we bought some cold beers and some wine in duty free in CAI before we
left. They chilled the beer and a bottle of white wine and brought us glasses. They wouldn't open
it, but we were allowed to open it ourselves. First meal was breakfast, even thought it was served
at about 11:00-11:15am by the time we got up. Lunch served 4-5 hours later. It was pretty tasty.
Seats looked tired. Bathrooms were clean. Overall a good value for money experience. Half the cost
of First/Business on other airlines.

IST-CAI-RUH economy class. The first leg was on an old A321. Seats looked dirty. The second leg was
on A340, which looked newer and cleaner. Staff were more attentive. It's strange that no
announcements were made on both flights before landing. Crew had to warn passengers to 'fasten seat
belt', to 'close tray tables' etc.

Cairo-Luxor Economy. A very early 6.30AM departure to Luxor. Boarding was painless, but once through
security the domestic airport does not offer any services with the exception of a Segafredo Coffee
shop. A321, a few Business Class rows, but for this 55 minute flight you could really do without.
The layout in Business is 2 across with a small middle seat in between. In Economy the lay-out is
three across. Not a lot of room, but a surprising seat recline for an economy class seat.
There was overhead IFE on small screens. FA’s offered drinks only. We were the first flight into
Luxor International, which turned out to be a relatively new and clean airport. We took the 1AM
flight for our return on exactly the same plane, which again departed and arrived on time. There is
an almost hourly service between Cairo and Luxor, serviced by Egypt Air as well as newly launched
subsidiary Egypt Air Express. Egypt Air offers good value for money and very convenient connections
between these two great destinations.

FRA-CAI-BKK in C-class. Transfer in Cairo is chaotic, but not a big deal, if you know Egypt and the
mentality. MS is sheduled to join Star Alliance in 2009, so you're able to visit their lounges.
B772 from CAI-BKK-CAI, was better than expected - seats are similar to the old C-class seats of
major airlines. Food was ok, but please note MS serves no alcohol aboard! CAI-FRA was operated by MS
on their B738. The aircraft has a business-class section in front with 2-2 config. The flight was
better than expected. Four stars because of perfect money/value rate. I bet, they will act like THY
and increase prices when joining Star Alliance! I hope that they'll modernize all classes and don't
increase the prices so much.

FCO-CAI-FCO. The first leg on A320, the second one on A330. Seats in good conditions. Food was okay.
On the first flight cabin crew not so friendly and I notice one of them switching on his mobile
during the flight! On the second flight cabin crew was friendly.

Bangkok-Cairo B777-300, Cairo-Aswan-Abu Simbel-Luxor-Cairo EMB 160 and A320. 777 flight from Bangkok
could only be described as pretty dire. I have never flown such a dirty aircraft, especially the
toilets. No PTV and very limited movies shown on overhead monitors. Food simple and ok and the crew
were friendly. No drinks runs, but available from the back galley. Internal flights couldn't have
been a bigger contrast. Nice, clean new aircraft, only a drink served. Considering Egyptair are
about to join Star Alliance, they need to upgrade their long hall product, especially with
cleanliness.

CAI-LHR, using 777-200 aircraft. Efficient check in at Cairo. Leg room in economy better than most
airlines in economy. Over head TV's. Food average, only soft drinks served. Staff very attentive.
Flight arrived early into LHR. Overall better than I was expecting.

FRA to CAI, business seats, pre-reserved seats in 2nd row, but they were unavailable at check-in (2
hours before departure). Seats comfortable in the Airbus 330-200, but food was not good. The next
leg CAI-BKK on a B777-200 equipped with old business seats. Ridiculous pitch, insufficient 135°
reclining, bad quality seat. Sat phone unserviceable, food bad. Crew attention was minimum. It seems
Egyptair Airbus 340 have the same bad seats as this B777-200. Only flights with Airbus 330-200 are
OK in business class, other Egyptair aircraft must be avoided on long distance flights.

Alexandria to Athens on EgyptAir and there are two things I'll always remember. One, the flight was
delayed after an irate customer and an airline official got into a fistfight at the boarding gate
door. Two, the seats on the aircraft were insanely small. I am a thin guy and if the seat next to
me had been occupied, I'm not sure that two people could have fitted.

Cairo to JFK in economy. There were many duty-free stores in the terminal with prices in U.S.
dollars including alcohol. However, if you purchased any beverages (water, alcohol) they took it
from you and gave it back to you at the end of the flight because of the liquid ban. I brought two
three-ounce containers with rum and there was no problem with that. However, others had to throw
out water bottles. This is because there is a second X-ray screening that occurs before you walk on
to the aircraft. They used an older 777 aircraft. Seat pitch was 33 inches. Flight attendants
friendly. I called the airline 24 hours before the flight and made my seat reservations. There were
many beverage runs including mango and rum juice. A hot breakfast was served 1 hour after take-off
and hot lunch served three hours later. Before landing there was cake and a beverage service. No
individual tv monitors and many of the seats would not stay in the upright position. The
televisions in the aisle ceilings looked like something from the 1960's and they were covered with
dirt. I wasn't able to get miles with any airline on this flight, however, they are joining Star
Alliance so in the future, this may be possible. Be sure to bring an I-Pod for the flight. Are
group was the first to check in at Cairo and our luggage appeared last at JFK.

Cairo to Heathrow. The aircraft was a 777 and looking rather tired. The seats were comfortable and
there seemed to be quite a lot of legroom. We were served a soft drink after take off and another
with the meal, followed by tea and coffee. Food was no worse than other airline food I've tasted.
There was a recently released film shown, which managed to keep the children occupied for a few
hours, although the nearest screen to us was about 7 rows in front, making it difficult to see. The
crew were friendly and good with the children.

London - Cairo - Asmara and return. LHR-CAI on A340, CAI-ASM-CAI on A320, CAI-LHR on B777. On the
outward journey, the impression was that Egyptair is an average airline; flights slightly delayed,
but not significantly; OK food, but nothing to write home about; films not really worth watching,
but may pas the time. However the return journey left a less favourable impression. ASM-CAI leg was
staffed by some very bossy FAs who were constantly waking people up to raise/lower the window
blinds, despite the fact that it was light outside (shouldn't it be the passenger's choice whether
he looks out of the window or not?). On the final CAI-LHR leg, I was allocated the worst seat on the
ull plane - my seat and the one in front were broken, so they wouldn't remain upright during take-
off & landing; the only video screen we could see comfortably was broken (and several others were
only operating intermittently); by the time the meal reached my seat, there were no choices left -
only fish; coffee was served before we had chance to start the main course; and the trays were
collected as I ate the last mouthful of dessert - the whole meal felt very rushed. Unfortunately,
there aren't too many airlines flying into Asmara, so Egyptair might be the only convenient choice
for some people using this route.

FRA-CAI-JNB in Business Class. FRA-CAI in a 737-800, in a 2-2 configuration with proper business
seats - unlike other airlines that would cramp You into their Economy seats and just leave the
middle seat free. Personal TV with touchscreen available. Pillows, blankets and even amenity kits
provided for just a 4-hrs-flight. Poor seat recline though. Three course meal (choice of 3 main
dishes) was alright. Transfer at CAI quite unorganised and a bit chaotic. You need a bit of
travelling experience and might have to ask some people to find Your way. CAI-JNB Airbus 330. Clean
cabin, friendly staff, another amenity kit, but just a cold platter and a warm breakfast on this 7hr
night flight. Configuration 2-2-2 with sleeper seats (not full 180° recline, but better than
expected before and more comfy than on the FRA-CAI flight. All flights on time. I paid less than 50%
of the price for a business ticket of a major airline such as BA, AF, LH or SAA. But I got at least
75%-80% of the service. Very good value for money and I was even able to collect LH miles on this
flight.

FRA-CAI-BKK return. All flights on time. Flight attendants pleasant, service excellent. All planes
in good condition. Meals good, but nothing impressive. Normal business seats on all legs. Only
transfer at Cairo airport is a disaster, not well organized, less help by the staff, hope this will
change if the new terminal is in operation.
