Mackay Airport

Not Verified | I arrived at Mackay airport at 5.30pm for 6.15pm flight to Townsville. I went to the bar and got a drink, and then at 5.45pm I went back for another, only to be told the bar was closed? There were still incoming and outgoing flights, and other people were also wanting drinks. There was no signage to advise of the closing time. I thought this was very poor. On the start of a long weekend, we could not even enjoy a couple of alcoholic refreshments to start our holidays.

Was transiting between fight from Brisbane to flight to Townsville with wait time of three hours. Boarding areas large enough for amount of passengers. Lots of windows with views over runway. Shops and eateries limited but probably appropriate for airport this size. Check in area clear. Security staff friendly and talkative. Noted the airport has a new Ibis Airport Hotel nearby and looks rather flash. Had a pleasant time while at this airport.
