My experience suggests Gatwick Airport are not interested in the needs of travellers with mobility impairment. I tried complaining but my e-mail was left unanswered. At the South Terminal there is no sensible means for passengers with mobility-impairment to take a trolley to the local bus stops let alone recover the £1 trolley deposit. I asked for the duty manager but he refused to speak with me - I felt treated as a 'nuisance disabled traveller'. I was then directed to walk down several flights of stairs to get to the local bus stops - unbelievable! The route to the bus stops with a trolley was not DDA compliant nor were the slopes cleared of the previous night's ice or snow on arrival.

I think the building work is gradually diminishing and the results are beginning to show. Check-in and departure areas were fine we had a problem with immigration on return when chaos reigned due to incompetent queue management. Two things that really bug me are: lack of airside trolleys - most EU airports provide these and are a godsend for those of us with small kids etc. You are required to have a pound/euro to release trolleys landside/on arrival. This is inconvenient and unpleasant. The argument of 'reduced margins' on airport charges doesn't wash either - LGW charges 11.21 GBP per passenger whereas e.g. Helsinki charges 7.68 EUR and their trolleys are great!

Travelling back home to Geneva on Monday 23rd January I spent over 20 minutes queuing to get through security. We were directed to a side track away from the main area it was cramped and congested. I could see other people moving through the other security area. It seemed to me we had been herded into a newly updated security area. I travel through this airport on a monthly basis and have never been so delayed. I chose to travel on a Monday as this is usually a quiet day. I was delayed further as I detoured to pick up a complaints form. Due to the delay I had no time to pick up papers etc. so the inefficiency of the security area resulted in no extra income for the airport authority. None of us travel for fun anymore so please stop making time spent at the airport even more unpleasant.

A superb airport! We passed through in transit from Scotland to Antigua and both ways we found the staff very helpful the signposting and facilities excellent.

I used LGW N terminal for departure and arrival with EasyJet. Transportation connection to the city is excellent: fast and frequent. Getting from the rail station to N is a breeze with shuttle train. Check-in was fast security took 3 minutes. At the lounge I had a good breakfast then went to the remote 100 gates via high bridge. Same gate on arrival long walk to immigration cleared in 15 minutes and bag on the belt within another 10 minutes. 35 minutes after landing I was off the airport. Good! The only point is extensive use of lifts. Too many ups and downs.

Connecting at Gatwick North Terminal is a nightmare. As an in-transit passenger arriving from the EU Schengen area and with only 60 minutes for connection I nearly missed my flight to Edinburgh. No special immigration checkpoint for connecting passengers. I had to clear immigration and customs reach the arrival hall and then go through security screening again at departure in the main terminal. Queues were horrendous. Beware using this airport if time is tight.

Arguably the worst airport in Britain. Arrived from Vienna in the evening and only made it past immigration control after an hour of waiting chaotic organization all over the place. South Terminal is a building site with limited facilities cold and very unwelcoming a 24 hour M&S outlet your only hope of sustenance at a late hour. Avoid unless you have no other choice!

North terminal this time for Emirates flight to Dubai. Emirates have moved their check in to the new area near BA - this is light and roomy. Little to do airside although a decent selection of coffee shop type eating places. On return let down again by lengthy wait at baggage reclaim although traffic was light and the carousel was the only one being used at the time. Some signs of improvement but not the dramatic steps forward you would believe from the macho talk on the recent TV series.

North Terminal to MAN. It's been over 3 years since I last flew from GTW - based upon this experience it will probably be another 3 years before the next time. The place looked deserted despite arriving just after 18.00 for a Monday evening flight. I've never seen a major airport terminal look so quiet before not at this time of day anyway. Check-in quick and efficient (printing your own luggage tag at the BA machines makes a difference). Several toilets blocked untidy and not flushing. However clearing security only took about 5 minutes (taking your shoes off even if not asked to seems to be the key here) and staff are still friendlier/politer on average than at LHR. Disappointed to find that even at 19.00 hours many shops/cafes were already closing. Overall not really worth the minimal saving made by not flying from LHR.

I always hated Gatwick and have only flown from Heathrow for a few years now. After seeing all the advertising about the new Gatwick owners thought we would give Easyjet a go from south terminal. What a joke its worse than ever. Dirty overcrowded not enough immigration officers slow baggage reclaim and badly signed in the terminals. Could go on all day with the problems we encountered and that's in November summer holidays must be a nightmare. Easyjet are great but badly let down by the airport.
