"Arrivals is small and cramped"

Not Verified | This airport is small. Very small. Arrivals is small and cramped. Departures is similarly small and cramped. Departures is dominated by a way overpriced duty free shop at one end and at the other is a small eatery. In between is a small seating area and toilets. I had planned on arriving at the airport a couple of hours before my flight and am glad I didn't because there is literally nothing to do. So if you are using this airport my advice is to arrive with just enough time to check in and avoid the duty free shop.

"There was no urgency or friendliness"

Trip Verified | I am a resident of Alderney and use Guernsey airport on a regular basis. The customer service provided by G4S (security staff) is non existent. Every opportunity to make your journey swift and courteous whilst carrying out these very important duties seemed totally irrelevant to the staff on duty today (20/01/22). I was travelling with my mother in law who was in a wheelchair after having surgery. The amount of undressing and unpacking of hand baggage was totally unacceptable. After extra body searches with an ever increasing queue of people I retrieved our belongings and started to re pack and get dressed. Unfortunately my mother in law had left some small liquid bottles in her bag. Understandably the items had to be checked. I apologised but was met with a stern look and rather than rescanning the bag had it completely emptied and re searched. I was not alone. This was happening to many others. 2 flights were departing at the same time in an otherwise empty airport. There was no urgency or friendliness. Someone near me said that they felt very intimidated and like they were in Russia! Whilst I have no problem with tight security checks I do have a problem with the lack of customer service. This is a consistent problem whilst leaving Guernsey. I dread going through every time. Why is it such a problem. You’re innocent until proven guilty unless travelling through Guernsey airport! In my opinion the worst experience of anywhere that I have travelled through. I am retired BA cabin crew. In this review I put “no, I wouldn’t recommend this airport” but that’s such a shame because service throughout the Island is fantastic and no way reflects the island of Guernsey.

"the Guernsey airport staff was a very bad dream"

Not Verified | Flown Aurigny to Guernsey four or five times from Gatwick. Of course, a visitor to Guernsey has no choice...the airline has a monopoly. The flights themselves were only an hour, and uneventful. Aurigny flight team is usually OK. Not rude, but not terribly friendly, either. My last trip, the Guernsey airport staff was a very bad dream. They treated me like a suspected terrorist (I'm a past-middle-aged solo female traveler). Kept me until the plane was completely boarded...I was the last one allowed on board. They opened my suitcase and removed every single item. They turned my book upside down and flipped the pages...looking for who knows what. I fully expected sniffer dogs at some point. Since the trip itself had been stressful (horrendous weather, hotel room robbed), this last insult was so upsetting! I was finally allowed on the plane, but fighting tears. The flight attendant was nasty and gave me a "look" for holding everyone up.

"it seemed very odd and left rather a sour taste"

Not Verified | What a very unpleasant end to a lovely stay. I went to the cafe upstairs, asked for a prawn salad, 'we no do them madam', but there's a picture of them in the ladies' toilet, I replied, 'no madam', I asked if they did them in the cafe on the other side, 'we no do them here madam', but there is a picture, 'we no do salad', I did go back into the ladies toilet and took a picture of the advertisement just to convice myself I wasn't going mad! I travelled with hand luggage and had been searched on the way out, my small deodorant and small tube of E45 cream were in a plastic bag on show. However there was a problem so everything had to come out, being of a certain age I didn't give a flying fish who saw all my ladies' accoutrements, the culprit was a half full, or half empty 50ml of tootpaste (so 25ml), but that wasn't enough, everything else had to be examined (except the ladies' things!), the phone charger had to be taken away, and taken to bits for all I know, the deodorant etc all had to be scanned again, surely if they had all passed first time they didn't need to be re-examined, I wasn't bothered as I had plenty of time but it seemed very odd and left rather a sour taste, all the little boxes of pearls and jewellery had to be taken out and examined, I then had to repack everything which I did quite slowly. I can only assume these people have nothing else to do but annoy passengers and being called 'Madam' all the time didn't help. Finally on to the other cafe and yes they had salad, little plastic tubs of pre-packed pasta and stuff, not quiite the delicious seafood I had anticipated. If I ever visit again I'll make sure my hotel makes me a crab/prawn sandwich for the airport because it was all pre-packed plastic food.

"ridiculous bag search"

Not Verified | I cannot believe the absolutely ridiculous bag search I have just had to endure. The full suitcase was emptied and checked in front of all passengers coming through, underwear and all. Very upsetting and is the 1st time out of many bag checked that I felt violated. The check was completely unnecessary, as I was compliant with all items in my suitcase and removed the items that needed to go through separately. This needs to be addressed because it is very upsetting to flying customers, who should not be treated like criminals.

"pulled out all the stops"

Verified Review | Lost my phone at Guernsey airport and the security staff on that day, pulled out all the stops to get it back for me: so grateful, a wonder team. Everything else ran like clockwork.

"deflated staffing with deflated service"

Had 40 minutes at Guernsey airport before sending off my better half. Went to the upstairs bar for a farewell pint. Only 1 person serving but queue only 4 deep. No urgency clearly and over 10 minutes later, eventually served to be told that there was no beer. No effort to rectify the fraught beer supply either. Inflated prices, inflated waiting times, deflated staffing with deflated service.

Check-in would not accept passengers until 2 hours before the flight despite the monitors advising us to do so. Check in person was blunt and almost rude, not acceptable, we are the customers! It isn't my fault she was talking quietly and I had to ask her to repeat every time. Then security, they take possession of my backpack and without comment put it on a unit away from me and left it there. A couple of minutes later another security man came along and started swabbing the bag because I had lots of camera equipment inside. The toilets in departures need a good refurbishment. Otherwise a great little airport, modern, clean, with duty free and so on.

The Airport is really small and the departures lounge is small and unintuitive. The weird door thing doesn't do anything as you could board any plane once out there. Past security the duty free shop is small and is not a world duty free. There is no WHSmith or Starbucks in the terminal. Otherwise extremely good service.

Please please get some training for your check in crew miserable is a mild word. I have travelled to Guernsey twice this year and both times the check in crew seem to be doing all pax a favour. Many years ago in BMI times in Guernsey this would not have been tolerated. All over Guernsey one gets superb service until you get to the airport and check into or ask a question on the Flybe desk. Having worked in tourism for many years(including Guernsey). I feel you are doing Fly be a great disservice. The flight was excellent and on time. Hope next time I will see a change.
