Queuing taken to an art form. Queued to check in - 40 minutes (its much worse early morning as many flights go before 09.00) queued for security 30 minutes. Queued on the stairs near the airbridge 20 minutes when boarding. On the way back queued for 20 minutes at passport control. On the basis you spend all your time queuing there is not time to visit the shops they will try and rob you at every opportunity (£2 for a plastic bag etc). There were two you ladies travelling on my inbound flight with young children one of whom was heavily pregnant. Were the buggies delivered to the aircraft steps? - no they were delivered the baggage belt a good way away and on the other side of the ridiculous passport queue. I've been though a lot of airports in my time and this has got to be the worst I've ever had the misfortune to use. Its 30+ years since I travelled from this joke of an airport and I will not use again unless there is no other option.

We will never fly from Luton airport again. Security is simply a money making scam at this airport. The only liquid I had was an anti-bacterial gel less than 100ml which I took out of my carry on bag and placed in the tray for x-ray. The security person said it needs to be in a re-sealable clear plastic bag. I asked for one he said they were £1 each. I said the anti-bacterial cost less than that and he could keep it. I then noticed the person in front of me had several loose liquid bottles in their tray (not in a bag) and pointed it out to him. He said "I didn't check that tray my colleague did". However this wasn't the only issue my wife never takes liquids out of her handbag when going through security and she's been pulled up on it every time at Gatwick Stansted and Heathrow. My wife was behind me this time at Luton airport security and again left her liquids in her bag. They went through the x-ray machine and no one pulled her up on having liquids in her handbag and it wasn't one little mascara but several liquids in small bottles such as cosmetics nose drops and an anti-bacterial. Therefore my conclusion is that the security is a joke and they don't care if you have liquids in your handbag but if you put them loose in the tray on show then prepare to be charged a £1 for bag.

I work as a driver for a major travel company taking and collecting clients from mainly Heathrow and Gatwick Airports. I had the misfortune to collect clients for the first time from Luton on Monday. What an absolute disgrace of an airport waiting to rip you off at every turn. They had the audacity to charge £7.90 for an hours parking on what looks like a bomb site then wanted another £1.75 to pay by credit card and all with a very long walk and no shelter from bad weather from terminal to car. (Heathrow T5 is £6.00 per hour undercover two minutes from the Terminal and no credit card fees. I will be speaking to the Tour Organiser and asking them not to use this airport again.

Staff either utterly disinterested or extremely rude. Total rip off with paying for plastic bags at security. I was forced to buy despite having provided my own as apparently it was the wrong size and prevented from progressing through security until I had done so. Biggest problem is rudeness of staff and their attitude to customers in general have never felt this way in an airport before. Will not fly from here again!

I have the dubious 'pleasure' of having to fly from this airport twice a week just getting dropped off is an issue! The airport appear to have fences along the roadsides on a two mile radius around the airport forcing you into a minimum £2 drop off area. If you want to park longer take out a mortgage and don't expect a car park - imagine pouring tarmac onto a ploughed field and you get a feel for where you will leave your car. The staff in security are unbelievably rude which is a shame as you will spend so long in there by the time you get out they will feel like family to you the queues are huge and generally only two lanes are open of which one I believe is mainly for gruff and grumpy staff to use. OK arriving if you are lucky enough to be at the gate near arrivals I envy you the rest of us have to wait 10 minutes for a bus as our arrival always appears to take the ground crew by surprise I mean its a big orange aircraft what's not to miss? On departures this week we sat onboard for an hour as we waiting for the fuel truck to arrive If I could fly from a different airport I would my suggestions on improving the airport? Knock it down and try again.

How can they charge £2 for a drop-off which took all of 30 seconds and charge £2 for a trolley? The drop-off is not even adjacent to the terminal! Even the staff agreed with me it was a rip-off.

What a joke of an airport. Trying to get every extra pound out of you. £2 to drop someone off £5 for one hour of wifi for starters. Just things you would expect 'international airports' to provide free of charge. Security were on the grumpy side but on par with other airports. Got through reasonably quickly as we flew at a quiet time of day. Only about 5 seats at every boarding gate so when flying with an airline with no seat allocation you're sitting on the floor for at least 30 minutes waiting to board to get a choice of seat. Coming back into the UK the EU passport line was very long and the non-EU very short. We were held up a bit longer as non-EU passport holders due to others ahead of us having visa problems but staff worked as efficiently as possible to get through the backlog. In terms of facilities and charges it's not what I expect of an international airport. Bus terminals have more class than this airport.

This is the most horrible airport I have travelled from more than once. My experience include: At least 3 hour delay on the flights especially the Wizz Air flight to Romania on Friday night. I understand that sometimes the flight comes with a delay from Romania but this does not excuse the following: 1) Flight arrives and employees forget to take the stairs so that passengers can come out of the plane. This happens while outbound passengers are waiting in the tightest space some on the stairs down waiting for the staff to open the doors. 2) No matter the low cost airlines there is no line for priority and normal priority passengers have to push their way through. 3) Sending passengers to the wrong gates I once walked for 15 minutes with all my luggage from one side to the other after I had sat in the wrong line for 5 minutes. 4) Staff were extremely rude. 5) Flights are listed on the internet far later than they should so I don't even know I have a four hour delay until I get to Luton. 6) One time it took them 1 hour to take me out of the airport after I had passed through security and my flight was cancelled. The employee escorting me did not know how to take me out and the information desk was sending me to the wrong place to meet my escort. I fly very often so I understand that the probability of problems happening to me is higher than usual but with a bit of organisation on behalf of the airport most problems could be fixed.

Although mid-term car park is advertised as free for the first 30 mins you will be very easily charged because it is almost impossible to return to your vehicle in less than 32-33mins. I have used multiple times the mid-term car park to leave my car whilst taking someone to the airport and only once I've managed to return in 28mins. They should make the first 60mins free and/or allow you to walk into the terminal. I guess it's just a way for them to make easy money with us. Most of the times I've used that car park I was charged because I have returned in 32 33 35 43 minutes. It is incredible. What they are thinking? I mean they don't even have asphalt. They charge you for leaving your car on a muddy field.

On traveling to Dublin this Sunday 27/10/13. I could not be less impressed with the security staff. My wife who has a prosthetic leg had to tell three separate people why the alarm was going off. The supervisor came over and asked again my wife quite rightly pointed out that this was the fourth time she had to explain what was wrong no apology was offered instead the supervisor said 'give her a full body search if you have to' they then asked my wife to expose the foam on her leg so they could take a swab. All of this was done in front of my four children who where waiting on their own at the end of security I to was searched the whole process in my opinion was a power trip for the badly mannered and ignorant supervisor. I fully understand security at airports but at no point should these people think they are not accountable the staff at Luton need to go to Dublin for some training they were so discreet and polite.
