"take your own sandwiches"

(United Kingdom)

The catering options in this airport are dreadful. We dined at the new restaurant in the recently opened extension. £13 for a mezze with hummus, £9.20 for a glass of wine. Someone is having a laugh. Make sure you take your own sandwiches.

"it was better before the refurb"

(United Kingdom)

I am a regular user of Bristol Airport, usually once a month. This is the first time I've used it since the refurb. What a joke. No hope of getting anything to eat, just about got a cup of tea after queuing for 20 minutes. We were told there was a 25 minute wait for food at 3 outlets - what? For a bacon sarnie?? It was better before the refurb. Appalling.

"could not believe the queues at 04.45"

(United Kingdom)

Early flight from Bristol Airport on September 5th 2015 and could not believe the queues at 04.45. The airport has obviously taken on more flights than it can cope with. Even when we eventually got to the security scanners we were treated very poorly by the staff. At one point a female member of staff came to the security scan area and said "this is a mess we must get people through". During the the queue going up the stairs staff were trying to sell express access for £5.00 which I thought was shocking. They cause the issue and try to rip people off to ensure they get their flight.

"long queues on late night arrival"

(United Kingdom)

Passport control under-staffed with long queues on late night arrival to Bristol Airport. Excuse given - lots of flights landing at the same time. Should that really be a surprise to an 'international' airport? Run as if a small town bus terminal. Terrible reflection on Bristol. Taxi wait 45 mins and only one company allowed to operate from the airport. Why is that? Poor commercial practice, let alone customer service. One bus route likewise. On the other hand lots of effort on construction - shops, cafes etc. Obvious bias towards taking money off customers rather than looking after them with consideration and courtesy.

"complete absence of empathy and willingness"

(United Kingdom)

Travelling to Glasgow with my daughter. Intended to leave at 10am for a 1.15pm flight. Daughter mislaid her photo id so we left at 10.25 as still thought there was a chance of making the flight. Unfortunately due to bad traffic we arrived at 12.40. After dropping the car in the express car park where we were told it would cost £50 to pick it up the next day, we ran to the terminal. Easyjet staff told us to take our cases straight to security, which is where our problems began. There was no queue and I explained the situation to the security staff and asked the male supervisor if he could call the gate staff to let them know we were coming. I may as well have been speaking to several brick walls. They proceeded to unpack both suitcases as slowly as possible and were completely oblivious to our growing distress. When I saw the male supervisor, who I assumed had gone to tell the gate staff we were coming, I asked him to confirm he had managed to get them to hold the gate. He simply said it was too late, the gates were shut. I don't believe he even tried. It was a horrendous experience. If we had missed the flight despite everyone's best efforts to help I wouldn't have minded so much but there was a complete absence of empathy and willingness to put themselves out. Give me Heathrow or Gatwick any day.

"Shocking backlog of people"

(United Kingdom)

Arrived to Bristol Airport 2 hours before flight. Shocking backlog of people right down over the stairs to far end of building, took best part of 45 mins to get to first part where you submit boarding pass then another 45 mins to x-ray bag and body search only to be told to rush to gate 15. Flight boarding, lots of people missing flights, shocking slow service. Worst experience I have ever had at an airport. If you are going from here allow at least 3 and a half hours.

"third world effort at Bristol Airport"

(United Kingdom)

Airport could not cope with early morning flights. The queue just to get to security were around 45 mins then a further 30 mins to get into hall. I heard quite a few people had missed flights. Anyone allowing normal time travelling with luggage would have stood no chance. The toilets cubicles in the gents were overflowing, on the plus side the staff were sympathetic to complaints but unable to help. I shall go back to using Heathrow, takes 40 mins longer to get there but better destination choice and more efficient than the third world effort at Bristol Airport.

Bristol Airport customer review

(United Kingdom)

My first time departing for my holiday at Bristol airport. I usually fly from Birmingham. Disappointingly slow checking in and boarding service. Unnecessary body security search which made me feel humiliated. The female toilets were dirty and the variety of restaurants was limited. Many bar and restaurant staff did not speak or understand English well.

Bristol Airport customer review

(United Kingdom)

Still no covered walkway to the terminal from car park. Ridiculously long walk to boarding gate. Why no travelators? Horrendously expensive food. £11 for a basic fry up. Over an hour from plane landing to appearing on baggage carousel even though the plane was only about 50 metres way. Terrible airport unfortunately have no choice.

Bristol Airport customer review

(Sweden)

Unpaved rental car area, long walk without shelter (luckily no rain) to terminal. Airport homepage recommended to be at airport at least 2 hrs before departure. No early check-in, self-check-in did not work with our airline. Charging for trolleys, self-weighing of luggage, and limited wi-fi. Rip-off Intl should be the name of the place! Staff at information point were nice, but could answer my questions. Security staff impolite - words "please", "sir" or "madam" did not seem to exist. Security people at other apts seem to do their job properly without being unfriendly and rude. Upstairs after security check, the place was OK. Of course, that is where money is spent. OK number of seats at gate though, and very clean.
