"very unpleasant experience"

(United Kingdom)

I had a very unpleasant experience on arrival at Bristol airport. I tried to get a cab, but there was 40 minute wait for taxis. I just want to clarify that it wasn't that late (9pm), the airport wasn't very busy (about 5-7 people waiting at the taxi booth), and there was no problems with the traffic. It turns out there is only a single taxi company which has access to the airport, and all the other taxi companies are not provided with any infrastructure to wait or to pick up passengers. I would be less concerned if this selected taxi company is providing decent service for travellers, but such poor transport arrangements at a busy airport raises serious concerns. I think the Civil Aviation Authority should look into anti-competitive practices at the Bristol Airport. I've never seen such suspicious arrangement with taxies at any other airport.

"never waited that long anywhere"

(United Kingdom)

Arrived back from Malta Tuesday afternoon. Only a few minutes walk from plane to the luggage collection hall. Only us, no other passengers collecting luggage. Forty minutes before the first cases appeared. When I asked a member of staff their attitude was that it was normal and I just needed to be patient. Well it may be normal at Bristol but I have never waited that long anywhere in the world. I live in Somerset and will fly from Exeter from now on.

"seems to be more of a money making place"

(United States)

Paying to be dropped off. Car pulled in, dropped us off and left yet had to pay a pound. The distance to walk from car park to departures for people with limited mobility was far too much. Last calls for flights weren't made so people new to the system at Bristol airport (silent airport) missed their flights. Overall not impressed with Bristol airport, seems to be more of a money making place than consideration for customers. No drop off close to doors for disabled customers, elderly or limited ability and forcing people to walk further through shopping areas solely to encourage shopping. Wifi service only free for 1/2 hour when you ask people to be there two hours before a flight.

"no queues but nothing to do"

(United Kingdom)

No queues but nothing to do. I had a very long layover (6 hours) and thought there might have been a beauty/nail bar or something like that or somewhere to watch tv. I couldnt even watch a show as the wifi is only free for 30 minutes.

"can't stand the place"

(United Kingdom)

I live in Bristol and can honestly say I can drive from Bristol and get through Heathrow quicker than I can get through the queues at Bristol. I can't stand the place.

"took one hour for the baggage"

(United Kingdom)

We arrived back into Bristol Airport at 00.40 am on 27th September from Ibiza, and it took one hour for the baggage to arrive on the carousel. There were another three planes arriving within the time we were waiting. The lady in charge did not have a clue, and she just hid in the corner with three other staff members.

"airport is too crowded"

(United Kingdom)

Why has nobody mentioned the luggage trolleys? £2 non-refundable, what a joke. The airport is too crowded and as another reviewer has said, its current mismanagement reflects very badly on the City of Bristol. We arrived back from Bologna in the late morning when there should be no pressure, but the passport control was backed up and out of the door. I was scrutinised by a particularly nasty man whose look said, "Say one word and I'll have you into the interview room" - aggressive, and in-your-face. A disgrace to the Borders Agency (and that's saying something). We've used Bristol twice in the past year but will go from Exeter or Heathrow in future - there seems to be a huge determination here to maximise profits at the cost of customer care. Thankfully I can take my business elsewhere - bye, Bristol.

"staff helpful and pleasant"

(United Kingdom)

Park in the Silver Zone at Bristol Airport and you can catch an airport bus (they stop right outside the doors) and the parking there is cheaper than the Premier parking plus you don't have to lug all your luggage up the hill and across the busy road. As airports are vulnerable places I have no problem about being scrutinized and searched but if you are unlucky and you have to go to gate 10 to 15 be ready for a long walk, because after standing in queues for an hour or so my feet were aching. Staff were helpful and pleasant although you only meet them briefly.

"queues, queues and more queues"

(United Kingdom)

What an experience. We arrived at the airport for a 6am departure and the whole place was in chaos. Queues, queues and more queues. In spite of arriving in good time, we only had time to grab a bottle of water and a quick trip to the loo (very dirty) in the departure lounge and then had to board. Arriving back today at just after noon, we had to queue across the road from the passport hall, experienced a stampede on the stairs on entering which was being very poorly handled and then queued for ages before going through passport control. The staff appeared stressed! Our baggage arrived promptly which was to be expected due the fact we had taken so long to reach the carousel. Another long queue to get to silver zone parking. All in all a very frustrating end to a lovely holiday. In spite of the "improvements" Bristol airport is far too small for the number of passengers travelling through and in no way deserves the title of International Airport. Avoid, if you can fly from another airport!

"glad to fly away from the airport"

(United Kingdom)

I have been flying from Bristol airport for many years and never have I experience such utter chaos as I did on the 4th September 2015. I had booked the car in to the silver zone for 4am and was queuing to get in, I had booked a gold valet to be done whilst we were away and was quoted £24.99 yet when I arrived they told me it was £29.99, I said that I had already seen the price online and the young girl said well that's what the internet says but its really £29.99. Had we not have taken so long to get in to the car park I would of argued my case a little stronger but we needed to get on the already packed bus and get to the terminal. Arrived at the check in desk which we had been queuing for absolutely ages for, got checked in, turned around and saw the security queue was down the stairs and in the arrivals hall. We then queued for security for 1.5 hours, people were missing their flights, the airport staff were not being very helpful to the poor people that were crying as their flight was due to take off and they were stuck in a mile long queue and it was up to the passengers to sort themselves out. We managed to get through 2 minutes before our flight was boarding, we had paid £60 to use the new and exclusive Aspire lounge, so we thought we would quickly grab a bit and coffee, use the loo and run to the gate. Upon arrival to this lounge (the old one is the best, do not use this new one) the coffee machine was broken, there was no hot food and there was only one toilet for the entire lounge to use, this toilet was awful, it was dirty, the tap was scolding hot and the hand dryer did not work. I was glad to fly away from the airport and have a fantastic holiday. I may be booking Gatwick or Cardiff from now on.
