Brisbane Airport customer review

Flown out through Brisbane International recently. Immigration and screening areas way to small for the amount of mid morning flights. 3 eating areas which is poor. Tiny TV screens to check your departure gate info. Refurb going on which is a waste of money. Nothing much else there.

Least helpful immigration staff I have ever come across. Was traveling LAX-PER via BNE with my wife (non Australian) with 2 hours to clear customs and get to the domestic terminal. I cleared the e-chip queue in about 5 minutes however my wife lined up in the foreign nationals queue. 3 staff working with a massive queue at 7.45am. It was evident that the pace travellers were being processed would not enable us to make the connecting flight and I requested two separate immigration staff assist my wife to clear immigration. Both were most unhelpful and said they couldn't assist as if they gave her preferential treatment they would have to give it to others who may miss their flights. I would presume part of their customer service role would be to assist travellers in need of such assistance. I waited another 30 minutes for my wife and missed the connecting flight. Just what I needed after spending 23 hours in transit. The Qantas check in officer was most helpful and said it was a fairly common occurrence due to immigration protocols (read incompetence). Next flight to Perth was full so had to fly home via Sydney with an additional 4 hours added to my transit time. Ridiculous and disgraceful. Will avoid this airport at all costs in the future.

The staff at Brisbane Airport are very rude that includes security and passport control staff. However when looking closer a lot of people stand around just doing nothing. There are very long queues waiting for security checks even if you have a so called express card. The whole situation would need a real good look at to streamline the procedure and motivate the staff to be a bit more customer friendly. I personally have never seen anything like it anywhere else. For the time being I will stay away from Brisbane International Airport.

I found the staff to be rude particularly at passport control. Travelling a lot through numerous airports around the world Brisbane is one of the worst for courtesy to the traveller. Having just recovered from cancer I found it extremely distressing to be put through the new scanner which failed to work first time and had to be reset I had to stand around and wait for the machine to reset for them to put me in it again. A distressing unnecessary start to my long journey.

I have flown in and out of Brisbane International and Domestic terminals several times over the past year. I have found both terminals clean and easy to get around. I also like them because there are plenty of seats and places where you can look out and watch planes and what's going on outside. In both terminals security is fine and not too intrusive queue times for me also were not an issue. For those wanting food and drink there are plenty of places in the terminals to get these outlets in the international terminals as expected are overpriced. There is a train link to get to the city this takes about 10-20 mins apparently and also links with the Gold Coast. There is a taxi rank outside the terminals also. Beware - Hiring a trolley for your bags is a rip off at $4.00 at the domestic terminal.

Brisbane International airport is one of the least efficient in the world I've ever been to. The queue for the final quarantine checks spiralled out past the last baggage carousel - if the staff had been better organised they could have used the set up lanes and contained the crowds and queues.

I always transit through bribane when traveling to PNG. My routes are always WLG-BNE-POM-BNE-WLG Clean big and informative terminal. Security staff at transit areas are sometimes pushy. Aiport has screens everywhere so you can check your flight everywhere you turn. There are power sockets in the transit lounges you can use to recharge your laptop. Currency exchange is ridiculous so I wouldn't recommend changing NZD-AUD for NZD10 I got 4AUD. A big airport you can't get lost in. Generally expensive but good!

I travel often to Brisbane airport from Melbourne on business. I have observed that this airport is outdated and not very clean. The bathrooms at the Qantas and common user terminals look like they have not been cleaned since 1980. I travel to an office building not far away from the airport and pay an average of $20AUD for the trip. Every time I catch a taxi the driver gets angry because I am not traveling to Brisbane city where a taxi ride would cost $50AUD or more. It is my understanding that Brisbane Airport Corporation refuses to establish a short distance queue for taxis to avoid the taxi drivers behaviour which reflects poorly on Brisbane airport.

This was my first time arriving and departing out of Brisbane. My Qantas flight from Singapore was parked at the furthest gate from immigration. Once I reached immigration it was slow and there was a very long queue. Australians were given priority to clear immigration first. Departure was more pleasant than expected. I recently read about reviews claiming that the security screenings and immigration were very slow when I went to the airport it wasn't as slow as expected. I managed to clear the security screening and immigration in 15 minutes. My flight was an Emirates flight EK433 bound for Dubai via Singapore. It was once again parked at the furthest gate away.

En-route AKL-BNE-SIN. Definitely the worst airport in the world. And yes we are very well-traveled people. I can accept whatever reasons the Australian authority may have for the overkill security checks for transit passengers but being random in applying rules regarding what can or cannot be carried on flight were just outrageous. And worse of all no one at the airport could tell us who to contact in order to complain. A tiny airport with meagre facilities and nothing to enjoy. Little wonder why a lot of airlines are offering cheap flights to BNE or whatever flight that uses BNE as transit point.
