"So much congestion"
P Simon (New Zealand)
❎ Not Verified | Horrible airport. Long term parking is at least 1 km walk, might as well use the cheaper Park n ride. So much congestion, hard to manoeuvre around, wouldn't want to be late for a flight, because once you've passed the congestion and passport control you have another couple of km to walk to the gates. The toilets are evil, automatic flush hours off every time you move, splashing your butt. No where to hang your handbags or jacket, adds to the grossness of the toilet experience.

"hope to have a better airport in future"
Siva Batu (New Zealand)
❎ Not Verified | I have worked at many airports, disappointed to say Auckland airport is considered the worst. 1) Departure and Arival at the same place, lots of congestion and frustration to passengers. Should have 2 separate points. 2) Passengers drop off and pick up not covered, how do you expected to get off your vehicle, pick up the bag and have your kids and baby out in the rain, really stupid design. International terminal, passengers have to roll their stuff to the departure point to have someone to pick. 3) I am not sure if the airport operators understand the term “passengers experience”, Changi airport experience is 25 minutes from the time you step off the aircraft to a taxi, that means passing through duty free, immigration and customs clearance and taxi queue, plus all under one roof. 4) Airport is understaffed and too many part-timers and casual workers, should have more energetic and customer driven team. 5) Interesting that most airport’s can be a greenfield or brown field project and don’t go over on 24 months (ones that I worked on) but our Auckland project is about I think 24 years. My two cents comments, hope to have a better airport in future.

"an embarrassment and offensive"
Murray Guy (New Zealand)
❎ Not Verified | Charter coach driver on behalf of Air NZ following a flight cancellation 1pm from Rotorua to Christchurch. I and my employer are unaware of changes to the coach/taxi access layout and booms. Phone inquiry attempts fruitless. Can't find info needed on a website. Staff management staff on the forecourt are less than pleasant, an embarrassment and offensive, to me and my 20 American tour party! I will not return.

"customs experience was shocking"
C Baker (New Zealand)
❎ Not Verified | The customs experience was shocking! Compared to 15 other countries that we traveled through, Auckland airport was the worst! Had to go through customs to catch a domestic flight. Had what should have been more than enough time. Yet there was only two staff on baggage control servicing five queues, and they were more interested in chatting than checking the bags of those waiting to get through to connecting flights. This Airport has no reason for being so badly understaffed, and it seems to be the rule not the exception. Additionally, the customs staff seem to get some kind of satisfaction out of making people wait. Definitely no apologies were made, and there was no visible attempt to avoid conversation to routinely check bags. Overall, the staff were bullish, rude, and incompetent. There conduct made me feel ashamed to be a New Zealander.

"facilities available were superb"
K Lane (United Kingdom)
✅ Trip Verified | This is an airport experiencing extraordinary growth and has quite some construction going on. With all that, the facilities available were superb, new duty free area is truly world class and love the vision for the airport. Well done Auckland Airport.

"The airport can't cope"
Joyce Marks (United Kingdom)
❎ Not Verified | My husband and I arrived on 29th January 2018 from Singapore on SQ 285. We also arrived in NZ Jan 2017. It took two hours to get out of the airport due to queueing in an airport worse than third world. Desks were unmanned at immigration. Biohazard machines caused most of the delay. The airport can't cope with the arrival of one A380. Last year three arrived at the same time. This year two. We thought 2017 was a one off and things would improve. It has not. Auckland airport needs to be brought up to the standard expected of a first world country. Flight times are long. The last thing you need is such a delay on arrival. People were overheating. The place is a mess. I know you must be aware of this. When is something going to be done about it? If you think the conditions and time are adequate, please qualify.

"It is disgusting"
Madan Grama (New Zealand)
❎ Not Verified | Can you please appoint staff to have a word with passengers who use the seats at the gates to sprawl about and sleep on multiple seats leaving no room for others. It is disgusting and while I have no problem taking on such fools myself, I don't believe the airport security will take kindly to my starting a fight at the gate. So please have staff to ask people to sit on seats and not lie down on them.

"great welcome into Auckland"
Richard Bayley (Canada)
❎ Not Verified | We arrived in Auckland on 3rd December 2017 in Emirates flight EK448, the airport was busy and we didn't get a gate and was brought into the terminal in buses. After a long journey we were disappointed with not getting a gate, but the bus driver really made our day. He was very cheerful and helpfull, great welcome into Auckland, queues were bad, but airport was clean, will visit again.

"airport is most unfriendly to passengers"
Andrew Mayo (United Kingdom)
✅ Trip Verified | This airport is most unfriendly to passengers who transit. On our way through from Sydney to Raratonga, we had to walk miles just to go through transit security (Why? What chance had we to buy anything that was not air-side vetted since Sydney?). Then we had to walk those miles back again to where we had started - and we only had 30 mins between flights. Returning transit was much worse. The flight lands at 2am and all of the airport seems to be totally unaware of this. They insist on you going through the International Transfer Centre - but this is closed. 25 of us sit in a cold corridor assailed by the loud Maori monotonal chant (the only thing that goes all night?). You phone as requested and get told different stories - because the first set of assurances dont materialise you call again. Eventually after about 40 mins an unfriendly officious security crew arrive and go through ridiculous procedures for transfer passengers, no apologies. Get through to the terminal - dead - nowhere to get a drink or bite until 4.45. No announcements. No staff. Wifi for 45 minutes only! Who dreamt up that bit of mean-ness? I hope we never have to visit there again. If you want to be a 24/7 civilised international airport act like one! You do your country no favours.
