LGW-MCT return. Both flights on time. Cabin crew friendly and food good. Entertainment is limited
because of the out of date equipment on 20 year old aircraft. Both flights were probably not more
than 25% full so plenty of room to stretch out.

AMM-MCT-AMM Economy class. 737-800 on both flights. AMM-MCT only 25% full. Friendly staff and
good vegetarian meal. MCT airport almost empty (staff fairly efficient). MCT-AMM was a full flight
with good breakfast. Cabin crew seem to be exclusively Asian and seem a bit new to the job. Three
stars seems an accurate ranking, but they could move up to four with some effort (IFE needs to be
improved).

Oman Air last week economy on Cochin-Muscat-Cairo return. The first time I flew Oman Air and will be
the last time. Muscat-Cairo sector takes almost 4 hrs but the aircraft used was old Boeing 737 and
no personal TV screen. They gave us headsets - dont know why because only 1 audio channel was
working. Seats are hard and uncomfortable. My seat did not recline and had to sit thru the whole 4
hrs with my seat in the upright position - complaints to the crew did not help. Being single aisle
the queues for lavs were unbelievably long. In all would not recommend this airline to anyone, the
aircraft are a sheer disgrace - they all were so old they had ashtrays. IFE is the worst I have
ever come across.

BOM-MCT-LGW economy class. Aircraft out of Mumbai was new Boeing 737-800. Food was the same as on my
trip out of TRV. Transfer to MCT-LGW flight a breeze. MCT-LGW old Airbus A310-300 which belongs to
TAP - more comfortable than the old and tired 767-200 which they use on the MCT-BKK route. A good
experience, but Oman Air needs new planes to replace aircraft on longhaul routes.

Muscat to London Gatwick on Oman Air. An old airbus - ex TAP I think - registered in the Czech
Republic. No individual entertainment screens, but as the sound system did not work anyway, I did
not need one! The seats are quite hard and uncomfortable with low backs, like a short haul interior.
The staff were pleasant, but did not seem to really understand their jobs. Everything seemed to be
out of phase. Half the people got drinks and then the meal trolley came out and stopped the drinks
etc. The food was okay. I shall pay the extra and fly Emrirates through Dubai next time.

"Expect More' says the Oman Air ads! I should say so. Flying in 20 year old aircraft leased from
Hungarian or TAP airlines can hardly be more depressing. My last 3 flights have included broken seat
trays, hard seats and terrible sound system. I tried 6 different seats before I found one that
worked with the headphones. Then tried to watch a movie in the 1980's dropdown television some 20
feet away with the poorest quality video. The seats were tired and offered little padding. The cabin
crew were aware of these geriatric craft and must be fed up with the feedback from passengers. Some
colleagues have travelled Business class and said that Economy on Etihad or Gulf was better!
As soon as, or if, another carrier flies direct from Gatwick I will be the first in the queue.

MCT-BKK-MCT. Buying a ticket at the OmanAir office in the airport was impossible and I was told to
buy it at a travel agency because that was easier! Very old and tired Boeing 767 . BKK-MCT flight
they brought onboard two Thai passengers without having seats for them. They were placed in the
kitchen area in the middle of the plane without seat belts during the flight. Will not fly Oman Air
again before change attitude towards their customers and get new planes.

LGW-MCT-LGW. A pleasant flight - good service from flight attendants. The meals were tasty and a
good choice. Good price for tickets. The only thing I could fault was not having my own TV screen
/ personal inflight entertainment.

LGW to Muscat, then after a 4 hour stop on to Bangko. The planes are old as is the entertainment
system, but staff nice enough. A night flight about 7hrs or so and we had a few drinks and managed
to get a few hours sleep. At Muscat the transfer to the airport went ok - airport is small but has
everything you need like duty free and places for food etc. When we got to the other plane I could
not believe how small it was - a narrowbody charter type aircraft. To make things worse we walk to
our seats, and there is a family sitting there - I try to explain that these are our seats and show
the tickets but they just smile, nod and dont speak any english! I ask the FA and she sits my friend
and me in separate aisle seats, miles apart. The flight is one of the worst experiences of my life -
so cramped the entertainment is a joke and im going out of my mind just trying to get through it.
The only real positives are the price, i. I would not recommend this flight.

I travelled on Oman Air on 04 March from Muscat to Delhi. The flight took off at 7am and after 15-20
mins there was announcement from captain that due to bird hit, the flight will have to land - and
due to Fog / Poor visibility at Muscat, the flight has been directed to Dubai. We reached Dubai at
8.30am. Once we were inside the Airport building there was not a single Oman Air staff to assist, we
were asked to move from one gate to other. Only after 5pm we were asked to board the aircraft. There
were around 118 passengers and they were not provided any lounge or food - all were sitting here and
there for any announcements being made - only at 5 pm were we asked to go for boarding. Also the
liquors which were purchased at Muscat duty free shops were taken by Dubai Airport security while
entering the terminal, even though this was brought to the notice of Oman air staff, but there was
no use. Around 7.30 pm we flew from Dubai and reached Delhi at 11.30pm. It was very bitter and a bad
experience from Oman Air.

I flew Oman air London to Muscat. The planes were very old (they still have ash-trays, which
suggests they were in operation in the 1980s). The plane was dirty and I was surprised to see a
large screen instead of personal entertainment for every passenger! And the quality of the picture
was very poor; this received a lot of complaint from fellow passengers taking into account that the
duration of the flight is 7+ hours. I had great hopes for Oman air when I first heard that its
launching direct flight to Muscat but instead I was very disappointed. I am looking to go to Oman
soon but I would rather pay more to fly with another airline than fly with Oman air again.

31 January 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
We flew from Gatwick to Muscat and chose Oman Air over British Airways as Oman did an overnight,
non-stop flight. The only good things about our flight - wasn't full (only 40 people on the outward
flight, and a few more than that on the return, so plenty of space). The cabin crew were pleasant,
and flight times convenient. Otherwise, the planes are ancient and don't inspire confidence,
particularly if you're a nervous flyer .g. safety notices in 3 different Eastern European languages
(therefore, Oman Air must have bought them 4th hand), interference from an antiquated intercom
system. There are none of the comforts that passengers now expect eg. tvs in the back of headrests,
only a large screen at the front for everyone to view. Also, rather unpleasantly, there were stains
on the cushions, which clearly hadn't been changed from the previous flights. If you can overcome
the above, and the plane is only half full, flight times are convenient. Otherwise, steer clear!

A word of warning to you family travellers out there. Myself and my family have just travelled LGW-
Muscat and it was an appalling experience. We booked tickets to fly on Sunday, to arrive at Gatwick
and be told that there was no flight on Sundays! We had been rebooked on the Monday flight. No one
had contacted us to tell us, and we had to get a taxi home and come back the following day. We had
booked and checked three times a bassinet would be available for our six month old baby. On getting
on the plane we were in different seats - it took me having an angry moment to get us moved. There
are no headrest TVs, a film is shown on the main screen - Oman Air decided to show an extremely
violent movie, just a metre from my three year old sons face. In short if you can fly on a different
airline do so.

Bangkok to Muscat. This 6.5 hour flight on a Boeing 737 was sheer torture. Seat pitch they claim to be 31-32 inches, but we measured several
seat locations and found it 29-30 inches instead. One clear recommendation is to AVOID this airline for a long time until they get some new
aircraft. They have jumped into new routes like Bangkok and London, and the aircraft are a sheer disgrace - designed for short haul flights and
not this sort of flight length. Colleague of mine travelled out of London Gatwick, and said the aircraft was a tatty old Boeing 767 that was not
even good enough for Malev Hungarian (that says something!). At least none of the other airlines in the mid-east (even Gulf Air!) have anything
to worry about from Oman Air. They have clearly taken on more than they can manage, since this has the appearance of a real low-cost operation, and
one that has been launched much too early. Inflight entertainment - nothing by way of proper PTV, and seats sheer torture. Add to that
this is single aisle planes, the queues for lavs were unbelievable, and turbulence was also scary. Skytrax, please check your rating, this airline is not even worth 1 Star any more.
EDITOR: Thanks for your comment, and SKYTRAX are due to review Star Ranking for Oman Air early in 2008. We are aware of the product they
are now applying to medium haul routes, and are of a similar view this is not appropriate (certainly in terms of a supposed 3 Star rating).

London Gatwick - Muscat. For the price, I would say this was a good deal - I got the seats I
wanted, and also the special meal without any problems. Onboard flight attendants friendly and
maintained a good level of service. The plane was an old 767, which has central entertainment
system. I would recommend bringing a laptop or a video player to keep yourself busy. Muscat - Dubai
we were served drinks and sandwiches. Transit at Muscat airport a breeze. With such a small airport,
it took me 5-10mins from the plane to the transit desk and then to duty free.

DXB-MCT, Economy Class. There were major delays out of Dubai on the morning we flew, and this caused
a one-hour wait at the gate. The staff were apologetic, but it did take the captain about 20 minutes
to announce to the passengers that there would be an additional one-hour wait. The flight attendants
served the snack and drink prior to taxi, which meant that the flight was relatively uninterrupted
and peaceful. Oman Air is not luxurious by any stretch of the imagine, but unlike a previous flight,
the seats did recline and it wasn't full - so both the long wait and the flight were bearable.

DEL-MCT, Economy Class. I wasn't expecting much from this airline, but
was pleasantly surprised. The early-morning departure from Delhi had
been preceded by almost 24 hours travel from CBR-SYD-SIN-DEL, so I
wasn't exactly fresh and cheery. Friendly and professional service
(though the purser was a tad cool), food okay and there was plenty of
water, juice and soft drink handed out. Mercifully, the 737-800 was only
half-full, so there was room to spread out. One fairly significant draw-
back, though, was the non-reclining seats. I don't think I've ever flown
on a jet before where that was the case. As it was my first time on Oman
Air, though, I was willing to sit back and enjoy the new experience.
With a reasonable amount of revamping the aircraft and perhaps sprucing
up the food a bit, this airline could be a top-player in years to come.

I flew Oman Air for the first time from Doha to Madras via Muscat. The
flight from Doha was delayed by about 45 minutes, due to the late
arrival of the incoming aircraft. An apology was given both at the
beginning and at the end of the flight. Doha to Muscat, the service was
slow, food boring and the FA’s seemed detached. They were cold, but
efficient. Transfer at MCT was also slow, and a tad chaotic, not
surprising as they had to load a plane with Indians. I fail to
understand why my countrymen have to be so complicated. But the service
on the 3 hour flight was good, with attentive and polite FA’s. We
arrived in Chennai early, which was great. The only down side was that
they served the exact same food as they did on the DOH-MCT flight.

SLL-MCT-SLL I have flown this route with Oman Air for almost 3 years
now. Since they have no competition on any Intra country flights they
don't care. The gate agents are not trained to what seats they can give
to certain customers. I recently traveled with my 6 year old daughter
and was given an exit row seat. Of course they have no idea how to
properly board an aircraft (elderly, disabled, and people with children
board first) so trying to remedy any situation like this one is nearly
impossible with over 100 people trying to find a seat at the same time.
Arabic and Asain passengers have no sense that if you wait a minute it
will actually make the seating easier and faster then shoving people
around (that goes for getting off the plane too). I have never flown on
a flight leaving or going to Salalah that has left or arrived on time.
Usually they are an hour or more behind schedule and when you are flying
to Muscat to catch an international flight with a real airline a lot of
times you are rushing to your next gate or missing your connection all
together. If Oman Air is to become a real airline that cares about its
passengers then they need to get some competition. Without that these
people have no desire to better themselves because they know their
customers do not have another choice for flying.

DXB-MCT-BOM in Y class. Scheduled departure from Dubai at 22.35 delayed
by "missing" passengers, who nevertheless were kind enough to show up
one hour late. How is this possible in this day and age? Snack
consisting of tasty chicken sandwich, fruit juice and water served on
short leg to Muscat. Transit at Muscat very smooth, but again a delay in
departing. Seems that flights with lots passengers of a certain South
Asian nationality cannot be dispatched on time anywhere in the world. So
we leave just after 2.00 a.m. Meal with rubbery lamb and rice served,
yoghurt and pineapple desert. Upon arrival at Bombay (only ten minutes
behind schedule) nearly endless wait for baggage (Gulf Air arrived ten
minutes behind us, but had baggage on belt 5 minutes ahead of WY).
737-800 very comfortable, with adjustable head rests with side supports.
I took this connection as no direct flights were available. Since Oman
Air do not serve any alcoholic drinks, I would recommend any direct
flight from DXB to BOM by EK or IC as first option.

BOM-MCT-BOM sector. The aircrafts are clean and new. The crew is friendly , helpful and multi lingual. The children passengers are always
given toys unlike other airlines when you have to ask for them. Its always a pleasure to fly with Oman Air. I would recommend it to business
passengers as upgrades are frequent and the flight arrives in Muscat by 9am - great
start to a business day.

Just flown Oman Air Cairo to Dubai via Muscat. Traveling with my girlfriend and as a frequent
flyer with Gulf Air (they share the program) I got upgraded to Business Class on CAI-MCT sector.
However, my girlfriend did not. I asked if she could and they said no - so I asked if they could bump
up another passenger - they said it was too late, and I would have to take it as it was a
privilege. I do not consider it a privilege when you get split up!
The FA allowed her to sit on the empty seat next to me only once the dinner service had ended.
Oman Air also wait for late passengers. When we initially left Dubai we waited 20 minutes for the guy
in front of us at check in (he was not on a late arriving flight) and he walked onto the aircraft
with Duty Free and extra bags. Consequently the connecting CAI flight had to wait for
us, all for the sake of one passenger who had no idea of air travel.
Food in both sectors was unimaginative and dry, alcohol was served but kept under lock and key and you felt very bad
asking for it.

I have frequently flown on Oman Air. I am an elderly disabled person, and I can assure you that
their attitude towards persons with disabilities is downright abusive at times and inconsiderate at
best. I have lived in the Middle East for 20 years, and service has improved, but to be elderly and
not an Arab is to be humiliated and demeaned most of the time, and the poorer you appear the lest
respect you get. Any request for help as a disabled person invariably gets the reply: "Sit down and
be patient." No one ever makes sure the next person knows your situation and you have to beg
politely at every turn, as if you are a beggar with no rights. If you are tired and in pain, forget
it. You are beneath their dignity to be attended to.

DOH-MCT and back. The planes were brand new B737-700 which meant that seats were comfortable,
and weren't too squishy as seen in other B737 aircrafts. Headrests were nice touch. Food was so-
so, was served a meat pie and apple cake on both sectors, but for just an hour flight I shouldn't
complain. Service was excellent! Not too personal but not too impersonal either. Wouldn't
hesitate to fly with them again.

I flew Oman Air on 24 December , Muscat to Salalah. Aircraft (B737) took off on time both out and
back. We were fed and watered, offered duty free and were shown videos and the flight was only one
hour and twenty! Seat pitch around 31 or 32 inches. All in all pretty good.
