LAN has two sets of prices - one on their English website and one for those in South America. For
example, LAN Argentina charges almost double the price if you book from the UK site versus the
Argentinian site. Furthermore, if you try to buy a ticket from the Argentinian site you will see
that you need to present an Argentinian identity card or passport at checkin or your ticket will not
be valid. The reason is that governments in the region are trying to make flying more affordable for
local people (who earn on average less than 25% of the typical wage in the UK or US)- hence
regulating prices for their own nationals and allowing airlines to charge higher prices to
foreigners. So, do not try to book from LAN's Chilean or Argentinian website because you might be
denied boarding. I have travelled LAN many times and find they provide an excellent service-
particularly within Argentina.

Lima to Iquitos, economy. Lightly loaded A319, no AVOD so can only watch small overhead screens with
no sound for an almost 2 hour flight. Again, the LAN snack pack was offered and refused. Not the
most pleasant flying experience. (Also did many other flights in Peru in November on A319s, no
difference in food offerings or service.)

SYD-AKL Economy. Went to Airport at 3 hours before checkin, staff standing there talking to each
other and ignoring the growing line waiting, about 20 minutes later we finally started moving,
checkin friendly (provided by Qantas), Flight departed on time. The service in the air is terrible -
FAs do not speak very good English, food was terrible, drinks service left something to be desired,
a small glass of wine which I had to keep asking them to fill up. The only good thing about LAN is
the ticket prices on SYD-AKL are good value ($250 AUD booked 12 hours in advance). Would not fly
again.

LA to Lima, Business. New Premium Business seats and AVOD are fantastic – seats very comfortable,
especially in fully-flat position and offer a great night’s sleep – perhaps the only problems are
that the seat mechanisms occasionally lock up and the foot rest extension is a little short for
long-legged guys. AVOD system is very easy to operate and offers a good range of entertainment, but
extra programs, trailers and ads take up too much time before each program. Good meal, but no coffee
offered after meal. FAs tend to curtain off the galley and never show in the Business cabin after
serving the meal – we had to continually chase them down to obtain drinks during the long flight,
and they didn’t seem to know where the drinks were stored. Occasionally we had to help them sort
through their drinks storage cabinets to find some soft drinks. So in general, great hard product
but FA service not good enough for a premium cabin service.

I would suggest that US customers pay the extra fare and fly American. I have had to change my
flight schedule twice and LAN have charged me $1000 for each flight change for two passengers even
though the flight times were comparable in price - that's an additional $2000 on the economy fare.
They do not let you speak to a supervisor and they do not respond when you email them.

In April 2008 I flew LAN from Santiago to Temuco. I bought the ticket online for about $480.
Afterwards, my friends in Chile put me in touch with their travel agent, who bought my ticket on the
same flight for about $200. (The travel agent said I paid more because I bought through the
English-speaking website and they have 2 sets of prices.) I canceled the more expensive ticket at
the airport, and requested a refund. Despite several phone calls and emails, I have still not
received the refund. On the phone, at first their representatives told me they refund had not been
processed but they would start it right away and expedite it. The next time I called, I was told
they had no record of any cancelation or refund request. The rep advised me to email LAN customer
service, which I have done twice. I have never received an answer. I also submitted a complaint on
their website. Although the website promises a follow-up phone call, I have never received one.
Basically, they have completely ignored me and they still have my money. It's not a lot, but at
this point (after 7 months) it's the principle.

MAD-SCL (business, Iberia flight operated by LAN Chile), EZE-SCL (economy, LAN Chile).
I enjoyed flying LAN and recommend it - for those speaking Spanish at least. But I find LAN much,
much better than Iberia. Flight attendants are a thousand times more friendly. Comfortable seats in
MAD-SCL, a little narrow in EZE-SCL but LAN remains a better choice than Aerolíneas.

YYZ-JFK. Delighted to find 40GBP seats for this journey via the LAN website. Journey a joy and
unbelievable value - fresh, airy cabin in a very nice B767-300; excellent in flight entertainment;
easy check in at Toronto where we cleared US immigration; arrived with domestic flights at JFK so
out of the airport in minutes. I can't recommend LAN highly enough for anybody looking for a cheap
fare from Toronto to NYC.

Santiago - Easter Island - Santiago. B767-300, was offered an upgrade to business class on the
outbound journey for 225USD which I took, as it was a trip of a lifetime. Seating very comfortable,
lots of room, quite peaceful cabin, though was the same exact same meal service as economy, with the
exception of glass drinks glasses! No lounge access offered as it was a domestic service.
Return in economy, comfortable seat, large choice of entertainment on "IN" AVOD system, good meals.

Recently flew LAN New York to Buenos Aires in Business Class. This flight was advertised as a direct
flight but in reality it goes via Santiago and you have to change planes, even though the flight
number stays the same. The transit is only 45 minutes which means you really have to rush in order
to catch your connection. Their new flat bed seats in Business Class were fantastic. Food and
service great and their VOD had an excellent selection of movies and tv shows. Much better than any
North American airline!

GYQ-MAD Business Class. Flight delayed in 9 hours, economy class sleeping at the airport with a
pillow. Business class sent to an hotel at 2am and back to the airport at 7am. Looking at the
previous comments the bad thing with LAN is the client service coupled with delayed flights - they
simply don't care. I will skip this choice in the future. Wine and meals are anecdotic, compared to
the service which must improve if they want to keep the client.

YYZ-NYC on 767. Good thing is that it doesn't charge luggage fee and got free sandwich & drinks for
the short flight. But the flight was delayed for 30 min due to seating assignment confusion.

YYZ-JFK a B763. For a short trip between the two cities, definitely the better choice!
Aircraft seemed to have been refurbished recently, nice and clean inside. Food, drink & no baggage
charges made the trip for me - as well as an on-time departure! Ticket was more than half the price
than any other US carrier. Cleared immigration & customs in YYZ which was bliss rather than having
to do it in JFK.

SCL-LAX on direct flight. Actually booked AA but since this is code-shared I was on LAN. 767-300ER,
economy seat, VOD worked fine. Service friendly but robotic - English announcements as usual on
Latin American carriers robotic and hard to understand. Food adequate in quantity and choice of beef
or pasta. Hot breakfast before arrival in LAX, again with choice of omelette or sandwich. Choice of
wines and other drinks free. Complimentary mask/earplugs (got those on other LAN overnight flights,
too).

My daughter flew LAN Chile from Frankfurt to Madrid - was bumped from economy to business and found
the crew nice enough. She said the food was OK - the inflight entertainment looked good but kept
experiencing problems so she was unable to enjoy it. However, the LAN nightmare begun on the return
journey a week later. My daughter became stranded in Madrid after a LAN flight was cancelled after a
three hour delay. She was put up in the Madrid Hilton for the night, which was the one nice thing
LAN did. They told her she would be able to use the phone their and it would be covered, but upon
checking out, she was charged for phone calls because LAN changed their mind about covering them and
did not inform her. She flew out the next day with Lufthansa. The cancellation caused her to miss
her flight back home to Australia. She arrived at Frankfurt airport at 11:30pm with nowhere to go.
Stressed and a little scared she went and saw the people at the LAN desk and asked for a bit of help
finding somewhere to stay. They basically told her to get lost and out of their faces. In tears, she
approached the help desk at Frankfurt airport who called LAN only to have them hang up on both
occasions - once on my daughter and the lady at the desk. By then, it was 1:00am and my daughter was
forced to sleep at the airport because she was reluctant to venture into the city at that hour and
search for accomodation for the night. LAN Chile did not have to pay for accomodation, but to turn
away and hung up on a scared and nervous seventeen year old girl who was left completely stranded in
a foreign country does not say much to me about their level of service. Surely they could have made
a phone call or two and helped her locate a cheap hotel for the night after their mistake left her
with no where to go. I understand that things happen sometimes, but to treat a stressed young girl
so poorly means that me or none of my friends will be flying LAN Chile in the future. She intends to
return to Spain next year and will be finding another airline for her connection from Frankfurt or Heathrow.

Flew round-trip, LAX-Santiago. It was the most uncomfortable long-haul flight I've experienced.
The seats are very uncomfortable. The service offered by the cabin staff was adequate and the meals,
being typical airline fare, would sustain life.

CUN-SCL (with a stop in Havana) in economy as part of a Oneworld ticket. This was probably the best
flight I have experienced. Flight left early from Cancun and Havana on a new / refurbished
767-300ER. The seats are excellent. The recline is superb since the seat bottom also slides forward
when you recline and leg room is sufficient for this. The adjustable headrests are good and the "IN"
entertainment system is wonderful. AVOD with a decent selection. The flight was only 7.5 hours on
the Havana Santiago leg but dinner and breakfast were served and both were good. The cabin crew were
also decent. I can't normally sleep on flights but i managed 5 hours on this one so I was very happy
with this experience. We falso lew on LAN Argentina from AEP - IGR return and the experience was
just as good.

SYD-AKL-SCL-EZE. I have flown this airline in the past and I was disappointed to see a decline in
service. Entire trip on aging A340, the cabin looked dated and seats were a little uncomfortable. In
SYD we were taken by bus to the aircraft and had to climb up the stairs. In-flight entertainment did
not work on SYD-AKL-SCL legs. I noticed that no one in the economy cabin was able to watch movies or
TV, just a few passengers were able to play games. No apology or explanation from cabin crew. The
FA's in our area were grumpy and did not manage a smile. Catering was overall fair if you like ham
and cheese croissants and sandwiches. Drinks were served in very small glasses. Announcements in
English are unintelligible.

FRA-MAD. Very comfortable flight on A340. The plane flies long haul to Santiago and gives more
comfort than one would expect on a short haul European flight. The cabin staff do not all speak
English, which is typical of Latin American carriers. Service good, food good. Flights were
punctual.

GRU-EZE. New business class on 767. Fast check-in at GRU with invite for lounge. Large lounge with
some natural light but rather tired furnishings and limited F&B offering. Priority boarding at gate
and pre-take off drinks offered. However, on this widebody, all pax boarded via front left door so
there was a lot of traffic thru the cabin. The lie-flat seat (2x2x2) was comfortable in recline (but
not used flat on this short hop to EZE). AVOD was extensive with good selection of movies, TV and
music. Meals were served individually from the galley with no carts in sight. The lunch was above
average but not memorable. That said, there was an excellent wine selection with generous measures
offered, sometimes a little too generous. Staff were welcoming and friendly professionals
throughout. I would be interested to see if service levels were of a similar quality on a longer
flight.

We found staff not overly friendly, and service very poor. Our drinks were so small, that you
thought you were drinking from a thimble. The plane was old and tv screens partially worked. Two
toilets were closed due to blockage. Food was average airline food. If a good airline started
flights to South America, it would be goodbye LAN forever. We flew LAN internally in South America
and the planes were newer and much better than the Australia international flight and acceptable.

GRU/LIM/CUZ/LIM/GRU on economy. Leather seats, really confortable. GRU LIM was only 40% full so I
got exit row seats. That means great legroom. Food was ok, didn't impress me. LIM CUZ was packed!
CUZ LIM was also 100% full. Snack box was ok. LIM-GRU was a nightmare! Flight full, terrible middle
seat.

Buenos Aires - Salta. Excellent service at a very reasonable cost. Inflight entertainment (on a
communal screen) despite the fact its only a 1.5 hour flight. Food a snack but quite pleasant and
free drinks. Aircraft modern (new A320) and flights on time. Online booking worked well even though
booked from UK with a UK credit card. Online checkin also worked fine. Anyone who complains about
this level of service on a regional flight has obviously never travelled on a US airline or European
network carrier.

Several domestic flights with LAN Argentina. Very pleasant experience. New and comfortable A320s,
leather seats, good legroom. A light snack served on all 3 sectors. Small delay on the return
flight. After all a good (and relatively cheap) alternative for Aerolineas Argentinas and you earn
miles within oneworld. Would use again.

MIA-EZE-MIA on LAN Argentina in economy class. I agree with the comment about the seat pitch. I'm
6' 1" and found it cramped onboard. This worsened when the person in front of you reclines their
chair. Food was good (choice of pasta or beef) and service by flight attendants was great. Compared
to any US carrier cranky and irritated flight attendants, flight attendants on LAN were polite and
professional. IFE was excellent. Plenty of movies and TV shows and music to keep you entertained
on this 8-hour flight.

SCL to IPC Easter Island round trip in economy class and we enjoyed our experience flying with LAN !
Found out their 767 planes were kind of brand new with a very good IFE sytem. Not to mention the
great service onboard! Nice FA and good meals with no plastic knives or forks, real plates ! We had
a great service from their reservation agents over the phone and surprisingly in my mother tongue
which is French! Good job LAN!
