Premium Business Class NYC to Guayaquil. The flight from New York was fine, nice plane, on- time departure. Return flight a mess. The flight was cancelled and even 30 minutes after it was supposed to depart, LAN had not announced that the flight was cancelled. They delayed check-in until the only other flight that morning (AA ) had left. They refused to put us on the AeroGal flight that left an hour after our original departure but after much to do, bought us tickets on TACA (still out of network but I guess, less of a competitor). I don't think LAN ever planned on flying this flight and thought they could just combine it with the less full 11pm flight. I will never fly LAN and will avoiding flying them again.

Frankfurt - Santiago - Arica, Calama - Santiago - Frankfurt. Good aspects - new airplanes, clean cabin, comfortable seats, leg room a mite above average, excellent entertainment program, reliable baggage delivery, good snacks on domestic flights and on Frankfurt-Madrid section. Average aspect : some flight attendants friendly, others a bit indifferent, especially on long-haul flight, altogether not as service-oriented as flight attendants on some Asian carriers. Poor aspect: vegetarian dinner and breakfast. Although I ordered VLML, LAN seems to assume that all vegetarians not only refuse meat but also all dairy products, sugar, spices and wheat. The result were very dry and bland meals.

SCL-IPC-PPT return in Premium Business. Both flights on time, with cabin crew that surprised me well with their service and care for details. Good meals (tasty lunch and snacks), very good French and Chilean wines. Seats and IFE system that are among the best. Flight attendants speaks Polynesian and French better than English, though.

EZE-SCL-SYD, found staff disinterested. The food for business class is average (lots of salmon) and for people who do not eat fish there appeared to be no other choice. The toilets were not kept very clean during the trip and I felt as though the only thing the staff wanted to do was to put everybody to bed as quick as they could.

Julianca - Cusco - Lima. Flight was all economy layout on A319. Fare was quite pricey. FAs seems there are just doing their jobs. Avoid eye contacts, no hello or greeting. Just being there yawning.

AKL-SYD return. Friendly and attentive service from most of the team. Had a menu with choice of breakfast on way to SYD, good quality meal. On way back a "luxury sandwich" was served without the crew offering a choice (no printed menu offered). On this route an A340 is used, seats go fully flat and are comfortable. Good selection of movies including brand new ones. Generous luggage allowance which was part reason for flying LAN (as I was moving and needed to take a few extra suitcases back).

UIO-GYE. Helpful check-in, on-time departure and arrival. GYE-UIO: Profesional and helpful check-in, on-time departure and arrival. Overall experience was good, clean planes, food ok. Negative aspect: on-line check-in doesn't work.

My first travel experience with LAN, chosen on the basis of these reviews, was very satisfactory. Travelled between London and Santiago, Chile. Attentive service, delicious food and comfortable flat seats meant the trip was pleasurable and I slept well. Iberia section (London to Madrid) was better than the return journey with BA, when food, service and seats were inferior.

New York to Guayquil return. Complaints about the lack of priority handling were valid, it seems they put on the tag but don't load the luggage at the top of the bin. We did get some kind of priority treatment at customs. Value was also excellent relative to first class flights in the US.

My wife and I recently flew to South America with Lan in Business Class and within South America, in economy. In business Class the beds were quite comfortable although the seat could not be adjusted if the meal tray was out. No pyjamas were issued. Food fair and staff attention was reasonable. However, within South America the comfort in economy was poor and the food the worst I have experienced. Most flights were of 2 hour duration and all that was given were biscuits. The worst was from Rio to Santiago via Sao Paulo. The first sector we were offered a sweet, nothing else for 45 mins. We then had to sit for 50 mins on the runway with nothing being offered and no access to toilets. We did fly one sector with TAM and that was much better. The one plus for LAN was that all flight left within 5 mins. of the schedule and arrived on time.
