SYD-AKL in New Biz Class Cabin of A340 (seat 1A). Having flown in LAN Biz Class before their
cabin upgrade, this new cabin is exceptional. New seating is better than the QF Skybeds, much
more room. Service is great, food is ok for the short 3-odd hour flight. Definitely the best
value for money Biz class across the Tasman.

SYD-AKL on a very cheap last minute fare on a fairly full A340.Breakfast standard QF style
fare with very cramped Y seating for this tall passenger. On time arrival into AKL but very
slow offloading of luggage there for some reason. Recommended only if price is right due to
poor legroom & surly staff.

My wife and I flew from SCL to GRU and back. Service was excellent. We had barely seated when
we already had a champagne glass in our hands. Dinner and lunch were most delicate and well
cooked. Wines were excellent as well as on board entertainment.

I flew 8 sectors of an RTW trip with LAN. PPT-IPC-SCL, PUQ-MPN-SCL-MAD. Planes (767s and
A319/320/340s) all clean and look in good condition. All flights on time. On-line check-in
starts 48 hrs before departure. Food not bad, cabin service not bad. No luggage problems,
including on a 4-sector flight MPN-PUQ-SCL-MAD).

SCL-LIM-SCL Airbus A320. I booked online, and it was fast and easy. Also in the airport the
check-in was fast. The plane was clean and looks new. The inflight service is good enough for
an almost 4-hour flight but the food was not good enough, it was only a little box with a mini
cold sandwich and biscuits. The seats were leather-trimmed and comfortable. The return flight
was very similar. The cabin crew was friendly and de IFE with overhead screens was ok.

Sydney-Auckland-Santiago, Ushuaia-Buenos Aires-Santiago, Santiago-Lima, Lima-Cusco-Puerto
Maldonado, Juliaca-Lima, Lima-JFK. All flights on time on relatively new and clean planes.
Good on-demand inflight entertainment on longer international sectors. Food on international
legs very hit and miss, only a small sandwich for supper and a very poor breakfast on the
overnight Lima-JFK leg. Snack on domestic sectors almost inedible. The main drawback were
the flight attendants who apart from one or two exceptions on domestic sectors were all
borderline or outright rude, disappeared in between meal services, rarely answered call
bells and never returned when they did. I was ignored for almost 5 minutes in the galley by
an attendant while trying to get a glass of water and spoken to in a very offhand fashion when
he did speak to me, but better get used to it on LAN, a smile on the staff is hard to come
by!! Almost impossible to get an extra drink, alcoholic or not in between meal services. The
attitude of the staff really lets the rest of the company down and if they were even slightly
more obliging it would make the whole experience a lot more pleasant. I feel my flights were
good value as they were part of a oneworld round the world fare but otherwise the service does
not live up to the high prices charged to book the flights individually.

EZE-SCL. Good web check in service and modern, clean Airbus aircraft. Crew was unfriendly and
seemed tired on both legs, and seat pitch is very narrow. The complementary food and drink is
poor, nothing fresh nor nutritious on offer.

Flew coach EZE-SCL-EZE on LAN. EZE to SCL A320-200 operated by LAN Argentina. Despite this
being a short 2 hour flight, a ham and turkey sandwich along with a chocolate dessert given.
I was also happy that wine was complimentary. For entertainment there were overhead
televisions. The staff was nice and courteous. On the way back a Boeing 767-300 - cabin and
seats impeccable. Again a sandwich and dessert was provided along with complimentary wine.
The entertainment was truly on-demand and entertainment selection was good. The cabin staff
were professional and attentive. My only negative comment was that the bathroom needed a
little cleaning.

Business Class MIA to EZE and back. Their new lie flat sleeper seat was fantastic. Planes
immaculate and flight attendents provided great service. Meal MIA to EZE was disappointing
and not up to Business Class expectations - meal on return from EZE to MIA was great. IFE was
excellent and all around their international service was superb. Also flew LAN from Buenos
Aires to Ushuaia/Punta Arenas to Santiago to Mendoza, Mendoza to Buenos Aires to Iguazu and
then back to Buenos Aires. All flights on one class A319/320 aircraft. Good inflight crew and
surprisingly confortable. I am over 6 feet and was fairly comfortable. The inflight snack
boxes were not much on some of these longer flights and were all the same and a bit
repetitious. One word of warning for those connecting through Buenos Aires AEP, LAN requires a
60 minute minimum connection yet turn their flights around in about 50 minutes. So we flew on
a flight from Mendoza to AEP and had a 3 hour wait for our connection to Iguazu. Well sure
enough the flight we got off from in AEP then flew 50 minutes later to Iguazu as we sat and
waited for another 2 hours for our "legal" connection. Very annoying. They need to change
the minimum connection time to 45 or 50 minutes. It is only an 8 gate airport to begin with.
Not very logical or customer friendly and took away from an otherwise great experience on LAN.

LAX-SCL, SCL-LIM, SCL-EZE in Business Class on Boeing 767-300 - a little bit older type plane,
but clean and looked fine. All flights on time and service quite professional. LAN flight and
cabin crews were quite professional. Sadly, LAN ground personnel is a completely different
matter. First they lost my luggage for two day and then they have no interest for finding it.
LAN is typical third world company. If there is some problem or something which require some
initiative or a little bit of work, everything freezes and they want a customer away from a
counter as soon as possible.

USH-PUC-SCL in Y Class. Check-in in Ushuai efficient. The plane was dirty, to PUC no service.
I don't know why the crew just can't go around with a bottle of water. In PUC we had to leave
the plane. Nobody from the customs service has been there so we had to wait about 20 minutes
for someone who checked our passports. It seemed that there in Chile nobody knew an
international flight from Argentina has arrived. Flight to SCL was the same plane - as dirty
as before). This flight took another 3.5 hours. We got only a small snack box and one drink.
No more food. No more drinks but we could listen to the crew who had a lot of fun before the
curtain chatting and chatting - very loud. Poor and disappointing flight.

GRU-LIM-CUZ return. I've never seen such a cramped aircraft - a small and very uncomfortable
A319 flying a long route like GRU-LIM! Avoid LAN narrobodies, they are awful.

SYD-AKL-SCL-BUE return J Class. For the flight to SCL, we had the refurbished A340, on the
flight back, one of the yet to be refurbished A340s. The newly refurbished J class is
excellent, and fully-flat seats a real treat. Service between SYD and AKL was formal and
unfriendly; the food and beverage service inadequate with two half-sandwiches for a 3 hour
trip. A bottle of water should be supplied without request. Between AKL and SCL, the service
was outstanding. And what a difference a friendly and ethusiastic FA can make on a 10-hour
trip!

GRU-LIM-BOG return in economy. GRU-LIM was 95% full and departed about 30 minutes late. As the
flight time was reduced, we managed to get in Lima on time. I asked for exit row seats at
check in and the lady told me they were all already assigned. And the fact is they were not -
somebody saw that before me and asked a FA if he could seat there, so there it goes my exit
row seat. Breakfast served was tasty. Sound system didn't work well. LIM-BOG was delayed
almost 4 hours due to unexpected maintenance of aircraft. Attendents gave Us vouchers for food
and cards for phone calls. Although nobody likes waiting that much in the airport, I can't
complain about their attitude, they were professional. I had a connecting flight within
Colombia with another airline, and I obviously missed it because of the delay. LAN told me
they were communicating with their Bogotá staff to set me up with another flight. I don't know
if they really did anything for me, because when I arrived at BOG I spoke to Avianca and
explained what happened. Overall, LAN is a great airline, I recommend it.

LAX-LIM in economy class. The service to Peru was average. AVOD was appreciated. Food was
OK, but not very warm. Reserved seat was honored from LAX-LIM, but looking at my return trip
online, the reserved seat has disappeared. I called in and they said "the fare you have
doesn't permit advance seat assignment." They can't explain why I was able to reserve them
when I bought the ticket, and why my outbound seat reservation was honored. Very poor service,
and typical for this region of the world. You can't count on anything until it actually
happens.

AEP-IGR-AEP-USH, PUQ-SCL. Four flights purchased as the LAN South America airpass. All flights
on time in clean, comfortable, new A320's with TV entertainment. Professional crew, efficient
service. Only slight grievance were the snack boxes comprising a selection of dry biscuits and
wafers - and the same was served for breakfast and dinner! A sandwich would have been much
more appreciated. SCL-JFK: First leg of my return flight to Europe. Asked for a bulkhead seat
at check in, or at least an aisle seat, I was told to report to the Gate 45 minutes before
departure for seat allocation were I was given a centre seat - very uncomfortable as I'm very
tall. Ground staff and procedures seemed chaotic. Fortunately I was able to swap seats and
once we'd left SCL all was fine. New 767-300 with PTV's, very comfortable, good efficient
service, acceptable food, time to sleep, on-time arrival at JFK. Overall would recommend LAN.

LAN canceled my flight from Lima to Miami Florida, and then put me on a flight the next day -
only they never booked me a new connection from Miami to Washington. They would only offer
me a red-eye flight or a refund of my ticket, which they claim could take up to 3 months. I
rebooked on Copa airlines, and they were much more professional.

LAN has two sets of prices - one on their English website and one for those in South America. For
example, LAN Argentina charges almost double the price if you book from the UK site versus the
Argentinian site. Furthermore, if you try to buy a ticket from the Argentinian site you will see
that you need to present an Argentinian identity card or passport at checkin or your ticket will not
be valid. The reason is that governments in the region are trying to make flying more affordable for
local people (who earn on average less than 25% of the typical wage in the UK or US)- hence
regulating prices for their own nationals and allowing airlines to charge higher prices to
foreigners. So, do not try to book from LAN's Chilean or Argentinian website because you might be
denied boarding. I have travelled LAN many times and find they provide an excellent service-
particularly within Argentina.
