SYD-AKL-SYD. Seat 3L, 4L. Compared to other airlines on SYD-AKL-SYD, Business class was only
several dollars above economy. A340, modern aircraft. The cabin crew English was stilteed
but they put the effort in. Food nice and they were only happy to ply the drinks. Lie flat
beds were great. Would definitely fly LAN again for the price.

Toronto-Santiago via JFK and then connecting at Santiago to Buenos Aires. The B767 seating in
economy was okay, a little close, but bearable. The economy seats on the A320 to Buenos Aires
had less space between rows - didn't have a lot of room to move my legs. The meals were fine,
but rather small for such a long flight from JFK to Santiago. Flights were on time and staff
were friendly. The flight from JFK had a 70% male flight crew. They were friendly enough,
but one guy, kept spilling every drink I asked for, sometimes on me. They were a little rough
in how they did things. They all could use some lessons on grace and poise. Apart from this
LAN is a great airline that I would recommend.

AUK-SCL business class. Have the same comments as on the outward flight with regard to the
boring, poor quality food, except that this time, being in row 5, I ended up having basically
no choice for the main course as LAN always seems to start from row 1. I've read the same
comment by other passengers on LAN flights. I flew Biz for the bed and that can't be
criticized - LAN remains my choice for comfort. What did annoy me this time was that I was
travelling with my son; we had preassigned seats together, so I didn't think to check the
boarding passes given to us at the airport, but once on the plane, found we had been split up
without even the courtesy of mentioning how that had come about. Still, LAN has for many
years, been criticized for it's lack of consideration for its passengers so this didn't
surprise me. I have to say, the biz class fare is exorbitant compared with routes with
competition. For example, It's the same fare LHR -AUK as SCL -AUK, yet the distance from LHR
is double. Unfortunately from Chile you have no choice but LAN.

Sydney to Rio in business class via Auckland and Santiago. The fare was not much more than Y
class for this time of year, so very good value. IFE good screen, however limited selection of
videos and TV. Meals on long haul sectors very good, on SYD-AKL-SYD poor. Wines good quality
and beds exceptional, used duvet for extra padding and light blanket to cover. Some late
departures. We stayed a night in Auckland, as we dreaded the deplaning in Auckland in the
middle of the night (4am) and herded through security etc. The sectors around South America
in Y very good, new aircraft - a great airline overall.

SCL-AUK Business class 4C. I hadn't used LAN on long haul for a couple of years and I found
FAs had become more amenable. Service was excellent, which can't be said about the food. The
quality had dropped a lot and now seems to equal that of economy class in AF, LH BA. Dinner
was edible. Wine was good, but then it should be from Chile. Breakfast was lousy (dried up
croissant, minute portion of cornflakes and yoghurt) and the coffee was disgusting. I also
made the mistake of asking for it with milk so the FA half filled the mug with cold milk,
leaving the coffee completely cold also. On the good side, the flatbed was very comfortable,
although the duvet for me, was too much - I'd prefer a light blanket. The bed was far better
than AF, LH. Lounge food in SCL was very good, (thank goodness I managed to eat a lot there,
before boarding. To me, the bed and service are more important than the food, so I had a
decent flight and I'd use LAN again for that reason, but they really must do something about
the food, and make their cost cutting somewhere else.

AKL-SYD A340 Business class. Clean cabin, refit lie flats, good AVOD choice. Seat broken and
windows dirty. Overall far worse than outbound SYD-AKL sector. LAN use QF business lounge, no
hot food. On time dep waited an hour for food service, they might as well not have bothered,
no hot food left when FA came to row 5, offered a cold plate instead. Breakfast was inedible
and the worst "full service" airline meal I've ever had including every economy meal across
the Tasman. My priority bag was amongst the last five off the belt an hour after landing and
added another hour to the taxi queue. Crew were only in the cabin for a short time during the
flight, no coffee or tea service other than the lukewarm cup served on the tray. Crew barely
spoke english and disinterested in the J class PAX.

SYD-AKL return. A340 aircraft clean and lie flat seats comfortable with plenty of AVOD choice
for length of flight. Some FA’s had limited English however their charm and willingness to go
the extra mile than made up for this. Food on outward leg (1000 departure) not up to the
standard of other carriers but adequate for 3 hour flight. Breakfast on the way back very
good with choice of omelette or cereals. At under half what other carriers charge for this
route this represents outstanding value for money if you can cope with a 0550hrs departure
from Auckland, and refreshing to enjoy the warmth and hospitality of the crew.

Santiago-La Serena and Aeroparque-Iguazu return Economy. Once on board, service was fine for
these brief flights. I would caution travellers to prepare for chaos outside larger airports.
Check-in can be jammed. Self-service check-in was busted at La Serena. Consequently, I was
diverted to the baggage line to check-in, which resulted in a lengthy delay and being bumped
off the flight. In Iguazu, departure time was changed without notice, security did not open
until after the posted closing time, there was no public address system, and boarding got
mixed in with an Aerolineas flight. I'd like to offer more encouraging comments but it does
appear that this company has a bunch of operational challenges.

Miami-Quito B767-300 both ways. New Biz seats (lie flat beds) are great, and very comfortable.
AVOD was excellent, with a good size screen. FA's professional, friendly and well groomed.
Food good for a 4 hour dinner flight going - and lunch on the return. My only complaint is the
progression of service. I expect in J to receive a cocktail / wine / beverage before the tray
is plopped in front of me. Their service is all at once. Waited about 45 mins for it to begin
- all via carts, then was asked what I wanted for dinner/ dessert/ beverage - all at the same
time. Linen, dinner (everything on the tray at once) and last a beverage choice. When they
passed by me returning to the galley I asked for a refill on wine - and was denied, and told
they would "restock" and return. That return happened in another 45 mins. (with no refills
offered in between) and then only to collect the trays. This could be a superb product with a
beverage service prior to the tray presentation - and someone walking thru while they are
"restocking" to refill drinks. Same exact flow on both flights.

Toronto - JFK. Both ways they upgraded me to an extra leg room seat. Staff on board don't
speak brilliant English, but they made a great effort and it was service with a smile. Really
enjoyed the flight.

MIA-SCQ-PMC-PUQ Economy. Nothing particularly special, the standard of English spoken by cabin
crew wasn't fantastic, and given no choice but to eat a rice meal despite the flight being
from Miami. This was one of the longest flights in my life, having started originally in MAN-
LHR-MIA with BA, but was made worse when I disembarked in PMC to realise that the half empty
flight was continuiing to PUQ - but I couldn't remain on as I was booked on to the next flight
from PMC-PUQ. This was absolutely random scheduling. Wasn't massively impressed with SCQ
airport either, very difficult to communicate with staff when my baggage went missing.

LIM-SAO-LIM on A319. Although the flight was smooth, I would not recommend flying night
flights, since the seats are very uncomfortable. Also, there is only 1 bathroom in economy.
Regarding the onboard service, leaving at 00:40 from Lima and having a snack/dinner takes time
away from a nap.

LIM to EZE return LAN Peru on excellent fare, and 2 domestic flights (EZE-USH, USH-Calafate)
on LAN Argentina. LIM-EZE on an up to date 767, good sized and comfortable seat in economy
class with generous pitch, good in flight entertainment with on-demand video. Still not up
there with the Asian carriers. Flight attendants pleasant but a little quiet and aloof.
Food the only downside as the lunch was pretty bland. Return flight to Lima was similar with
slightly better food but the flights attendants on this flight were pretty inattentive.
Domestic LAN flights were all fine on A320s. EZE-USH was cancelled and we were rebooked on a
flight 10 hours later. They said the plane we were supposed to use had had a bird strike the
night before - not sure why we could not go on another flight earlier as we were at the
airport at 4:30 in the morning, but nevertheless they gave us a hotel room for the day - a
nice first class one in central Buenos Aires with vouchers for breakfast and lunch. And
organized our transport back to the airport.

Business class SYD-AKL-SYD: new seats and AVOD very good, but service not up to standard for
business class. Lunch consisted of two half sandwiches only, and crew disappeared for most of
the flight. On return, the flight was cancelled and, although contact details were advised,
no-one had bothered to advise that the flight - leaving at 5.50 in the morning (ie getting up
at 3.30am!) - had been cancelled. However, the new business class seats certainly beat those
of other airlines flying across the Tasman, particularly those that use old, domestic-layout
aircraft and charge more than double the price than LAN does. I would also question the One
World alliance as Qantas almost on did not want to know me, and LAN rebooked me on Air New
Zealand, rather than Qantas (which would be it's natural alliance partner). I would recommend
LAN if it could lift its reliability.
