Seoul to Paris. They emphasize Excellence in Flight, but there was nothing special about their in flight service. The lounge is poorly serviced. The food is very mediocre and in Seoul, the Skypass Lounge is better than Korean Air. Asiana Airlines lounges is the best. Onboard food is very bad. I noticed several foreigners were not able to get their choice of meals and had to opt for the Korean Bibimrice. On long flight, they are supposed to go through the cabin with refreshments but Korean Air only offers some water, juice and a one time round of shortlist of snacks. They appeared very stingy with the food. The seats are good, and have a better lean back recline than other airlines. That's probably the best. But the variation of their seats makes it hard to predict when you will get a good seat. Also, for flights shorter than 7 hours, you will not be getting a cosmos seat. On these flights in economy, there's lack of entertainment options. Korean put their money on all the wrong things - like uniforms and poor advertising. There's so much emphasis on their fashion and uniforms, but I don't think the management knows marketing very well.

IAD-ICN-PNH return Economy. Comfortable, modern spacious interior; friendly, multilingual crew; excellent food with good drink and dessert selection. Poor points - even through KE was a founding partner of SkyTeam alliance, they do not honor some of the benefits which other members do (ie no upgrades - even though I had a premium seat (but not Y-class), Elite Platinum status, and 200,000 miles in the bank). This makes a 24 hour flight seem much longer when in an economy seat. Lounge access is granted but the lounges are crowded at ICN with limited seating even at 630am. Last poor note, KE does not award ANY miles between the U.S. and Korea unless in Y-class or business! Lots of miles down the drain. Next time will probably spent the extra $500 to fly NWA all the way!

PVG-ICN-PVG. Great staff, friendly and helpful. The only thing I do not like is the food. There is no other option but Korean spicy food. Please have more options!

Business

Sydney-Seoul-Seattle / San Francisco-Seoul-Brisbane business class. The real disappointment was Seoul - Brisbane on the old A330 with very basic seating in business. All other flights featured angled lie-flat seats and AVOD but not the A330? A 9 hour flight surely deserves a decent seat? Cabin crew were friendly, but often robotic. On a couple of the flights there were some great Indonesian / Chinese flight attendants who stood out from the rest in terms of being a little more dynamic and interactive. Food of a good standard, but KE really lacks any variety in its choices - food selections very rarely change, especially breakfast which has always been the same options for as long as I can remember.

SYD-ICN-SYD. Good lounge service but inflight meal was disappointing - food dry and not fresh. Cabin crew not friendly as previous experience with Korean Air. AVOD system was good but loading speed became slow as flight goes. Passenger announcement was poor as they provide Korean, English, Chinese and Malay. English announcement was not clear and takes too long to finish one announcement. Overall, airport ground service is better but inflight experience and inflight meal service is worse than last year.

SFO-Seoul Economy on Boeing 777-200. Service excellent as well as the food. AVOD very good. Stewardesses were flawless.

CDG-ICN Y class. Great staff on full flight, and went the extra mile for everythin. Catering dismal especially the western option - wine was good but only served in glass and topped up once. Doesn't come near to their partners AF two bottle servings! Korean food better but has gone down in quantity. IFE good.

ICN-HAN roundtrip in Y on A330-300. Comfortable seat, decent legroom and recline. No AVOD but IFE on main screen. Food very good but service was a little slow. Cabin crew polite and courteous yet lacked warmth and enthusiasm. A 4-star airline.

LHR-ICN-BNE return Business. All flights on time and good standard of service throughout but found flight attendants a bit robotic and inflexible. Hotel overnight on return leg was very comfortable but why are there no instructions for passengers about how to find hotel desk at ICN at check-in or from flight attendants. A simple printed sheet of directions is all that is needed. Good alternative to Singapore route when flying to Australia.

I often fly Korean Air internationally from USA to China. The ticketing, gate and onboard crew always very nice and accommodating. Like most international flights you need to get your seats confirmed ahead of time, and most discount ticket sellers don't do this for you. You can also put in meal requests. I have found the on board service and food to be great.

Tokyo-Seoul-London economy. Great service on both legs - inseat entertainment well up to standard although I'm not an avid user. I like the way the cabin staff are around with drinks, noodles and snacks. I can't sleep on flights so I find this type of service excellent.

Auckland-Seoul-Moscow. Comfortable seats, clean toilets and food very good. As this was a long flight to Seoul and onto Moscow (in total about 26 hours we had to go through a lot during the flight). Good entertainment. Airport at Seoul was excellent. Second flight was the same story. On an Airbus so there was more space when it came to seats. I wasn't very impressed though when the crew did nothing about a passenger on his mobile phone. However a good experience and will choose this airline again.

JFK/ICN/HKG. JFK/ICN B747-400 used on this route. In flight entertainment was good, except it seems their system has some faults. Whenever I hit the button for text to be displayed in English, it would sometimes display in Korean. Seats on JFK/ICN flight were extremely cramped and uncomfortable for a 14 hour and 25 minute flight though. ICN/HKG was on KE603 - B747-400 used on this route as well. In flight entertainment was the same, but it seemed there was no fault with the system. Seats on this flight looked the same as JFK/ICN but were definitely wider and had more legroom. Service by KE flight attendants was superb - excellent service by excellently trained people! Only issue was the legroom on JFK/ICN, other than that excellent service.

MUC-ICN-AKL-ICN-MUC Economy on A330-200 and B777-200. Very friendly and attentive cabin crew and ground crew. Plane almost empty on the first leg of the journey with plenty of space to unfurl. Second leg packed. Disappointed about the cabin features as there was no IFE on all flights. Seat pitch and leg room acceptable. Food was standard with Bibimbap takes getting used to. Flights on time with a great layover at Incheon International Airport. All in all acceptable for the cheap ticket.

AKL-ICN Prestige Class. Mixed emotions about KE Business Class. Aircraft was a 777-200 with old- style sleeperette (clean, passable, heavily padded with decent recline). Non AVOD IFE albeit sufficient in terms of program selection. No amenity kit, but restrooms stocked with items. Slippers available in seat pocket. FA very pleasant - however, not as friendly or as conversant as MH/SQ/PR flight attendants. Biggest disappointment is food. Choice of Bibimbap, Salmon and chicken for main entree. Bibimbap a novelty but otherwise nothing to rave about. Portions small across the board. Second meal service on the 8th hour of an 11 hour flight. Odd. Would have been more appropriate served 1.5 hrs prior to landing.

HKG-ICN return Economy. Outward bound flight 777. Didn't like the fact the seat formation was 2-5-2. Both myself and partner were placed in the middle with no aisle seat. Luckily flight was not full and able to move to 2 next to window seat. The seat colour scheme was a little strange. I question the colour chosen for some of the seats. Made it look very old. Crew were courteous, although English was limited. Couldn't explain to me what the Korean dish was. Overall experience wasn't too bad as it was only a 3 hours flight.

AKL-KIX-AKL return via ICN Prestige Class. Smooth check in and boarding but the plane was very old B777. The seat was very old and did not have a personal screen and only slightly reclined. FA spoke very little English and ignored me when they did not understand. The food was ok but not up to Business Class standard and there was no pre-flight drink service. Very disappointed with the value and service.

IAD-ICN economy. New B777-200 clean and pleasant, great IFE.! Seat comfy and spacious. The hardware may be 5-star but this airline is never a 5-star due to small things that passengers feel. FA's are polite and seem very robotic. Food OK but delivered, not served. Requests answered but I did not feel I was being helped. If only they had Asiana's service and FA's.

Y class ICN-ULN. A330 aircraft comfortable, adequate seat pitch but no IFE, only main screens. Seats and interior showed some signs of wear and tear. Aircraft had that ancient stale odor prevalent when smoking was allowed onboard. After takeoff, a juice service was delivered along with nuts. Shortly after a full meal with a choice of shrimp or pork was offered along with red/white wine. I have never been on a KE flight when a full beverage service has been offered from the beverage cart. FA's courteous, helpful and professional, some with excellent English skills.
