Glasgow to Birmongham 16-40 on April 20th delayed until 19-25 with actual departure of 19-50. Explanation is that our original plane was sent from Glasgow to Manchester to pick up passengers for Glasgow, then plane refuelled for us. Due to 'technical difficulties', but delays on this route are becoming common, and I suspect it is flight amalgamations due to low numbers (we have waited for passengers from Edinburgh before now). I have yet to return from Glasgow on time. Adding insult to injury, no advice re compensation, and the 18-45 went on time before us! Birmingham to Edinburgh 7-00 am flights, despite prebooked seats and paying extra for first few rows, they are always asking us to move to the back for 'ballast'. Why sell seats at front with a premium if we are not guaranteed them? just money making. I am beginning to detest Flybe and their poor service, thinking seriously about the train.

Southampton to Glasgow. Check in fine, boarding staff not so good in that they did not inform passengers of 20 minute delay. Flight deck and cabin crew fine. Nice flight to Glasgow which, despite earlier delay arrived on time. However, would not use this airline again as we got the impression that everything about their services is designed to get as much money as possible from passengers either through excess baggage charges or in-flight shop. Owing to circumstances at home tried to get an earlier flight to Edinburgh, but was told this would cost an extra £180.00 each! Will book train from Southampton in future.

I took a flybe flight from Birmingham to Edinburgh on 16 April, scheduled departure at 20.30, arrival in Edinburgh at 21.35. At 20.45 we were on the plane, at the gate, without any announcement being made. Then the pilot came on the tannoy and said that instead of flying to Edinburgh we are going to fly first to Cardif to pick up passengers from a Cardiff to Edinburgh flight which had technical difficulties. As a compensation, said the pilot, flybe was going to offer us one complimentary soft drink. This bit was particularly insulting: dividing the price of their soft drinks by the extra hours we spent on the plane means that flybe values its customers time at about 50p per hour. This soft drink was distributed on the Cardiff to Edinburgh leg of the flight. We arrived after 10pm in Cardiff and there were no more than ten passengers who boarded the plane to Edinburgh which makes me suspect that due to low passenger numbers flybe simply canceled the flight Cardiff to Edinburgh and diverted another plane to pick them up. We arrived in Edinburgh after midnight. With all the stress and the great delay, the crew still found time for an in flight perfume and junket sale - but I assume this is mandatory for them. I will never fly this airline again.

Edinburgh to Southampton with a cabin sized suitcase with no problems from pleasant check in lady. Unfortunately the return journey was not as easy or pleasant as was informed that my cabin baggage was to large by 2cms and that it would have to go as hold baggage and would charge me £13.00 for the pleasure. Another way to increase profits I suppose. Possibly looks cheap but watch out for hidden charges.

Newquay to LGW return. The fare was competitive as long as you avoid the additional charges. The aircraft on this route is a Dash 8 Q400 which was clean and bright. The outbound flight was on time with an efficient cabin crew, although the flight was less than half full. The return flight was full, flight left late due to delayed boarding caused by the seething mass in LGW South terminal. Once again the flight was pleasant enough although the food choice developed by a celebrity chef did not inspire you to buy. The FlyBe website is easy to use although on-line check in is not available ex NQY. The downside was the £5 airport development tax charged at NQY by the airport operator, in addition to all the other taxes. Healthy competition on a previously high fare route.

Regular traveller between NCL and SOU on Q400 Dash aircraft. Flights virtually always on time, and preassigned seats are a Godsend, preventing the "Ryanair Crush". Check-in at NCL is rapid (if you use fast drop) but sadly at SOU not as quick - though this is more of an airport issue. Legroom is not wonderful, but flights on Q400 are short enough that this is not a major issue. Staff are friendly and polite and usually quite happy to accomodate any requests. They do like you to sit at rear of plane for takeoff/landing due to size of aircraft.

Man-IOM. Checked in for the 19:55hrs flight into the departure lounge. The flight display suddenly said information at 20:30hrs. No explanations. At 20:30hrs announcement made that the flight was cancelled. I collected my checked bag and was surprised to see further passengers who had just been brought back to MAN after circling the IOM for 2hrs due fog. Both flight passengers sent back to customer service to rebook. The agency staff do their best but you get what they can offer - in my case a flight the next day at 17:30hrs - no use when the business meeting is in the morning. why they checked us in or failed to mention they already had a flight delayed due fog is very poor leaving me with no chance to make alternate arrangements. As previously said when things are normal, fine - when not, tough! Its such a shame airports like MAN are now riddled with this type of airline operation thats practically useless if you need a quality service to get you somewhere.

LGW-JER-LGW - hate this airline. Check-in slow, queued for 30mins at both LGW and JER which is as long as the flight itself! Booking process usual tedious affair, insurance charges, baggage charges, seat selection charges and credit card charges. Flight cost was £159 total which was not it unfortunately - then had to pay 3 kilos excess baggage which cost £30 each way. Nothing to eat or drink without paying another £5 each way. All in total was £234! Next time I will go BA - as the BA fare was only £12 more plus you get 23kg baggage allowance no ridiculous extras charges and you still get a cuppa and a nibble! The only flybe highlight was the plane which was new and on time. In summary if your going to JER go BA or prepare for the worst and for your wallet to take a continual hit.

Manchester-Edinburgh. In Manchester for a business meeting, travel arranged by company, with Edinburgh to Manchester flights with BMI and Manchester to Edinburgh with flyBe. Meeting finished early so we enquired at the airport of the possibility of changing to an earlier flight, and were told this would cost an additional £99 each, how this is justified I have no idea since we were not travelling with any luggage. We used online checkin, so moved through to departure gate. Flight due to leave at 19.40, boarding gate to open at 19.10. At 19.05, tannoy anouncement to say the flight is delayed to 21.30, no explanation given. After enquiring at the customer service desk, we were told by a girl with zero customer service skills that it was unlikely the flight would in fact leave at 21.30, as the plane was grounded in Edinburgh due to fog. At 21.10 the board changed to estimated departure time of 22.50. At this point we were given refreshment vouchers, which were next to useless as at this point most of the cafes and shops were closed. we finally boarded the plane at 23.15, with no apologies from flight crew. We were told that due to heavy fog in Edinburgh, the plane would make "a couple of attempts to land" and possibly divert. After a flight during which time I didn't see one flight attedant, the plane landed in Edinburgh at 00.25, with not a trace of fog to be seen. We were delayed in reaching the gate as the pilot had to "run tests" on some sort of sensor on the propellor. This was my first flight with flyBe, and considering the negligible difference in price between this and the great service I received from BMI on the way down, I will never be using flyBe again.

BHX to HAJ. Delays at 8 out of 10 flights. Even more upset when delay was shown up just 5 min before scheduled departure so you become locked in the security area. When you call to find out what caused the delay you'll get harsh answers. Unfortunately this is the only airline I can book (according to scheduled dep and location of the airport).

I had booked and paid for one hold bag, but found prior to the flight that I did not require this, so, of course not even daring to assume that a refund would be an option with this pathetic airline, I enquired if a voucher, or credit would be allowed, as I am forced through the monopolising of flights from SOU-BHD, to use FLYBE often. But surprise, once they've got your money there's no way they are going to part with it. So, "It's not our policy", was the usual, helpful approach to looking after their customers. Thanks for nothing FLYBE.

Alicante-Southampton. Check in easy, pleasant flight that departed on time, and arrived slightly early. OK flight attendants, but poor selection of drinks and snacks. But the flybe website is a shocker. It's not very well designed, and playing the Ryanair-style cat and mouse game with insurance, seating, and baggage options is just tedious. Even ticking 'no' to all those boxes still results in a much higher fare than first indicated. What's wrong with a bit of honesty and transparency in the booking process?
