LHR-ADD-LHR. Good with the exception of a very old 757 with an uncomfortable seat and broken
armrest. The service on-board was as good as any other reputable carrier. ADD-LHR: same old 757,
most check-in staff dreadful & have no clue what customer service means but not all. I did come
across to an incredibly smart lady who helped a lot as the flight was overbooked and we happened to
be three of the four who did not get a seat on the scheduled flight. I can not see any reason why it
takes an Airline three hours to work out their flight is overbooked and relay the information to
their passengers. The chap who was claiming to be the man in charge of the check in desks kept on
saying he will sort something out & suggested we take a seat. The fact that we had a reconfirmed
ticket and a two year old child with us did not make any difference at all. I will give ET the
benefit of the doubt this time as it is my national airliner. ET, please note the necessity of
upgrading your aircraft to a decent standard is a major issue as most fellow passengers agreed to this.

We booked our tickets on the web. As it was a stop-over flight (get in Addis at 21:00 and leave next
day at 11:00) we contacted the Ethiopian office to find out if accommodation will be provided in
Addis and is included in the airfare. We were told that this was the case. Upon our arrival we were
charged US$20 per person. On my friend's return trip, he was charged US$50 for the exact same hotel!
The shuttle to the airport never came, having to walk to the airport and he almost missed his
flight. On my return trip, I received a hotel voucher and had to pay nothing. 3 different
arrangements to the exact same flight!

Business class from Dubai to Addis Ababa and on to Lagos. The plane was an older plane, business
seats were not much larger than economy. They lost my luggage and that means you can kiss you stuff
good-bye and forget any compensation.

Business Class: Kigali-Addis Ababa-Dubai. Older interior but a very comfortable couple of flights.
The flight attendants were extremely pleasant and present in cabin. The meals were decent, I've had
better but I've also had much worse. Check in at Kigali was pain free as was disembarkation at Addis
and Dubai. In Addis, they had a separate transfer bus for Business Class Passengers and we were in
the terminal within 5 minutes of landing. The lounge at Addis was also very pleasant with plenty of
food and drink on offer, dim lighting which allowed for a nap, and internet access.

TLV-ADD-DLA-return. On time service. Smooth check in. Half empty plane on 1st leg so could stretch
out. Entertainment system leaves much to be desired. Decor worn and dated. Staff friendly and
helpful. Meals and liquor adequate. Not sure that travelling business class would be worth it. On
the whole a decent option but they really could redo interiors on some of their older aircraft.
Airport staff can not change your ticket though. That has to be done through the ticket office.

JNB-ADD-BOM. JNB-ADD flight 50 mins late, had to catch the connecting flight to Bombay within 40
mins. ET made an arrangement for not missing the connecting flight and was relieved after boarding
into ADD-BOM flight. Food good, good supply of drinks, overall nice experience. Need to work on
Entertainment.

London Heathrow to Kigali via Addis Ababa. The decor in most of the planes is a little tired,
although the plane from Addis to Heathrow on the return leg was modern - service and food were
excellent. My economy class flight with Ethiopian was around £200 cheaper than the nearest non-
African competitor, KLM, and I find it very hard to believe that it would have been worth me paying
extra to travel with a non-African airline. An added bonus for me as someone who has had their
luggage not arrive with 3 different airlines previously, on return to Heathrow my bags arrived
within 5 minutes of reaching the carousel. I would definitely recommend Ethiopian as a great way of
getting to Africa.

We paid for our tickets 5 months in advance through E Bookers, London-JNB, and found out later that
it was not the cheapest option, Ethiopian Airlines changed our flight details 3 times as well as
added an extra stop over and 5hrs to the return trip that they would not change and we could not get
a refund. The system was down at check in and chaos, inflight entertainment was poor and all our
luggage has been lost. 24hrs later and nobody can tell us where they are and I have been waiting 45
min on their help line. I will never fly Ethiopian airlines again.

FRA-ADD return. At first the direct flight was cancelled and new departure time changed three times on
the departing day. With three hours delay, we started to ADD via Stockholm-Arlanda - not really on the
way. Fair looking ex Sobelair 767-300 has seen better times - luckily I was upgraded on Cloud Nine
because the flight was overbooked. Friendly service with good meals and plenty of space, cabin and
restrooms were looking a bit old, poor IFE, no personal screens. Back to FRA was economy on a newer
767-300 : space and meals were okay, leather-seats, restrooms badly maintained, but all in all it was
okay. I would take ET again and give maximum three stars.

EBB-ADD-BKK return, Cloud Nine upgrade at airport. The price is worth it ! $1200 return for Cloud
Nine (Business class) from Africa to Asia! Lounge in ADD is very nice, similar to that of any
Business lounge. Layovers at ADD are lengthy, so this is nice to have. Priority boarding and baggage
drop. Friendly staff, full of smiles. Cabin old but clean, neat, and seats lay nearly flat. Food
was in good amount and great quality, although served at 1am on the return flight from BKK. Dinner
service takes over 1.5 hours -a bit long and late. IFE average to good with some recent movies, but
being able to get a full night sleep overnight was a success on these flights. 4/5 stars in my book!

Bangkok to Bamako., I was convinced there was an error with the online
pricing - their Business Class was cheaper than -other airlines Economy
class options. Although the aircraft were a little old, I have no
complaints about the service onboard. Food and Drink was plentiful. Not
quite Qatar, Thai or BA business class but at the end of the day all I
wanted was a comfortable seat. The staff do make a genuine good effort
and that is nice to see nowadays.

DXB - LUN was nothing special. I choose to fly ET because the rest of
the airlines from DXB were fully booked. Checking in procedures are not
followed neither are queues maintained. Baggage allowance on ET is great
but people take advantage of this; especially business men and women who
carry 20 bags and claim to cover for the extra kilos makes checking in
process longer than normal. Cabin Crew are great and polite. Planes -
very old and dirty, hot temperature in side, thus making flying very
unpleasant especially if one is doing a long trip.

Business Class from Washington, DC to Dubai via Addis. Chose ET because
of low fair and somewhat convenient for this particular trip. One will
not mistake this for Singapore Air, BA or Emirates, but it was not bad.
ET simply does not know how to pamper the way other airlines strive for.
All four legs were 767's; three had power ports, so the mediocre IFE
wasn't a problem as I had computer with DVD and could work. Planes clean
and in as good condition as any 3- or 4-star airline flying to Africa.
Seat pitch as large as any non-bed-type seats. Food was consistent, but
not exceptional. I ordered one meat dish where the beef was too tough to
eat, but otherwise unimaginative menu was acceptable. The flight from
IAD to ADD stopped in Rome to change crews and re-supply and the food
improved a bit from Rome (certainly the bread was better). Crews were
generally attentive, some more than others. Only one chance to get a
drink other than during the meal (unless you ask). In two legs the pilot
walked through the cabin to greet us. Addis airport was fairly new, very
clean and bright and open. Business class lounge spacious and
comfortable. Ground staff extgremely nice to all passengers. Boarding in
Addis a bit of a scrum, but ET cleverly uses skinny jetway as a way to
heard wide mass into single line before taking boarding passes. ADD is
not very big, and transfer is extremely easy. However, they did manage
to loose our luggage in a 2 hour layover when the bags only had to move
100 yards between planes. Judging by 90 minute wait to get all luggage
off plane at IAD, could be that the hold was too full for our bags.
Summary based on 1 RT: Great economical Business Class alternative if
style doesn't matter as much to you, particularly traveling to Africa,
especially if you are an experienced business traveler. Bring computer
or DVD player if you need to be entertained. Bring snack bars if you get
hungry easily and water if you dehydrate easily.

Passengers hand luggage should be checked. Some passengers carry as
much as 4 bags preventing others from getting a place for their bags. I
was on the flight from India to Addis on 8th December 2006 and from
Addis to Accra on 9th December 2006. I was asking myself why passengers
should rush to board. I got to know the answer when I boarded, there was
no place for my bag, space under the seat too was occupied by another
passengers bag, so had to put it on my lap till I reached. I was asked
to wait for a while before giving a seat because my seat was occupied by
the cabin crew. The question I asked myself was, dont these people
reserve seats for their crew, why should I be asked to wait till others
sit before knowing which seat is vacant to be given to me. I reached
Accra only to find the zipper of my baggage destroyed and the bag
opened. A form was completed by the lady on duty and a copy given to
me. I didnt know of the procedure, she only told me to take the bag to
the ET office later with the form. I was told no compensation will be
given to the few stolen items except for the bag because it was not
stated on the form. Why wasnt I told earlier at the Airport?
I have been in association with ET for sometime now, most of the
reservations we make in our office are by ET, not less than 60
passengers every year and know it to be one of the best airlines but my
recent experience have left me with disappointments.

I recently chose to fly Ethiopian with my family to Uganda. Telephone
staff were always polite and helpful. However, because of fog at
Heathrow and either a lack of training or poor visibility landing
instrumentation, the flight was first delayed and eventually cancelled
causing a great deal of dissatisfaction amongst the passengers. The
biggest problem was lack of hard information and as a consequence there
was a great deal of rumour and speculation. When the flight was first
put back to 1000 on December 21 we were asked to check in at 0730. We
were there but where were the Ethiopian staff? Eventually the flight was
cancelled all together at 1400. After a great deal of argument the
manager agreed that we were entitled to a full refund and issued a
letter of confirmation to those present. How ever trying to get through
to the reservations office proved impossible. When you got through you
were put into a queue but when you reached the head of the queue nobody
answered the phone! Will we get our money back? Only time will tell.

Stockholm-Addis. Good check in with pre selection of seats in Stockholm,
good food on the flight to Addis, old plane, to hot temp, dry air in
cabin same thing 2 years ago, not possible to adjust seats my own seat
and for several passengers. Not much room for legs (I am 185 cm long)
difficult to sleep and rest, nice crew but they refuse to hand out the
complaining form. Arrived in time in Addis, short waiting time for
luggage. Addis-Johannesburg-(Luanda with TAAG) - No plane, delayed more
than 3h, missed one important connection in Luanda. Very nice and
helpful ET personnel changed my ticket to next day direct to Luanda and
gave me transport to Hilton for overnight stay. Addis-Luanda Helpful ET
girl in Cloud 9 lounge let me use internet for my delayed Visa, the only
working internet at the moment. Flight delayed approx. 1/2 h due to late
cargo, Captains word but passengers came onboard very late, living
cargo? New plane, nice and helpful crew did not hand over complaining
form, I was helped first after contact with leader for cabin crew who
respond like a pro. Good food and vine, very narrow seat with room for
legs, good movie and music channels.

LHR-ADD on an old but safe-looking 757-200, ADD-JRO on a fairly new
737-700. Outbound trip great, both flights a bit late, easy connections
in Addis. Was upgraded to Business Class from ADD-JRO; very comfy
flight. Return trip ADD-LHR with a stop in Rome on a 757 which didn't
make the good appearance as on the outbound flight. Seat cushions loose,
dirty carpets. 4 star catering outbound, 2 star on return flight.
Entertainment 1 star. Overall good value for money; a lot cheaper than
flying KLM to JRO. When the 757s are phased out, an airline to
recommend.

London to Lusaka with my family, boarding all flights it was great
to see passengers with children are given priority. The flight was pleasant and cabin crew friendly,
food and wine was nice, we arrived at Addis on time but had a 6 hour delay for our connecting flight
to Lusaka - great start to our holiday sitting at the airport most of the day and another 5 hour
flight to Lusaka!!! On our return we had one night stop over arriving back in Addis from Lusaka 5 hour trip but 3 hours
waiting to be transferred to a hotel which makes the trip very tiring! I think they need to
improve on transit passengers they know which flights they are dealing with and should do so ASAP
not keep people waiting for 3 hours late into the night. I was very irate and my young daughter
tired too!

JNB-ADD in business class. The seats in the business class are very old
and the leg rest was not functional. The meal was OK but there was no
red wine in the flight. In spite of checking for my luggage to be
transferred at check-in at JNB, my luggage was left behind. I was on a
business trip to Addis and some of the documents were in the luggage
left behind. Is it an isolated incident or a norm that you off load
luggage when flights are full?

DAR-ADD-LHR returning LGW-ADD-DAR Cloud Nine (equivalent to business
class). Had a layover in ADD at the Sheraton and next day a horrible 757
ADD-LHR. The IFE is old, seats are poor and don't lie flat, food was
nice. No priorities for business class passengers. Our luggage was last
to arrive in LHR. Return leg, No lounge facilities for Ethiopian at LGW
airport. Real disaster. 757 this time around was better to ADD. Good
food, below average IFE. Ethiopian needs to work hard to meet customer
satisfaction. I didn't feel that I was flying business class.

Douala-Addis-Cairo flight. We arrived Addis at 11 pm. The connecting fly
was at 10 am. It was a good surprise to be taken to a hotel during the
transit time. I was used to Kenya Airways who just abandon you at the
airport while waiting your connection. The flight was very nice with
B737-700 (ADD-CAI-ADD) and B767-300ER (ADD-DLA). Very modern planes,
good food, gentle crew. I recommend this airline.

I agree with the previous opinion that Ethiopian's 757 fleet needs to be reformed. Although these
are good, reliable planes their cabins are now sub-standard (no personal videos). On the Bamako
route ET alternates 767s and 757s depending on load factor (I suppose). The 767s are generally good,
sometimes with personal videos in coach. Food remains well above average in quantity, average or
slightly above average in quality. Cabin crew polite and friendly. Flights usually arrive right on
time or earlier. However ET needs to consider non-stop flights between Bamako and Addis to stand
competition with Kenya Airways who is opening direct service to Bamako and Dakar (KQ512/513)
starting July 1st on 73Ws. Otherwise Nairobi will be a quicker connection to East Africa and Asia -
and the though track & field rivalry will extend to the air.

Some of their aircraft are quite elderly -specifically the 757s on the LHR-ADD-LHR routes. These do not have
personal video screens, even in business class which is quite unusual nowadays.
A flight from Hong Kong to Addis in Cloud Nine (business class) was a delight, a brand
new aircraft with personal video screen, good food and free-flowing Moet champagne. The
business seats do not fully recline but are reasonably comfortable.
Sheba Miles is a particularly generous rewards programme, and you can upgrade using relatively few
points. ET cabin crew are normally polite and friendly, although female Ethiopian colleagues have told
me they are less attentive to African women unfortunately. The ground staff at ADD, especially on
the baggage desk, leave a lot to be desired and rather let the airline down.

ET from IAD (Washington DC) to Addis Ababa and then onward to Accra. The flight was a
joy. Service was amazing. On the negative side the check in was slow and security lines were long.
Unlike some airlines ET boards business class last and that was unusual.
Since then I have flown them several times between Accra and Addis Ababa and the latest out of
Frankfurt. The IFE on the 767 varies depending on the aircraft some have PTVs some do not. Check in
is great in Addis Ababa. Food is generally great however, I have had one meal that was less then par out of Addis.

I recently had the extreme misfortune to travel from Dubai to Lagos on Ethiopian Airlines. My heart
sank as I approached check in to see that most of the other passengers were Nigerians determined to
take as much baggage as possible with them. The "bags" were more like bales and each had about two
or three and some passengers had many more. I had one small bag. After check in in which took two
hours I observed that these same passengers were now hell bent on buying as much duty free as
possible. The result was a severe lack of space for hand baggage and this actually caused a fight
in the cabin. On arrival at Lagos I stood for two hours at baggage claim watching endless "bales"
being offloaded, only to discover that my one small bag was missing. It took five days and several
visits to Lagos airport to recover my bag. On one occasion the baggage clerk said he "was too tired
to look for my bag, and could I come back tomorrow".

757 from LHR to ADD return in November 2004. The flights were on time, the crew friendly
& courteous and the food really good. The inflight entertainment was the same in and out and viewed
on a screen in the aisle. As one leg was overnight, this was not a problem as the seating was
comfortable and easy to sleep in.

I recently flew Ethiopian Airlines in Business Class between Frankfurt and Addis Ababa on a B
767-300. On the FRA-ADD leg the aircraft was new and the seats were rather comfortable, with a
fairly good entertainment system. On the return leg, the aircraft was a little older and had no PTV.
The cabin crew was charming, friendly and efficient on both legs. Some improvements are needed in
two areas : boarding procedures at ADD airport and quality of the food. Furthermore, both flights
departed 90 mins late, but passengers were informed on both occasions. One big plus is that the
baggage allowance is a whooping 50 kg!

Has very good service but from time to time it looks declining on the routes LHR-ADD-

or better aircraft.

I have flown Ethiopian Airlines several times from Lagos to Johannesburg and prefer it above
other airlines. In flight service is excellent, ground service is good, but they need to
automate the check in procedure in Lagos with scanners and other time saving equipment to speed up
the procedure (but everything in Lagos is slow).
I wish they would add real Ethiopian coffee to the menu and have Ethiopian Ground Coffee (Abyssinia
Gold) on duty free sale in flight.

I recently flew economy on Ethiopian from Bamako, Mali to Arusha, Tanzania. Overall it was a very
good experience: warm and dedicated crew, pilots that care about passengers communicating regularly
from the flight deck, enjoyable and abundant food, well-maintained planes and timeliness. On the
onward leg from BKO to ADD we were served 1 full breakfast and 1 excellent lunch. The plane was a
neat 763. Only fault I could find was the lack of contrast on central video screens. In-flight
entertainment program is of fair quality. During transit time ET gave us vouchers for dinner at
Addis airport - excellent food again, with different Ethiopian dishes. Another complete dinner was
served between Addis and Kilimanjaro (JRO) onboard a brand new 73W. Return trip was a bit longer
with stopovers in Nairobi, then Douala and Accra with an older 757 on the ADD-BKO leg, but food was
again above average and crew showed us a high level of professionalism handling excess cabin luggage
on a packed flight. ET takes security very seriously. Given the scarcity of direct flights between
East and West Africa, and with the quick overnight connections in Addis I highly recommend flying
ET. I subscribed to the ShebaMiles program and will fly ET from Bamako to India soon - at a lower
cost, quicker and with better service than with other carriers.

The flight arrived at it's destination on time. I used to fly Lufthansa from Dallas to Addis Ababa,

businessmen, this one has good photography, interesting historical information, articles on things
other than the latest powerpoint projectors!

I would NOT recommend Ethiopian Airlines from Newark to Addis, especially in the summer months. The
flights are filled to the brim, the passengers are a bit on the difficult side, and this results in
tardiness, luggage problems, etc. Also, they've significantly reduced the seat pitch on these
planes.

I travelled with Ethiopian recently from London to Lilongwe; Malawi. Whilst the stopovers in both
Athens and Entebbe were inconvenient, airside service was superb. Ethiopian made a concerted
effort to keep everyone happy.
I found the menu's unusual and quite tasty. Always fresh, the only comment I have is that they
really should work on the freshness of their bread.
As for punctuality they were excellent, we arrived 15 minutes early at each point.
This in addition to their very courteous staff made my flights with ET very enjoyable.
I would recommend them to anyone.

I travel regularly between Accra and Addis Ababa in business class. The cabin crew (100% female)
are immaculately turned out in dark green suits, and one of them invariably wears traditional
Ethiopian costume. All speak good English as well as their national language,
Amharic. The
animated characters in the highly-professional bilingual security video are a delight to watch.
Full-length movies are not shown but short documentary films on natural history subjects - often
amusingly presented - provide entertainment. During the flight, the crew keep the cabin impeccable;
items dropped on the floor are either handed back to their owners or consigned to garbage, as
appropriate. The food is attractive and appetizing, but there is scope for improving the variety of
the main course. Flights are usually punctual and often arrive early at destination.
