BHX-CDG-DXB return. Flights on time and crew friendly. Entertainment on 777 was adequate for the 7 hour flight. Transit in Paris is a joke. Leave more than 2 hours if you want to be relaxed as we had 2 hours and almost missed our connections both times. I was not impressed with the fact that our flight from DXB-CDG was only 25% full, yet they made a huge fuss about only allowing me exactly 20kgs. My luggage was 23kgs and I had no hand luggage. They should concentrate more on delivering your baggage, rather than putting you in an inconvenient position especially when you are transiting in Paris and need to run to get your connection.

IAD-CDG-MAN Y class on B777-200. Both planes new and clean, crew friendly and professional, service was excellent, food was ok even in economy. The entertainment system was a limited and old and not much legroom.

DTW-CDG-LHR in Business. Cabin crew friendly, polite, and service oriented. The cabin was clean and comfortable. IFE worked well. Food and beverage service was very good. Only negatives were the dinner main course which was only lukewarm. Breakfast on the trans-Atlantic segment has been reduced to a "bakery selection" with coffee, tea, etc. We were expecting something more substantial. Although our bags were tagged "Priority", they didn't receive any priority handling at our final destination. We used the Delta lounge at DTW, which was nice, although the bar area was a little messy. The AF lounge at CDG was good, with a wide selection of beverage and snack items, and a few light food items.

Stuttgart via CDG to Sao Paulo, and back Economy Class. Problem was that we needed special assistance with a wheelchair - we called 2 weeks in advance to make sure Air France knew about it. It was marked on my e-ticket. So we went loaded with our bags to the Check-in just to hear why we didn't call to say we come with a wheelchair - I pointed out that I called in advance and that it must be in the system as its written on my e-ticket. They still said they don't know about it so and were particularly unfriendly. They gave us really bad seats in the last row. Arriving in Sao Paulo we had a connection flight with TAM Airlines - everything with them went well - they knew and changed the seats for the first row. On the return, arriving in Sao Paulo at Air-France Check-In again there is nothing in our system. I had to call Paris - about 30 mins later the guy said everything is okay, so we got the right seats on the flight to CDG. Never again! No bargain can be that good.

My suggestion is avoid at all costs. I will probably never fly international again after a horror experience with Air France and now to top it off nearly 2 years later they have cancelled our flying blue points changing the rules mid contract. We flew with them and had 3 years to use bonus flights for points on Flying Blue for return flights Brisbane to Dublin. Last week I signed in to book flight and found they had taken all points saying rules changed in April this year and everyone now has only 20 months to use these points. We received email at end of June with details of points accrued and no mention in that email that rules had changed and points had to be used by August.

BOS-CDG-BCN. Upgraded to seat plus BOS-CDG on 747 Upper Deck, quiet and relaxed. Excellent, attentive FA's - Food good, newspapers, Magazines and seat back screens. CDG-BCN a quick comfortable flight on A321. Return to CDG from BCN tasty lunch served. CDG-BOS in A340. Seats 15 J/K with ample leg room - Seats ahead in full recline force you to do the same. FA's did have them sit up for meal service. Overall very nice service and amenities over US carriers.

Hamburg-Paris-Boston. Hamburg to Paris on-time and service was pleasant. The morning flight gave us an assortment of newspapers as well as a choice of pastries and hot or cold beverages. Legroom was pretty condensed but it was a short hop so no problems. I had a 1 hour and 50 minute layover in Paris. I could see that CDG could be a bad choice if you have a very tight layover. Since I had a longer layover, I had no problems getting to my connection. Paris- Boston leg a B747. The aircraft is older and does not have individual TV screens - a big minus for a longer haul flight. I found seats to be comfortable, adjustable headrests, footrests, and the seat reclined while the bottom of the seat adjusted. I thought service was a bit above average, food the best I have had on a flight and crew were friendly. Drinks were always available (including champagne) and you could walk to the galleys for refills if you liked.

CDG-BUD-CDG on A319 and 320, Economy class. Planes are overall in a good condition, however not the newest ones are flying this route of 2 hours. Online or self-service check-in unfortunately not possible if you have a Malév ticket. Legroom is OK, seats are a bit narrow. No inflight entertainment. Basic but delicious lunch is served on noon flights, sandwiches are on all the other flights - do not serve dinner on evening flights. Only one real problem with AF they are flying to CDG, but they keep on selling transfer tickets with a transfer time of even 50 minutes. Whoever has already been to this airport of Paris knows, that it is just not possible. Other passengers, booking for connections of 50-60 minutes were almost always rerouted for the next flights. AF has built up a schedule based on connections of 60-90 minutes in Paris, which is very hard to respect with the conditions at CDG. Planes are often parked on different terminals than the arrival, forcing the passengers to additional bus rides.

Airfrance operated by CityJet is nothing like Airfrance standard of service really. It was a one-class all-economy service from Paris to Edinburgh. We boarded in Terminal 2E but the bus took us on a very long ride to some remote part of the airport. The plane was an old Avro RJ85 - given a "window seat" but with no windows! Although it was supposed to use an Air France flight code, the captain announced only in English and not in French. The breakfast mentioned in my official flight booking was really a joke - a croissant on a paper napkin and a drink - It was quite awful. I decided not to break my fast to have their so-called breakfast. Airfrance used to have executive-style commuter jet aircraft between Paris and Edinburgh and that was good but they have downgraded it to this. I hope the airline will look again into this and see how they can upgrade again the service on the Paris-Edinburgh run. I will certainly not recommend anyone to fly Airfrance on this particular route service if they continue with this and not upgrade it.

Atlanta to Paris CDG. Cabin attendants smartly dressed and friendly. Announcement in English and French were clear. The flight seemed to be about 90 per cent full but they managed to "re- arrange" passengers' seating so that "big" passengers (like the man besides me) were offered alternative aisle seats rather than seating between two other passengers. However, the meals onboard was really bad. Imagine "couscous" salad followed by main course which is chicken with semolina, again, a kind of couscous - meals tasted bland. The red wine was good though. TV screen was really small and it strained the eyes watching the movie - there were subtitles for some of the films but the words were so tiny one could not read them!

I try to avoid AF because since their merger with KLM their fares for Dutch residents doubled to KL captive market levels (talk about competition!). Took them last week to Seattle and back from SFO in Business class. A330 with AVOD and angled flat seat. Crew attentive and friendly. SFO to Paris poor, crew friendly and professional. All spoiled by a 20yr old |B747 in a seriously ragged state. Pre-historic entertainment system. Food hardly edible.

BSL-CDG-BSL. On the first flight an Embraer 170, good comfort onboard and nice service. The new domestic Terminal in CDG is still in construction but it does the job. On the return flight we had an Embraer 190, again good comfort and service onboard.

Tel Aviv to Paris economy class. Was upgraded to their premium economy class cabin which was nice - but whole journey was a bit of a shambles. The departure was delayed due to a problem with the starter unit, IFE wasn't working in the row that I was sitting in (no sound - they must have known before the flight took off) and then someone was sick in the area around the rear gallies. You would have expected some attempt to clean it up, but the crew simply covered it with a blanket and then carried on as if nothing had happened. Must have been pleasant for the people seated around that area. On connecting flight to LHR on 2 September, couldn't check in on line (maybe because I'd been in Tel Aviv?) and was given a centre seat at CDG. Asked why the online checkin wasn't open and no-one really interested.

LHR-CDG-PEK in business class. LHR-CDG on what looked like a new A321. Small snack and a drink on 40 mins flight. CDG-PEK on new 777-300ER. Excellent service, charming crew, comfortable angled lie-flat seat, delicious food served course by course. Two minor niggles. AF do not 'take your order' for dinner; you take pot luck with what's left on the trolley, unless you ask nicely (which I did). And the on demand entertainment is slow to boot up and what is actually available to view doesn't quite coincide with the listing provided in the in flight magazine. I would choose this carrier in future, particularly when its fare was nearly half the price of the cheapest British Airways fare, and the Air France fare was changeable, refundable etc, while the BA one was not.
