Arrived from Bangkok to Singapore on a early morning flight. This airport is a city within itself,
you really do not really need to leave the airport to go shopping, watch a movie, or go for a swim,
its all there! Stayed in the Transit Hotel which I found to be excellent, and got on my flight back
to Melbourne with no problems.

It is a wonder why Changi gets such stellar reviews every year. Yes, it's a good airport in so far
as it is efficient and clean. But there are other efficient and clean airports that don't get as
much praise as Changi. Moreover, there are serious drawbacks that hardly ever get aired. Frequent
travelers don't care about how pretty an airport is, or how good the shopping is. Travelers want to
spend as little time as possible in the airport. Changi is getting worse in this regard. It used to
take under 30 minutes to step off the plane and into the taxi line. Now, it takes longer. Gates at
the new terminal 3 is far away. And the addition of a new terminal necessarily means needing more
staff at immigration. This does not seem to be the case, so spreading out existing manpower over to
the new terminal means longer lines. You never know if you're going to arrive at terminal 3 or
terminal 2 if you flying in on SIA. They play roulette with gate assignments for arrivals. Why?
Perhaps they want to see if there are more passengers tranferring to flights leaving from terminal 2
or 3? What is surer is that it can be irritating to have people meeting you ending up at the wrong
terminal. Many airlines operating in Changi contract to have check in done by airport-linked
personnel. These people have no incentive to be accommodating or flexible. They have no connection
with the airline itself. The result is that they tend to follow the letter of requirements. No
flexibility. If your luggage is a little overweight, they charge you or make you dump stuff. They
charge overweight baggage to the very last kilo. They are unwilling to upgrade passengers, even
frequent flyers, on their own. Staff manning the counter for one airline (which will not be named)
recently said there is a policy of no upgrades, when this was clearly not true (we have been
upgraded on this airline). We recently flew with a pet. We have never been charged so much for
flying a pet than at Changi. Remember, this is contracted staff doing the estimate and leveling the
charge.

Changi has to be the model for other airports around the world. Free Internet terminals (beware the
15 minute limit per session!), good signage, an excellent, cheap - SGD$2 and frequent (though poorly
publicised to foreigners) metro link to Singapore's CBD and many suburbs, excellent availability of
drinking water fountains, spacious and clean toilets and comfy snooze chairs ensure it runs rings
around most other worldwide airports - especially price-gouging Australian and European airports.
However, on the downside, walking times (even with the aid of travelators) for connecting flights
can be long, and the Terminal 3 transit hotel can take a first time visitor a few minutes to locate.
Duty free is typically cheaper than Australian airports though Singapore's annoying system of
delivering a purchase to you at the airport gate (where you are waiting) makes for last minute
anxiety if you have left a purchase until an hour before your flight is due out.

Terminal 3 is the new jewel in the crown at Changi. It is modern and clean with good shopping
facilities. However for those who are frequent economy flyers with Star Alliance. The lounge is VERY
poor - there are no toilets or Showers. I find this as a frequent flyer, extremely poor. The Silver
Kris lounge on the other hand is extremely luxurious. It seems that frequent economy flyers are not
that important in today's market.

This is a well laid out airport, it has 3 terminals all easy to get to. Fantastic shopping with a
great variation in each terminal, with fabulous areas to relax for transit passengers . There is a
clinic, free showers, even a sleeping area. Music played live in the common bar areas, also a
transit lounge with televisions and comfortable chairs very relaxing. If you have over 5hrs to wait
for connections, the airport provides the most amazing free tours around the city and on the water,
all so informative and expertly presented.

Penang-SIN-Sydney in Jan with a connecting time of 45 minutes and a transfer from one of the
outlying gates of T2 to the central 'pod' of departure gates at T3 (from where all the Australian
flights leave). I made it through the grouped security gates at T3 with more than few minutes to
spare - they had just commenced boarding the A380 to Sydney - and my bags made it too. Hats of SQ
and Changi! On a subsequent trip I did some shopping at T2. Pity that T3 has little by way of mid-
priced shops. This comment may also draw some protest, but Changi is the one airport in the world
that treats its smoker passengers with considerable respect, by giving them well-ventilated neat,
clean spaces.

I have travelled through Changi on many occasions, each time has been fantastic. With free internet
access, endless space, tropical fauna, rooftop gardens, hotel and a swimming pool, give this airport
a well deserved 5 star rating.

On the single criterion of traveller service, Changi deserves a 5 star rating for honesty and
efficiency. On a recent transit stop my wife was shopping and lost her purse. In a phone call from
Melbourne that evening the shop confirmed that it had been found and handed to airport Lost and
Found. Their number was easily found on the airport website, we rang them, they confirmed they had
the purse and gave us a claim number. Emails next day clearly told us our options, we could either
retrieve the purse at our cost or they could send us the non-cash contents. Within a week the
latter arrived. A month later we received the bank-draft for the monetary contents of the purse,
every cent! This probably says as much about Singaporeans as it does about the Changi airport
itself, but it's still great 5-star service.

An excellent airport in every way! The planners have made every effort to make the travel experience
through Singapore a positive one. The free internet access, the reasonably-priced shops (including a
supermarket under T1 with standard prices, rather than inflated airport ones), the space,
cleanliness and relaxing ambiance, planty of seating and lie-flat couches for a longer transit,
everything well-signed, and so much more.

I arrived/departed from T1. Arrival was smooth, passport control speedy but our bags (tagged First
Class by CX) took ages to offload. T1 is dated in appearance, carpet smells musty, and lounges are
poorly signposted. Sure the shopping is extensive (expensive?), but the old T1 doesn't have a clear
layout, the low ceilings don't add to the ambience and generally left me underwhelmed. Maybe
expectations too high? Yet to try T3 - it looks superb driving past. Overall, T1 is efficient, yes,
but so are a lot of other airports in Asia.

The new T3 looks fantastic, quiet, clean, modern and peaceful. However, I had to make a connection
from T2 to T3 and had to take 2 trains to get to the gate A19. The security queues were so long and
slow, as unlike T2, 3 security gates are shared by all flights to Europe which leave more or less at
the same time. The security staff were efficient but lots of people travel with more than two hand
luggage! The staff screened and opened almost every bag, but still let people carry bottles of
water! Nobody seemed to bother to submit toiletries etc in a plastic bag. Departures to Europe from
T3 are almost always delayed due to security. I prefer previous connections at T2 where security
gates are for individual flights!

28 April 2008 Customer Rating :
Been at T3 for a 3 hour transit at night and this is the best airport terminal in the world. And
that would put Changi's T2 on a very close 2nd place. The terminal was one big glass house that made
it look bigger and more spacious. Food choices great, but a bit pricey. Smoking areas are clean and
much better than at most other airports. Security is tight but they do their searches efficiently
and politely.

3 super terminals. The new T3 is huge, with a great selection of shops, and quiet spaces to relax,
reflect and watch aircraft. Gates large with ample seating area, even for the A380. If you are in
transit, try the Rainforest lounge in T1 for a quick shower and massage, and if you have a few
hours, grap some sleep at T1's Transit Hotel, where you can also have a swim in the delightful
Balinese-style swimming pool. Don't just stay in the one terminal if you are in transit - it is
easy to move around with the Skytrain monorail. This is the place to transit if you can arrange it.

25 March 2008 Customer Rating :
Transited recently at the new T3 (and T2) in Singapore Changi. The airport was okay. The layout is
not confusing, just not efficient. The shopping and food was just okay, a bit more upscaled than T2.
I would love to see more glass and more airplanes on display, instead off plants and stores. The
color pallet of the whole airport is not comforting. Discussing T2 on the other hand, it was too
old. The carpet was looking a bit dusty and the shops was not amusing at all.

22 March 2008 Customer Rating :
Recently, I have used the brand new T3 for transit - T3 has lots of shops and restaurants. However,
the atmosphere is more peaceful than other terminals as there are lots of natural lights and plants.
Waiting areas nicely decorated. SQ gold lounge has ample space. It offers free wireless internet as
well as variety of foods. A good line-up shops with more specialized ones. It is definitely the
best airport terminal for transit.

14 March 2008 Customer Rating :
Had a couple of visits through the budget terminal. It certainly is. Its a third world airport
compared to the rest of Changi. At the moment its only used by Tiger Airways and was almost empty,
but if other airlines start using it and Tiger get more flights, the small restaurant and seating
will be overwhelmed. Boarding and immigration were easy although there are no transit facilities so
a change of flight means going through immigration twice. Departure hall was OK with several coffee
and snack outlets. No moving walkways to transport to the gates - just a long walk. Not bad thing I
guess after a cramped flight.

Transited at T3. All the airport staff were friendly and efficient. Washrooms clean. The airport
offers easy access to the skytrain to all terminals. It has free movies, excellent duty free shops.
A 24hour supermarket, free internet access and shower with a reasonable price. Not a single moment
have I had a bad experience at Changi. This world class airport truly deserves to be the best in the
world.

There is so much to do and not enough time. We were in T2, lots of shopping, nice areas to rest,
free internet access, free x-box games, small movie theatre, music booths. Everything you need is
there and they provide it for free. We also stayed at the Plaza Lounge against a fee and it was
nice. Best airport I have seen.

25 February 2008 Customer Rating :
Terminal 3: First thing that happens is staff meet you at the exit to direct you to the skytrain,
baggage or connecting flight in T3. The phones are free for local call. Shopping is easy and variety
excellent and top labels. During the day I was able to collect my luggage, report to information and
find all of the services I needed. To store my bags cost $6. The shuttle to Four Seasons Hotel was
$9 (includes a newspaper and a bottle of water) and the train back from Orchard Road cost $2.70. At
night I took advantage of the mini-hotel for $9.25 which included a snack and a cup of drink. The
mini hotel was inclusive of toothbrush, towel etc. The service counters inside are excellent and all
ticket and Kris-service can be done easily (Kris needs a free call). Avoid the cab/taxi because of
the new section charges on certain parts of the road (it costs too much now). You could end up
paying about 5 or 6 tolls just for going to the city. T3 is a masterpiece. The MTR (Metro) is
connected to T3 by walk bridge OR Skytrain.

Terminal 3 of Singapore's Changi airport is amazing. Very efficient check-in, fast immigration
counter, elegant architecture and lay-out, amazing bathroom stalls (with enough room to pull in all
of your checked luggage), good shopping, and excellent customer service. Especially appreciated is
the public space that can be used by your friends and family in seeing you off - kids will
especially like the viewing platform where they can see planes taxi-ing on the runway. There's also
extensive hawker stand (and what seems to be a fully serviced FairPrice supermarket) on the basement
level so that you can get your last fill of delicious Singaporean eats before your departure. Only
thing missing for now is a Citibank ATM.

Terminal 3 at Singapore Changi is everything an airport should be: efficient, user-friendly,
reassuring and relaxing. The Silver Kris lounge is open, airy and welcoming with decent food and

can't we do this in the US?

Transited through Changi for the first time ever on Emirates flight to/from Melbourne Gate C26.
This airport is the way all airports should be: uncrowded; scenic; relaxing. A sharp contrast to DXB
airport. Not a single person sleeping on the floor in Changi. Only criticism is that I encountered
young airport staff sitting in Harry's on the roof, playing blearing dance music on their mobile
phone loudspeakers for everyone to hear. Not nice if you are seeking peace and fresh air during a
break in a 14 hour flight. Otherwise, a first-class airport.

Immigration was very slow on Sunday evening - with long queues at all desks. Staff were very
friendly but slow at processing the large number of people. It took more than 1 hour from landing
to get to our luggage! I have been trying to find out the latest water rules and there seems to be
nothing published - so I will have a go and see what happens! Airport was very spacious compared
with LHR although there seemed very few places to sit down. Long Taxi queues too - took nearly 2
hours from landing to hotel in Orchard Road.

22 January 2008 Customer Rating :
Transited through new Terminal 3 twice this last trip (opened January 9th). Hall and concourse are
huge - must be at least 8 or 9 thousand meters from end to end, so expect a long walk to the gate,
and get a cart for your carry-on. Three large SQ lounges on the mezzanine level: SilverKris First
and Business, and a separate Krisflyer Gold for Star Alliance members, reached by a separate
entranceway. All have free internet, but most of the desktops are outside the lounge areas; not so
convenient to the tea and coffee caddy as in the Terminal 2 configuration. Gate holding rooms are
very large, and each has its own security check, as in Terminal 2. Very high-end shops in the main
hall; plenty of duty free. Nice design throughout; a spectacular building, and probably the most
elegant airport terminal in the world at the moment.

I was flying through Changi onwards to Adelaide, Australia from Heathrow and I must say that this
airport really is fantastic. The staff are fantastic and the lounge services are cheap. I managed to
get a shower before my flight.! The airport is rather hard to find your way around, for me anyway,
but the staff were more than happy to help me find my way to wherever I wanted to go. Honestly not a
bad thing to say about this airport or Singapore Airlines, both of them are top notch!

My daughter travels on Singapore Airlines twice a year to Sri Lanka for her vacation. She has a

was so overwhelmed that she was seen up to the taxi by the staff who accompanied her and I would
take this opportunity to thank Singapore airlines for having provided such persnalised service which
makes a difference in a persons life. Also I like to mention the service in Sri Lanka has also been
very good.

8 January 2008 Customer Rating :
The best big airport that I have seen so far. Clear signs, nice environment, plenty of shopping and
food, also excellent waiting areas for passengers with no access to lounges, many possibilities to
connect to the internet (either use a PC provided by the airport or connect your own laptop).
Excellent cleanliness with friendly, helpful and knowledgable staff is I think needless to mention
for Singapore in general. The lounges (Star alliance) are excellent. Can be only recommended and the
bonus is, if you have a long waiting time during the daytime, they provide a free 2h bus tour of
Singapore (last bus is leaving at 18:00 if I remember right).

If you are transitting SIN and have a spare few hours, avail yourself of the free tour round the
city. It is excellent, and gives you a good guide to the place (on my tour, I even met up with an
old female friend!) Also, if you are landside and using T1 or T2 have a squizz at the landside of
T3. After the annoyance earlier on my trip from LHR T3, nice to see how it should be done. Too close
to call between here and HKG as to being the best airport in the world for its size.
Plenty of room; not too badly-priced; told me not to buy something in dutyfree as I wouldn't be able
to get in onto my UK domestic service; easy to see the aircraft, unlike LHR.

I have just passed through Changi twice en route from London to Brisbane and return and cannot fault
it as a transit airport. For the equivalent of £25 you can use a lounge complete with free snacks and
papers, get a shower and have a massage, just what is needed between two long haul flights. Airport
staff are friendly and efficient. Duty free is not cheap but, frankly, I have given up on buying duty
free drink. I agree with the comments about bottled water.

Fly from Europe to Australia frequently and Singapore Airlines and Changi make the long travel much
better to handle. Also on stopovers it's great. The immigrations and luggage handling is fast and
efficient. There is always someone friendly around to guide you and never a long wait anywhere. Flew
threw Singapore 12 times last year and never did I have a delay or problems with the luggage handling.
Great airport and if you are a smoker try the garden on top of Terminal 2.

Very efficient on both arrival and departure - e.g. on arrival we were in the arrivals hall within

30 August 2007 Customer Rating :
It is a very good airport when compared with US and UK airports but would agree with previous comments
regarding a lack of seating. More seating is needed . My other gripe with Changi is their ever
changing security rules. This has caught a fair number of people out; security staff were refusing
food items like jam to be allowed onto the aircraft. This is not listed in their banned items. I
cannot understand either why the security desks were placed so close to the gate area; this is poor
planning. A passenger cannot therefore take a bottle of water onto the aircraft as there is no
facility to purchase water once security has been passed.

30 August 2007 Customer Rating :
Arrival in Singapore a pleasure, de-planed, through immigration, collected bags and in taxi within 35
minutes. Departure was similarly efficient, check in quick and easy to navigate, through to
departures very easily. I cannot agree that there is insufficient seating, we had row upon row to
ourselves at a busy lunchtime period. Also plenty of seating at the departure gate. Toilets clean.
No problems.

Transitted SIN. Nice airport but nothing seems to have changed. It all appears the same what was seen 7
years ago. Clean airport friendly staff and all good facilities. You can do a massage, take showers,
swim , use free internet not wifi which has to be paid. The duty free is nice which can keep you busy
but certainly not the cheapest. If you time to spare why not use their free city tour which takes you
to town and brings you back? No charges and in this way you can explore the city. The hotel shuttle in
terminal 2 is not a good service. They have like a mini bus and they ask us to wait for 1 or 2 hours
as they dont take bookings and it is on first come first serve so better to take meter cab or limo to
hotel. When I was coming back to Australia I went to buy alcohol and they refused to sell me saying
that it was less than 1 hour for flight departure. We must purchase one hour before departure someone
can carry it to the gate. I found that service very silly.

2 August 2007 Customer Rating :
Usual Singporean efficiency at Changi. Good variety of distractions
during transit: shopping, bars, restaurants. Easy to move around and to
find gates and other locations with good sign posting. Distances
sometimes a little long, although to be expected with an airport of this
size. Staff polite, friendly and helpful, even at the busiest times.
Overall an easy and efficient experience. Rules with liquids a little
tricky, however staff easily explain how the requirements work. Probably
one of the better airports in the regions and certainly one of the
world's most efficient and easy to navigate airports
