"failed to meet basic levels of professionalism"
Michael Roberts (United Kingdom)
✅ Trip Verified | The airport is fine, however if your luggage is delayed your are in for a nightmare. When we arrived in Trieste on Saturday our luggage was missing. The staff member at the lost luggage desk informed us that it should arrive that evening and we would receive a call at 7am to arrange delivery, took my details and gave us a phone number and email to contact for updates. No further information, support in adjusting our travel plans, guidance on what reimbursement we could receive or even a hint of an apology was offered. No call occurred on Sunday, and the details given to us at the airport for how to receive updates were incorrect. We tried contacting the number and email given, at which point we discovered that the phone number is an automated one that incorrectly stated our luggage had not been found and the email seems to be unmonitored. On Monday I again awoke for 7am and watched our phone, however the delivery staff failed to use the correct contact details and did not attempt to deliver our bags until mid afternoon at which time they again failed to use the correct contact details. They would not even confirm if or when the luggage would arrive and we were left wondering where our luggage was as they wouldn't even answer if they had it at the airport. On Tuesday I again woke for 7am and after not receiving any contact had to call the airport staff and beg them to attempt to redeliver, which they refused to do until the following day as they "had no bags to deliver that day". Why our luggage did not qualify for delivery was not explained. At this point after waiting four days we were forced to take a four hour round trip to the airport to retrieve the luggage ourselves. Upon arrival at the lost and found booth despite telling them in advance that we would be retrieving our luggage there was no one available and we had to argue with airport staff for someone to help us. When someone was finally sent to help us after being shown the luggage tags the staff member informed us that the plane hadn't arrived yet. After further argument and reminding them that they had our bags for the last three days our luggage was finally produced. If your luggage is delayed travellers are expected to wake up every day for a phone call at 7am that may or may not happen. If you miss this call your luggage will not be delivered unless you call back repeatedly. At some point later you will receive another phone call. If you fail to watch your phone diligently for the rest of the day and miss this call your luggage will not be delivered. Were I to deliberately design an approach meant to fail I could not have come up with a better system. On top of this throughout ours calls to the airport staff pleading with them to deliver our bags we were treated with contempt. The staff we spoke to laughed at us, made comments to their colleagues in Italian while we were speaking to them, hung up on us multiple times, would tell us to call back after their shift ended so another staff member would have to deal with us, and repeatedly failed to meet even basic levels of professionalism.

"the worst seating of anywhere"
H Reade (United Kingdom)
✅ Trip Verified | This airport has the worst seating of anywhere. There is not enough and the benches that are there are metal and freezing cold to the point that it could easily give you a numb bum. A second bad thing is the vip lounge .. not a VIP lounge as its basically a room with comfortable seating and a kettle that you have to know a PIN code to get into. On the positive side its clean and has lots of space and the staff, whilst not very friendly, are professional.

"there is no air conditioning"
Lorraine Kavanagh (Ireland)
Not Verified | The best thing about Trieste airport is the train link to the city. The airport seems to have been newly renovated but there is no air conditioning and with a very clinical holding area before boarding the flight, it was a very long and clammy wait (2hrs) which was as uncomfortable as it sounds. There is no water fountain so you are forced to buy drinks from the bar as you can’t bring liquids through security. It reminds me of the bad old days with Ryanair where you were interrogated about bags and made to put your bag in the holder, despite the fact that the person in front of you had a bigger bag, and you always traveled with the same bags without issue. I had to explain twice before getting to security that the extra bag I had was a change of clothes I needed before boarding the plane given that we were going from 29 degrees to 18 degrees.

"airport is quite basic"
39 reviews H Rogers (Netherlands)
✅ Trip Verified | A small airport near the city of Monfalcone and Trieste. The airport is quite basic and has bus boarding only. Arrivals is equally tiny which means from plane to the exit in less than 5 min. The interior looks rather dated and not always well maintained. They've some shopping and food & beverages but it's all nothing to rave about. There's a train station with connections to Trieste and Venezia which is very convenient.

"Non existent customer service"
R Matthews (United Kingdom)
✅ Trip Verified | Surreal. A bit like traveling in Belarus. Queues that recall Soviet times. Non existent customer service that makes you wish automatization of work would go faster so that humans at this airport could be replaced with machines. Horrendous luggage service, my luggage lost on the way in took some heroic efforts to recover. Shops are sad and deserted. Absolutely a nightmare. Avoid at all cost. Apparently they are struggling to sell the airport - no surprise there.

"Small, pleasant airport"
N Francis (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Arrived TRS on 15 March Airport under a great deal of construction. Departed on 19 March and most of the construction apparatus and scaffolding has disappeared. Airport seems newly refurbished. Small, pleasant airport. I used the new airport train station. Bit of a hike from the terminal, but still got through security 15 minutes after departing the train. (There were two people in line for security). One restaurant/bar post security and a small, comfortable, not-well-stocked lounge. Train station a welcome addition as the bus to Trieste takes an hour and the taxi journey is expensive.

Trieste Airport customer review
4 reviews Massimiliano Mesenasco (Italy)
A very small airport that mainly serves Trieste, Udine, Gorizia and the western part of Slovenia. More similar to a train station, as it often happens for small airports. A few shops that mainly sell local food and wine, a very small duty free and a couple of bars. It also features a small but comfortable lounge.

Trieste Airport customer review
R Skopac (Italy)
Two years after my last comment still no improvements and I use this airport on regular basis. If catching first morning flight no way one could have an easy cup of coffee. Bars open at 6am - queue too long to get your coffee on time. Toilets were worn out 2 years ago so one can only imagine how they look now after traffic increase. At 5h30am toilets were impossibly dirty which means they weren't cleaned the night before. People were sleeping all over airport in corners. It all remembered to some 3rd class railway station rather than an airport. Personnel not bursting with kindness.

Trieste Airport customer review

Nice pleasant airport. Check-in usually fast security queue depends on the number of flights departing at the same time. Airport gives you everything you need for a quick departure and arrival. Before security check: one cafe on 1st floor that opens too late in the morning and closes too early in the evening. After security check: one cafe no shops. Toilet cleanliness depend on the time of the day but worn out.

Very small airport although recently refurbished. The departure area has just one tiny bar before the security check. Once you go through the security check there is no chance to get a bottle of water. Few metal detectors. When I left I didn't wait on line more than 10 minutes but the area wasn't crowded at all. I guess the waiting time would increase dramatically when more flights depart simultaneously.
